Hey everyone,
My Nexus 5X fell and the screen is now fully shattered. When I transferred my SIM card to another phone and downloaded the WhatsApp backup, there was a problem in the process and several months went missing from the backup.
My idea was to access the Nexus 5X through a PC, find the local backup and transfer it to the new phone. However, because the screen in shattered, I cannot enable file transfer, and I cannot use methods that include USB Debugging (it is not enabled and I cannot enable it).
Is there still a way to transfer the file? Or, is there a way to enable USB Debugging without the screen?
Thanks in advance,
katzuv

Hello everyone,
I just got my Note 2 three days back, I love the device and the OS.
I am running Mac OS 10.7.5 and I am unable to mount my phone to the mac, I have tried using android file transfer and it says cannot find device.
I tired both the MTP and PTP options and restarted multiple times, I have also tried Double Twist and the phone doesn't show up - though dropbox is able to recognize the device. I have tried Kies but its really show to recognize the phone and it takes ages to transfer.
How can I mount my phone on the mac so I can use the double twist interface or just drag and drop files to the phone.
I also have another questions on where the contacts, notes etc are getting backed up and how can I access them.
Thank you
There is an app somewhere in the market place to mount USB
For contacts, I back it up online using google contacts, since android phone is already tied with a google account.

Go to settings and enable developer options and usb debugging too. It will help you to connect in mtp mode. For contacts you can use Google cloud or export them to your sd card like .vcf file. For notes backup you can use samsung cloud under settings. You can backup your messages , calender and s notes too.

Hello,
I am unable to rename folders or copy contents of my Nexus from one folder to another and I usually end up with an error like your nexus is disconnected etc, however, Copying from PC to Nexus works fine.
Could i be due to Nokia cable ?
Or are there any settings involved ?
I know the internal memory is in used while on USB mode but is there a way to overcome it ?
I ran into the same issue. But even after disconnecting the N7 and renaming the folder on the device when I reconnected the PC still displayed the old name. It took a while before the new name showed up.

I unlocked my device and now I think i have very less of an issue
This use to happen to me a lot when ever I wanted to copy large game data files a window would always pop up saying device is disconnected or not mounted something like that this is what I did though I when and changed USB settings to mtp then I went to developers settings and clicked on the USB debugging then I went to display and brightness and turned on the screen timeout to 30 minutes and every time I copy a file I make sure my nexus 7 is with the screen on and it has been working for me without a problem...idk why though you have to have the screen on though
Hi everyone,
I've encrypted my HTC One M8 and I thought this would mean that plugging the phone in via USB would require a screen unlock. However I've just plugged my phone in to empty the internal storage and I can access all my photos/screenshots/camera data straight away..
I wanted to encrypt my phone to prevent a thief being able to see all of my photos in the event of a loss/theft. Why is this happening and is there any way to achieve this? Encryption seems pretty pointless if I can just see everything anyway..
Cheers guys.
My mistake, I realised I changed the screen lock settings so the device was unlocked when copying. Encryption works as expected.
Please can a mod delete at their soonest convenience, thanks!
Hi, i have a non-root samsung galaxy tab 8.4 which sometimes loses data on its own (especially the photos that are took lately) and it wasnt a problem for me, since this time! it deleted the whole folder of my selfie app -B612- which contained all my personal pics now Ive been looking for recovery softwares on computer and Ive found many but none of them work without Root or USB Mass Storage which my tablet doesnt have this option, so i needed to root to get a enabler...
Is there any safe way to root without bricking my tablet?
OR any way to convert portable device into removable?
Hi!
My Pixel XL bricked yesterday suddenly while I was using it normally, just placing a call. I have bought a new phone as I needed to change, but I was wondering if there's some kind of storage chipset located on the mobo and some kind of gadget that I could use to retrieve the data that was stored in the old Pixel XL, in the same fashion of the PC toasters for HDD. Thanks!
Short answer: No.
Long answer:
If you can unbrick your phone then extract the date and decrypt it then yes.
Obviously you can't do that normally, but if you can disable "forceencrypt" on your device after getting your device to work, then extract the data then it's possible.
So in conclusion it's very hard, if you don't have a backup then forget about it.
