I just moved to a Samsung S3 and a Samsung Note 8 from the Asus world, and I'm missing the ability to use USB ethernet adapters. Apparently, Samsung removes the drivers from JB and future releases? Has anyone discovered a way to either flash the drivers back in, or do you know if any of the aftermarket roms for the Note 8 include this functionality?
Thanks!
I know what you are saying. I have an Asus tf 300 with a belkin ethernet adapter...didn't use it much though, never tried it on my note 2 smart dock..., hope it works. I think if it works on note 2.. it should work on note 8

Age old solution: root, compile the driver for your kernel, and load it.
Else: buy device with support baked in.
For me, Wi-Fi model on 4.1.2 does not support the dongle from the first gen ASUS Zenbook UX-31.
Is there any way to see the mobile screen on TV?
It does support MHL?

AFAIK it doesn't..
old school way I guess, using A/V cable!
EDIT: the phone doesn't support TV out, so bummer! If u have a smart TV then u can look for alternative ways to connect ur phone.
It has MHL. But 5 pin MHL cables for Sony devices won't work. Planning to order this weekend.
who confirmed it supports MHL or not? tks
i have tab 3 8.0 with a red MHL cable, i will buy n3neo if it support that cable

Although there is an mhl cable on ebay, according to some mobile tech sites it seems that phone doesn't support mhl! Also there is no explanation on Samsung's siteI Therefore I am not sure! Could someone clear whether it supports mhl or not?

Have you tried slim port adapter? My g4 wont be here for about a week to test.
Add: After googling what the Lg G3 had, which was a slimport I checked LG's website. It says it uses "HDMI SlimPort(4K)".
http://www.lg.com/uk/mobile-phones/g4/specifications.jsp
Has anyone picked up a slimport adapter for the g4? Looking for one that is guaranteed to work.

What setting are you looking for?
I tried my slimport (not MHL) adapter and it worked the same way as for the G2. Screen mirroring on the TV. When playing videos using the built in video app they only play on the TV.
Link to it?

Me? Here.
Alright, pulled my Slimport Adapter out of my Pioneer App Radio and it doesn't work with my TV either. This same adapter worked with my Nexus 4.
All LG Flagship are enabled with Slim-Port - Connecting Technology.
LG G4 is in list of the official slim-port Supported Devices here: www.slimportconnect.com/slimport-supported-devices/.

Recommend this from Amazon.com and also found a tutorial video at YouTube.com here.
Frigidazzi you said your phone would be there in about a week, that was 4 months ago? This can't be that hard I am still screen mirroring from my s3 as my s5 was stolen but my g4 does not work with this adapter or any of the other 4 that I have tried. This can't be this difficult if I don't accomplish something this week I will use my 14 day option and return this phone. Anyone have any answers?
I have a taiwan 815 and i bought a combo slimport adapter which has a card reader and USB OTG it works fine

You might need a 5 pin to 11 pin adapter. Your mhl cable might be a 1.0 which is older tech

Lg4 does support mhl. It requires a slimport MHL. I just bought an Accell slimport Mhl. Works perfect. It took a few trys before I found this. Also, Lg4 supports 4K.
Is MHL micro usb to hdmi compatible with the LG G4 and LG G tab?
Hello,
Firstly I haven't tried it yet but I want to use a controller with my Note 5. Can I use the one that came bundled with the Shield? Does it use bluetooth?
If not, can someone reccomend me a good one to use with N5?
Thanks!
I will answer myself, there is no way to use it. Shame.
Doesn't the Shield use WiFi Direct to connect to the controller?

I can confirm the shield controller works very well when wired to an android device that supports otg.
The track pad is a bit sporadic though.
Volume controls and start button work which surprised me.
For what it's worth I tested it on a samsung galaxy note 12.2 with a USB 3.0 otg hub.
I had also already updated my shield TV to 3.0 (android 6.0) and run the peripheral update so I can't confirm if it worked on versions prior.
I know you were likely looking for wireless but it's something for sure.

Hi.
Does lg g7 support this feature?
I would like to connect to a external monitor.

I tried my USB to HDMI that I use with my switch and it didn't work. It comes up with a message telling you to use the casting feature.

Is it possible that LG is so stupid to remove this feature?????

LG didn't support this on the G6, and I had hoped they would include it here, but I guess they're all in on streaming.

But, it is not the same, if you want to play with your smartphone in the tv, you need hdmi, streaming has much lag.
Lg v30 support this feature.
Lg g7 is fantastic, but without this, it can not be comprared with galaxy s9, p20 pro, iphone x...

I'm experiencing the same issue on G7 Thinq and suspected the USB-C to HDMI cable. Is this really just not supported on the G7? They're trying to force us to use a streaming device by excluding this very basic and reliable functionality?

LG has disabled this feature by software.
As you can see in the attached screen, the smartphone detect a displayport adapter, but the tv out is disabled via software.
I have been researching into the kernel source, and I have discovered how they have disabled this feature, I have uploaded the hdmi_Kconfig file from LG v30, and Samsung Galaxy S9, both of them support HDMI out, and LG G7.
There you can see waht I have explained.
If it would have some developeres interested in this device, they could take back this feture to LG G7.
usb c to hdmi cable
When it comes to technology, I think I'm pretty up to date but I was a little behind the curve when it came to HDMI cords and cell phones. I absolutely love my Samsung S8+ and being able to watch videos that I have recorded, pictures I've taken on my television has opened me to a whole new world...... use easyacc usb c to hdmi cable watched movies from my Netflix app from my phone on the television screen. I'm stoked if you can't tell!!!

The feature is directly disabled in the kernel. While we have the kernel the source doesn't work.
So does this mean there is a way to enable this feature on the g7. I just updated from an iPhone and have no wifi where I play videos etc for my students. I had the adapter for the smart phone and bought one to fit the USB c but when I plug it in to the HDMI it only charges does not show the screen

Hello!
I am interested in enabling hdmi also.
Any news?
I'm offering a reward! ?
Hi guys, it must be rooted the phone for make the change in the kernel to activate the feature? Or there is an alternative way to enable it?
There is no way to enable it at the moment.
Snapdragon 845 have HDMI as option- vendor have to open HDMI with paid key (same as Windows Home to Windows Pro). Qualcom understand the power of money.
So it is a SW issue-but You can't just change n to y in kernel. It's a clear case for LG. Maybe they can offer a paid solution - but I doubt it.

It seems someone with g710ulm on v10i firmware has managed to connect with a TV using this lenovo usbc to DisplayPort adapter 4X90Q93303.
Can someone with this firmware confirm this? ???
