Had soft reboots when using browser. Wiped, re-flashed and same issue.
What gapps package did you use? I made a quick one with play services and gmail.

Go into permissions and issue all permissions to the browser, or just install chrome - it supports 6.0 better
I am not going to talk about GApps, sorry
Try the marshmallow for nexus 4 thread - people there might have answers.

For gapps i used this package https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347833783 its pretty basic but gets you what you need, make sure to do a factory reset after flashing it otherwise the setup wizard will fc.
Now all we need is root

Used these gapps, follow the instructions though, use "touch 'filename' " in TWRP terminal for the file creation. Gapps on 6.0 is struggling right now, but these instructions worked for me.

did you erase all data and cache when flashing?
if no, nothing i can do - i do not support that
if yes send me logcat

Thanks, that worked for me.
Also tried flashing supersu 2.52 beta from twrp but that seems to make it stick at the android loading screen so I guess there's no root at the moment.

it is a userdebug image, so at least in adb you have root

Amazing piece of work. Gonna try it as soon as a reliable gapps package is out!

I was having the bootloop at google logo and couldn't figure out what to do.

great job on the rom, no idea why people are having issues, i found the gapps package in the nexus 4 forum....no bootloops here, everything seems to work......I was able to enable google now on tap however i do not know how to use it, instructions say to hold down the home button to launch, however we do not have a home button, any ideas?

Maybe we need a kernel that supports root. That's how it is on the Nexus 5 anyway. I don't know if any of the lollipop kernels would work on this. Maybe I'll try that sometime soon.

Just an FYI.....
Updating Google Play Services (required for YouTube) sends it into a FC loop.

I've noticed it has been pretty quick. Did a full wipe and used the system.img from his website. Used these gapps. https://github.com/XorgMC/gapps-mm/releases/download/v1-mini/gapps-mm-mini.zip
Also, if you use those gapps it will say it failed if you try to restore your apps. Hit skip and it will say restoring. It will take a long time to install the apps. If you lock the screen and then unlock it swiping from the side to open the google app you can use the device while it restores your apps.
I havent had any issues related to the rom, just the gapps. Google app fails when i try to search something.

Please help with Magisk on Moto G6 play!

I have been experiencing MASSIVE slow down and lag in all of my Apps the past month. When I have facebook messenger open, or my camera, everything slows to a halt. It is making using the phone a nightmare.
I tried getting an SD card, doing a full factory reset, and a few other things, but it is still going extremely slow. I have read 100s of forum posts, and nothing I can find seems to be working.
I was able to install TWRP recovery, and would like to root my device so I can start uninstalling the moto apps, or further diving into figuring out why my phone is going slow.
I can not get the Magisk to install correctly, and have tried so many things now that I am at a loss...
I tried doing a "format" doing a "wipe" putting the zip file on my external SD card, but nothing is working.
If I just go and try it normal I get the "Can not mount storage" error that seems to be coming for the device being encrypted. If I do a format or wipe it does not give me any errors and seems to install correctly, but when I reboot (it goes through the encryption process, and "new phone setup" process) the Magisk manager isnt installed. People kept talking about it, but I couldnt find the files to patch in Magisk, and when I used the TWRP that was supposed to be decrypted it wouldnt flash.
Would you happen to be able to find the forum post describing what to do? I searched again and couldnt find any instructions. Sorry to ask... I have seriously just been googling this for 2 straight days and cant figure it out.

Can anyone provide an update? I cant stand how slow my phone is.

1. Flash TWRP.
2. Mount /Vendor in TWRP, then flash the universal encryption disabler which can be found in this thread.
3. Format /data in TWRP using the option that requires you to type in "yes".
4. Reboot from twrp right back into twrp, then flash Magisk.
5. If for some reason Magisk claims to not be installed after flashing it, then manually install the Magisk manager app. It should fix it right up.
6. Profit.
Twrp with /vendor mounting can be found here for 16gb variants, and here for 32gb.

I just did it and was able to debloat my phone.
The stupid part is it is still going SUPER slow!!!
Any idea how I can fix slowness? I think I just need to get a different phone. This is unusable.

If no 3rd party apps are installed and it's still slow, then you probably have a hardware problem. If you do have any 3rd party apps installed, I'd try removing them one by one to see if anything improves.

Well... there is no way to see if it is slow if there are no other apps to use. ;p
Do you know if there is an app that shows CPU usage per app?

I think there was a misunderstanding here. What I'm saying is, after you debloated the phone, if you didn't install any apps and it's still acting slow, then you might have a hardware problem. I don't know of any apps to check CPU usage. Best I can think of is the battery settings. It'll at least tell you what's running the most. You could also check running apps in the dev settings to see what's using the most RAM. Between the two it should give you a good idea if a system app is doing something unusual.
It is possible that you're just used to a much faster phone though. My J7 Perx was way faster than the G6 Play, and it frustrated me for a few weeks. Still kind of irks me to be honest.

Android Q beta 3 wont mount /system as rw

Okay I was able to modify /system on android Q beta 2 just fine but on beta 3 I cant do it no matter what I do. Everything I do either results in "invalid argument" or "/dev/block/sda7 is read only" Heres what Ive done so far:
1. Magisk Canary
2. Boot into TWRP and try mounting there
3. Flashing Q again but with -w
4. Custom Kernel
5. Issuing any mount commands I can think of
6. Resetting back to Pie then updating to Q again
7. Relocking the bootloader and then unlocking it again but this time with unlock_critical (for some reason the phone wouldnt let me do unlock_critical before)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need access to /system to edit build.prop to get rid of the navbar and to disable carrier provisioning
Also yes I have verified root works, as my kernel manager can modify kernel related settings

I don't have a "fix" for it unfortunately, but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I've experienced the same thing. I tried Magisk Stable and Canary, FX Explorer, Root Explorer, ES Explorer, and a couple of other root file explorers, several busy boxes "versions," setting SELinux to permissive, upgrading to beta file explorers in the Play Store, and on and on. Regardless of what I tried, nothing work to make /system read-writable. I can only assume it's a new security "feature" in Q that apps devs are going to have adjust for. I've left a few messages with some of the devs letting them know about the issue.
Unfortunately, in situations like this, most non-XDA, Play Store devs wait until the new version is official before they bother "fixing" their apps. That means it could be several months from now before it works again, unless it's a bug in Q3, which is entirely possible. If that's the case, the maybe we'll get lucky and Q4 will fix it.
In the meantime, coming to that realization was enough for me to go back to Pie. I've got to be able to make manual changes to /system.
I had a really hard time when I tried to Google search this issue. This issue specifically to do with the Android Q beta 3 doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere that I came across. I'm going to subscribe to this thread. We can use it to post updates on this issue as new betas come out, or if someone actually finds a way to "fix" it.

Someone mentioned MiX explorer in that thread, did you try that one. I think I looked for it when I was on Q, but couldn't find it. I don't think I checked XDA though. In any event, they posted a link to it. If you're still on Q, try it out and let us know.

Someone in the MiX thread said something that makes it's seem like it's a Magisk issue and not a file explorer issue. I've asked them to clarify.

Same goes for A10 OTA. There is a updated Magisk 19.4 but still didn't fix /system problem yet.

MiXplorer doesn't mount system rw on android 10. Anyone knows any other method. It has been quite time since we are facing this problem...?

It's due to a fundamental change in Android Q. Topjohnwu had an article explaining it in more detail somewhere. I wouldn't hold your breath for it to be worked around any time soon. You'll have to make due with Magisk modules to accomplish whatever it is you want to do.
I can try and help you out with whatever it is you want to do, either by giving you a link to a module that already exists, or helping you create your own.

I couldn't even get that far

I tried opting out the beta and opting back in and that still didn't work

Maybe restarting and downloading again fix this problem

I even did a factory reset, still no go.

I always flash ota in recovery personally
Worked perfectly. Have to say this is ultra smooth and noticeably snappier

Thanks I also adb sideloaded the update and your right it's very smooth

I was able to upgrade. But update bricked my phone. Phone freezes with "G" logo and progress bar bellow. I've posted on twitter, but no reply from google.

I always update by downloading the zip image and removing the -w parameter in the .bat file inside, worked great with beta 6.
Have any of u guys problems with facial recognition? i had mine set it up and now its not working

Toggle the trust agent only extend unlock toggle in developer settings and it should fix it

Hi, i did just like u said but still cannot access with trusted face. thanks anyway
Edit: ok i got it now, first i'd removed trusted faces from setting (like normal), then went to apps and force stop trusted faces app and from storage option cleared all storage, then i was able to adding my face again and works like a charm.

WhatsApp not working!

Well, I do not know when or how but Whatsapp app is broken on my device! Just not starting anymore, I only get some force crash screen of about 1 second and that's it...
I have a Note 8T with latest EEA software 12.5.4.0 MIUI 12.5, rooted with Magisk, custom recovery (OrangeFox)
Funny story but enabling dual apps for Whatsapp, basically another user, I managed to start and use the app, as a secondary app because the base app is still dead!
Now, my question is:
How do I get Whatsapp to function normally again???
Things I tried:
1. clean cache and data - no fix
2. uninstall/ install app - no fix
3. enable miui optimizations - no fix
4. fix/ repair data partition in OrangeFox recovery - no fix
Is there anything else I could try in order to fix this issue? It might be somehow related with the user part of the data partition? But why only this app is affected then?
I'm just baffled by this turn... don't know what to do anymore...

try with :
uninstall/reboot/install
if still not work
go to : Data/system/dropbox
delete everything
open wsp and send the generated crash log (from that folder)

Well, tried twice uninstall/ install procedure... Same result...

i said uninstall/!REBOOT!/install
when you reboot, the package manager will delete the app leftover
the app crash because there is some data left from a previous version
try deleting "com.whatsapp" folder from
/data/data/
and from
/user_de/0/
also whatsapp folder on internal storage

But, now, it worked without deleting anything except the dropbox content you mentioned earlier!
It just went smooth, install, setup, restore backup and all without a glitch!

Anyway, I would really love to know how was this possible in the first place as I did nothing specially regarding this app... and found myself in this situation of not being able to use it anymore... why only this app? Was something some update maybe that broke something?

what matters here is the timing (reboot after uninstall, once booted install)
