Hello
I will try to be simpler as i can
I have a MI MAX Prime (4GB/128)
Everything was ok and working right until MIUI 8.2.3.0 OTA arrived.
After update my phone started to experience Network disconnects and reconnects, "NO SIM Card, NO NETWORK, VIRGIN 4G", This happens at random periods but more often when i wake up phone from idle.
Nobody on Xiaomi Forums helped me, not even developers, Phone carrier told me to change sim card but problem persisted.
3 sympthoms.
1. After upgrading to 8.2.3.0 i can't search for networks manually. (http://attach.en.miui.com/forum/201705/09/033557amdkj2j33bkmyybm.jpg)
2. I use a MVNO which says i must use Roaming even locally, but this NEVER worked even if activated (http://attach.en.miui.com/forum/201705/09/233925hg9b3p55hm3pcpk9.png.thumb.jpg)
3. I noticed this weird pattern while charging (http://i.imgur.com/SPtvuqY.png)
I have done a factory reset and a rom flash via EDL, but problem remains.
I really don't know what to do now
Thanks in advance for your assistance
Well I am on the 8.2.5 Mi Max (not prime) & you can choose network manually by:
Settings - Sim card and mobile networks - tap on the preferred sim card - mobile networks & switch off the chose automatically and select preferred one.
You have to describe beter what is happening with your network connection. Does it gets blocked or disconnects completely (aka ril restarts) also does switch on/of air-plane mode resolves it?

Yeah, thing is i can't choose a network manually everytime it gives this

In half a second Network disconnects and reconnects,
first "NO SIM Card"
Then "NO NETWORK"
Then "VIRGIN 4G",
It disconnects and reconnects every time.
Specially when unlocking the phone
Notice there is not airplane mode activated

It works hire.
Try rolling back to older versions, 8.1.9.0 is enlisted on official page.
http://en.miui.com/extra.php?mod=rom/download&r=302&mobile=no#458
Obviously somehow RIL is getting stuck & re-initializing (restarting). Can you direct me to a MiUI forum url where you failed complain/bug report.

Also i can't find International Roaming, Only "data roaming" just noticed
Yup it's all Radio Interface Layer (RIL) related.

It's a physical issue? or just rom?
I can't afford another phone now

Definitely a software one, simply something didn't fit in (either a RIL or related cellular radio libs) good when you updated so you need to revert to previous one with other RIL and libs. Then you can try again with 8.2.3.0...
Flashed to 8.2.1.0 with miflash via EDL mode.
Problem remains... Seriously WtH?

Assuming that your bootloader is unlocked I suggest you flash exactly the version with which the phone came, I flash ever with any issue via adb-fastboot placing decompress rom files in the same folder in c: with option "flash all".

You are doing something wrong. I pointed you out to the 8.1.9.0. For Mi Max Prime Global stable. I don't know where you found 8.2.1.0. at all it's not enlisted on the site not even for a China Stable (that goes up to 8.2.2.0.)...

But those you mention are only update packages, iirc MIUI said that fastboot flashable roms has to be in tgz format.

Did you ever bother to read flashing guide?
http://en.miui.com/a-232.html
& you naturally can download direct from a smartphone.

Yes i did, but i can only download the latest version from my cellphone 8.2.30 which gives me bugs
from the website i can only download
http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=helium_global&b=F&r=global&n=
Xiaomi Mi Max Prime 64G/128G Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File Download
which is helium_global_images_V8.2.3.0.MBDMIDL_20170420.0000.00_6.0_global_ece8e97134.tgz
Please wipe all data in Recovery mode if you want to update to a discontinuous ROM version, or downgrade to an older ROM version using MIUI full ROM pack.
I don't have access to recovery mode since i don't have TWRP and my phone is bootloader locked
After downgrading to 8.2.1.0 and rebooting twice the problem has been fixed, it's been 48 hours and there is no more issue
it's really sad that NOBODY at Xiaomi forums/Help desk/ customer support gave a single S#it about it.
If you are going to purchase a Xiaomi phone, think it twice, there is 0 support. Besides XDA.

You should check your IMEI *#06#
If IMEI is missing:
Open the file imei.qcn using hex editor and looking for value:
Code:
08 8A 96 72 01 42 99 81 05 - Sim 1
08 8A 96 72 01 42 99 81 86 - Sim 2

I just unlocked bootloader and tried.
Xiaomi.eu rom
Lineage rom,
both of them have this bug, the only way to have a functional rom is with official global stable 8.2.10
Sigh

Hi, I bought my device with global stable 8.5 rom with officially unlocked bootloader with replaced imei (Turkey Problems).
Installed miui 9 developer beta without problem (xiaomitool)
Downloaded 9 stable recovery virsion and installed with Setting, system updates, select package...
Device booted but no sim or no wifi network. So I cannot pass mi cloud account validation.
I can flash twrp and all fastboot versions of xiaomi roms.
Xiaomi roms can boot but I can not pass mi cloud step.
RR, mokee roms installed succesfully but they don't boot.
I have QCN file backup but I can not restore it because I can not take phone to diag mode over twrp.
Is this problem related to QCN file, any suggestions ?
same problem here
You could try with a usb type c to ethernet adapter to pass activation.
Strange Problem you ve got
Hey! I wanted to ask if you found a fix for your issue since I am having the same problem now after updating my phone.
Ty
Mokee and RR will probably work if you format phone by typing yes in twrp after installing the zip

Hi, I have installed Pie update on my Mi A2 Lite however due to amount of the bugs I got back to Oreo V9.6.10.0.ODLMIFF. Since that time my SIM cards got swapped - SIM tray 1 is visible in settings as SIM 2 and vice versa. What is more annoying whenever I insert new card while phone is on, it does not auto detect that SIM has been just inserted and need to reboot phone each time I replace SIM in order to get connected to network. Can anyone help me with fixing this so the SIM ordering is corrected in software and auto detection is back on? Already tried reflashing rom and getting back to Pie but no improvements.

I have a strange thing going on with the storage. I updated to Pie, wiped everything, but in the settings, under storage > other apps and system shows incorrect value.
I reset all from the settings but it didn't change anything. I reset from recovery (stock - wipe all) it still persists. What should I do?
how you updated?
this problem solfed if manually edit flash script for fastboot. you need change "system_other.img" to "system.img" and reflash all
Through MiFlash.
OMG. Do you mean flash_all_lock.bat, flash_all_lock.sh, flash_all_lock_crc.bat or flash_all_lock_crc.sh? Or sth else? I saw this one system_other.img when comparing to 9.6.4.0 but thought it should be fine.
I reflashed Pie with changed values in all the above files but I lost my SIM cards. So I flashed 9.6.4.0 Oreo again, just plain stock and leave it.
---
I was on the stock 9.6.4.0 and OTA update at this point has 2 stages. First one updates to 9.6.11.0 Oreo with November security update which messes up SIM cards, one slot isn't working at all and WiFi/LTE internet is super slow. The second one updates to Pie but SIM cards' problems persists. The only solution with skipping this troublemaker is updating via MiFlash, but in this case there's a storage bug, because of system_other.img. When I reflashed with corrected fastboot files I lost 2 SIM cards so I went back to Oreo.

This doesn't work for me, I get a bootloop whenever I flash modem.img only. And even when I get my SIM cards to work the slots are swapped. Tried that many times. I had to reprogram my IMEIs via QFIL. But I found a solution to the storage problem, which works for updating to Pie via MiFlash: just enter EDL mode (fastboot oem edl), unlock bootloader first and lock afterwards.
Bought this phone last year. Rooted and installed Havoc OS. I used it about 6 months then got a Oneplus 6t so took it out of service. This week I decided to pop the SIM card in it and after reboot I have service for about 3 seconds then it stops and the Wifi keeps toggling on and off. Tried changing the APN.
Any help is appreciated.
update: WiFi works without the SIM card in. updated Havoc and still nothing.

I have the same issue with any Android 10 or 9 I tried so far. All network and Wifi works totally fine with LineageOS 15.1, but with 16 or 17.1 I get the same problem you described. Tried Havoc as well, but it's just the same
Tried to download Pixel Experience but the download is too slow and fails at some point. As soon as I manage to install it I'll update this post!
I tried to install the carrier service (read somewhere it might help) as well, but it didn't solve the problem either. Changed the APN and the preferred network type (LTE/GSM etc). Nothing.
I also tried it with different GApps (Open Gapps, Mind the GApps, MicroG) or none at all. Same issue.
I ordered a new SIM card which again works fine with android 8.1 (LineageOS 15.1) on the same phone, but not with higher versions of android. As soon as the SIM is removed Wifi works just fine.
Ran out of ideas and will have to switch back to LineageOS 15.1, I guess...
[update] what seems to have done the trick for me was to update the firmware. I just downloaded the most recent one following this post and flashed it using TWRP (v3.3.1-1). No problems with dropping Wifi so far, network connection seems low (2 of 4 bars) but stable.
