I still haven't received the PIE on my S9 - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Is this normal? It's 20 feb already. The attached screenshot shows that it's still on the june 1 security update.
Samsung support has only responded once and stated that the distribution process has started at 16 jan 2019. All my friends and acquaintances have received the update but not me and I'm manually checking for updates daily. (I have also tried installing smartswitch on my pc, and it still displays that my phone is updated)
Is it possible that I have encountered a bug?

There's also www.updato.com

You can also use the smart switch desktop app to do it. I used it to downgrade my s9 from pie beta to official oreo.

It's very typical for carriers and manufacturers (including Google for Nexus/Pixel) to do staggered rollouts of updates. It reduces server load, but more importantly, if there is a bug the people who get it early (there are typically not that many who get it early) would report the bug. Then the second batch of people getting it is bigger, then the third even bigger. Rollouts can last 3-4 weeks. I wouldn't panic. We are their beta testers.
Location probably doesn't matter. I'm based in OC, but currently in the Palm Springs area.

Hi,
Identical to the RETEU update from the last week! Still waiting for a "real" update.
Still nowt for retgb
I tried to adb sideload the zip above but I get an error. Any ideas? I dropped the name "BLUR version" and renamed the zip "update.zip"...got the error. I redownloaded and renamed to NPNS25.137-35-5...same error
Edit: here is the error message "package expects build thumbprint of 7.0/NPNS25.137-35-5/5 user release-keys or 7.0/NPN25.137-35/37 user release keys; this device has 7.0/NPN25.137-33/35 user/release -keys"
Is there another firmware that I need to download and apply first?
Edit 2: does motorola require fastboot all the files (unzipped) instead of adb? In my other phones I just put the update.zip file on the root directory and applied with stock recovery. That did not work either. Same error message.

This update should contain the bugfixes up through the May security bulletins if I understand it correctly.
https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/
Started prompting me for this update last weekend on amz branch.
Im in NYC as well and just got the update. It showed as NPN25.137-35 but it said it was a 20MB download. I have the amazon prime version of the phone and once i finished the update, it still shows NPN25.137.33 and the security patch level still shows Jan1, 2017.
Now when i check for updates, software is up to date. Wierd. Anyone else experience this?
I've checked for a US g5+ support page fairly regularly since getting the phone. It hasn't even been listed on the support page until the last week or so. But, while it's finally listed.......there's only a generic Lenovo placeholder on it. Several months after the phone's release.
https://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Cell-Phones/Android-Series/Moto-G-Plus-5th-Gen
I've got a Lenovo laptop......their customer service and software upgrades suck. I once sent in my rather expensive Yoga laptop for warranty trackpad repair......and they had it for two months and despite repeated checking their website and calling, I could never get an estimated repair date. Finally, they gave me a date......4 more months. I raised holy hell and they sent me a new, more recent Yoga release. The support page for the laptop seems to update with Lenovo bloatware "upgrades" fairly regularly.....but their support for more important basic drivers is pretty lacking (wifi, bluetooth and graphics drivers from 2015 and 2016, anybody? Yeah, didn't think so.). And, yeah, first thing I do when getting any new PC is a clean install with no bloatware, but Lenovo also makes it tough to keep drivers updated through forced windows updates by using hardware IDs which make it hard for you to install generic component drivers, unimportant drivers like Intel graphics drivers. So you install the latest, and a forced windows update uninstalls the Intel release and installs a mid-2016 driver for you. Thanks! So there are obscure ways to defeat that.
Oh, and then there's the touchpad Synaptics drivers (Lenovo specific) where two finger tap (right click menu) has NEVER been fixed. Takes a registry modification to fix it.
Anyway...enough venting about Lenovo/Moto poor support. I knew it when I purchased the phone, and I'd still buy it again.

Thx a lot for the August security patch.
Quick question, it's been awhile since I flashed updates from recovery. My son is using my old Note 4 without a SIM, so these updates are my path to keeping him up to date on security. If I flash from recovery the two latest security updates (he's on June), I'll wipe his phone, right? Will ODIN for these zips avoiding wiping him, or do I just have to have him backup/restore first?

Odin will wipe everything, so you will need to backup first. Only way to save everything is by the incremental OTA updates
My N910A is a bit behind in updates it looks like. I've unboxed it and its on Android 5.1.1 with baseband version N910AUCU2DOI3, 3.10.40-5613584 kernel, patch level 2016-02-01.
What upgrade path should I take if I want to reach marshmallow? I'm not sure what can be skipped.

Use the Odin link, and that gets you within one or two updates. Let the phone cool for an hour between updates.
If we get an update it will be an I update (we're on h now), and it will have the blueborne Bluetooth bug fix.
https://www.sammobile.com/2017/09/25/samsung-rolls-security-patches-fix-blueborne-vulnerability/
Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a S2EQI1 file on the server yet...
I hope AT&T is not leaving us with a major Bluetooth bug. Note 4 is near end of life.
Links forU2EPK1 to S2EPK2 and S2EPK2 to S2EPK3 do not work anymore
Hey guys,
I'm currently on N910AUCU2EPK1 baseband version and would like to update to newer versions.
I've already dowloaded all the most recent ones except the S2EPK2 and S2EPK3 and therefore cannot install them since I would first need to download and install the S2EPK2 and S2EPK3.
The download pages are not working anymore.
would really appreciate if you could help me on this matter.
Thanks for all your support
Utmost Thanks!
From a very old (and annoying) member still clinging to his Note 4 with removable battery (on my third battery now) I thank you so much for keeping my AT&T updated here in the United Arab Emirates....
Verizon has released the latest Note 4 security patches. Hopefully att won't be too far behind. https://www.sammobile.com/2017/09/21/galaxy-note-4-blueborne-patch-released-verizon/
I still cannot find any files on the ATT server.. Verizon's update is U2CQI2. I've tried many variants to no avail. Att is generally slower with patches. This is a good sign though, that a patch should be in the works... If/when I find it, I'll post it.
We got to be hopefull. At&T has delayed September update for most phones.

"Official Aug security update" gives no indication that it's going to wipe your phone. I have had to stop using this phone immediately and I'm going to end up paying a hardware engineer to remove the internal memory in a soldering oven and build a USB adapter for it so that I can recover the data that this "security update" formatted over.
Don't call something an "update" if it's a factory reset. This is bananas.

S9 Not Updating (AT&T)

I've got an AT&T S9 and it's still got the February 1 security patch and says no updates are pending. AT&T's website indicates that the latest security patch they've released is July and that there was also a June update. https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tut...9?make=Samsung&model=SamsungG965U&gsi=uArWqmI
Is it possible the June update got pulled (and not removed from the AT&T website) and that for some reason the July update hasn't been released for my device yet? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I searched and couldn't find anything regarding this.
Thanks
Idk. I got an unlocked s9 on metro pcs. I didn't get an update since June patch. Used odin updated myself. Give it a try.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but I've got an update downloading now. Here's what I did...
Background and symptoms:
- I was what I believe was the original out of the box firmware (G960USQU1ARB7 - February 2018 security patch)
- When I would check for updates i would immediately get a message that no updates were available (like it wouldn't even check really)
- I tried doing a factory reset which didn't help
Resolution:
- Used FirmwareScience to find and download the next update (G960USQU1ARBI here is the direct link)
- Followed the instructions there to install the update (placed the update.zip file on SDCard, reboot to recovery, select update from zip)
- After the update, I went back into settings to see if the next update would download and it did...it's installing now.
Void Warranty

This is caused by the System Updater application being updated by the Google Play store. You need to look for this application in settings, and from the play store uninstall. This removes all the non-stock updates to this application.
After you've done this, Firmware Finder should work properly without any checksum errors etc.

In place OTA upgrade from Android 9 to Android 10 keeping Magisk root?

Maybe this was posted already, but my search skills seem to be failing me at the moment. :silly:
Is there a way to do an in place OTA update from pie to Android 10 Q keeping Magisk root?
Or do I have to do the old way and revert pie, take the OTA, then apply the patched boot.img?
Thanks for any help!
You could revert and take the update or revert and flash Q via fastboot. Either way you'll have to root again after.
Pixel 3 XL, Yep, Crashed It.....
..... Again.
What I usually do is grab the current months image (in this case november), move the boot.img to my device, patch it with Magisk, move it back to my computer. Grab the OTA for the current month, sideload via fastbootd, after successful reboot I just go back into fastboot and flash the patched_boot.img.
Sounds like a lot, but usually takes only a few minutes after the downloads are complete.
In case anyone was wondering, now that Magisk is updated to 20.1, I was able to do an in place OTA upgrade from Android 9 to Android 10 following the Magisk tutorial here: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tutorials.md
My laziness paid off and I only waited a couple of months!
