i bought a phone, had a stock rom with rom manager installed and no sd card. i flashed the stock rom and it works fine but a little slow, i noticed that when i plug into my computer and select disk drive, it only brings up the sd card and shows the phone but will not allow me to access it. also when i go to settings and then sd & phone storage under internal phone storage the total space and available space says "unavailable" . and under phone storage the total space is around 80MB and the availabe space is like 140MB wich is far lower than my other incredible. so i figured i would use the "format phone storage" and on this phone it is not highlighted so it is not even an option. i bought this to upgrade my girlfriends phone and she is using it but i just want to fix this problem. thanks in advance for any help.
Hello,
After upgrade and factory reset and micro-SD format, I am unable to move apps on the SD Card of my LG G4 H815.
I know that some can't be moved, but some can, and I am unable to move some games that before I was able to move, because I don't get that option. I also tried with a different micro-SD, although the card worked just fine before the upgrade.
I just don't get that options - I don't even get the option to format the external SD as phone memory, as I know it should do.
I wanted to post screenshots but I can't, because I'm a new member, so I'll try to explain:
- I go to Settings - Apps - choose a game - storage - there are only 2 options, clear data and clear cache
-I go to Storage - SD Card - settings - (here I have only Eject and Format, and if I choose Format, the only option I have is format as portable storage)
Did anyone faced a similar problem? I digged around bout couldn't find anything like this.
Thank you
I have the same problem, wen i upgrade to 6.0 i have some games with the option to choose were the data goes, less than 5.0 but i can move few.
I hard reset to stop batery drain and now i cant move any data from apps to SD card.
Same problem here! Even link2sd doesn't works...
Did you format your sd card as portable/external? How did you format your partitions and what formats when you tried link2sd?
Just tried it link2sd works for me using Fat32 on first partition and second one ext2. It had to reboot once but I guess it has something to do with my systemless root as it simply dissappeared and I had to reroot again.
The only option is portable in the format on the phone. I was under the impression under marshmallow you would be able to format either to portable or internal.
Just checked move 2 sd isnt showing up in options my guess it has something to do with the new internal/external feature, did not test with link2sd only linking tested and that works for me. I guess that you can only format as external is caused by stock rom. After all I have read internal seems not to be a good choice for mobiles with enough internal storage
Link2sd was formatted as ext4 that worked on lolly, but the big problem is I formatted as external (only choice) and the "move to sd" button does'nt appear at all! Maybe I should format all the sd as ext4? In a nutshell the 20B is using my sd as an otg storage, can read and write, but not considered by games and so (luckily the camera srill save pics and vids on sd).as far as I can see there is only thi thread and we are the only one thata have this problem!
I search about it and seems, LG dont implement 6.0 feature to use SD as internal memory if SD card have the minimal speed requirements
Try ext2 on second partition then it will work. I only have the problem that it wont mount at reboot, I always have to wait after complete boot and some time more until it recognizes second partition and mounts it. Perhaps an issue with systemless root (supersu 2.65beta) I am using but as long as no system apps are linked there is no problem with this (and I dont reboot often)
Ext4 on link2sd used to work, but in 6.0 (20b) it looks like I deleted a lot of "trash" so I was able to reatore all the app without link2sd and I would like not to use it, just to move app to mi samsung64gb sd to save other internal space for the future.I know it doesn't move the complete app, but one day maybe you will need even just 5mb...never say never....and one day you may need even just 5mb of internal memory...never say never... anyhow it store lictures in my sd, so I'm really afraid is about a limit of the rom or the memory card (I miss the format as internal memory too, while someone has that option on G4, am I wrong?) I have the classic silver 64gb samsung micro sd not the ultrafast version I used to make 4k vids on my old S5!
I personally bought link2sd as the old move 2 sd didnt work well with my samsung galaxy tab s, most apps crashed but using link2sd they worked (not all but most of them). As for SD card I have a sandisk ultra 128GB and no problem recording 4k to it, I use the mod with the highest bitrate from the forums here

I was talnkig about my SD not to say if I can record or not 4k (we are off topic here), but just to say that is NOT the ultrafast that samsung requires for recording 4k video without modding.
I just mean that now I have a "Samsung MB-MP64D/EU Micro SD XC EVO, UHS-1, CLASS 10 orange/wite" not the "Samsung MB-MG64D/EU micro SDXC Pro 64Go Class 10 UHS-I silver".
The latter was required by samsung to record 4k video=superfaster compared to the hal priced one I have. So, MAYBE, the SD does the difference in Marshmallow, it detects the kid of SD and allow us to use it as internal memory and/or to move the apps on the sd without the Link2SD app (for the record, I used ext4 withou problem with lollypop, now Link2SD doesn't find the partition, I won't waste time trying other ext till my phone will be full).
I've been exploiting my mobile at it max since I got the Marshmallow update. Adopted a UHS-1 Samsung EVO 32GB card and used it to its limits.
It has been working fine until today, I woke up to a app screen where all my SD card apps were disconnected and said "App not installed", immediately I went to Storage settings and there I saw that around 100mb was left in my SD card and the bar was red. When I opened it, all the subheading, that is, music, images, videos, all of them show 0.00bytes whereas downloads folder could be accessed.
Tried deleting some files from SD card, managed to get some space from that downloads folder but it didnt work, now the strangest thing started to happen. I tried uninstalling the apps that were on SD card which showed "app not found" and I managed to uninstall them and this also freed up space on my card. Restarted my phone, still no luck.
Next up, I tried migrating data onto my ORIGINAL internal storage (8gb), and it did transfer some data, after maxing out, it said "data left at original location".
All in all, my problem is, that I'm not able to properly mount my SD card, the data is there, but no app is able to access any of it except the internal functions of HTC, like 'migrate' and all.
Need help, please let me know what should I do.
Another question is, if I root my mobile without the SD card and then re-insert the 'adopted sd card' after the root, will it read it? If that would be the case, I'd root my mobile any second. Thank you, eagerly waiting for your replies.
Using my wileyfox swift for a few days now and having a blast. This is the cheapest phone I ever got and i'm enjoying it
even more than my Nexus 4.
Today on the other hand, something strange happened to me.
Phone was working fine with a Samsung Evo 32 GB UHS-I formatted as internal storage.
Today I decided to move some apps from internal storage to the SD. I should have never done this..
After 3 apps the phone would stop moving them and stuck at 0%.
I thought this was just (another) android bug an rebooted the phone.
I moved 3 more apps and the same problem occurred.
This time the phone got stuck in bootloop at the wileyfox logo and a soft reset solved this.
When the phone booted I noticed 6 apps had disappeared, strange thing is. These weren't the apps I moved to my SD.
After opening the app drawer my phone froze completely, another soft reset was needed. This went on 5 more times, until I
removed the SD card. After this the phone started fine.
I checked the SD in my laptop and it was only showing the folder "Lost.dir".
When trying to format the SD card it was only showing a option to format it to 16MB.
After this i used Windows build in "disk manager" and noticed that there was a second (and main) partition of 16MB on the
card(?!).
After removing this partition I could format it to the original size.
It took me 5 tries before the phone would format it to use as internal storage. It would force close 4 times before with
an error message.
Can't find anything related about this issue on Google, is this a known bug?
TL;DR: Moving apps from internal storage to SD f'ed up my SD partition/card. Can't find anything about this issue online.
Phone info:
Wileyfox Swift
Cyanogenos 13.1.2, latest updates installed.
Not rooted, locked bootloader, nothing modified.
Even if u can use sd card as internal storage or whatever is not recomended to use it. Or even move apps on it my friend lost his 32gb sd card after using app to sd or something similar i dont remember
Actually this is some solid advice for everyone.
I tried using a build in feature and it did a whole lot of staying things. Since this happened I will stay away from the feature.
I remember this happened in the past, and I didn't give it too much thought, just did a clean ROM install and problem got away.
I may be doing this again, but thought I'd ask first, in case I can avoid it.
LG G3 - D850
ROM: Fulmics 8.0
Kernel Xceed D850-MM-test-bld7n
rooted (Magisk)
internal memory: 0.88GB free
external memory: Sandisk 64GB exfat, 23.54 GB free
Recently I got the classic Android message about running out of space in my internal storage, so I went ahead and opened Root Explorer, navigated to a folder in the internal memory, chose stuff to move, and moved it to the external storage.
There were no errors, and some stuff moved, but at some point it stopped on its own.
So I tried again, and it wouldn't move anymore.
I restarted the phone and this is where it's currently at:
-First time I open Root Explorer after rebooting, I can see the contents of the external SD card
-As soon as I try to do any kind of writing to it, it tells me I need to give permissions in Android so the app can write to the external storage. If I touch OK, it briefly flashes the permissions window, then goes back to root explorer and I can't see the SD card contents anymore (it still shows it as a folder within /storage, and if I enter it, it's empty, but does show the correct used/free space)
-I tried Titanium backup, and it also can't write to the external storage.
I did some research, tried the SD Fix app from the store, tried a couple more apps to fix external storage permissions , tried flashing the same kernel again and rooting again, issue persists.
I don't know what could be the root cause and/or how to further investigate/troubleshoot.
Any and all ideas are welcome.
Thanks!
Additional information:
-If I go to Settings > General > Storage, I see both internal and SD card. The SD card shows its usage information, and I have the eject button. However if I touch on it, a screen flashes for a second then goes back to the Storage screen (can't remember what it's supposed to do, but I'd assume it should show me the files in the SD card).
-If I boot in recovery (TWRP), I can't mount the SD card (it won't add a check mark to it).
