Hi
I have seen many tutorials about flashing recovery (TWRP) without unlocking bootloader thanks to the program QPST (Qualcomm Product Support Tools)...
Is it safe or is it a fake?
Thanks
Even if you manage to do that you're phone will get bricked

Now since our Lg g4 has been recently rooted how can we install twrp on the h815 without the bootloader being unlocked?
You can't flash TWRP without unlocked bootloader.
Can't root access unlock the bootloader?
Pardon my ignorance of the platform, but can't root access be used somehow to unlock the bootloader? How is it locked?
On a related note, is there a simplified explanation somewhere of all the various layers of the Android experience? I have at least a basic understanding of the BIOS/EFI/LILO/GRUB/kernel/init boot process of a regular computer, but when I was first told about the steps required to install a custom ROM (e.g., HyperDriveOTA or CyanogenMod), it seemed confusing and much more complicated than the standard PC boot sequence. Bootloaders, recoveries, and launchers, oh my!
Thanks.
then how to unlock bootloader (non-EU 815)?
You can't unlock it. There has been no way found yet.
Im super new to rooting in general, and the guides here have so much information and I don't really get most of it
My LG G4 is Verizon on VS9862BA on Android 6.0.
So I have a lot of questions:
Whats the difference between unlocking the bootloader and rooting
What comes first unlocking the bootloader or rooting
How do I get TWRP on my phone and do I get it first before unlocking the bootloader and rooting
What are KDZ / TOT, ARBS, Salt, QFIL and Bootloader stacks, flashing, fastboot mode, fastboot flash, fastboot boot
(Was looking at steadfasterX unlock guide and I have no clue what any of these things mean)
I have no clue what to do but I'm really interested in rooting, just super confused on everything and trying to be careful

so rooting the latest FW requires unlocking the bootloader.
unlocking the bootloader allows you to run unsigned code on boot (for an example rooted FW or custom FW)
exclamation for rooting:
so there are different types of user privileges on Android or any Linux. the most important one is root. the root user has full read/write access to the / directory (so pretty much everything ) and can run any command since they have all the privileges. The user you are login to on android does not come with root privileges. so what the term rooting your phone means you have the capability to call an app to run under the root user. (if this helps, its similar to running the sudo command on Linux or for windows granting an app administrator access to run. )
kdzs are the FW files that you flash from download mode. you don't have to touch KDZ / TOT, files at all if you are on the latest FW or when you unlock it since you will have TWRP.
salt is the tool used to unlock the bootloader. if you don't have Linux use FWUL
fastboot mode is a bootloader mode where you can flash files and do other stuff.
you don't have to even mess with bootloader stacks since you are on the latest FW.
hopefully that helps, its kind of hard to answer everything in one shot so if you still need help just quote me.
Hi everyone.
I have honor 8 pro (DUK) which has locked bootloader and yes I know it is not possible (officially) to unlock it. I have read several threads which state that unlocking bootloader is not necessary to root your mobile. Ok that was interesting, so I have searched all alternative methods of rooting which does not require unlocking bootloader, but none of them helped.
Attempts I made:
1. Many guides show to root the device via twrp. Flashing twrp requires unlocking bootloader, so out of options.
2. Tried to flash the twrp image via adb command but i get the message 'Command not allowed'. The obvious reason could be the locked bootloader.
3 Tried with Kingoroot and King root, none of them helped.
4. Magisk is unable to flash the magisk.zip file (I don't know why) and hence unable to use magisk as well.
Any other methods to root my device. Please help me dear developers and members. I don't want any custom ROM, all I need is to root my device.
Thank You.
Following. After Huawei/Honor decided not to provide the bootloader unlocking. I do not think we can and now there is no development for this handset at all.
Yeah and its sad that we are stuck here.
I would first like to know if there is still a bypass to the 7 day waiting period to OEM unlock.
And 2 I would like to know if there is a way to flash TWRP and if not, is there a way I can root my phone and THEN flash TWRP with the TWRP app?
I found some rooting guides but they require me to flash a file to my phone which I obviously can't do rn as my bootloader is still OEM locked obviously.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone!
I received my tablet with a Chinese version. I tried flashing a global version, but I didn't pay attention and ended up blocking the bootloader. Now it gets the message: "
MiUI version can't be installed on this device" and I can't unlock bootloader to go back to the Chinese rom. Does anyone know how I can proceed?
its bricked forever?
I think not but the only way to flash a rom with locked bootloader is to use edl mode.
