So, this is the behaviour I'm looking for: at night no sounds except alarms.
No way I can achieve that: either no sound at all (including alarms) or alarms AND WhatsApp notifications.
To my understanding setting DND mode (Settings -> Sound -> Do not disturb -> Mode) to "Priority only" should enable only alarms and the applications selected as "priorities" by checking them in Settings -> Sound -> Do not disturb -> Select priorities -> App notifications. So far so good, just let all the apps in the list unchecked and no notification will sound, right? Wrong, WhatsApp is NOT in the list, I cannot uncheck it and its notifications play their sound at night.
BTW: I also set to "No one" Settings -> Sound -> Do not disturb -> Select priorities -> Calls from and Messages from.
Anybody with the same problem? Potential solutions?
Well, I got a reply for myself, I guess.
The setting I was looking for is in Setting -> Apps & notifications -> App info -> WhatsApp -> App notifications -> Messages notifications (or Groups notifications) (tap on "..." before the switch) -> Override Do not Disturb.
Easy, isn't it?
The fact that WhatsApp is missing from "Select priorities" is a bug to my eye.

Hi Guys,
Any hack for the light near the ear speaker to show(blink) missed calls or new emails or sms?
thanks.
It's a standard function
Start > Settings > Sound > Advanced > Notifications tab > Select the thing you want a light to blink for... and there somewhere is a checkbox where you can let the light blink for a couple of minutes, or till you read it etc.
Start > Settings > Sound > Advanced > Notifications tab
NO ADVANCED i only have notifications and there i have

[Q] How do I turn off volume for text/notifications but leave it one for the phone ring?
You don't till root
Interruption mode?
Sent from my SGP611 using XDA Free mobile app
@pepporony: yup
There's a relatively easy way to do it.
1- Go to Settings> Sound & Notification> Interruptions> Priority Only
In here, you customize the settings for the Priority Only mode (see point 3-)
2- Check Incoming Calls and uncheck the rest (or however you want it set up)
3- Back to home screen, bring down the notification panel, tap on All Interruptions, which will turn to Priority Only.
Done.

it works, :good:
Alternatively, you can set system sounds to silent (settings -> sounds -> volume). That includes notifications, annoying boot noise and audio touch feedback.
I don't know what else it turns off, but whatever it is, I don't miss it.
With this approach you can keep the priorities logic intact.
Hello, I turned off the notification for Facbook and few other apps in Settings -> Apps -> Notification -> Block All is ON, but I still have the notifications (sounds). What I have to do for this problem? I don't want those notification sounds! Thanks
(sorry for my english...)
Hi guys,
Need help with GPS notification.
Whenever the GPS is activated, it will trigger the notification sound. How can I go about to disable this?
Currently on OnePlus 5t, version 5.1.2 (2018-05-30).
Had the same prpvolem even when on previous updates.
Appreciate all inputs. Thanks.
Settings > notifications > 3 dots in upper right corner > show system processes > Android System in the list > either disable the gps toggle or lower the priority of the notification (i have it on medium)
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the sound settings.
When i go to change the ringtone for calls, sms, alarm etc it shows the mp3 files that i have in my phone and not the stock ringtones menu of the device.
I clicked that option accidentally the first time i went in the sound settings, and i can't undo it.
Is there a way to see the ringtone menu again?
Thanks!

Yes, you can reset the settings as follows;
Settings > Apps & notifications > "See all apps" > click the three dots in upper right corner > Reset app preferences
