We’re really excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Pie betas.
On first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those who are unfamiliar, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhances the overall user experience.
The beta builds include adjustments and improvements on top of the stock Android CAF base. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features.
Device-specific issues
- DT2W
- Camera crashes if it detects a face
Note: Custom kernels are NOT supported!

a many thanks @33bca for your hard work you put into developing for our a2 lite
what bothers me most before trying your pa rom is the question if i can revert back to stock (inlcuding a/B Partitons and Stock Recovery, Encryption ) without any problem ? and if so what steps do i have to do to revert back to stock ?
normaly i would just make a backup from within twrp of my stock Phone and then do a restore if needed but as i unterstand it right thats not possible at the moment with the extisting versions of twrp for our a2 lite ? so maybe just get a2 lite into fastboot mode and flash an original fastboot image ?
Nice thanks ?
and some more questions @33bca on your instructions to install the rom:
Requirements
* Required * firmware version must be based on P-based builds.
so one must have 10.0.3.0 or 10.0.4.0 version of stock firmware on the a2 lite?
Formatting data (all user data is wiped, including internal storage) is a must if the storage was encrypted previously.
how do i find out if phone is encrypted or not ? if i goto settings and then security & location - advanced and if there under encryption and credentials at encrypt phone it says encrypted - then i have to format data (from whithin stock rom or from within twrp ?
Instructions:
Boot recovery from fastboot (TWRP recovery for Mi A2 Lite)
so here i use your bootable twrp img file (from your first link) with the command "fastboot boot recovery twrp-daisy-3.2.3-0-offain.img" ?
Format /system and /data
ist this the step you mention in the requirements or to i have to do this additionally to the step in the requirements ?
Install AOSPA zip package
just flash your pa rom within twrp ?
Install [optional] TWRP flashable
so here i flash the twrp (flashable from your second link) within twrp ?
and finally when should the "Forced encryption disabler" be flashed right after first time booting into twrp or after formating system and data ?
Yeah I need more detailed instructions to get this work ?

Introduction
Pitch Black Recovery is a fork of TWRP with many improvements to make your experience better. It's more flexible & easy to use.
This particular build is based on the amazing work done by the PBRP team and Joyeuse devs with some little changes to get it working on Curtana.
This build is really experimental so flash at your own risk.
However, the main use cases are fully covered as the most important functions of the recovery are working correctly.
Working
Data decryption
Flash
Wipe and format data
Backup and restore
Bugs
ADB sideload
Flashing Magisk results in bootloop: if you want to use Magisk you can patch a "boot.img" file from Magisk Manager and then flash that img to the Boot partition from recovery.
The recovery always asks for encryption password, even if the device is not encrypted: if your device is not encrypted just press cancel and it will work just fine.
Error 7 when flashing a ROM: check that System, Vendor and Product partitions are not mounted in the Mount section of the recovery before flashing a ROM.

Hey,
great work!
thanks!
I saw on github you changed that version from joyeuse to curtana.
Would you be able to compile a joyeuse version too for all the joyeuse owners?
Add it here too and change the title [curtana-joyeuse]?
I've unpacked your version and changed build.prop and repacked.
It's working beautifully on my joyeuse_eea device.
It is the only version that:
- does not lock touch after wake up
- can decrypt
- is not closed source as LR-twrp
- backup works
So great work!
PS: have no clue howto compile myself, otherwise I would have tried that path

Hi!
dungphp already did a version of PBRP for joyeuse that you can download here:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682886707
On the other hand PBRP devs are working on a official device tree for joyeuse, but as far as I know there are still no official builds. You can check their progress here:
https://github.com/PitchBlackRecoveryProject/android_device_xiaomi_joyeuse-pbrp
Hey,
Thanks for the info.
For some reason the version of dungphp did not backup the existing install.
Can't remember the actual error.
Another version was 3.4.0 and did not decrypt.
So i stated looking into altering different curtana versions.
The LR twrp is closed source and locks up touch after waking up from sleep.
This version works flawlessly for me.
I will track the progress of the official build.
Many thanks!
@end222 after flashing joyeuse version of recovery, recovery booted fine but internal storage folders have random names and no files in them, also backup dont work with error that folders dont exist or something like that, also phone didn't been able to boot system after installing recovery.I needed to reflash stock firmware to fix system.Any ideas?
You shouldn't have installed any recoveries because they are in alpha phase.
You can install some roms by using factory recovery and fastboot.
Thanks for the recovery.

It should work just fine. I've been using the recovery as a daily driver ever since I released the build and I've flashed Magisk using that method several times, all of them successfully.

Flashing Instructions
Pre-installation
T-Virus (Download here)
TWRP (Download from here)
NikGapps (Download from here)
First time installation
Backup your device data to a PC or OTG flash drive.
Flash T-Virus with NOST and reboot to recovery.
Download and copy crDroid and TWRP zip to the Internal Storage and flash them in that order.
Format userdata and reboot to recovery to swich to the updated slot.
Flash NikGapps and wipe the Dalvik Cache (or else the system will not boot).
Reboot to system and enjoy.
Installing from previous release
Backup your data to PC, OTG flash drive.
Reboot to recovery, copy crDroid and TWRP zip to the Internal Storage and flash them in that order.
Reboot to recovery to swich to the updated slot and flash Gapps.
Reboot to system
Troubleshooting
When flashing the ROM in TWRP, it fails at Step 2
To fix this, flash any TWRP >= v2.4 which contains a fix for slot switching
After flashing TWRP v2.x the folders have weird names and I cannot copy stuff to the internal storage
You forgot the format userdata before rebooting.
The GSI in T-Virus is A10 and uses software encryption. My TWRP builds use hardware based decryption blobs which
are incompatible with software encrypted userdata. My ROM uses hardware encryption so that is not a problem.
But when you do not format data and install TWRP v2.x then it cannot decrypt the userdata created by A10 GSI.
So always format data before installing TWRP v2.x releases

DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
[*]Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)

Your steps don't make sense, the first install steps refer to crDroid when this is Derpfest, it also says to flash twrp via recovery when the default MIUI recovery does NOT have any option to do so or to flash any other zips (when in fact your link is of OrangeFox, that isn't TWRP) and both the "first time" and "update instructions" steps say to flash gapps when in bold letters above the link you say not to flash them.

Hi, master.
I have a joyeuse and unfortunately it doesn't flash.
I think it's bad access to /system.
No Android 11 works on my joyeuse here on xda and unfortunately there aren't many phones here.
I tried your Android 10 RR, which works like a charm.
But unfortunately I'm not lucky with Android 11. I think the problem is in the dynamic partition (/system_root, /vendor, /product). Twrp can't mount it.

which TWRP are you using?
i have installed the OrangeFox Recovery project and it works.
you must follow certain procedure and should be fine.
Not every Android 11 works for me but it is not due to access to the partitions (at least i believe)
i had problems with SimCards which were not recoginized.
at this moment i had installed the Legion Rom based on the Android 11.
works well, Magisk installed, Fdroid with all apps too.
Safetynet passed.
netflix runs w/o issues.
i followed this procedure:
1- install TWRP (Russian one exe file) and enter TWRP.
2 - click on Wipe, then on Format Data -> type "yes" (this will decrypt the phone)
3 - restart the phone to TWRP
4 - In TWRP, i installed the OrangeFox Recovery Project (Version 11 Alpha)
5 - Restart to System

btw, i tried:
- Carbon (there were some missing features) - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-11-0-carbonrom-cr-9-0-miatoll.4210823/
- Fluid (worked more than well) - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-fluid-1-1-for-miatoll.4212633/#post-84226211
- LegionOS - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...rtana-excalibur-gram-joyuese-unified.4188403/
i had problems with:
- Pixel Experience (not recognized SimCards)
- LineageOS (crashing)
hope it helps you a bit.
@Seba_Poland
I tried these.
I didn't try OrangeFox because I think there is a problem with encryption, as Bezke wrote, if I understand it good..
twrp-3.4.0-14-curtana-unified-mauronofrio
PBRPMiatoll20201014
PBRP-miatoll-3.0.0-20201101-1929-BETA
TWRP-3.4.1B-joyeuse-fix.img
I'll probably try.
*I use magisk hide, magisk hide props and gpay fix, so the safety net works well for me. I do not use Netflix, I cannot confirm.

Try latest OrangeFox ( 30 December 2020 ), the "decryption issues with custom Android 11 ROMs" fixed, you can find here: https://orangefox.download/device/miatoll
I have experience with Orangefox recovery on my previous phone, is the best recovery for Redmi note 7, using now on my note 9pro too, DarthJabba9 is a great developer.

exectly, i updated and it has encrypted the partitions w/o issues.
btw. i have same experience with RN7 and OrangeFox.
the only bottleneck is the backup restore. it took some time until i released how to proceed.
@Seba_Poland @vlouis @DarthJabba9
All right, guys!
So OrangeFox the only recovery with which I can flash Android 11 and the system will boot!
Other recoveries must have a problem on Joyeuse.
Thanks for the help!

NEW 23/04/2023: OrangeFox BetaTest / a13 - vendorboot recovery AOSP/MIUI
Version Information
Status: Unofficial
Current Release Version: 3.7_012
Release Date: 27-Feb-2023
This is very good news, it was about time that Lisa had a recovery for Android 13.
Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful new! Previous version for Android 12 where absolutely perfect, I am sure that this update is, or soon will be also an excellent version.
Thank you very very much!
@Dkpost3 :
I would like to send a little contribution, have you a PayPal account?
Edit: I just installed it on my Lisa running Xiaomi.eu miui 13 weekly version (Android 12): It works perfectly on Android 12, the only limit (it's a beta version) is that it can't read the ext storage. I immediately installed the update to Xiaomi.eu update to miui 14 (14.05) stable without formatting. I don't notice any problem till now.
After update the stock recovery came back so I flashed again this new one through fastboot, first I booted boot_lisa.img then I flashed it definitely from inside recovery using the zip file.
At the end I flashed successfully magisk 25.2. I am really impressed with the wonderful work of Dkpost3!

Excellent recovery. Fully functional. Very good data decryption and OTG. Only the temperature sensor is not working but that's not a big deal. Surely there will be an evolution and it will be fixed. I use MI 11 lite 5g NE (lisa), MIUI 14 global (eea) android 13.

I am using this room for more than 7 days. Here are my review.
Good things..
1. This rom is so smooth, i didn't feel any leg. I tried many roms including pixel experience plus but it have legs in notification panel. But this rom have no leg in whole ui.
2. So much customisation. Your phone, your way. (Without root, with root you can do more)
3. Take screenshot in restricted apps without root. (Just disable windows secure flag)
4. Option to create 5Ghz hotspot. (Pixel experience plus doesn't have this feature).
5. And much more..
Bad things...
Everything in this rom is good.
Give a try to experience your new OnePlus Nord.
A very big thanks to developer.

I used orangefox recovery for oos 12. It supports 5G. Battery is good.
Don't flash recovery, just boot recovery via
Fastboot boot recovery.img (on oos 12)
After installing custom rom you can flash custom recovery.

You can enter your screen lock code, if you are on oos 12. If you decrypt partition, you can install rom from your internal storage. If you skip this step, you can install rom from adb sideload.
In both case you can install rom.
