Live focus has improved!
https://i.imgur.com/W3dWNlz.jpg

The colours really pop out next to the S9, live focus is great on both cameras, the wide lenses are fantastic.
I'm a little disappointed with the selfie camera, it forces skin smoothing effects and shifts the colour temperature too, trying to make it "pretty" I don't need the AI to pre-edit stuff for me unless I specifically want it to, and there seems to be no way to disable that.

Why HDR+ is always grayed out ?

I can't believe how good the camera quality is coming from a note 9, although it wasn't hard to beat. All photos of my daughter were blurry and looked really bad. On the s10+ they're blur free and also the HDR function works so good, far less blown out highlights and sunny day shots look awesome.
I'm very impressed so far!

Two photos I love taken on my S10+!

Ultra Wide Angle

I had the S8+ and then S9+ before this and I'm really happy with the camera but in my opinion the low light shots on the S10+ actually seem a fair bit more noisy than the S9+. I'm not talking pitch black but just as the sun is starting to drop in the late afternoon.

Live focus mode.

Exactly, even indoors shots have this "blurriness". Daytime shots under the Sun look fine.

Is there a big difference between the SD855 and Exynos 9820 camera's?

i dunno how you guys are all getting nice pictures out of the s10 + my s10+ everytime i take a picture of my dog.. the fur is blurry looks like a camera from like 5 years ago.. the selling point was the camera for me and so far it looks absolutely like crap =/

@XDA_RealLifeReview have you noticed that samsung is overexposing the front cam pictures which make it look weird and grainy but as soon as u turn to front cam video it appears much more natural and true to life.
But the back cam is pretty damn good!!
Anyway of reducing the overexposure, i have already disabled all beauty modes and i have tried that brightness slider but it keeps resetting everytime.

Beach day!
Not sure why my pics upload that way. I can't seem to fix the orientation.

pictures looks great ... but there is no detail everything is melted and blended together ... too much software tweaks ... unfortunate - when buying I was expecting something better
Yes. I noticed even viewing Online Demos on my Phone that the S6 Photos were sharper and more detailed than S7.
The S7 in good light seems more similar in Detail to iPhone 6.
Not sure how S7 Camera got such a high rating.
If shooting low light it has advantages but does not seem to equal S6 in good light.
"Three iPhones and a Stripper walk into a Bar."..oh wait...no iPhone jokes...
This camera is unreal. Where my Sony Z3 would struggle this phone shows it's mustard incredibly well. Impeccable detail that is on par with some micro four thirds cameras out there. I'm very very impressed.
I think the pictures are fantastic. Way better than my SGS4 I switched from.
They seem to be the same as my S6 in quality, but better in low light, which is about what I expected. The S7 camera is just a touch better than the S6's from what I can see. Not sure what the other guys are getting, but this is on par with my S6 for sure.
COmpare this to my old phone, the Xperia Z3, the photo quality is much better despite its 12MP camera. The optical stabalization is awesome. i can zoom into an object and the object will stay relatively stable.
wish it was better
by the way, be sure to check out my website
The pictures and videos looks great on the phone but when transferred to PC or uploaded it is not the same. This is because of the AMOLED.
i just moved from lumia 950 to s7 and im very disappointed with pic quality , but apps make it up i guess

The best low light camera phone with f1.8 aperture. Should I skip the DSLR?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Using pro mode
To avoid Samsung high postprocessing with extreme software sharpening i'm using RAW and than convert it with Photoshop. There is much more details in RAW so, picture quality is better.
Try Snap Camera...

After all the hype and rave reviews about the camera, I thought I'd be getting a DSLR quality camera. Using the default settings, the camera isn't that good and overprocesses everything. Pro mode fixes that and RAW photography is excellent though.
I haven't thoroughly tested the phone, I just got it 8-9 hours ago, but initial impressions is it's light years better then my old LG G3.

Selfie quality

You're beautiful and everyone knows it. That's why you take selfies. Rate this thread to express how the front-facing camera of the Samsung Galaxy S7 performs. A higher rating indicates that the front camera produces fantastic results consistently.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The front facing camera is permanently fixated on things in the background while things (faces) at selfie distances are out of focus. This defeats the purpose of the front facing camera. It doesn't seem to adjust its focus ever...
However, I do like the raise your hand or say cheese to take a picture function.
Noticed the same thing, pictures on face are a blurry mess compared to my s6.
Yep noticed too, and I even made a comparison with the S6, which resulted sharper..
I have an S7 and my wife has the S7 edge and the front camera is the best we ever had.
my sister was complaining the same thing but it thought she was being nit picky as she just switched form Apple but i guess it might be a known issue then.
Front camera is totaly out of focus! Has anyone else noticed that? A flagship phone shall never have such low level defect!

Welcome to the party, check out the S7 camera thread and you will see that many have this issue.
The front camera is utilising the center focus mode. Mine is working great. Sharps selfies and lots of details. Look at the eyes and the baby's shirt that is in focus. Tey are sharp and clear.

Not impressed, blurry snapshots.
took this one today with my front camera I'm very satisfied with its quality
extremely disappointed with the front facing camera. very blurry selfies.
blurry and feels like the beauty filter is on eventhough its off.
my s6 was way more realistic.
Camera too wide inducing unwanted distortion and even with all the beauty feature turned off, image still look very paint like.
I'm interested by this topic. Any sample? The picture above is not really sharp. I hesitate with the One Plus 3.
Thanks

I've created a thread on Samsung forum regarding this. Front camera has fixed focus to infinity instead of 40-50cm and software libs apply a crazy blur on faces and skin tones especially when iso goes up. It's incredible, I use screenshot of viewfinder to have a better picture than the shooted one!

can you post some sample screenshots of camera here?
So far medium to high brightness takes excellent photos. I am finding HD much more appealing than HDR in most situations. In low light HD or manual mode must be used to get an acceptable photo. HD works very well in a single 13w(cfl) light illuminates room (low bedroom light level).
Soft fine grain present in photo, but it is not distracting and plenty of detail left.
So I opened the hidden service menu *#808# and went through al the test and when I came at the "optical image stabilizer" it says failed...anyone else has this? Could it be software disabled or is my camera faulty?

this phone has super hd camera the best thing i like on it
Camera seems to be very compareable to my 6S Plus. In low light the iPhone does a slightly better job, in good lighting the 1+3.
The stabilisation for video is much better in the iPhone.
I got my 3 Saturday morning these photos were taken in the afternoon all default settings

Important tip for making the most out of the 1+3 camera...if you want to take a good macro, you cannot rely on automatic mode. Switch to manual focus, dial it all the way down, and you'll get insane macros like this:

That pavement picture is my new wallpaper xD
I have both the 6p and the HTC 10 and while the 10 sucks and the 6p is hard to beat I am pleasantly surprised with the op3. It's really good actually. https://goo.gl/photos/RgwFUT3Rwhyt6XJL6
I am using Camera FV-5 and Cinema FV-5. So far no problems with them. Also to my eyes they seem to have better image quality.
I am uploading 2 photos: Direct jpg from camera app, another is edit of the same image in snapseed app(edited jgp, not raw file).
I am happy with the camera quality
When looking at photos other people have taken with the OP3 it often looks like they have a watercolour filter on them when you zoom in due to the image processing, but some other images don't. Is anyone who has the device able to explain this?
Thanks

Really great pics!! ?
my pics
After testing the OP3 and my 6P, the SD820 could be a beast, but man the pics on the 6P are much much better, specially in a low light environment AKA where most pictures happen AKA in your house. I cant say i am dissapointed, its pics are good in daytime and average in low light for a "$400 phone". But not sure I am going to keep it. So if you are planning on dumping your Galaxy, 6P or iphone for this phone, you might want to wait for another one if the camera is that important to you.
Hope this helps someone.

Camera pictures look washed out

Hello folks,
I'm pretty unimpressed with the cameras on the Mi 9 SE.
Landscape pictures look great but as soon as I make close up pictures or zoom in the pictures look washed out. The entire Miui camera app is just unusable and all pictures look bad.
The GCam port is way better but software can't fix everything.
As you can see in the pictures below, it looks washed out and the color if the creature aren't powerful. And I have that with nearly every picture I take.

AI is off and HDR is on but it isn't sharp and looks blurry kinda like a beauty filter but the beauty filter is also disabled.
And this picture is taken with the GCam port.
Any tips why some picture look washed out?
Honestly Mi 9 SE takes more sharper photos compare to some flagship phones. Clean your camera lens before taking pictures because it becomes dirty easily. Keep camera frame at 4:3. Play with camera settings like saturation and contrast. I keep everything stock and results are amazing even close up shots. In this price range it is the best phone for its camera performance, just look at camera comparisons at youtube.
Terrible camera
I see its an old post but i am surprised nobody else responded with recognision. A month ago i bought an Mi9SE for its camera and i have been nothing but dissapointed. Its blurry, that just wraps it all up. My old xperia Z5 compact takes better pictures.
I havent taken one picture on which i could seperate the wimpers of someones eyes no matter what i do. I had the same idea, as if there is a hidden beautifier that just disrupts it all even when you turn the actual beautifier off.
Did you got any further with this?

Sorry for these words but "Blind" peope will suck always. But I help you. Gcam 7.2 for mi9se got updates nowdays. My s8's camera is killed for example
And, I am super happy with this phone, with kowalski's custom kernel and Bliss rom, + my optimizations, the phone has good vattery and super fluid. I use 78HZ display. After I unlocked tge phone, feels like I have a totally different phone
I reached 7h screen on time on 4G when I used 60hz display.

Question Anyone has JPG/Raw Samples of Fold 4?

Hi,
thinking about getting an fold4,
i'm wondering if anyone could share some full jpg/dng samples? Just landscape or city scene or something
Hard to find some, i just found some processed/resized images here and there in review.
Would make me happy
Thanks & have a nice sunday
I've actually being comparing the photos from the 4 with my old S21U. Essentially the S21U shots are a tiny bit better, but not enough 4 is surprisingly close. Excluding x10 optical zoom ofcourse.
No perceivable shutter lag, though AF isn't as quick as on the S21 U, especially for close up subjects.
Overall am very happy with the shots out of the Fold.
x3 lens full res jpg, first is HDR shot, 2nd portrait mode hand held.

Main lens portait mode and night mode.
thanks a lot,
the grass is not really there, just a muddy greenish plane
but hdr and 3x zoom, still seems quite wide for 3x lens.
the second shot looks better, but. even there is dithering?/ too less color resolution?
portrait mode else looks quite ok to get photoraphs without too much crazy-going colors?
s20 ultra pictures always looked so unrealistic.

If you are talking about the sun set shot, the exposure was unbelievably challenging, I'm actually really happy with what the camera was able to produce. To the naked eye, all you can see is blinding sunlight .
Here are some 'normal' shots, the over warm colors is simply a Samsung thing....see below, wide angle, normal, and x3. These shots are basically the same as what my S21 U would do. Clearly no x10 optical.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the cameras on the Fold 4.
I also have the S21U and I think the HDR is better on the Fold 4.
Maybe the CPU.
Anyways I took good looking pictures, that was a thing I was worried about
Next time I'm gonna take both my phones to make a real comparison.
Here is some samples in 12 mpx.
