Hi All
I had my device bootloader unlocked, and rooted, TWRP, on Pie January update.
For some reason my device downloaded the March Update itself, and I accidentally clicked the update (restart the phone).
The things that I can do now
1. Vol down + power to fastboot
2. Vol Up + power, it displays no command, but press again, it goes to Android Recovery.
What can I do to fix it please? Can I save/back up all my data now?
I need urgent help please.
The only idea I can think of is trying to reinstall the firmware from your pc, although you will lose root access

Just downlaod latest fastboot rom and extract it (right click: extract here - if there´s no such option, download and install winrar).
Download Miflash (Google it), install it and choose the folder you extracted. Now it´s important that you choose on th lower right side of the window the option "save userdata"
Reboot your phone to fastboot mode and connect it. Now you can click on "flash", wait until it succeeded and enjoy our good old system!
i have another idea, dont know whether it will work.
can i use fastboot mode to flash the january patch to my phone?
because it is what i had before, and the problem happens when i installed march update. so by doing this, i am rolling back to the previous version.
what result do you expect please?

you need stock recovery and stock rom unrooted
I'm rooted, I can't install this update and the notification is really getting on my nerves (I mean REALLY), since I can't get rid of it.
Is there any way to modify the zip so I'll be able to install it?

Unroot, install the update and root again?
Since the update is not changing Android version etc. rooting again after the update should be as easy as initially rooting your phone.
This update adds also a NFC icon onto notification bar if you have NFC enabled. On stock rom you can't remove that icon unless you disable NFC. Annoying!
Hi guys,

You need only to revert to stock recovery ( & stock rom if dont have it ) but not need to undo root. Then you can install the update.
Useful link: triple w androidauthority.com/one-x-revert-stock-recovery-76854
I followed this instructions and it worked.
1.Download the Fastboot package (Fasboot.zip, 404 kB) and Extract to your computer.
2.Download the stock recovery image for the HTC One X (endeavoru_recovery_signed.img, md5sum: 4af6f2b658d2e13f72e928a72fcde9cd).
-> google will help with this
3. Reboot your phone into Bootloader Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down the Volume Down key and Power button. Select Fastboot Mode from the bootloader menu and connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.
Open Command Window in the directory (containing fastboot and endeavoru_recovery_signed.img)
4. To confirm that your phone has successfully made a connection with your computer, type this command at the command prompt window and press Enter afterward:
fastboot devices
If the phone’s serial number is shown on the screen, then the device has successfully connected with your computer. Otherwise, your computer is unable to communicate with the phone.
5.To flash the stock recovery image to your phone, type the command below and press Enter afterward:
fastboot flash recovery endeavoru_recovery_signed.img.
6. Once installation is complete, reboot your HTC One X with the following command:
fastboot reboot
7. Now you are ready to install the update.

Hi.
Yesterday, i rooted my phone and installed xposed. it worked great. But with that + busybox + amplify + supersu, the game i play a lot didn't let me play (unauthorized program detected).
so i try to delete supersu or amplify, but it still didn't work.
So i uninstall xposed, unrooted my phone.... But it still doesn't work!
so i uninstall the game and try to install it. but during installation (downloading data), it crashed.
So i did a factory reset, tried to install my game, but it always crashes during installation!
I'm desesperate!!! it never did this to me before!
Plus, i'm still in 139 version of asus. I tried to update it yesterday (to 160 version), but it crashed!!!!!!!! and it doesn't want to try to install it again (it's like there is no upgrade)
and there is some buggy moment when the keyboard doesn't appear ect...
I have enough! i desesperaly need help!!! my phone never got problem before except battery, but now, i'm desesperate! i shouldn't have try to root it!
is there something i can do? reinstall root and xposed and remove them with another way?
please, i really need your help ... if i have know it was this troublesome, i wouldn't try anything! i want my phone back!
Please, i really need you... thank you...

i succeeded making my game work (at least! i'm so damn happy!) by wiping cache partition.
but when i do "check updates", there is nothing.
But no problem, i'm scared of touching the phone again, i stay with the 139 version >__>.
thanks anyway, but i won't do anything with a computer. my phone can stay the way it is. i'm scared of having problem again... the only thing i'm gonna do, is using apk or this kind of thing. but no root anymore...

Go to the pre-rooted roms thread and download the latest rom.
Make sure you have the fastboot tools, put the rom.img file in there, rename to system.img if it isn't already and flash with fastboot...
1. Hold down volume up and power, keep holding until you get to download mode, press up volume.
2. Connct to PC. Go to the folder you have the fastboot tools in and hold SHIFT then press right mouse button and select "Open CMD window here".
3. Type "fastboot devices", if you have done everything right then you will get the serial number displayed otherwise you need to update drivers.
4 Type "fastboot flash system system.img".
It will break the rom into about 5 parts to flash, just let it go, it will give a prompt when finished...
5. Type "fastboot reboot", your phone will reboot, be updated and have root while leaving all apps there.
Be aware that there may be problems running xposed and that may have been what killed your phone...
If you do install anything, before doing the OTA again, reflash the pre-rooted rom again and you should be able to update with the OTA with no problem...
Good luck...

i don't want to root my phone anymore (too much trouble, and the game i play a lot doesn't like root... i won't try it again. pissed me off 2 days ago that it didn't work even when i unrooted my phone)...
i just wait for the marshmallow update (and hope that the phone will propose me the update and i won't have to make it manually).

I just bought a brand new Nexus 7 16 GB wrapped in it's plastic unused. Charged it turned it on, as expected it's on 4.3.
Problem is when I check for updates it says the tablet is up to date and will not update to 6.0 which I believe is the latest this tab will go to.
Question is will this self correct if left on or will I need to manually update using OTA update from a PC. Also if I do need to manually update will I need to find and install every intervening update between 4.3 and 6.0?
It'll be easiest to use the factory image to flash it to 6.0.
If you go the OTA route you'd have to go through every update individually to get to 6.0.

Download ADB from here and install: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Download the image, making sure you have the correct one. I'm assuming you have a Wi-Fi version so it would then be the "Razor": https://developers.google.com/android/images#razor
Boot into the bootloader by powering off, then holding the power and volume down buttons simultaneously.
Connect to your computer with the USB cable, open a CMD, or terminal, window and type fastboot oem unlock. That will wipe the device. I don't remember if it reboots automatically afterward. if so boot back into the bootloader the same as before.
Extract the system image. Open the extracted folder then if you're on Windows just double click the flash-all.bat file. after it's done it will ultimately reboot to Android.
-edit: If you're adventurous once in the bootloader you can flash TWRP and the Oreo Go ROM from here.

Thanks so much, managed to get it to 6.1 and all is working fine.
Hello,
So today I wanted to install a Magisk module, after rebooting, it got me to a bootloop, I erased ALL DATA on adb mode (power botton and volume up). then started all over.
But the Bootloader was still unlocked (because before, I had root), The febuary update was impossible to install, so I thought, maybe locking the OEM may fix it, so I tried tool called " TOOL ALL IN ONE " that claims to have full support for my device.
After trying to OEM Lock, I get a friendly greeting that says " System has been destroyed " .
Trying to go back into ADB mode isn't working.
I have no idea if the OEM was locked, nor how to fix the phone.
I've heard of Mi Flash, but will it work on a Android One device? if so, PLEASE provide me with how to do so (in a noobie friendly way if possible)
If it'll help, I'm running on Pie with January update. No TWRP/Magisk. no current Root access.
UPDATE: I wanted to wait for an answer from you guys but I took a leap of faith and typed " fastboot oem unlock " and the phone was unlocked (showing unlocked on Android One boot screen). That got the system to start a boot! But I think it's bootlooping now. I tried entering ADB mode and I was succefully able to! then I selected to delete all data ( This helped me before to fix the bootloop ). then rebooted.
and right while I am typing this. I see a beautiful Hi there sign!!!
Bois, The phone is up and Running!!! but with all data now gone (ofc).
But still, The OEM is unlocked, Can you please recommend me a proper way to lock it?

Is the "ota dump" is on February update?
can I auto update easily after this or will I have to install the ota(s) manually in the future?
Are you sure that locking the oem after installing the ota won't give a system has been destroyed?
and finally, is it possible to enable Camera 2 API in the middle of the operation? Before locking the oem.
Many thanks!

You can use MiFlash on this phone and not get your hands dirty with the method mentioned above. Grab the latest available stock ROM from here: https://en.miui.com/download-354.html
Download MiFlash(latest if possible). Turn off the phone and go to fastboot mode (vol down + power). Connect the phone to PC. Open MiFlash and select ROM location then click refresh, your device should be seen now. On the bottom you have options choose one then click start. DON'T interrupt the process when it's flashing.

Thank you, I'm currently dowloading the stock ROM from the link you provided.
I have some questions about this,
1-you mentioned the options at the bottom, can you explain every one of them, is it as good as it sounds? one of the options is " save user data " of course i'd prefer to save my data IF it's possible and won't ruin the procces. does the "clean data and lock" can result in the System has been destroyed sign? because currently, even if i have a fresh clean all data on my phone, whenever i try to lock the bootloader (from my pc) it says system has been destroyed, If yes, will updates work fine via the settings thing or I will have to do this manually anyways? in other words, will having the oem locked give me any benefits? I'm not intrested in any warrenty/security thing.
2- if I had Magisk with root, and some of it's modules and maybe Camera 2 API enabled and I installed an update rom using Mi Flash, are they going to be deleted?
3-will this rom replace the original that i have on my phone? and my og one will be perma deleted? if I deleted all data after this procces, will it take me to a fresh instalation of this rom? or the one I had before?
4- will my phone remain unlocked after using Mi Flash with the first two options in the bottom (not "clean all and lock" ) ?
I really apologize for asking so many questions!
1- you can try save user data but the phone may not boot, I don't know the reason but I had bricked mine once and tried to flash the stock and save my data, somehow it didn't work. Try it for yourself and if it doesn't boot, flash the ROM again via MiFlash and select clean all and lock. Clean all and lock basically cleans the device, returns it to stock ROM and locks the bootloader, makes your device basically unused, you will have to set it up from scratch. If you use the clean all and lock or the clean all option, phone will boot normally and you can have updates without any problems. Locked bootloader means you can't do any changes to partitions of the device, which is good if you're not planning on rooting etc. You can have updates with either locked or unlocked BL unless of course you haven't tampered with the partitions of the device. I like locked BL because when you unlock the BL it shows another screen when booting, which I personally don't like.
2-MiFlash returns everything to stock, you will definitely lose magisk and root and the modules you installed on Magisk because using MiFlash flashes the original boot.img which makes Magisk useless. You can however get temporary root access and enable cam2API via ADB then lock the bootloader but you need to be careful with the process because you may lose your data (Locking/Unlocking BL erases all data but there's a way to bypass that)
3-As of now, the link I provided has the 10.0.3.0 (january update), if you've downloaded it your phone will install stock(from xiaomi) Pie ROM with January security patches. I forgot to write this update has issues with SIM (reverses SIM1 to SIM2) so I suggest grabbing V10.0.2.0.PDLMIFJ (Fastboot image) from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/ota-v9-6-4-0-odlmiff-t3823913 then flashing it via MiFlash then updating to newer versions through settings.
4- if you choose "save user data" or "clean all" your phone will stay unlocked, if you choose "clean all and lock" you will have a locked bootloader. :good:

Thank you so much for the helpful answers!
So I flashed my phone with the first link you provided ( January update ) using Mi Flash and the option to save user data, It worked perfectly fine. not just that, but I was Finally able to get the February update using the option in the settings, I'm not aware of the SIM problem you mentioned, but i'm not experiencing any major bugs right now.
I want to get camera 2 API but I'll wait till March update to bring it ( if it exists, and launched within the first 10 days ). If the March update didn't carry with Camera 2 API enabled, I'll have to do it myself.
One last question please, How to enable the cam 2 API without magisk or touching something that may stop the built-in updater from installing? how to make it (and maybe Magisk too) survive flashing an OTA?. Will the option "save user data" protect them from getting Snapped™ ?

I don't think Xiaomi will ever let this phone have Cam2API. They even broke GCam functionality on Pie update (on Oreo Gcam worked fine but now every Gcam has focus issues). Yes, bootloader's still unlocked and i have acces to fastboot.
Find "Mi A2 Lite toolkit V 1.0.4.2" and use it to flash stock 8.1, it will do all the magic with a few clicks, just don't interrupt it until your phone restarts and you get the "Welcome" screen. After you can do the upgrade to Pie via OTA.

If it was too simply ... I think i did that already, But fastboot room, what do you mean with that ?
I just want, now, to be sure, can i save my phone ? It's not dead ?
Cause it's a very good phone and i don't want to loose it, really.
Nope, it's not dead, even with locked bootloader it wouldn't be. But now that you've got an unlocked bootloader, it's very easy to restore
I'm more happy so, 5 hours ( no fake really ) i search a solution .... SO
I found a global rom without .bat files in this folder so i got an error with Mi Flash Tool .. Tell me more about your idea
What's the error if I may ask?

-Tente isso:
Download this official rom: https://en.miui.com/download-354.html
Download this Mi Flash Tool: http://api.en.miui.com/url/MiFlashTool
*I'm assuming you already have the ADB drivers installed on your PC
*Remember to check the CLEAN ALL option
-If the above method does not work, do the following:
* It will only work if you do not have TWRP installed, if it is with twrp installed, I recommend reinstalling the original recovery *
1-Turn off the device and press (POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP). At that point, the android doll will appear and spelled 'NO COMMAND'
2-Press only (POWER BUTTON) and click quickly (VOLUME UP BUTTON). In this screen you will see the recovery options, use the volume buttons to go to the WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET option, confirm with YES and restart the device.
3- Wait patiently for 3/5 minutes.
-If none of this works and you can still access twrp, I recommend you try installing a GSI rom using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-functional-twrp-magisk-pie-gsi-t3900119
I recommend this GSI rom (I'm using this now): https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gsi (choose 'arm64-ab')
This will give you a working system and make it easier to return to stock.
Hope one of these methods helped!

If u alredy used twrp den u have adb.
U need mi flash tool.
Download any one of the full fastboot roms for Mi A2 Lie below:
9.6.4.0: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/10399/
9.6.10.0: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/10867/
10.0.3: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/11586/
So to revive ur fone, u do dis. Dis was how i did mine.
1. After downloading a rom of choice, u extract on ur pc using winrar, 7zip or izarc. U basically open the archive using any of these software n copy out the folder contained. The name usually starts with "daisy global ...."
2. U open the extracted rom folder. U will see a bunch of files including "flash_all.bat" etc and a folder called "images".
3. Click on the address bar of d rom folder and copy the address. Den open "mi flash tool" and paste d copied address in the mi flash tool address bar n click on refresh.
4. Boot ur phone to fastboot mode, using "power" & "volume down" buttons together.
connect d phone to ur pc via usb cable.
5. Open ur adb folder and open the adb command window.
Type in the following, one after the other n click enter:
" fastboot devices " dis to confirm the adb connection
" fastboot oem edl " dis to enter edl mode. Ur fone led starts blinking at 1sec intervals.
6. Back to mi flash tool, u click on "refresh". After a second ur fone should be seen as a COM port "COM 10"
7. At d bottom right, u shd find 3 options. Selct "clean all". This shd leave ur bootloader unlocked after the process.
8. U click on "flash" button at the top right. All things going well, within 10 mins the process shd be done and u will see "green" indicator with "success".
9. Hold ur fone n press d power botton for 10 secs. Then ur fone shd power up. Give ur fone exactly about 5 mins to come up "look at the clock & dnt assume"
Dis is an edit of others tutorials. But this is exactly how it worked for me. As long as u use any of the 3 roms i linked u.
Unless i use edl mode, it jus doesnt work for me.
Good luck. Leta know how it goes. And pls click thanks if i helped u.
Problem solved
