Hey,
I never used this site before so I hope this can be asked here.
Is it possible to root the LG LM-Q710EM right now? If yes, can you guys give me a tutorial for it?

Far as I know it still isn't possible to unlock it much less root it. So far no root method that I know of.
ZTE Axon 7 A2017U, AospExtended v4.6 ROM, Radioactive v2.4 Kernel, microG (NoGapps), Multiboot, XDA Legacy
Lg's official bootloader unlocking method for Q7 is not available, so no one has ever tried to root it or develop a custom recovery

You mean it's impossible? What does it take to root the device?

A bootloader that can be unlocked. So far it's a no go. I sat on the phone for months before gifting it to a coworker, knowing that unlocking is just not gonna happen.
Moto G5S Plus XT1806, AOSiP 8.1 ROM, microG (NoGapps), MultiROM, XDA Legacy

On marshmallow rooting requires an unlocked bootloader due to new security measures, so thats what you need to ask for first. Currenrly only the european h815 and the t-mobile-us h811 can be unlocked.

Ho boy
I'm gonna need some time to work through getting all that setup. So I need to boot into that Linux, install Salt, unlock with UsU, Install Custom Recovery and finally root the darn thing
Wish me luck

That's why FWUL exists. It is fully android compatible and has SALT pre-installed (just do an update when starting SALT and do a backup before doing anything else)

Pretty sure there are no Moto phones running Oreo yet... and the G5 will be one of the last I imagine (in light of the G5s etc).

Well, moto live chat sayed that Ende if november oreo for g5 will be dropped. If u have bootloader unlicked, u cant update anyways, As it WILL hardbrick.
It's available on G5S Plus via Lineage OS n I'm assuming OTA Stock Update. Wonder if any of the Devs for G5 Lineage OS are in process of updating.
New to forums n XDA so not really sure how it works etc.

Are you sure that installing an OTA update with an unlocked bootloader will hard brick? It seems like the problem would be the custom recovery and not the unlocked bootloader.

Can anyone else confirm this? There is no reason just having the bootloader unlocked should break OTA.

p8tgames - thank you for the link. In fact, I have read many threads and I do not find clear or consistent answers. It seems to me that some of the problems are not necessarily related to the unlocked bootloader, but to a custom recovery or space issues. I thank you for trying to help out, but I am still not clear from your posts and those of others what the real source of trouble is.

Well idk either. In tester group wie discussed. Nobody known why happens.
HI, I have a H815P (on Nougat) got it for the great camera, and I know the bootloader cannot be unlocked but am I right to assume also that I therefore cannot root or flash any custom ROMs? thanks
I'm a recent H815P owner too and after searching for a few days I've come to the conclusion that it is impossible. That sucks for someone like me coming from a no-limits Galaxy S3.

Refer to the following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
Note: Your ability to downgrade to 5.1 with LGUP-NEW will depend on the anti-rollback version of your current kdz ... google it on how to find out or start by clicking on steadfasterX's signature in any of his threads - he has listed all currently known in one of his threads.

You need to unlock your device in order to install custom ROMs.
As you own a device which cannot be unlocked officially UsU is your way to go then.
After that: yes for sure you can install cypher for the 815p

It will work yes.
I have an H815p and it works for me.
Actually... h815's have the highest success rate for UsU unlock. My 815T was a piece of cake to unlock, dear

Guys, did any one knows what are the reasons behind no custom rom development for our devices.
It has very good hardware and a lot of developments can be done.
There are openkirin roms though!!! I did use the RROS gsi... It wasn't all that bad!!
Ghoos khilaya hoga sale chutiyo ne developers ko.
I don't think even Honor Play will be getting root now, because Huawei will not be providing bootloader unlock codes for new devices:https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-stop-providing-bootloader-unlock-codes/
