Bootloop After Flashing Magisk (OOS 9.0.4) - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

So I just updated to OOS 9.0.4 from 9.0.3 and I'm currently trying to flash Magisk.
I'm running TWRP 3.2.3-x by blu_spark and am trying to flash Magisk 18.1.
My problem is that everytime I flash Magisk I get stuck in a bootloop and have to flash the OTA for OOS 9.0.4 in order to use get out of the bootloop.
Thanks

Oh my bad, I found my own solution after a while
But thanks for the help anyway!
(I didn't deactivate a Magisk module before I updated to OOS 9.0.4 so I just had to run Magisk Uninstaller and I was all good to root after that)

happens to me on lineageos 16. my trick is that i download the nightly zip, extract the boot.img file, patch it using magisk. then i reboot into recovery, flash the nightly, flash the patched boot image, and then reboot.

magisk not working on all OOS OREO ROMS

Hello xda community.
I got some knowledge about flashing stuff on my oneplus 3. But Since I use Android oreo beta 29, 30, or stable 5.0 OOS version even when I use the aroma installer from Freedom OS. Magisk doesn't install propobly. .
Im using latest Twrp from Bluespark 3.2.1 -X
I can flash most off the magisk versions 15.0 - 15.1 - 14.6 without bootloops. I tried alot off them but when I boot the phone magisk is not installed.(there is no Magisk app)
When I install the magisk apk. the magisk is also telling me magisk is not installed.
On beta 29 SuperSU was working didn't try it yet on beta 30 but I really want to use Magisk.
I'm reading the forums here also on the OP community but seems like I'm the only one with this problem.
uninstall magisk app from the rom, flash rom again and then flash magisk 15.3... works fine

maybe the only way to make sure is to wipe everything , did you try with custom kernel?
try to flash rom reboot to recovery, then derp kernel (tested and works on latest beta) , then flash magisk... that worked for me at 1st try.
Flash magisk 14.0 and boot see magical working and then update magisk15.3 via magisk manager application.
Use OOS debloater from the themes and apps section to remove some apps from the system. Then reinstall magisk. Problem solved. We have a lot less space left in the system partition and that's the reason magisk is silently failing to install.

No worries there either. Running it myself!
just jumped from november to march update using OTA via adb push and after i flash magisk it causes the phone to bootloop.
looks like there is a problem with patching the boot.img from magisk, reflashing the stock boot file the pixel works but no root obviously....any idea?

There are several scenarios you could try.
1. Fastboot into twrp, flash twrp installer zip, flash magisk and see if it boots.
2. Fastboot into twrp, flash twrp installer zip, flash magisk, flash magisk uninstaller, then flash magisk again and see if it boots.
3. Fastboot into twrp, flash twrp installer zip, flash magisk, reboot to twrp, flash magisk uninstaller zip, then flash magisk again and see if it boots.
4. Fastboot into twrp, flash magisk, then flash magisk uninstaller zip, then flash magisk again and see if it boots. Twrp will be gone as well.
5. Try some of the above, but add a custom kernel into the mix.
Sometimes it can take 4-5 tries before you'll get it to boot up with root. Just be patiently persistent my friend and you'll get it :good:

What Version Of Magisk Is Working With OOS PIE9?

Hello,
I tried flashing Magisk-v20.4 and the phone wouldn't boot...
Now I'm playing around with the previous versions trying to figure how to make this work....
Hey,
Just for information, I am using OOS 9.0.9 and my Magisk version is 20.4.
Maybe problem is somewhere else?

I have 20.4 working...
I first tried to flash the ElementalX kernel, then Magisk, and when I tried to reboot, it just got stuck on the OnePlus logo. I thought it was a version issue, so I tried others and still the same problem.
Finally I thought to flash Magisk first, then boot up the phone and then flash the kerenel and then Magisk over, so I did this, and it all worked...
I guess something has changed in regards to Ramdisk, and Magisk needs to be flashed first, then the Kernels...

Question Installing miuimix a12 and magisk

I need some help flashing the latest weekly miuimix a12. I'm experienced and all, been flashing roms before I could walk haha. But this device is really cracking me up.
I've tried flashing the weekly android 12 miuimix through twrp. Twrp vasishath gives a couldn't recognize zip file and twrp nebrassy gives a twrp crash (back to homescreen twrp) upon swiping the rom installation. I think both twrps don't allow installing android 12 rom. So I unzipped the latest weekly, went to fastboot and run the installer bat. This installed the rom for me.
But I don't think the installation was correctly done, since miuimix comes with magisk on board and magisk wasn't installed.
I also can't manually install magisk. I installed the app, patched the boot, flashed boot a and b, even installed twrp and sideloaded magisk.zip but the magisk app is showing n/a.
What did I do wrong, the miuimix a12 flashing or the patched boot flashing. Does someone know how to install an android 12 rom? This device is giving me a headache...

I'm not sure if magisk already support a12. The creator of magisk was working on it, with a lot of change like the no more hide feature, but idk if it already out
I was on the a12 supported canary build of magisk, but i guess maybe its to much "canary".
Or is installing miuimix a12 like i did, causing some trouble? By not being able tot flash the zip through twrp and installing with fastboot.
I'm lost on rooting my F3 on A12 as well. I can't do it through TWRP. I can't do it through adb sideload either. Will patching a boot image (not sure which to use for a global F3) and installing through magisk manager work?
Thanks.

After updating to this firmware I lost root. So I tried as usual to flash via fastboot twrp-3.6.0_11-0-I001D.img and then in recovery magisk 23.0 (24.1 makes twrp crash). When I reeboot into system (after clearing dalvik/cache) magisk is not installed, although the flashing of the zip in recovery was flawless. i even reflashed the stock rom+magisk (losing the twrp recovery) but no way magisk was there.
With the previous rom versions nevere had this problem. Is it a trick og the new rom to prevent from rooting? Any idea? Suggestions?

so...basically, you are unable to root using either the TWRP or simply Magisk?
What version of Magisk were you using?
I am thinking of updating but I need root access so the situation you are facing is worrisome to me.

I updated to the latest version and as always installed magisk to the inactive slot before reboot. Update was fine and root intact.
I was on magisk 24.1
