Stock ROM, two types of navbar. - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi, I revert stock because March update gets in bootloop.
On stock ROM I see two diferentes navbars.
On with center circule filled and another one with another circle around.
I attach two screenshots to clarify.
How can I switch between two navbars?

I noticed that too. Sometimes the Home button loses this second border (?) but it happens so randomly I can't figure out what's the cause.
Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk

I had only the smaller circle in Oreo, I think.
I had the smaller circle after upgrading to pie. But after a factory reset I only get the larger (double) circle.
I guess the smaller circle is somehow a lefover from Oreo.
There's an animation on the button if you hold it but I must have disabled whatever it's connected to because it does nothing.
A previous phone had different home button icons depending on the app. I could never figure out what the trigger was.

Hi Iniro,
Hope You Are Doing Good.
You can Customize/Change The Style/Icons Of Navigation Buttons Using ADB Instead Of Root & Without Unlocked Bootloader.

The first thing what i did was to change the language. After that the main screen i thing resizes and the icons in the bottom of the screen disapered. When i put my finger in the bottom end of the screen can move them top to the screen, but the buton for the menu can't be moved.
Also when somebody calling me i think there have to be red symbol on the left and green simbol on the right - I cant see them.
How to resize screen to see the icons on the main screen?

I didnt understand your first issue so i'll skip that.
To receive calls or to reject them, you need to pull the ring towards left or right.
Regarding gapps, you have installed gingerbread gapps, which wont work on ics,you need to download and install ics gapps.

I know that to receive calls or to reject them i have to pull the ring to the left or to the right. But i think that there have to be a green ring on the left and a red on the right - there are no rings there.
To explain clear the first think i am attaching a picture. This line is outside the screen down.
Before changing language was O. K.
I didn't understand you about gapps.

For the first issue,I guess you have 3 pages on the dock below, try swiping it..it might help.
Second thing, there are no green and red buttons since ics in aosp roms.
And for gapps,

I know that there are 3 pages. As I explain in the first post the screen resizes and they disappear down, outside the screen. When i push my finger to the end of the screen i can take them and move up in the screen, but the central button for the menu can't be moved.
I suppose you're using trebuchet launcher, tried using apex or nova?

[Q] Home Screen Offset - Solved

This evening when I unlocked (as in, from the lock screen) my Verizon HTC One M8 it appeared that the Sense home screen was stuck between two panels. Icons and widgets were half way off the left side of the screen. I tried to move them over but it kept putting them back to the left. I swiped through my panels and all of them are like that. I tried to remove widgets/icons/panels but nothing has helped. I've also shutdown and rebooted to no avail. It seems like the panels have gone from being tall rectangles to squares. It's making my home screen impossible to use. Has anyone else ever had this problem?
Version: 1.12.605.11, s-off, rooted, TWRP, stock (only a few frozen bloatware). All of the modifications were made shortly after s-off was released, no changes made since then.
I have some screenshots that I'll post shortly.
Thanks.
Screenshots:
Removed to save personal bandwidth.
You could restore to the backup you made before doing any changes? Sounds like you froze the wrong thing. You could try unfreezing. If you have no backup you can download one or flash a Rom. All the high end roms work on all m8 variants.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Have you tried deleting them and replacing them?
EDIT: nevermind missed that in the OP. Try deleting the homescreen they're supposed to be placed on?

Thanks for the replies.
After trying a bunch of things, changing the font size seems to have reset everything to normal. A very odd bug, almost as if Sense was stuck in landscape mode while the display was portrait.

Swapping "Back" & "Recent Apps" buttons???

So I am a LONG time Samsung user. I've had every generation of the Note's and recently moved to the Pixel XL after returning my Note 7.
The phone is great and silky smooth so far but my biggest gripe and I know this is something I could become accustomed too if I had too but I was hoping that maybe there was an easy way to swap the placement of the two buttons.
On Samsung's the back button is on the right and the recent apps button on the left. Almost all other Androids are swapped (The Pixel is no different obviously) but trying to re-wire 6 plus years of back button pressing is going to be a lot of work and I have my fingers crossed there is a way to to do this easily within settings somewhere that I have missed.
The buttons themselves are merely icons on the screen, so swapping their positions doesn't seem unreasonable, I know you can do it with a rooted phone but I obviously don't care to void my day old phone's warranty quite yet. I'd understand if they were illuminated buttons on the bezel like the Samsung phones, but these are icons.
Anyone figure this out?
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried the app All in One Gestures? I don't have my Pixel XL yet, but I use the All in One Gestures app to swap the back and recent buttons on my Galaxy S6.
First off, unlocking the bootloader and modifying does not void the warranty on Google phones. There are no software methods included to swap the navbar icons. Only way remaining is to unlock the bootloader and look for a way to mod it.

Custom ROM only the?
Wasn't there a mod that went around with the Nexus 6P that added more options to UI Tuner for NavBar? Could this be done?
I came from Samsung also. If you decide to unlock your bootloader and flash TWRP you can use this. Works great is what I used before I went to pure Nexus. And u can flash back to stock it will stick with it. Until u do factory reset. Comes with aroma installer so you can decide what you want.

Just change them in system ui tuner.
If you don't have it. Pull down statusbar. Press the settings icon and hold it for about 5 secs.
Now you should have it in settings.
Go to navbar
There you can just pull the symbols by holding the = and pull them up or down.

Is this working for anyone ?
I mean, i get the system ui tuner, but theres no option for the nav bar.
I remember on the N6P we had to flash a zip first to make it visable.

It won't work. That option is not enabled by default. You need to decompile system ui apk and add a line of code to tuner_prefs.xml for nav bar to show up in system ui tuner.

You can do it in TWRP using the file manager in there. No root needed. Just temp boot TWRP swap the apks and reboot.

Yes, you can do it with root or booting twrp. One day Google will allow you to change this within the stock firmware.

Did you push and hold the cog wheel when you pull down the notification screen? You have to do it for a long 5 seconds, then the option for system UI should appear when you go into settings.

I would assume that since you are rooted, that you have TWRP installed or at least know how to do it?
I'd flash WETA Mod 3.1. https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/themes/mod-weta-ui-mods-t3491181
Gives you a bunch of customization options including adding NavBar tuner back in the System UI. Easier I think than going in and messing with system files. At least IMO.

When you say "decompile the apk, to add aline", can you please elaborate? I have had a few notes from Samsung and can't get used to the back button on the left for my Lenovo TB-X103F tablet.
I have held the cog for 5 seconds to reveal the "system ui tuner" category. However, nav bar isn't shown.

I use "Custom Navigation Bar" app and toggle the switch with one tap. https://play.google.com/store/apps/....systemuituner&rdid=xyz.paphonb.systemuituner

Navigation buttons anyway to swap them around ? and make them appear or disappear ?

All my recent phones have been Oneplus phones (5 and a 5T) and there is always an option to change the order of the recent and back buttons, I tend to prefer them the opposite way round .....but usually not an issue to change, but I cannot find any button switching on the recent and back buttons.
Also is there a option to make the recent and back buttons just drop off the screen when surfing , on the 5T you can assign a gesture so just flick up from the bottom of the screen and the buttons appear, which is really useful when reading a website as it gives you more screen to view rather than losing a centimetre from the bottom of the screen.....but once again I cannot find such an option.....anyone know how or if this can be set ?
Other than those and the battery percentage not showing ( I just use an app instead and turn the battery icon off) I am enjoying the phone, but those two fairly minor things would be nice to work out...
Probably you need root to do this on stock Android (there is already a pre-patched Magisk boot.img for the A2L). Then an app or a (still non-existent) Magisk module will do the trick.

Not yet, but as I said above, if you search in the development section (very easy, there is only one thread at the moment) there is a user that posted a modified boot image that includes Magisk.
If you flash that image via fastboot and then install the Magisk manager apk, you'll be ok (there is a link to a guide in the same post with the boot image).
u can use xda navigation gusture..

HI , The only issue with the link is that it explains for rooted then has a link for non-rooted which takes you take a page of 24 pages full of different hacks that do not seem to explain how to do this for non-rooted phones.
Do you have a direct link to the non-rooted method please.

for the guys who don´t know if you press the settings button on the navigation bar bar about 10 sec ( keep doing until a new option appears on system menu) called interface tuning or similar that you can tweak the status bar
You can use "custom navigation bar", using adb instead of root.
this is not true. if it is true, show us.

not navigation bar.
yes i can confirm that pressing the settings button on the notification shades for a few second make system UI tuner to appear on settings above developer settings. and it's only purpose is for hiding some statusbar icons.

Well, so far so good. The only negative thing I can say about this release, which may improve over updates, is that Samsung's apps just seem to take maybe around a second more to load.
The dark mode and the adjustments all over the UI for one-hand operation overshadow this one small complaint.

I also updated from Oreo to Pie and was running substratum with sungstrum plugin. I deleted all the themes and cleared all caches and restarted before upgrading to Pie. When upgraded it was all fine but when switching to dark mode all my system apps went berserk and started force closing. Switching back to light mode solved that problem. But apparently there where still files from substratum conflicting with the dark theme. So I had to reset to factory settings and after that the problem was entirely gone. So maybe this is a heads up for some one else before upgrading.
The first drawback I encountered is the app drawer. When trying to move app icons to the bottom part of the screen it sets it automatically back to the top position. I find this very strange given the fact that Samsung wanted to let us use the bottom part of the screen more than the top part. Now I still have to reach to the top part of my screen. Not very "one handed" friendly. I use my icons in groups maybe that has something to do with it.
For now I still have to discover the upgrade more, but it looks promising for now. Its fast and the UI is smooth as butter.

If she's already on Pie beta the final update to the stable version will only be small, if she's on Oreo it will be 1.7GB~
Beta is finished now so chances are she's either on the last beta or final already, check if the members app opens the full app or the beta OneUI part
