Hi there. Would any of you 'One' owners be gracious enough to get a system dump for devs to take a look at?
Instructions to do so are here:
https://www.mylgphones.com/how-to-g...tiions-from-lg-android-phones-with-lg-up.html
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd like to do this but I want to make sure my personal data is not part of this. Would I have to wipe my phone first?I don't own a laptop but have access to one. I'll try to get this done in the next couple weeks
This would be greatly appreciated.
To answer your question, as long as you don't dump the 'data' partition, no personal data will be copied.
/system
/vendor
and maybe /boot
are ones that would be worth exploring.
Don't be scared about this process. It's simpler than you think. If you have ANY questions about the process, PM me.
Thank you for considering,

Ok. Thanks for your continued efforts on this. If you are willing, there another way to get a dump using a bootable USB stick running Linux. It's a tool called FWUL. You download a zip file. Use a program to write it to a USB stick (in windows) (preferably 16gb) and it boots your PC to a custom tailored Linux environment with a bunch of handy Android tools including a program called SALT which is designed for use with LG phones. All of this happens from the USB stick and won't impact the laptop in any other way. The beauty of it is that it won't require drivers like windows does. Part of the reason the dev designed the tool.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../live-iso-adb-fastboot-driver-issues-t3526755
Check that out and let me know your thoughts.
Edit. This SALT tool actually won't allow you to dump specific partitions, yet. That feature is presently being worked on now. I'll post back here when its available.

Tried this already, thanks though. When you use the tool a list of LG devices shows up but not this one. LG twitter has been responding to my DMs and they're going to reach out to their support team and get back to me. My fear is LG will point me to Google but we'll see. Will update once LG responds

Does LG Bridge work? Like the tool that offers to "repair" the phone. It's downloads the kdz to do that.
If this is doable. Then you won't have any personal info revealed. Because it would be a kdz.
Other option is to see if this site works. https://lg-firmware-rom.com/
It's basically a web version of LG Bridge to download the kdz

There exist no kdzs of the G7 One (or Q9 One).... sadly. Thats why we need a partition dump.
It could also very well be that you need LG UP 1.15 (which is currently in the works) to function properly.... :/

Ah pooo! This is so lame
i'll give FWUL by the fabulous @steadfasterX a try tonight and see if this is doable, i have a funny feeling it's not going to. (and i thought my G4 was frustrating...)
in regular ubuntu, lsusb shows: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1004:631c LG Electronics, Inc. G2/Optimus Android Phone [MTP mode] - i'll see if anything shakes down in FWUL and reply back either way, cheers!
Any luck with the system and vendor partitions dump?
I installed several drivers, but could not get a new COM port to show up in Device Manager.
Does anyone have a working driver for LGUP?
I was prepared to test out uppercut.exe with LGUP, but getting hung up on prerequisite 4 as indicated: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/uppercut-lgup-loader-g5-variants-t3511295
Following the instructions to install LGUP here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76995781&postcount=26
I was able to detect the phone and attempt to perform a dump, however I can't get past "Error: 0x2000 skip write protected lun"
From my limited understanding, I believe we require an engineering version of laf.bin for Snapdragon 835 (MSM8998), and of course a way to flash or temporarily boot it.
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=951883&st=160#entry85370250
I couldn't figure out how to get this phone into Fastboot. Does anyone know the trick, or if it's even possible on this model?
We might need some help from @runningnak3d in here.
@skyblaster Versions of LAF shipping with Pie or later now require an RSA key to read anything other than the GPT (no version of LG UP with that key has leaked yet). You are correct that the engineering LAF is unlocked, but flashing it still requires the RSA signed SHA256 hash of the partition, and that doesn't exist for any of the engineering LAF partitions that are out there. LAF is a dead end for rooting LG phones. They can still be rooted with a firehose and the engineering abl (one exists for the V35 and G7 -- and the G7 eng. abl will work on the V40) -- all models except the TMO versions of the G7 and V40.
There is another use after free kernel exploit out there that will work on any kernel version up to the one shipping with 10, but I have not had much time (or luck yet) actually exploiting it. If (when) it can be done, then the root procedure would be almost identical to the DIrtySanta root for the V20: Get temp root, flash eng. abl, root....

Can someone share the stock camera APK? I need it please
Hi everyone,
I tried to backup the system, vendor and boot partitions with the SALT tool by @steadfasterX on xubuntu but only ended up with empty files titled system_a.img vendor_a.img and boot_a.img . Not sure if there are any other options left to try but I am looking for things to do right now with the whole pandemic going on so if there are any other ideas out there, I have lots of time to try them right now.
There is a fella who shared on telegram that they got a G7 one dump after getting root access. Did anyone get any of the partition dumps they needed yet?

I’m writing this because I had to go to so many different threads to finally get what I needed to get this phone running LineageOS. Credit to all who posted those guides & tools, this is just a cheat sheet for those having difficulties if you are running 30e firmware or above.
I’ve hosted all the links on my own server for convenience.
1) Download LG Flash Tool
2) Download D85130d_00_0404.kdz
3) Enable USB Debugging & Power down your phone
4) Hold Volume Up while plugging in your USB cable (you should now be in download mode)
5) Open LG Flash Tool & choose the following: (Using D85130d_00_0404.kdz)

6) After the phone reboots, re-enable unknown sources
7) Install KingRoot (I like to Disable & Force Stop the Lookout App. before doing this step).
8) Install TWRP Manager & BusyBox (from play store) – Note – I had to use BusyBox Pro & Smart install, as the free version kept crashing, your luck might differ.
9) Install TWRP from the TWRP Manager...
All Done, from TWRP, always make a backup first thing, wipe and your good to go.
(On the d851, to boot into TWRP from a powered off phone, you hold volume down + power until the LG logo appears, then release the buttons and re-press both of them down until TWRP loads up)
One thing you should always do on the Stock ROM, before installing a Custom ROM, is turn on "Device Only" GPS and get a fix in Google Maps (as sometimes it won't ever work until you do this in Stock).
If you are installing Lineage, here are some additional Links:
LineageOS (d851)

OpenGapps (ARM, 7.1, Nano)
** If for some reason any of the links are broken above, all of the files are on my ownCloud here:

I am also finding this Solution.
What Android version 4.4 or 5.0 or 6.0 is the Kd file that flash with LG flash tool?
Is the Kdz file size correct 3.4Mb only? thank you for the guide.
I bought two of the G3 D851 one come with Kitkat 4.4.2 (I got updated to 5.0) and other one come with Marshallow 6.0 rom. I haven't root or anything except got the official update on the one that come with Kitkat 4.4.2 so i updated it.
Is there a good stock rom for this device? anyone have any suggestion which rom we can flash?
I found LG Flash Tool 2014 is not working any more for flash KDZ file go back to stock or downgrade/upgrade. LGUP is working better for go back to stock flash KDZ file. I bought G3 it came with Marshallow I looked everywhere but did not find any method working except use LGUP tool to downgrade or upgrade:
Download from this Vietnamese tread, it's working I flashed KDZ to downgraded from MM to Kitkat (D85010C firmware). It should work with other firmware LP 5.0 or MM 6.0.
http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/tut-nang-cap-ha-cap-rom-stock-bang-lgup.52437/
For install the tool you just need to run the two Msi files, comport should be under port 41 under device manager I think. LG Mobile driver (LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0_001.exe ) should also install before LGUP tool.
Simple instruction include in readme text file with the LGUP zip file. For KDZ fine when first open LGUP you might not able to browse for it, close LGUP and copy/move KDZ file you want to flash to the same directory as LGUP tool (C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8974). Open LGUP again it should show KDZ file, for downgrade just choose refurbish it should work it take 2-3 minutes to flash it. Once the phone reset and start setup you can unplug the phone from the computer.
D85130g
Can somebody confirm this works coming from the latest D85130g firmware?
G3 Downgrade Information
Is the following statement True or False:
Because I am currently running LG G3 software version D85130g, I cannot flash my phone with a custom ROM from the likes of LineageOS, Resurrection, Liquid or XenonHD without downgrading first?
30G can be downgraded using this guide

You can uncrypt your phone but if you.flash a stock rom, the kernel at first boot will automatically encrypt your memory again. There are 2 different encryption, one by code and one with standard image key. At this moment the twrp will automatically uncrypt the system key but you need to manually write the code (if is setted). The tool will uncrypt both method, the flash of stock rom will re-uncrypt with system key but not with code key

Just got my Pixel 2XL the other day and am excited to root and start modding. I have been monitoring this thread just to see what issues people are running into but it looks like not many people are even doing this surprisingly. I mean that's why I bought this Google phone, so I don't have to deal with locked bootloaders that these carriers put in them to discourage rooting. I know this phone is also locked but it's not for the purpose of keeping people from rooting them. I just think that it's so odd that this thread has very little activity.

The device is very expensive, has dual partitions, has gotten a lot of bad press, and not near as Dev friendly as some others. Having said that, there are about 5 custom roms, root, exposed, substratum, and various launcher and active edge mods. So it's not like we're hurting too bad ??

Install LG Drivers.

I was going to ask the following:
As we await bootloader unlock from LG, will this version of Oreo for the v30/+ be rootable like the Google Pixel 2 XL version or in your opinion, should we wait?
Then, I realized this is the 1 December 2017 update which just proves you should not read after deplaning until you have had coffee lol.
Thanks for the share, ChazzMatt as it nice to have the full of file (I did the OTA from 10b to 10c already).
Do you (or anyone else notice any difference)?
Thanks chazz! Is the main reason for this file just in case you somehow brick your phone?
I just did the ota update and wonder if there is a change log anywhere?

The T-Mobile guys wanted a verified full copy of US998 for their H932 experiments with patched LGUP file.
It's always good to have full version of the firmware you are on, in case you ever need to re-flash. An OTA update is just a partial version of firmware.
I used LG Bridge to update my spare V30 from "b" to "c" -- snagged that download link from the log and downloaded the full KDZ separately, which I then uploaded to mirror.
That's the only change log I saw. Maybe there's a more detailed one somewhere on LG website.
Sent from my official carrier unlocked LG V30+ US998
im still too scared update it. what if it ends up like the h930 where they have to fall back to root properly. anyone with the update notice any of the changes? any change in battery life?
I don't notice anything...
As far as changes, they seem to be similar to what was posted here:

Thanks for the post Chazz!
Thank you ChazzMatt.
I donno you remember, but I am stuck with "your phone is not registered yet" on OTA.
I will update with this file.
edit:
This works on my US Cellular US998!
I used uppercut 1.0 with LGUP 1.14, upgrade selection.
Now I am on 10c now.
I updated the op to reflect that we know this firmware also works on U.S. Cellular US998, besides "open market" official carrier unlocked US998.
@rhplusa10 below was one of the people to buy an LG "contest prize" U.S. Cellular US998, many of which were re-sold online by the winners. Because these U.S. Cellular US998 phones were never actually "registered" in the U.S. Cellular inventory system somehow they cannot receive updates. They fall into some kind of gray area. (Read that thread if you want to know more, that's not what's really being discussed here.)
The point is, he and others with those wonky US998 phones (or even regular US. Cellular US998 phones) can use this "open market" US998 firmware and future firmware posts to keep their phones updated.

If factory reset doesn't work, then flashing this probably won't. I don't know for sure. However, in that same hidden menu mode, I saw network reset choices. Not in the LTE bands section, but a neighboring section.

I would like to install a linaege or other ROM, but which one should I use?
Can you help me?
Basic knowledge for installing and testing is available...
In the appendix you can find some pictures for evaluation.

adb devices -l gives this:
Code:
device usb:1-2 product:P40 Pro+ model:U2 device:Smartphone transport_id:1
Code:
[ro.board.platform]: [mt6580]
[ro.mediatek.platform]: [MT6580]
complete getprop:

So, MT6580 and probably a Lollipop. Could be worse.
There is some jlinksz (maker of these) threads here.
Also at 4pda, where there is more info and stuff.
Jlinksz K960 - Обсуждение - 4PDA
Jlinksz K960 - Обсуждение, Планшет, 9.6"

I would not do much to it if it works well enough as it is. But if you do take a backup first as finding correct one later can be really really hard...

This is not an option. Its so creepy and full of preinstalled apps i can´t trust, u know?
So can i build a custom rom by extract the drivers and AOSP? Is this possible with beginner skills on coding?

So i tried to get root by some tools, from this site here:
How to root your Android smartphone: Google, OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, and more
Rooting your phone is still possible — and fun — these days. Here's how to do it on your Android device.
www.xda-developers.com
But nothing works! by adb sideload or apk-install...
Some advice?
I have the exact same phone, same issues as Ronny has. Have made a backup image of the phone but it's quite large in size ( over 5gb broken into 3 files). Would this be of use in in figuring out how to Root the phone?

Would like to hear how you done this!
And my offer to host your files for downloading on my nextcloud instance.
Could give you an uploadlink (password save) and publish the link here...

Hi Seppppx, I have this phone with Android 5.1 on it. I use Linux so I am assuming I can set the phone up and do the dd's via an adb command?
Any guidance you can give on the correct way to do this would be good and I can try and get the files available for you .

Hi Ronny, you can backup the files on the phone by entering Recovery mode. Switch off the phone. Then, at the same time, hold down the power and volume up buttons down until a small menu appears in the middle of the screen. Choose the recovery option, volume up scrolls through the list, volume down selects which option you want from recovery, fastboot or normal. You'll have a android image pop up, maybe with the message "no command " , just wait or press the same button combination again and the recovery menu should appear . In the list will be the system or user files backup. I see from your images though that you have already figured most of the out.
That only gives us no. 3 of the files that Seppppx needs so I have asked him how to get the bootloader dump.

At first: You need to be root do dd boot and systemimages. After you got it you get try this:
[Guide] Dumping boot.img & recovery.img using dd (for complicated partitions)
Hi there! i am new to forums as well as in developing. i have recently taken interest in making cyanogenmod for my device. So, i have been searching web for hours to dump boot.img and recovery.img for my device. As my device is a mediatek device...
forum.xda-developers.com
But i tried this and i failed because a doesn´t have su (root). So i tried to use adb push but even then i cant access the Boot/system-image folders (cause no root). See my previous posts for...

Sorry Bruizer, but this option gives us only a dump of the userdata. this will doesn´t help Seppppx.
Any update on this? I have received a phone to use as back up until I get my own and it's the same type of deal as far as chinese phone goes.
Also, I forgot to mention that I was looking through the adb pull screen shot and even though I do not currently have root I can still cd to /dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.0/ without viewing contents but when i try to cd by-name there is no directory by that name.... I want to be able to achieve root and also possibly make a custom rom for this device and I'm willing to follow any suggestions anybody has. Clearly the boot.img and such are in a different directory but I'm going to have to do more digging.

I'm trying to find some time to do some digging about finding the boot partition because as I stated in my last post the by-name dir doesn't exist but obviously we are unable to find out which dirs do exist without root... If I come up with something I will be sure to let you know.
No matter how you are experienced or skilled in flashing ROM's, the things sometimes just happens. And you are here now...
Even I was aware which DDR model was my device, yes.. I did it - flashed by mistake DDR4 xbl.img to my DDR5 noodlep.
Of'coz, I wasn't that happy when I achieved it. Many googling, many searches - nothing. The only option was to return to OnePlus for repair.
But; there is a way. The idea came from Tom Marshall ( @tdm ) - he said that I can try to force "deep flash method" using EDL CABLE.
How to recover ? It's really simple.
Pre-requisites:
1. Windows 7 - 10 based PC (for msmtool) with properly installed 9008 COM port drivers.
Follow this guide to set and prepare: [OP8PRO][OOS 11AA/BA/DA] Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS
2. Buy EDL cable. it looks like that:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now to revive your toy !
1. Start msmtool, click others (as it's recommended for msmtool), choose region of your device. Get ready to start flashing.
You'll see that the line with COM port says it's not connected (yet)
2. Connect the cable to your device - but not to PC yet.
3. Press the button on the cable - It's called "deep flash" button...
4. While you are still pressing the button, connect the other side of the cable to your PC (where msmtool is opened and ready to go).
5. Release the button and you'll hear that your device is connected. Check the line with COM port and you'll see it's connected.
EDL port will be opened for about 10 seconds. so you must be ready to start the installation.
6. Start the msmtool and wait till the finish.
7. The rest is well known msmtool flashing way.
Enjoy !!!

Hi everyone, I might need some help here...I have a OnePlus 8T EU model and I too have flashed the wrong xbl.img (DDR5 instead of DDR4X in my case). Reading this post gave me some hope and I bought an EDL cable, looking just as the one in the picture OP posted.
My phone has never been in EDL mode before, therefore it is not showing up at all in device manager, no QHUSB_BULK, no anything. It is therefore impossibile for me to try and install the drivers by updating the device entry there, as specified in the guide.
I tried to install the drivers in several other ways, using an installer executable or manually installing the .inf files, but the outcome is always the same: after following all the steps given, MSM, as well as Device manager, do not read my device.
What can I possibly try differently here?

İssues are with your Windows and quallcom drivers probably... I remember I had to switch to safemod in order to installl quallcom drivers.
I'm facing the same issue. Flashed ddr5 firmware instead of ddr4. The phone is completely hard bricked and is not showing on device manager as well.
Will the edl cable enable the connectivity so that i can do MSM?
Ordered youkiloon hydra v2 edl cable and planning to test tomorrow.
