Hello xda users !
I have a question about RN5 display. I don't have this phone yet, but I'm about to buy it. I'm a little bit concerned about its display, more precisly I would want to play Baldur's Gate on this phone (I love BG ) on my free time, for example when I'm on the plane or something. You know that in this game there are bars on the left and right side and in every corner there is a button to press (for example to freeze the time) and they're pretty close to those corners and on the RN5 the corners are slightly rounded. Will it be a problem?
I'll post a random screenshot that I found on the internet which shows the interface of the game, maybe even someone tested the game on this phone and know everything?

You're not helping me much. I am very decided to buy this phone so if You can't help me, just leave please.
I am 99% sure there will be no problem with that. Corners are rounded but not that much to interfere with app interface.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the response. Can you tell me something about Your experience with those rounded corners? Are they better (in terms of design and functionality) than square corners?

The rounded corners on this device are very subtle. They absolutely do not interfere with anything on the screen in regular use.
Regarding the game, you should be just fine. I don't believe it'd cut anything off, or at the very least, I'd say it might just perfectly leave the buttons alone.
All right, thanks for Your answer! :good: I'll see when I get the phone. I'll post the result then, maybe it'll help someone as well.

Yeah the corners are rounded way too small to bother with any content at all
I'll test and reply back
Yeah, as many of you pointed out, It doesn't cover anything necessary.

I got my note 4 days ago. At first everything was ok, but yesterday I noticed my device is terribly creaking. Almost every time I touch the back it sounds like the plastic would break a little bit (Although I don't think it would actually break).
Do you have the same issues? Or should I sent it back and get a new one, since it's really annoying me...?
Thank you )

Mine creaks a little in the bottom right corner. Everything else is fine. I think it's the plastic back giving a bit. I had this on the Nexus 10 as well.
Creaking is for Hollween not for my Tablet!

Yes, When I held the tablet with my left hand to touch the screen with my right it creaked like a rock band with bad music! Geeish.....the silver chrome or whatever the material is wasn't tight and it just bend. I returned it right away. I really didn't want to return it. However, I paid full price and not second hand money so I expect the performance to be right, that means no noise. When listening to music or watching a movie it seems as if someone was moving around and that can be pretty annoying. I tried holding it different ways with no change. So back it went. Let Samsung sell. This I know imagine you trying to sell it to the next person, what do you think they might say and how much will the value go down?

Yes, As soon as I opened the package, I noticed the bottom right hand corner was creaking an popping. It is not like I was looking for it. That made me investigate if the rest of the trim was doing the same. If you put your mind into into it, you can get some creaking from other ends of the trim but nothing like the bottom right hand corner. Every time I pick it up, it is annoying me so much that I feel I should take it back. I am not sure the guys at PCWorld would accept this as a reason for full money back or replacement claim. I do like the tablet, but do not want a noisy plastic in my hands.
Is this enough of a reason to ask for a replacement?

Sadly I dont think it is (pure guess so dont take my word for it) BUT I can 100% say that your Tablet will have a little bit of lightbleed along the bottom and sides....this alone is a good enough reason for them to accept and exchange - Good luck.

Could you please elaborate on the light bleed issue. How do you determine if you have a light bleed and what is the significance of it.

Put screen britghness to 100% and open this http://www.net-tracker.net/android/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/black_bg_1024x768.png, make sure it covers the entire screen inc notifications part and then switch off your lights in your room and you will then see light bleed, Its nothing major and common on LCD'S but it is a valid reason for a return/exchange.
I had lightbleeding on my first note but I found it to be acceptable however on my 2nd tablet I found the bleeding to be excessive and off putting so I got a refund from John Lewis,
Anyways this thread should give you an idea too - best of luck :good: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554094

If i look at it wrong, it makes noises. I might take it back and have them look at it... see if that warrants an exchange.

If your one is not creaking then this definitely should be a rightful exchange claim for all those unfortunate to pick up badly put together tablets.
I am even considering getting my money back and going the Apple way. Excellent build quality, and I know that because I got some for the kids.
yeah maybe idk. Sammy is also known for build issues lately so you have to really inspect before you take home. The Note 3 home button is all wonky and wobbly on a lot of units.

Sorry for the question, but what is "idk" in your post?
Having a creaking case, would that get worse in terms of speading all around the tablet's trim?
Any experiences but no guesses please!

"IDK" means "I Dont Know".
I guess if the creaking was coming from say a loose glass to the digitizer i think it could be something that spreads. Since if the glass isn't glued down well enough i could see slight dust getting in there and causing more separation over time. I doubt this is the case as you'd see bubbling at the edges if that was happening.
Hi, I just got the phone yesterday and right away I noticed that the left side of the aluminum framing is a little off?
It's hard to notice but if everybody can please take a moment and look at the left side, where the magnetic charging port, does that section tend to extrude a little more than the rest of the frame? Compare that part to the port flaps on top from an angle and you should see that the charging port section is extruding a little more ?
Thanks for your time and replies.

hmm, 50 views and nobody replied, does that mean nobody is having the same problem? just a defective unit ?
There is in other z1c devices too. Not all. Don't worry, I don't think it is a defect. Everything works as it should including magnetic charger and water resistance!
So in some devices, they aluminum frames are perfectly aligned while others are not and it's not considered a defect? I don't quite follow the logic here. Anybody else has a slight misalignment? It's not major but on an angle you can tell that the Magnetic charging port is slightly different compared to the flaps on top.

Have I offended you in anyway? In my post, I wasn't refering to your logic that I didn't follow, I'm referring to Sony. If there are obvious units out there with perfect alignment and some that aren't perfect, Sony should refer to those as defective units and issue a recall to fix it, no? It's a premium device after all. Didnt mean to offend you if i did, I'm sorry.

So post one that highlights what you're talking about, i.e face on.
I don't have the phone with me at work today, but those of you who have the phone with you, maybe you can pick it up and view it a little. The frame where the magnetic charging port sits, seems to protrude a little more than the frame near the flap areas.

If I stare at mine hard enough, I think I can see the part around the charger protruding slightly more than above and below it. But the difference is very small and not noticeable unless you're looking for it.

Look at angle from slightly bottom up, it's very minimum but once you find it, you can tell that the flap areas are more indented than the magnetic charging ports. I saw it last night once I got the phone. Try to turn the phone a little while you're looking at it, if the phone is sitting down on the table its very hard to tell. You have to be holding it and looking at the frame while moving the phone around. I just need to make sure that it'ts not a defective unit and that's how these phones were made. If not I'll return the phone for a replacement. All else with the phone is fine though. I'll also stop by a local store later to check out the z1 and z1s to see if they have the same problem.

okay here are the updated photos that i took. notice that on the left side, its not completely straight because of the extra protruding from the magnetic charger port.
I was kidding earlier with the OCD .
To be honest, I do not see anything wrong in the pictures. Maybe I really can not see it. You need to get right the reflections in order to evidentiate such think in a photo.
Bottom line: if YOU do not like it, go ahead and exchange it or return it. Anyway, the small, fine details, that you are looking after, will not be at the level of an iPhone. That's a fact.

I don't see anything either in those photos.
To be sure that you're not just seeing an optical illusion from the reflections of the changing surface along that edge, why not just take a ruler to it and measure? Or place on a piece of paper and trace an outline? Does it wobble if you rest it on that edge?
You'll never be certain if you just rely on your eyes.
This is mine.

The way you've applied your screen protector would be more annoying. Lay the left side on a flat surface and that will highlight it more, but to me it looks like the protective plastic is giving the illusion that it is.
Hi!
Just got my Moto 360 today, and overall I am very happy. However, I got this weird pixel "thing" as you get when the screen is wet in sunshine. It's really hard to explain but I took a photograph of it and circled it with a red brush. This is around the whole screen where the bezel meets the display and not just on the sides as the photo is showing. This is only noticeable while having a white or brighter background. Is this normal?

There is no way to make it square. the display itself is with rounded corners.
looks sweet the way it is honestly
i actually downloaded Rounded Corners so I could make them more rounded like a galaxy s8 lol, I Like it. I don't think it software based either
im getting the phone in a weeks time. i was also wondering. Can we make the screen more curved like the pixel, s8 etc.
Can someone try cornify or another app and round the corners a bit more and send pics/ screenshots. does it interfere with the clock if u curve them a bit more?

You are incorrect, the screen is square and not physically rounded like the LG G6.
You can see proof of this by watching the corners carefully while you press the power button to turn off the screen. You'll see that for a split second the round corners go away, proving that it is merely a software change.
Hopefully a Dev will chime in on how this might be done.

No I removed that allready. Between the glas and the metall frame there is a plastic filling which will work as shock absorber. This is normal. But is feels like it is too high. So I feel it when moving my finger over it as a sharp edge especially on the corners.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Between the glass screen and the metal body, there is a plastic gasket that sits ever so slightly above the glass and creates a sharp feeling.

Build quality can differ quite "sharply" between devices. I remember when I got the iPhone 4 on release and it had holes in the rubber seal between the screen and bezel. A replacement from the same shop that day had no such issue but had uneven screen placement and light bleed. It happens.
As I see it the problem is not with the gasket but the glas. it is more rounded on the corners.
