GPS signal lost when mobile data is enabled - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HTC ONE M8
Custom ROM android 9 lineage OS
I have recently noticed problems with the GPS on my device. Google Maps and Waze many times the GPS signal drops and can not determine the location.
In my test I could find that the GPS problem happens when the Mobile Data are active. Just disabling mobile data and GPS back to work with good accuracy and even on rainy days.
I researched on the Internet and can not find a solution to the problem. Already restored the network connections and even restored the factory settings.
Please help me... What is the problem ?

[Q] GPS doesn't work without downloading GPS data from the internet.

Hello,
I have Galaxy nexus factory rom 4.2.2 (unlocked and rooted) and I am very angry with GPS offline locking. I was used from other devices like HTC that all I need is just to turn on GPS and it will get the signal right away without a need to download any data for better locking. And I don't understand what it can't be that simple on Galaxy nexus GSM.
If I start for example "GPS status" app and this app is not able to download GPS location it WON'T lock ( it gets for example 3-4 satellites for a while and then all satellites disappears and it starts locking for satellites again.. - finds few satellites and drop them afterward but never lock if no data connection....) etc. ! I also tried to reset GPS data. But if I let it use data connection (wifi) it works right away like charm!
I don't really understand how it works. I guess it needs to download some kind of first lock data location according to my carrier or location internet provider. I am using NAVIGATOR for GPS navigation.
question 1:
is there any way how to make the phone work just by turning GPS on without using any data connection ?
question2:
If not, is there any way how I can pre-download the GPS location so I don't need to download it from the internet but just load it from the saved file or something?
I was searching but didn't find this kind of problem.
Thanks for any help.
I'll piggy-back on that thread since I'm having the same problem.
I moved my Galaxy Nexus (GSM, Maguro) from the stock Android to Cyanogenmod over a year ago, and noticed that GPS just won't work when I'm in a foreign country, ie. without a data connection while it works fine in my home country with a data connection.
Even after riding around outside for a whole day in open fields, GPS still won't locate me without a data connection.
I also noticed that while travelling abroad, GPS will locate me within a few seconds after I connect to the Net through a wifi connection.
Before I get a GPS + Glonass smartphone, I was wondering if someone knows if the problem is software-related and has a fix.
Here's what I'm currently running:
Android 4.4.4
CyanogenMod 11.0-Installer-XNPQ32P
Baseband version I9250XXLJ1
Thank you.

no GPS signal | HTC 10

Hello guys,
I'm having an issue with my HTC 10.
My bootloader is unlocked and I have TWRP and LineageOS installed.
My problem is that I dont receive GPS Signal consistently. Sometimes, when I was connected to WiFi and running "High accuracy" mode and then went offline, only having GPS and cellular networks enabled (I don't have mobile internet) in the Location settings I sometimes have consistent GPS signal and lock.
But most of the times when I tun on my location service I don't get a GPS lock at all.
So I installed the GPS Test tool and checked my connection. Strangely, the app detects around 25 stellites but doesn't receive any data from any one of them.
It seems to me, that my GPS antenna is broken, or is it a software problem?
Thank you for your support!

GPS Issues while non LTE band

Hello I have several issues with GPS when my A2 Lite is on 3G or 2G signals, so the GPS keeps dropping every few seconds but when the 4G signal kicks in, then I have continuous GPS signal with no interruptions until 3G or 2G kicks in again... If I set the phone on Airplane mode, the GPS also works just fine. The curious thing is that I previously had a REDMI 4 (Prada) with Android 6 which had the exact same issue and I thought it was a hardware issue but now with the A2 Lite the issue is the same... I replaced the SIM card just in case with no success at all. I find quite interesting that I have not found this issue in forums all over the internet and I canĀ“t find people talking about GPS on the A2 lite at all, is like nobody uses google maps or Waze on their phones......
So my question is: Is this GPS issue a hardware problem or an OS issue.
Hi, sorry mate for not posting any solution, but assuring you''re not alone in this.
I have similar issue on my A2 lite. When I'm on Gps navigating to somewhere and a call comes in. That disconnects my GPS immediately. My phone signal would jump from 4G to 3G. My waze would state, "searching for Network". Which leaves waze stuck without moving.
I'm no technie, but I believe this phone has issues with the band support. When a call comes in, it jumps from 4G to 3G and we Can't surf internet. Not slow, but the internet just doesn't load at all. This jump somehow disconnects GPS. Intermittently the GPS would start working while on the call, but it's hard to say.
Gps and network are 2 separate things, what you guys describe is not gps dropping but the inability of the device to download maps data. That's the problem with maps apps which don't rely on local maps (downloaded in advance) but on updating the map as you go. The gps itself works really well on this device, it finds a fix in a few seconds within 3 meters. There's Here We Go map which can also use local maps and if you don't need up-to-date traffic info you don't really need internet. There's also an open-source map called PocketMaps which does the same thing and it's a solid app. If you need to test gps there's an app called SatStat which shows the exact number of satellites in use.

Hi,
Me and my wife have the same problem. Me with a Mi Mix 3 and she with a Mi 8 Lite. It's not an online map problem because the map is downloaded and displayed.
Moreover, this problem does not exist on our previous phone (OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 6).

I'm not an expert on this but the app SatStat is really helpful in troubleshooting location issues. In the main interface you can see how fast your phone finds satellites, how fast it can use them and how many. There is also a map interface which shows location based on network (cell towers and WiFi access points) which is generally less precise but faster. I'd suggest also testing the issue with Here maps in offline setting where it only relies on gps and local map.

RN5Pro when switching from Wifi to Mobile Data, Internet not function correctly

My RN5Pro functions correctly with a Wifi connection, but once I leave my house outside of Wifi coverage, going to an area with no Wifi or mobile 4G/3G/2G signal for several minutes (eg. lifts or basement carpark), when I re-entered into an area with Mobile coverage, the phone would connect to mobile 4G/3G/2G showing full signal strength, but the Internet communication would not function correctly. I can not access most websites, I can hear instant messages coming in (Wechat or Line), but I can not open any messages and I can not send any messages out, applications such as Google Map also can not access any data.
I would the need to manually switch off mobile data, then turn back on the mobile data for the phone to access Internet correctly.
The problem started with MIUI Global Stable 10.2.1.0, the problem remained with 10.2.2.0 and the latest 10.3.1.0.
This problem does not exist with 10.0.6.0 and earlier ROMs.
It seems that somehow the DNS is messed up in the background, mobile connectivity is present, but not all data gets through correctly.
Are there anyone on this forum experiencing similar problems? This issue has been reported by many users in my local MIUI community, but the Mi Service Center is not responding or acting on the problem.
