Rooting problems OOS 9.0.4 - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hi, I have a 5T, I'm on OOS 9.0.1, I'm using Magisk 18.1, updated from Magisk 18.0.
I tried to install from OTA, OOS 9.0.4, then I tried to reinstall blu spark twrp 3.2.3 and I tried to install Magisk 18.1, when I boot OOS, the phone is instantly showing "shutdown", and it boots to recovery, twrp.
Then i dirty flashed OOS 9.0.1 and Magisk 18.0, it worked and I'm now using it with 9.0.1.
I tried many times to install Magisk 18.1 or 18.0 on OOS 9.0.4, but I have the same problem. How can I solve this problem? Is the treble.zip file?
Will a clean flash solve the problem? Please help me, I love OOS, i tried also other ROMs about 4-5 months ago, but I didn't like it.
Dirty flashing 9.0.1, phone app is not working, when I click on it, it opens and closes in about a second. How can i solve?
I also have problems on Waze app, I read on Internet a lot of people have this problem, is it solved on new OOS? How can I solve with root? Can I install a GPS mod?
Thank you.

You need to unload the original module, then double clear! I have also encountered this problem because I installed a fingerprint module and it was updated after uninstalling.:highfive:

Thank you, I've just solved uninstalling magisk before update, so wipe dalvik/cache -> magisk uninstaller -> flash oos 9.0.4 -> flash magisk 18.1 -> wipe dalvik/cache -> reboot system

booting forever after rooting oxygenOS 3.2.8

So I was on rooted 3.2.6 with xposed installed and decided to upgrade to 3.2.8.
I dirty flashed the full ROM 3.2.8 onto my 3.2.6 (without flashing SU or xposed because I wanted to use Snapchat with snapprefs again so I i flashed 3.2.8 without root , logged into Snapchat etc. )
after that I flashed superuser and xposed and since then my phone doesnt boot.
I interrupted the first try because it took over 20 minutes then tried it again after clearing cache and dalvik but it still doesnt boot ( i see the two circles and red dot)
Hope someone can help me
PS: I didnt make a backup because it would be too large, on the other hand I have the full 3.2.8 on my internal storage as well as the latest superSU
solved it
If someone experiences the same problem you need the newest xposed version v87. Flash it normally and wipe cache/dalvik , thats it !
I had that, I fixed it by boot to twrp flash the xposed uninstaller zip to remove xposed, then the phone should boot normally, I then found a newer version of xposed (the November security patch in 3.2.8 doesn't like older versions) and flashed it via twrp again, all my modules were still there and didn't need setting up again either.
Hope that helps

Magisk failing to install

Hi Guys
I'm with a problem. I installed Magisk a while ago and after my install Magisk just stopped working and it did not detect root (in Magisk manager). I reinstalled it and it worked...for 10min and after that it stopped. I update my rom (RR) which has Magisk preinstalled on it and still no succes. I flash the rom and after 10min Magisk stops working. I tried clean flashing rom but no succes.
Any suggestions guys?
Thanks
Unless you see any specific errors I TWRP Flash the latest version of Magisk.
... before that revert to a proper kernel IMG

Magisk on MIUI 10 8.7.26

Hi,
After making a clean flash of the latest official global 8.7.26, I tried to flash magisk (it worked on my previous installation, 8.7.12), but I get a bootloop everytime.
Any ideas on how to fix that ?
Cheers
Edit: solved, see my solution 5 posts below.
i have 8.7.26 and magisk 16.7 everything ok

So you flashed the rom, and then flashed magisk zip, and it worked ?
I wonder why it's not working for me
Edit: tried flashing uninstaller twice, then flashing magisk again, no success. Tried with lazy flasher, nothing. Same with 16.0 and 16.7
installed the Room, Reboot,installed magisk
Rip me then. Any other things I could try ?
All right I solved it, here's what I did:
- Go to settings -> About phone -> System update -> menu (3 dots) -> Download update
- Your phone will download something. (I was on the latest version available already, so my guess is it re-downloads the update package for the current version )
- Install the update (it did it in TWRP). The phone should reboot automatically.
- Boot back into TWRP, you can now flash magisk and boot without problems.
You can try Magisk 16.4. It works for me, but Xposed is still not working. Any Idea?

Unable to install Magisk Zip on November update

Hey all, I have always updated each month using the simple methods posted here, just doing a fresh install of each factory image.
I have got the november update installed, TWRP installed. However, I cannot for the life of me get the magisk install to "take".
I have installed various versions, 16.7 17.1 and 17.3 in TWRP, have rebooted to system each time, and yet no magisk zip. Have even tried doing fresh install wiping system, magisk uninstall, etc. Anything you can think I am doing wrong?
I just checked and its nothing wrong with the TWRP method... I was just able to install sultan zip from it. Any other way I can get magisk manager/Magisk zips? I have always just flashed the zip from TWRP. please help, thanks

Very strange, but it just worked, after the 20th time of doing the same thing. Who knows why
Hey, my issue with Magisk is a bit different. I've upgraded my Pixel 2 XL every month and flashed Magisk afterwords. What I keep running into for the past couple of months is that after I'm all done, I will get a notification that there's an update to Magisk, but it's the same version I already have. I've tried different versions from 16.7 to the beta 17.3 and I would always seem to lose root after a while and be prompted to download the update to Magisk. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
I am having the same issue with magisk after updating to nov update. Did the flashall then booted twrp and flash magisk Not sure why

Run the Magisk uninstaller first
run 17.1 or the uninstaller. i've had better luck with 17.1
I guess the issue is linked to the Active Edge Module!
Download "uninmod_magisk", install it via TWRP, execute it via Terminal in TWRP, delete the Active Edge Module.
Now you can boot and reinstall that module.

Oneplus 5T OOS 10.0.1 Magisk 22.1 Rooting

Hello everyone,
so my Oneplus 5T broke a week ago and I bought another one for 80 bucks on Ebay. I tried to root the Phone with TWRP 3.5.2_9.0, OOS 10.0.1 and Magisk 22.1.
I disabled force encryption on my previous 5T without a problem, but now when I install Magisk with the ROM, no matter if I flash it over TWRP or flash the patched boot image over fastboot, I can access the internet, but can't download anything. It worked after I booted just the ROM and then flashed the boot image over fastboot.
Now I can't get the disable force encryption to work. When I try to flash the Zip over TWRP the phone doesn't boot at all. Also the device behaves laggy, even after multiple reboots.
Then I tried installing OOS 9.0.11, then Magisk and then my disable force encryption zip over TWRP 3.4.0 and it worked immediately.
Can somebody tell me how I can get the root with disabled force encryption on OOS 10.0.1? It worked previously with TWRP 3.5.0_9.0, but now it doesn't.
Thanks for any answer in general.
I don't know why but it works now
