Musixmatch app problem. - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hi! I wanted to install this app for using it's floating window functionality, but when I go to enable it, as the screen is on landscape mode, and I guess the resolution is to low? (1280x600), instead of showing the entire window, it shows me only the red area on the picture, making it impossible to enable the "draw on screen" function.
Any guess?

So here was my process, I should mention this was on a PX5 Dasaita MTCD(E) I noticed after the fact this was for MTCB.
Installed system updates to latest, MCU as well, I then rooted the head unit and tried to use a resolution changing app to see if it would allow me to see the permission button, in doing so it got stuck sideways without showing apps and I had to factory reset the head unit and start over.
In the end after reorganizing and installing apps, the head unit is now unrooted I'm pretty sure, I went into the advanced menu in app permissions for Musixmatch, and toggled the "Draw over apps" switch to ON, it somehow seemed to work because it didn't when I tried that before root, all of a sudden the app started drawing over like normal and floating lyrics worked.
I mention all this only because it might have something to do with the root/fresh install that allowed it to work. At the end of the day the app is sort of sluggish, floating icon looks blurry, and it seemed to cause the unit to spaz out and freeze up when running the floating lyrics with Google Maps + Spotify, too much to handle I guess.
I hope it helps to some degree! My advice would be to mess with the permission setting and reboot it before rooting unless you're comfortable rooting just for the hell of it.

[Q] HELP - showing small window

I have a completely stock Nexus running 4.0.2 and I am having an issue. i was told install Spare Parts from another user. when you search "spare parts" in the market, you get 2 results:
this one, which was the top result:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidapps.spare_parts&feature=search_result
and this one, which was under the first one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidgram.spareparts&feature=search_result
i installed the first one and i got a small window. i thought, OK well the app isn't optimized for ICS so i uninstalled it. i then installed the second one, which work, but didn't change any settings, so i also uninstalled it. my problem starts here. when i opened up Chandroid (a very basic application used to look at chans) the screen went black and little window from the first link popped up. this when i started freaking out, because i uninstalled both apps and its popping up. this never happened before, so i must have done something wrong. can someone please help me? I'm seriously panicking here.

thank you so much. you saved the day. if i turn GPU rendering back on, will it pop back up again?
Yup, afraid so...
Oh OK. What do you think will get red of it permanently? I would have to do a hard reset, wouldn't I?

It's a problem with apps that aren't compatible with the gpu rendering. Your options are to either fix the app, or turn off rendering...

SOLVED: Unable to install Amazon Appstore?

I am having a problem installing the Amazon Appstore (and the foxfi installer too now that I think about it). I am able to download the APK and run it but once in the program the install button does nothing. I mean I click on it and there is no error message, no program crash, nothing. It's almost like the install button image isn't a button and I'm clicking on nothing. Clicking cancel or show all for the permissions works fine.
I have enabled install from unknown sources and even tried to disable it and try but nothing works. Has anyone encountered anything like this before? TIA for any help.
EDIT: BTW I'm on stock and not rooted.
SOLVED: Thanks to Zerkai it appears that Screen Filter and Screen Adjuster can prevent APKs from installing.
Try to install these apps with an APK Installer. Like the following.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwyLDEsImNvbS5wb3RlbnRlLmFway5pbnN0YWxsZXIiXQ..
See if that changes anything.

Just tried that and it is exhibiting the same issue. Called amazon and they hadn't heard of it and had no suggestions on how to fix it. They did mention security apps might be able to block installs and that led me to look at my apps. I did have Norton mobile security installed but stopping it and then even uninstalling it didn't get rid of the issue.
This is really starting to frustrate me.
May sound obvious, but have you tried restarting your phone?
If you were rooted I'd recommend clearing your dalvik and /cache.
One thing you may try is cleaning up your SD card.. Even try renaming the android folder on your sd card. It holds app data for diff apps. you system will recreate it. just delete the recreated on and change the name back after you've tested it.
The only other option (that comes to mind) is a factory reset. I would try the other stuff first. Something is corrupt somewhere.
By any chance are you using, Screen Filter?

I am not, but I did have screen adjuster installed and figured whatever screen filter was doing might be done by screen adjuster. So I uninstalled and guess what it worked now. Thanks a lot Zerkai, you the man.
But wtf would screen filter do that could cause this?
Beats me. Lol. I was baffled when I figured out Screen Filter was the cause. But all is well as long as it's not active. Have a good day!

Old thread. Yes, I know. Came across this thread trying to fix the same issue. The app causing the issue for me was JuiceDefender. I think JD controlling the screen's brightness level was the issue. Anyway, I disabled JD and I was able to access the button.

[Q] Tab S 8.4 will not auto-rotate screen! Stuck on portrait.

I just got the Tab S 8.4 yesterday and I am trying to figure if I am missing something. My screen will not rotate, it will stay in portrait mode all the time, it will not go to landscape mode on anything...youtube, internet, gallery, etc. Yes...the SCREEN ROTATION is on in settings. I have turned it on and off and still nothing. I even went ahead and did a reset. Still nothing.
Am I missing something?
Probably not, just need to return it. Something might be wrong with its hardware or software that will not make the screen rotate.
Is screen rotation highlighted when you pull down the notification panel? If it is download SENSOR BOX FOR ANDROID from play and see if the orientation sensor is working.

Screen Rotation is highlighted when I pull down the notification panel. I will download the app and check it out. I mean, what can I do anyways if it does show that the sensor is working correctly?
Are you using a different launcher?

at least you will know the hardware is working. You could also try SET ORIENTATION from play to see if you can force it.

Set orientation did work. It did change the orientation of the screen from portrait to landscape. But it stood that way, meaning everything was either going to be stuck in portrait mode or landscape.
As for the launcher...its stock touchwiz. I have not tried any other launchers.
What was the result of the sensor test?

im not home with the tablet yet. All those things I did yesterday night. I will try the sensor test first thing when i get home.
Ok, I downloaded app and no good. The gyroscope sensor did not move correctly. The accelerometer sensor showed me the worse. The ball just rolled to the top right corner and stood there. Did not move at all, even when I slam down on any direction. Returning this tablet.
Thanks everyone.

I bought an Open Box for about $90 off from Best Buy, the 10.5 Tab S, and had the same issue with no rotation of screen. I only tested it with other programs that will change orientation for you, and it worked then, but not automatically, only when using the app. I checked all settings, including accessibility, I flushed the cache using the Recovery mode, but no luck. I did get lucky though at Best Buy, as they were awesome and ended up giving me a brand new one in exchange, without any additional charge. There may be some manufacturing defects in the sensors that are causing these issues. Good luck to you too sir.
Ive seen it said that some people, who've had the same problem, gave the tablet a sharp slap on the back to fix it.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 just exhibited the same problem today. A sharp slap to the back of the tablet did fix it...
Thanks.
i know this thread is 1 year old however i purchased a brand new S2 8 inch tablet from canada computers and it too will not rotate the screen on its own. If i use a 3rd party software it has no issues rotating but it stays that way until i rotate it otherwise manually. Brand new less than 1 day old and i already have to warranty it with Samsung disappointed that such a premium tablet having an issue out of the box. Also all sensor software in install all indicate there are no sensors installed.
Edit: ok now everything works great and all sensors work now on Sensor Box. I had to do a hard cache reset of the cache partition using that dos look alike menu at startup.

This confuses me since the Android settings Backup / Restore has "Factory Reset" which I did twice and it didn't work, then I pressed power button, volume up and home button to bring up the other menu on bootup and selected the format cache partition option. This resolved the issue and was happy I didn't loose my data unlike the backup/restore had wiped all my data. Is that still considered a factory reset? I did see the option to factory reset but didn't select it, I opted to try the cache partition instead which I was glad had worked. Saved me from taking my new unit back to be repaired.
theres an app called bubble level (spirit level) i used to re-calibrate my sensor since there isn't a built in way anymore, if the slapping doesn't work or you don't wanna risk it try that.

Install button not working

Hi,
Fairly basic Android user here with an irritating problem. Running whatever the most basic version of Lollipop is on my M8, installed today but this problem has been ongoing well before that.
So the problem is that the 'Install' button here on the screen in the image attached is totally unresponsive, no matter the app I'm trying to install. Showbox is here but that's just because it's an old apk I had on my phone, I've the same problem for anything I've tried.
In the fine words of Ned Flanders' father, I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas - thought it best to ask for advice from people who know more than me. Any advice much appreciated!

I have indeed!
Do you have any screen dimming app installed? I've had the same issue on my phone with total screen control, whenever I tried to install an app with TSC running the install button was unresponsive. When I stopped TSC from running I could press install without issue.
Some apps will for some reason stop you from hitting install. For example.... I use copy bubble... Which has a floating circle for accessing the clipboard. If that bubble is on my screen, I can't hit install... No matter where the bubble is on my screen. I just close the bubble and it's fine.
Look at apps that may be causing the same affect. ?

Can't press 'Install' when installing an APK

Good evening, just lately I have encountered a bug when trying to install APK's. When I go to install via Package Installer it will open up the screen and when I go to press next it doesn't do anything, I have tried rotating the screen and pressing Next and it just doesn't work whatsoever...
I powered off my device and powered back on and this seemed like it fixed the problem.
Is/has anyone else encountered this? I've also noticed ometimes when typing on the keyboard the sound goes tinny for 5 seconds or so and go back to normal, it's been like this since unboxing too.
I haven't had this issue exactly, but when I install a new app and it asks for permission to access my location/storage/etc.. I can't press Allow.. I can press Deny though no problem at all. Right now I'm manually going into apps/permissions and granting all my apps whatever I think it needs.. Just a pain to do it that way though!
I had this issue the other night. It seems an invisible overlay gets stuck sometimes. Not sure what app or why, but clearing all the recent apps fixed it for me. Try that if it happens again instead of waiting for the phone to restart.
Sent from my G3223
Also had this problem two days ago and restarting seemed to fix it. I was disabling some of the stock apps at the time so I wondered if that had something to do with it but I don't know, don't think I re-enabled any of the apps or anything before or after the reboot and so far it's been working since.

Thanks for your feedback and I have also had that problem too. Of course yes we can go into app settings and enable and like you stated it's a pain haha. I know this isn't the place to point these problems out and get them fixed but it's nice to know I'm not the only one ??

I'd like to mention I have disabled and uninstalled quite a lot too, but I can't say if this adds to the problem. It'd just be really nice to hopefully get the new build of software that was recently announced on Xperia Blog but I can't say if this will fix the problems etc. I don't know? ??

I've experienced this issue as well and the culprit seemed to be an overlay permission from another app. As I'm sure everyone knows, this phone's screen is very bright even at it's lowest setting. I like to read at night and the light bothers my wife so I started using an app called Nightowl that further dims the screen. Nightowl produces a overlay that dims the entire screen. If i happen to be running nightowl and try to install the app, I can't tap install. Once I turn off the app I'm able to install like normal. Hope that helps lead you in the right direction as restarting the phone every time a problem presents itself is kind of a bummer.
