I have activated the 'Camera 2 API' from build.prop and applications such as Lightroom, Open Camera and ProShot allow me to take photos in RAW format, however when trying to edit them with lightroom (PC and Mobile) or Snapseed does not allow it. An import error comes out. So I can't do anything with that.
Does the same thing happen to someone? I am doing something wrong?

Hi! I'd like to get Google Camera app with HDR+ on my Xiaomi Mi A1, but the official XDA port doesn't work. I've heard of some people using the app in SD625 devices, and the Mi A1 has the 625 SoC, so in theory it may be possible to port the app... I can't code, so does anyone know something about a download link that works on Mi A1 or can mod the XDA apk to work on the Mi A1?

Almost every ported gcam works on mia1, have you enabled Camera 2 api ? it needs that enabled to work.
Anyway , you find all these ports on this thread

I don't know how to enable the API: please explain me, if you can. Moreover, is it possible to add EIS to the stock camera or at least in Google Camera ported?

If you are rooted you have to add below line in build.prop -
Code:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
after that reboot. you will have working gcam with HDR+. although the slomo option won't work. and you will have EIS too in gcam.

1.No unless you have custom recovery which mia1 doesn't have yet.
2. nope.
i think Google camera hdr+ need a snapdragon 820++ isn't it?
@thewarrior2 It doesn't, it needs a 64bit OS and a snapdragon SoC packing a certain Hexagon DSP
Can anybody post comparison pictures of hdr+ and stock xiaomi camera app? I am really interested in seeing the results before buying this phone.

If you cant find the difference by looking at the samples posted, then you dont need HDR+.
But the fact is the difference is night and day!
Google is primarily known for software, which is what HDR+ is all about.. It uses the camera h/w, takes many pics when you click the shutter button, each in different contrast, and applies some kick-ass machine learning algorithms on every pixel of each groups of pics it took, fuses all of them, to get awsome looking pics.. Thats all it does, and thats all that no other stock camera app does from any other manufacturer. Thats why it beats even iphone.
So basically, google does more through software , what all others achieve through multiple h/w.. Reason why pixel 2 still has single Camera.

32Bit OS / Oreo / Camera2API / Google Camera

Got some questions since I bought device device recently. I've been using a Xiaomi MI5s for quite a while now - this one has got a 64bit system, so a) Camera2API and b) the Google Camera with HDR is working just fine. So I learned Moto is STILL using 32bit for this and other devices so the recent Google Cameras with HDR+ will NEVER work with this.
Might this change with the release of Oreo 8.0 on the Moto Z2 Play? Or do you guys think Moto will still be using 32bit with this?
Asking, because the low-light-performance with this Z2 Play is WAY worse compared to my MI5S with Google Camera and HDR+ enabled - it's a world's difference. This I use this mobile on the go and like to have quality snapshots with me, I might be dropping this one again because of this - although, despite this issue - I like it a lot!
Any ideas?
So.. got a reply from Motorola.
Android 8.0 for the Z2 Play will stay at 32bit - no 64bit OS for this phone planned. Only for the Z2 Force Models, which have 64bit already.
Guess I'll sell the Play again, then..
[deleted]
Google Camera with HDR+ functionality. As I stated already, low light performance isn't that great with the Z2 - so Google Camera Modded would allow this one to be WAY more detailed / sharp / etc, as the stock cam would.
But Google Camera with these features is 64bit ONLY. Which means, if this one stays at 32bit, we can never get GCAM MOD working..

Try this, see if touch/autofocus works. it's based on gcam 4.2.xx arm 32b version.
Edit : needs camera api 2 enabled by build.prop if crashes. add below line to build.prop.

hi! thanks for your support! camera hal has been enabled by me before.
your version works.. but only partially. hdr seems to work, too. but the results
are not usable nor is the handling. touching the camera button, it takes about 10 seconds
before the actual photo is done.. and it also works only 1 of 5 times. in 4 times it doesn't take
a picture at all. and the result is washed out..
are there other versions i could test? do you know that?
thanks again!
Just lower iso a bit and increase speed using professional mode, you'll get better image, but need steady hand
Use automatic mode for iso and speed reference
on my bike z2 Play does not work, it does not have root, do I need root to install this APK?

Is there a way to enable cam2api level 3 on zuk 2?

Level 3 cam2api have lot of advantages. Newly ported cameras from nokia and honor will work perfectly with bokeh modes if this is enabled. Someone have a look into it.

Best Camera app - low light

What's the best camera app for the G6 in low light?
I tried the stock app and it was ok but not great. It actually worked better when zoomed in, which makes no sense to me, since normally digital zoom sucks on any other device, but worked better with this camera.
Have you found any really good low light camera apps for the G6?

I cant install it. Doesnt work.. for me at least.
'GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-9' won't install on my moto g6 64GB-Rom/4GB-Ram.
I believe only modded Google cam ports up to version 4.2 are supported for the G6
You can find a bunch if you google "celsoazevedo"
Tested a few and none of those support hdr+ for better low light shots on the G6
Does anyone have a link to the best Gcam app for the Moto G6 Plus?

MGC_3.2.045_FINAL_3.4.apk
I'm testing this one the regular g6, in BSG mod settings when you select model Nexus 5 and the back camera config for the Nexus 5 hdr+ seems to work
I played around with the app and the settings and low light shots have less noise but are also significant darker with hdr+.
With daytime shots the colors are warmer and more accurate in comparison with the colder results on the Moto cam app with hdr on.

Liking it more so far. Tried both and it seems to take better pictures and videos than the stock app. Couple little bugs though. The slow motion doesn't seem to work properly or I'm doing something wrong but I think that it looks better and is easier to just point focus and take the shot. Sometimes focus can be weird with it though. I'll have to play with both more but I believe overall it's better because the images have come out better

Will this work without using the XML files? I'm guessing we need root to be able to use them. I don't want to root this phone. I've used a ported GCam on my Moto G5S Plus without root. I've tried this one on the Stylus and it seems to work, but I don't know if I'm just not seeing something.

Thanks. I figured out that with the phone not rooted you can't use the XML files until you first save your own XML file. Then you can put the XML file(s) in whatever folder yours was created and saved. Anyway, I've also just been using it without the XML files and it's been working great.
It's so nice to finally be able to use a newer 64-bit version of the Google Camera. I was never able to get any custom ROM working properly on my previous Moto G5S Plus, so I was stuck with the stock 32-bit ROM which greatly limited the version of Google Camera I could use. The shot-to-shot speed (with HDR+) is sooooo much faster. The 32-bit version was barely usable.
Ultracam is working pretty well. Haven't figured out how to switch rear cams yet. Slow motion and night sight works.
Thanks for this thread, any updates on what gcam version and xml work best with g stylus?
I just got the Moto G Stylus today, installed Parrot043's Gcam 7.3 (MGC_7.3.020_Parrot043_V7.apk) from here --> https://www.cyanogenmods.org/downloads/parrot043-gcam-7-3-020/
1. The Gcam definitely takes better pictures than the stock Moto cam
2. When I go to the Settings --> Advance --> Focus Tracking and enable it, then switch to Video, Gcam crashes. I find this odd since in the pull down settings from the top, MOTION is set to "Auto"
I'm doing some research on any Gcam ports + config.xml files that will allow the use of the taking pictures using the Ultra Wide lens. I'll paste what I find so far here

I haven't much luck with the gcam and xml combos, some combos you get a wide cam but it's seems to a stretched out shot. For pure quality shots on the main camera, latest parrot seems to be the way to go.

No go for me. Once I restored the XML and clicked on the 2x option to see the ultrawide angle view, the camera pp just crashes. I Force Stop it, re-open, and it crashes with an error "Camera keeps stopping" no matter what. I guess I'll just stick with the Parrott Gcam.

I haven't that problem, try cleaning the app cache.
I have Moto G Pro, the international version of Moto G Stylus.
Alright I got the Wichaya GCam installed and loaded with the Moto G8 Plus config xml and it loadsand gives the Macro and Wide angle lens as an option. However as kywildcat mentioned, the wide angle gives a stretched out look in the viewfinder. Guess I'll uninstall this and stick with Parrot's GCam.
Any current good working gcam for this device? I tried parrots but app crashes when I try to open it so it does not work.
