Allwinner A33 quad core 7inch tablet - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Howdy all!
I have a dirt cheap 7inch tablet
Model# QT-7
Processor: QuadCore A33
Android Version: 4.4.2
Firmware: v2.0
Kernel: 3.4.39 [email protected] #747
Build# A0720BS3_1024X600_4.4_20180608
I have developed an application for Range Masters of Archery Ranges which has been throughly tested and is working on all other devices I have tested it on but not this device.
The application requires no specific permissions.
Working on
Samsung galaxy s6, s7, s8, s9
Sony xperia z, Xperia z1
Asus a110 tablet
I feel that the issue may be with the android rom being incompatible.
When attempting to install the apk I get the good old "error parsing apk" notification.
All relevant dev options enabled and unknown sources is permitted.
No other devices I have are running amdroid 4.4.2 so this is why I've come to the conclusion that its the rom.
Any assistance here will be greatly appreciated and if it would be ideal to flas the rom how can i do that to this cheap chinese tablet.
Cant justify the expense of any decent device as this is going to be used for Archery with Scouts and will be outdoors ALOT
thanks all
Pat

Error parsing can mean a bad apk, an incompatible app or a damaged (removed) core components such as installer or depending on app it might require google play services which are corrupted or missing.
For me this happened with some apk files, but when I downloaded them again from anouther source, it worked fine and the other time when I purposely removed core components for an android destruction video.

Thanks for the reply!
Firstly, i dont think it has anything to do with the apk as it is tested and working on all the devices listed in the OP and im te sdting more as i can but havent had one fail (except this tablet)
The tablet is in factory formatted state and only has this app installed as an addition to standard rom specs.
Theres no other ssource for the apk,
I developed the app myself.....
Ive tried downloading from my google drive compared to bluetooth sharing from a working device, still nothing.....
Hopefully this additional info helps find a solution
Thanks for your comment

Umm did you try any other apps? if other apks work then this device is not compatible with your app or if it is supposed to be, then it has a problem with your particular apk for some other reason. If none of other apps of higher quality work then there is indeed something wrong with the rom, services that are responsible for installing apos are corrupt or missing

In any case check if the device manufacturer has a more modern version of the lagdroid available if they do then flash the rom, if they don't then there is nothing you can do except modify your app (if your app is the only one that doesn't work and you care enough to have it to work on cheapo tablets/phones with ancient lagdroid versions)

Has anyone installed PhoneLeash on I9000?

Hi - I am the dev for PhoneLeash ... and one of our I9000 users is getting the "your device is not compatible" error. PhoneLeash has gotten installed on most every device (including those SMS-but-no-telephony Galaxy Tabs, and even WiFi devices) so this is frustrating.
If any of you I9000 owners can please take a minute to try to install it, it'll be helpful to know if this is a device issue or app issue or market issue. Its a useful app too btw forwards SMS etc to email, you can reply, GPS location!
Thank you!
well it is possible for me...
Same here. I am able to use it on my Sgs I9000 rooted.
Thanks folks ... meanwhile the user who was having troubles got his issue resolved as well. I had sent him the APK for a previous PhoneLeash release (it just happened to be lying around in my Inbox), which installed fine, but now he was able to upgrade to the latest version directly from the Android Market! Huh! But whatever the reason, hope its another tool to conquer the "not compatible" problem.

Sorry to hear that ... if can spare a few mins to help me debug further, can you email me at support A T gearandroid DOT SEE OH EM I could try the same method (give you an APK to an earlier release and see if the market then lets you upgrade)?

[Q] Playstore on Chinese One V

Hi there, I’ve got the Chinese version of the One V and like most Chinese phones these days, Google account functionality has been removed.
I have rooted my phone and most of the Google apps that did not work before do work now (g-mail, Google maps ect.) Unfortunately the plays store is still inoperable. I can install now but it crashes shortly after launch. If anyone has experience with using playstore on a Chinese phone I would love to know what i need to be doing right.
Otherwise I am guessing I could use a rom from another region. my only worry is that it may not be compatible as there is some hardware variation, the Chinese version have an extra button on the front for quick access to weibo(Chinese twitter) I don’t know if that’s the only difference but it’s the only one I can see.
Any way if you have some advice on how I should proceed I would very much appreciate it.

what rom are you running in your phone?
I think he's running stock rom. But like he said the phone may have different hardware than our One V's
So we would need a list of the specs so we can compare them to ours if the hardware is the same u can just use our roms, but if it isn't than our roms will brick your phone.

Yes, it is the stock rom. I do beleve the specs on the phone are the same, i recall checking it out before i ordered it from Amazon, but i will dubble check to be sure.
Thanks
It’s a bit tough to find the information but as far as i can tell the hardware is the same. There doesn’t really seem to be a distention model number wise and the only way i can tell witch version a given site is talking about is based on the picture where i can see the extra button. So assuming the hardware is the same in all other respects does it matter which rom I install?
In that case it shouldn't. The extra button wont work than but apart from that it should work.

Any way to quickly change DPI

I recently discovered that I can get a full google drive experience in Chrome just by setting request desktop site, don't know why I hadn't tried before today. This works phenomenally on my tablet, but extended sessions on it are murder on my neck and back so I wanted to use my s3 with my monitor and bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The ideal situation for me would be a way to get Chrome OS when connected to hdmi, but I'll settle for the use of an nfc card that would automatically change the dpi to make sense on the bigger screen and maybe change the default launcher to one that is set up for "desktop mode" with appropriate icons and such. Does anyone know of an application combination that would allow me to do this quickly and efficiently and preferably girlfriend proof as I'm sure she'd want to be able to do the same thing. Thank you in advance.

There are numerous DPI changers on the GoogleMarket .
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:28 PM ----------
Used this one many times across many ROMs.
Never had any issues. I've also never gone below 220. 220 provides more than enough screen space on Landscape .

Can someone suggest a value to use with an external monitor that wont brick my phone?
You had a 'soft brick' from changing your DPI ?
No but i've heard of people stuck in boot loops when entering values their phone doesn't support, just trying to avoid that if someone here has done this already and can save me the headache.

Well if the App I posted doesn't suit your fancy, there's always Xposed. Download the Installer . and App Settings Module. 2 files. Install the framework via the installer and reboot. Then install App Settings module and you can tinker with the DPI for individual apps(chrome). 220 is a safe value.
Thank you sir. I used xposed and seems to exactly what Im looking for. just downloaded chrome beta so i no have 2 instances of the app one for regular phone use and the other for the monitor. This combined with NFC to open the app and connect the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard appears to be what I am looking for. Thanks again

You're quite welcome. Glad I could help.
It may work but I think it's a cheap workaround
Actually if someone ask how to change dpi and someone in a development forum refers to an app I laugh out loud. This is not the way. The guy who wrote the app knew it. I started with android 4 and information is already fragmented into oblivion.
I think your current workaround doesn't require you to reboot the device so it may suit your needs just right

[Q] Ubuntu on Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

Hello, I wonder if any developer has a project on ubuntu for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 3 (SM-T210), I'd love to try the ubuntu on my tablet, some developer? (Bad english = I'm Brazilian)

I am just throwing this out here because I'm not sure if its what you want exactly, but it may help.
The webpage is whiteboard.ping.se/Android/Debian
Check it out, hope it helps. It may give some ideas if nothing else, and if it doesn't help, sorry in advance.

Lol, everyone learns things there own way. you would be surprised at the amount of work involved to get a fully functional NATIVE port going. my first took me almost a year on Allwinner Hardware, second 2 went pretty smooth and still took 6 months. the biggest issue you have with a device like a Galaxy is drivers, and UART access to catch were your kernels are crashing (and trust me they will) but you can kinda work around that by having your init scripts dump the log to SD(assuming it is working).
As for drivers? Wifi is fairly simple to get going, its usually just configuration changes. Touchpanel drivers need to be heavily modified to remove muli-touch(not completely..read on) as Xorg and linux in general does not play nice with multi-touch. you CAN use multi-touch to emulate scrolling (ex:2 fingers enables scrolling) and right click events, really it is completely possible to use the full chips capabilities you just need to code the events properly in the source. bluetooth I have not bothered to use but I see no issue with it. GPU!!!!! god I hate the GPU mess. that is the biggest hurdle. I got lucky on my tablets as I was able to port X11 Mali drivers from rockchip over to Allwinner and AMlogic. I use my first Allwinner Tablet daily paired with a cheap mini-keyboard,touchpanel from DX.com. Its not easy, by any means but its a challenge(for me an addiction) and once you get it running on the NAND and power up watching your system log on the LCD...it just gives you that feeling of satisfaction. I am currently in the preliminary stages right now for the Tab 7 working around the OTG issues but there is hope! yes the PMIC chosen by samsung sucks and is partly responsible for our OTG problems( the powering portion anyway since it can only output enough to run low amp devices until I can find the LDO registers for the Boost regulator) but I will not stop until I get it done. KNOX is a major issue at this time as usual but won't be in the long run. It is tough probing the devices registers using i2c-tools so I bailed on that one and ported a tool I used for another platform which Is working out nicely to get valuable data from the chips via a kernel module/userland combo.
I try to keep everyone updated but when there is nothing substantial to report you will hear from me when their is. Ubuntu will run one way or another.

Google camera port?

Just wondering if this has been done or not. My gf would love the same camera as I have on my nexus 5.
Thanks.

It's available for 4.4.2 but when one tries to download from playstore on our note II it doesn't show up,in the desktop play store it says incompatible so many of us grabbed the apk and it installs fine. Now where the problem begins is not all users are lucky depending on which 4.4.2 ROM or to be honest not really sure why get FC,but the most common reported problem is the wrench icon for settings when clicked it gives FC (not for me) ,and some of us tried various techniques to get it work i uploaded my /data/data/com.androidGoogleCamera folder on this Thread ,but didn't really help anyone when they copied pasted mine on theirs,so to sum it up i played around with google camera but at least for now it doesn't offer anything more than what our stock samsung camera app offers ,i use stock samsung and lenovo camera the most.
