Random behaviour while jogging - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

I don't know if this has been already reported, it's not a screen waking up in pocket issue. I don't have the version with dt2w.
When I go jogging, the phone randomly skips or pauses tracks, raises volume (never lowers). I use Pulsar music player but it happens also with other players. I have disabled battery optimiziation for these apps but it happens also with optimization on. It happens both if I keep the phone in a pocket or in my hand, sometimes even when I am looking at it and I'm sure the screen is not waking up.
Any idea? I am thinking to perform a factory reset or eventually root and install a new Rom, which ones are recommended for stability and bug-free?

Do you have a case on? Perhaps case is partially pushing buttons? I had this happen on a previous device

Mmmmm, yes I do have a case. I will try without it. But anyway, that would only explain the raising volume, not the playback pause or the song skip (afaik there's no key combination for that).

I've experienced this on my Daisy. If that happens, unplug your earphones then plug it back in. Check if the headphones symbol on the phone have a mic on it. If it does, unplug it then plug it in again until it does not have a mic. This happens when you plug-in an earphone, or any 3.5 jack for that matter, that does not have a microphone and the phone recognizes it having a microphone. Hope this helps!

It happens to me as well, but I think the problem has something to do with the proximity sensor. As long as I keep the phone with the screen facing my leg, my player randomly pauses and skip tracks. If I turn it around, the problem disappears. I think it has to do with DTW.

Thanks to your suggestion, I noticed that when I first plug the jack in, it's detected as without microphone. Then I start jogging, the audio pauses/skips/volume up, I take the phone out of my pouch and I find the earphones now is detected as having the microphone.

That was the first thing I thought, but to me it happens both with the phone facing my body or outside.
Combining yours and my feedback, I think I found out where the problem is. Apparently, the jack slot in this phone is not so solid so when you shake the phone running or whatever, the jack "moves" inside the slot. This causes the phone to lose headset connection and therefore pausing the music and likely also wakes up the screen and causes the track skipping. As for the volume raising, I still have to figure it out.
I will try bluetooth headsets on my next run and report back here.

With bluetooth headsets, there's no issue at all. The problem must actually be the "shaking" jack.

I've also encountered this problem with my own headphones. I solved it by putting just a little amount of tape on the part I circled in the image below.
The headphones take a little to be recognized by the phone (just a few more seconds) but after doing this the problem was gone.

Windows Phone 7 Zune Music problem

Hello,
I have a Windows Phone 7 Tango (Pdaimatejam) 7.8, and I experienced this problem with Mango too (Way too many times).
The problem is, when I have music playing in my pocket (or just through an AUX cable in the car), the music just stops, resumes, stops, resumes, and then stops playing all together. This is so annoying, especially while driving. And sometimes, randomly, "Microsoft Listen" or something comes up, the voice recognition.
Can anyone help me? This is one of the most annoying bugs I've encountered, and it's impossible to use it on a regular basis that way.
Also mentioning, that this problem starts after awhile of listening to music.
i had a problem similiar to this where the volume would goto full blast but it was from the 3.5 jack and i changed aux cables to one that fit better and it stopped

Yeah, but I can't just change my headphones jack or my inbuilt aux cable (It's sort of a stupid hack by Mazda representative)

Make sure you don't sit on the headphone cable... Lol...
Microsoft Tellme? There is only 2 ways to get it : Press and hold the Windows Button / Press and hold the Call button on the handfree headset.

I'm not sitting on the cable, and it came up randomly, while listening to music. Didn't have a call button.

Hard Reset the phone is more like it now... do it, and see if it fix your problem. If not, it is time to call the operator, give them a dispatch and have a new device, lol
It looks like your headset needs replacement. Mine does that to me on my Titan. When the cable is under my coat, it accidentally stops as it's pressed a little by mistake.
Also, the way the jack makes the contact with your phone could be another cause. I had/have but don't use HTC Sensation XL, and it did the same with the beats audio that comes with it. The jack doesn't fit properly. Hence a little angled movement and songs break. Play, pause.
With Windows Phone it's more likely to stop even if your jack is a lil out of the socket since as soon as the headphone is removed, the music stops by default.

[Q] HELP Audio/Headphone totally messed up, hardware or software problem?

I have tried almost everything to fix this problem but i just can't.
When i connect my headphone (beats and normal Samsung one) to the phone and click on play or next/previous button, nothing happens. The phone wont recognize the buttons. 4 days ago everything worked perfectly. It just suddenly happened. I was on AOKP milestone 4.
When it happened the first time, 4 days ago, i thought it might be a problem in the ROM so i wiped everything and rebooted phone. Still the same. I then re flashed the ROM several times and it was still the same. So i just got angry and put phone away. Then after 14 hours or something i plugged headphone back in the phone and opened up poweramp. Then i hit play button on headphone and suddenly it worked. I was happy, but after 1 minute i hit pause button and phone wouldn't recognize it. I kept plugging and unplugging the headphone and after several tries it worked again for a minute or two, then it didn't. This made me think it is a software problem. But when i had headphone plugged in and let music play and unplugging the headphone, the music kept playing, with no sound (Music was playing when headphone was plugged in, but then i unplugged it, but music didn't stop like it usually does when u unplug the headphone). Now the speaker didn't work. After some minutes later it magically worked again.
Now i was wondering if it is a hardware problem. Another thing to mention is that when this happens(no sound after unplugging the headphone) the phone sensor in dialer wont work. When i make a phone call to someone, the phone sensor wont work, meaning, the phone wont go black when i lift it up to my ear. Also no sound from the front speaker. So i have to use headphone to call someone, until the phone speaker works again. Then the dialer sensor will work again.
I have tried about 3 ROMS and they are all the same. I have now flashed stock Google 4.0.4 and it's still the same. Now unrooted.
Please if you don't understand some parts of my problem, ask and i will try to answer in a better way.
Will take a video soon, hopefully it will be easier to see what problem i have.
Video 1: Here I have just rebooted the phone and opened music app to see if the button on headphone works. As you can see it works the first time i plug it in. But after that it doesn't work. You can also see that once i remove the headphone, while music is playing, the phone speaker wont work. !!! Something i forgot to show you... You can see that phone speaker wont work when i unplug the headphone, but when i click up and down volume button on the phone buttons, you can hear them. Its only the music/movie/dialer etc that doesn't work.
Video 2 : Here i am testing the beats headphone, just to show you that it isn't the Samsung headphones fault.
Video 3: Here i am showing you that the phone sensor wont work in dialer.
Video 4: This one is very strange. I have plugged in the headphone, but when i click volume buttons on phone, you can hear it from the back speaker. This shouldn't happen right? I mean when the headphone is plugged in, then all sounds should be coming from the headphone, not the phone speaker.
Bump. Any suggestions?
*For the last 2 days the buttons actually worked for several hours, but as soon as i take them out, they wont work for god knows how long...
Ok if no one knows anything, can someone give me some advice on what to say when I return the phone? I still have warranty but don't know if this will be covered by it. Also i have just flashed stock google 4.0.4 ROM, but is there anything else I should before returning the phone? Phone is bought from Netcom Norway.

Moving Earphones slightly turns off music.

For a while now i have had the problem that whenever i even touch the earphone plug slightly it turns off the music. Whenever it moved in my pocket my music or audiobook immediately stops playing.
I already cleaned the hole i plug my earphones or headset into but it didnt change. This is horribly annoying, what could be the source and solution to this problem?
still have this problem. havent gotten a reply, yet.

Audio apps issue - tracks skipping, erratic volume and reboots

Over the past week I have had a few issues with audio apps on my phone - Google Music, Audioboom, Soundcloud etc.
When my headphones are plugged in and audio is playing, tracks randomly pause or skip to the next one in the queue, and sometimes the volume starts changing by itself. I am also getting frequent reboots when playing audio with headphones as well.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue with the Mi Max? I am on the latest XenonHD rom. Could be faulty headphones perhaps?
Thanks in advance for any advice on this one
Have you recently replaced screen or just opened rear battery cover?
Had same symptoms, volume up-down, viper on-off, tracks pausing and so on.
My problem was: replaced recently screen with frame. Appeared that the frame was not 100% match, earphone jack was in the phone under pressure. Had to open the battery cover for about half a millimeter, stucked in a piece of platic.
Everything works now.
Ordered new frame.

I haven't changed the screen or anything...
I'm hoping the issue lies with my headphones (as they are not too expensive) or some software issue I can fix by flashing the rom again - a hardware issue like you had may be more difficult to solve!
I'll try some other headphones, and if that fails I may just reflash the rom. If that fails it will seem to indicate a hardware problem....

Headphone music playback unplugs/replugs over and over

Hey anyone have any audio issues on this phone or possibly another MIUI device? Here's what I'm getting:
Usually, I plug in my headphones and right away I get great volume and my player auto-plays. But as it keeps playing the music pauses for a second and then resumes automatically. The headphones icon disappears in the notification area for that time when the music stops. I thought it may be Poweramp's issue but the same thing happens in the default MIUI Music app. (Playing MP3s from SD card - haven't tried streaming apps yet.)
If I unplug and replug the headphones from the audio jack, the same thing happens still. But after I unplug and replug a bunch of times, eventually the music suddenly starts playing at about half the volume it was initially, and the problem no longer occurs! To clarify, the volume is still set to 100% but the actual output volume is only half as loud as it was initially when the problem occurs.
There's no MIUI audio settings I can find that could be responsible for this.. Any ideas??
This happened to me too, the problem is in outdated headphones jack. Try a few other ones, the newer versions of the handsfree will fit accordingly.

Interesting. Just to clarify, you're saying that the device I'm plugging into my phone (headphones) is the problem, right? It would make sense why other speakers I've plugged in haven't had this issue.. I wonder why it'd be happening since I've never run into this issue with any other phone and I've had these headphones for many years now.

Yes the device is fault. When you plug in the jack, the headphone icon starts blinking right? it goes on and off and keeps on until you force it to play some song.. I had been using my favorite headphones for 1.5 years and i had to buy new ones when i bought this phone because they wont work properly.
