It is available if you're on:
-Android Oreo just hold the recents button (bottom right - square)
-Android Pie go to recents (tap square or swipe up from home if you're using gestures), then tap on the app's icon on top then choose split screen to activate split screen mode. Cheers. :good:

Stock, no way (at least that I know of), but why would you want that?? There are 2 dedicated buttons for back & recent!

Pop up window swipe shortcut missing in Pie?

Hi
You used to be able to swipe from the top right corner of most apps to make them go into windowed "pop-up view".
I can't seem to do this since updating to Android 9. Does anyone know if this can be enabled in Pie?
Correct, this option is missing post Pie update. Only available option is Multi-window

Actually you can put apps into windowed mode. But its not as convenient as swiping down from the top corner.
You go into recents, tap on the app icon in the top middle of the recent app and select pop up view from that menu.
Hi !
I search a way to launch an app, like phone or calculator, directly in pop up view.
Is there any way in xda for that ? [emoji53]

Yes you can.
Install nicelock app and from apkmirror download and install MULTISTAR.apk. Once you have both installed, open nicelock and launch multistar from there.
You'll find that settings inside.

Floating windows gone?

I've upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy S7 to Galaxy S20. The S7 was on Android 8 and had the option of swiping diagonally from the corner and having floating windows. This feature is NOT the split screen view, but each enabled app could literally "float" on screen and be resized. This way I could have videos playing in Youtube and have something else such as a browser or other app open in another.
The S20 does not seem to have this any more. I have looked in all the menus and played with the recents buttonand can only get split screen.
I also did a search and could not find anything. Any other S20 owners find the same issue or have you found a way to get the floating windows?
Note: the S7 did have multi windows as a specific listed configurable item in the settings menu. S20 doesn't seem to.
There are 3 ways to do that:
1. Go to Recents - > Press and hold the app you want to open in a pop-up view until a blue rectangle overlay appears - > Release the finger and it will float.
2. Go to Recents - > Click on the name of the app in the left upper corner - > Choose open in pop-up view.
3. Install Fine Lock Launcher from Google Play Store - > Install Multistar from Apkmirror (it's an app from Samsung) - > It has the exact option you're looking for and more. Just customise it to your liking.

Thanks for that! I overlooked it as it was labelled "pop up".:good:

TapTap (double tap on back gesture ported from Android 11) by XDA developer Quinny899

Description: Tap, Tap is a port of the double tap on back of device gesture from Android 11 to any Android 7.0+ device. It allows you to use the gesture to launch apps, control the device (including pressing the home, back and recents buttons), take a screenshot, toggle the flashlight, open your assistant and more. Using "gates", you're able to block the gesture from working in scenarios such as when the screen is off, when you're on a call, when an app is open and more. (taken from original thread)

This app works great on Black Shark 3 pro.
sometimes the aggressive memory / battery management closes the app but works fine otherwise.
doesn't work well
it just locks the screen off but doesn't wake at all from sleep properly.
How do I download?

Old style back, home and recent button

On Android 13 there is a setting to bring back 3 button navigation.

Would love this if you know where I can find it, thanka
Found it, thank you very much
Short guide:
Tap the Settings icon to launch the Settings app. Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
Scroll down to the Interaction Controls section and tap System controls.
Tap System navigation.
Tap 3-button navigation or Gesture navigation.
Tap the Settings button next to Gesture navigation to change the sensitivity of the screen to the Back swipe gesture. Use the Left edge and Right edge sliders to tune it
Might there also be a setting (maybe within Nova?) to switch the return and app buttons? On my galaxy they were the other way around and it's quite annoying on my pixel 7 pro :')
