HDR on YouTube is a hit or miss - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Not supposed to function that way I have to force close the app and launch it again just to watch for the HDR to kick in. I can't find NO guide on how to fix this. Anyone?
Sent from my EVR-L29 using Tapatalk

Probably it depends on which YT video has HDR and which not. Or you have the problem the same YT video has HDR and next time it has no HDR?

How do you get HDR on YouTube?
Sent from my EVR-L29 using Tapatalk

New update don't fix this either lol. Kinda ridiculous it feels faster and more snappy but the HDR problem still exists

Video quality uploaded on Youtube

Hello
I uploaded 1080p and 720p videos taken with my Note 2 on Youtube. But then the quality is very bad when im watching them on the youtube app frop the phone. Even in HQ. Is this normal ?
Same thing watching them from a computer in 480p ( i have to choose 720p streaming minimum to have it quite ok but for me its a lof of time to load) but I have seen some video test taken with the Note 2 and they look fine in 360p.
Anyone experienced it or has a solution ?
Can you give us a link to the YouTube video so we can see what's going on?
I haven't uploaded video into YouTube from this phone, but I don't see why the quality would be poor.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
you have to wait for a while for YouTube to work on the video first.

really ? I'll wait a few days then and see what happens.
Just checked from the phone, it's HD, no problem with that. Quality looks okay.
One thing, in phone, HQ and HD are two completely different things. HQ could be 480P but HD is 720P.

The quality is hd and looks fine on my phone. What exactly aren't you happy with? Does it look blurry? Blocky? Jerky?

Thanks for playing my video.
This is the quality I have with the HQ activated.
I'm not sure this is an okay quality, i've seen better. You both had the same kind of view ?
Even played it with my LG phone, its the same.
Just so we clear, I just have to click on the HQ button on the bottom left corner right ?

I'm not sure if this screen capture will be posted in high quality, but the one you posted does look very low resolution.

The uploader on xda app only proposes me 640x360 max size.
But we can see my quality is completely different from yours no ?
You cant even identify childrens face lol ! I have no clue

Again, if the video is 720P, then it should show HD button, not HQ, on your Note.

It is a 1080p video ! First you should try it on your computer you'll see the quality is very bad in 360.
And I have never seen a HD button on youtube android app, only HQ. Have you ? Its the same with my LG phone, shows HQ.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Well I rarely see videos which show HQ. I see HD most of the time.

I feel dumb lol. I found the reason why I havent got it HD. using WiFi gives me HD. but 3G network doesnt. I always use Mobile data.
I really have a good network connection, the carrier or Youtube must have blocked HD videos. still, my 3G HQ quality really sucks then
thanks for your time
now for the second part of the matter, is this normal 360p using the computer to stream is such a bad quality ?

Do you have a compression app like Onavo Extend running? Maybe the video is being compressed to save bandwidth on playback?
Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
The native YouTube app on our phones only support HQ on mobile data. HD on wifi.
There is a hacked YouTube app on XDA which allows HD on mobile data, but you need to root to be able to install it.
I'm using it at the moment and it's beautiful.
It's got nothing to do with your carrier blocking HD on mobile data, just the YouTube app itself.
Try the hacked YouTube app here on XDA.

bad Video Quality????

I've notice Netflix, Hulu and HBO go all seem to play blurry on the GS4.
My iPhone and iPad play those videos perfect.
Anyway to fix it or just have to wait till the update those apps.
I'm assuming most apps will need to be updated to better support 1080p screens.

Hope they update those apps soon. Youtube on the other hand looks great.

Accidently uninstalled those beautiful preloaded QHD videos

Anybody want to tell me how to get them back on my device?

wat
Thank you for uploading it to drop box, BUT when I try to download a toast pops up telling me that this object isn't supported on my device. I then navigated to the downloads app, and there was a green lock on both of those videos. I'm fairly new to android, but I'm thinking this has something to do with the permissions within the gallery, because I remember that same green lock when I used to watch those video's so maybe it has something to do with them being locked? And I factory reset after I moved the video's to a different holder's which is how I got rid of them in the first place.
Any reason why you want these videos? If it's for the sole purpose of showing off your screen YouTube has a much better selection of 4k videos check this one out http://youtu.be/EgKXcQ9PLuc

Why don't you try "Tubemate" for Android? You can download highest quality of videos but you got to sacrifice your data for those quality videos or just use wi-fi
Just don't go over your data plan! Hahaha!

Can we get on lg g2 and its btw license protected downloaded but cnt play dem on g2.
I believe the licence for each video is linked to each device so we cannot load the video from another device.
I don't seem to have them either however I don't remember deleting them...
Get your lg g3 back original
Have you tried factory restore? It always worked for me.
I downloaded both of these from the Dropbox links and they work fine for me. D851.

So, i created a thread in the verizon community about the pre-installed videos and was given a link to somones dropbox with both the videos and they work flawlessly. I downloaded them directly to my phone from his dropbox links, but cant link the damn things to XDA yet because I need at least 10 posts so if you want the link you can PM me or search the verizon community for "LG G3 pre-installed demo videos". I think the fact that we have the Verizon variant of the phone might have something to do with not being able to play the videos that were uploaded to this thread. Cheers!
When I flashed stock Rom to get red off root the video has been gone this weird
3 preloaded audio files
Can any body post the links dor the 3 lg themes that came pre installed i also deleted those and i cant find. Them any where

What kind of SD card are you using? It should be a certain speed in order to record and play 4k smoothly. If it is too slow, it'll be choppy and skip oftenly.

YouTube only 480p

A lot of YouTube video's are only watchable in 480p, but oneplus 3 has a 1080p display. How to fix this ?
( Btw, the video's are not uploaded in 480p )
TIA
Must be a setting in your phone. Here everything in 1080p on my OPO3
try clearing cache. (maybe delete app data) I had this issue on my old phone.
for a permanent fix try using the 1080p 60fps guide on xda (just linked below)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-how-to-enable-720p-1080p-60fps-t3406072
I found out that i only have this problem with a few channels, i can watch other channels in 1080p.
And i don't have a rooted device
Clearing cache, data, etc. didn't work
For example,
I can watch this one in 1080p :
And I can watch this one only in 480p :
Same problem here and yes it is only with some channels. The option just isn't there
Maybe your data connection? When I'm on a weak connection I can't seem to get a high resolution either. Also YouTube settings change to 1080.
Same problem for me too. Wth...

3.1.2 and yeah I'm rooted with xposed. I'm getting a replacement for weak/intermittent signal for Wi-Fi and network. I'm curious if it's gonna happen on the new one.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
I'm only on wifi, with the speedtest.net app i tested my connection and it is around 90 mbps, so i don't think that that is the problem
Same problem here.
I'm also having the exact same issue. Both on LTE and Wi-Fi, complete stock not even rooted.
I cleared the YouTube app data and it seems to be working correctly now.
Correction, not all vids to be corrected. It seems like if the video is offered with 1080p and 60fps then we only get the option for 480p. No idea why.
I have the same annoying problem. All videos only show 480p option. I'm stock on OOS 3.1.2.
Edit: Tried watching a 4K video (I know our display is only 1080p) but in this video it gave me the option for 1080p but on videos that are in 1080p it only gives me the option for 480p wth?
Extremely frustrating. It doesn't make any sense at all.
