Is there a way to disable Pixel Ambient Service , the song recognition thing, while connected to my car? Because it is loading the song history with all my songs that I listen in the car. I've tried with tasker but no luck.
Any ideas?

And where is the problem? Your music choose must be secret?
Well, lets put it this way. From Monday to Friday I listen in my car for about at least 40 minutes, that is like 13-14 songs, multiply that with 5 days and I get like 70 songs, that I own and know, If I go somewhere where my Pixel tracks the songs and I want to go to history to search for it, I have to look in the 70 songs (tracked in 5 days) that I already know. Since I got the pixel , I went to some places and find some great songs, but it is hard to find them in my already own collection. It will be nice to automatically disable this feature when connected to my car's stereo.
Are you playing music from your car stereo and not your phone to your stereo? I play music to my car through my Pixel and it typically doesn't find the songs it's playing on Now Playing because it knows its playing it.

Yes, not from my phone.

I use a portable BT speaker at work, and Now Playing always lists the songs I'm playing. Maybe because I'm using Spotify and not playing music I have installed myself onto my phone? I don't know....

I think maybe Pandora as well, but I'm not sure. I'l check tomorrow. I'll also check with personally installed music.
What about Google Play Music? I'll try that too.
I just thought it showed for everything because I mainly use Spotify, but your post about it not showing has me intrigued now.
I have several music apps. I'll probably try with them all.
Lol i have super Mario ringtone and sometime it recognize that as well ??

I'll have to test it out to be sure. Sometimes I notice it and sometimes I don't.

Hi,
First things first. I'm running JB touchwiz and rooted.
here's my system info if you need it. http://imgur.com/YQ2rILN.png
So, here's my problem. I am using two different players (technically 3 if you count pandora which I don't use very much) - PowerAmp (paid) and Google Play Music. The reason I have 2 players is because I have way more music than I can store on my phone which is where google play is nice, but I also like listening to FLAC files -google play only plays up to 320 - I also like having music on the device in case I lose 4g signal, and I like poweramp's interface much better. Because I'm using two players, they often compete for which one plays. I use my phone to stream music to my car stereo and alarm clock via bluetooth, and when I connect it to either device OR to my headphones via wired connection, poweramp overrides google play and starts playing whatever I listened to last, even if I killed the program previously or was listening to google music last. Basically, when I connect anything, it defaults to poweramp and not Google play regardless of which I was listening to. I want this the other way around, since I use google play much more often since I have so much more music on it. It's endlessly frustrating.
Now for the question - Is there a way to reverse this, so that when I connect my headphones or stereo it will default to playing from google music and not poweramp? Or, even better, is there a way to integrate google music's streaming ability in to poweramp somehow?
Oh, one last thing. I am wondering if there is a way to make PowerAmp and Google Music show on the touchwiz lock screen, with controls? Currently neither do, even though I have the option enabled in PowerAmp.
Thanks!
I haven't used TouchWiz in a long time, but I know with AOSP, there is an option regarding what the phone does when a headset is connected. It's at System settings > Sound > Launch music app for AOSP users.
Seems like you could fix it there. Before this option became available, I was using Tasker to accomplish the same thing.

There doesn't seem to be any such option in that area. I did just think of something, Is there a way to replace the lock screen that doesn't suck? i like stock aosp lock screen better than touchwiz, I just like touchwiz for the guestures and shortcuts and such.
Use tasker
In power amp there is a setting to turn off the auto play when connected.

I can't help with your priority question, but I can tell you that with TW, you lose lockscreen music control ability. I know it's dumb, but it is what it is.

Hey that sounds like a very good idea. I just need to learn to use Tasker. Please feel free to elaborate.
I'm having this same problem. I have a Verizon S3, and have a tasker profile set up so that when I connect my phone to a power source it will automatically turn on bluetooth, connect to my car, launch google play, and start playing the last played song.
The problem is it launches Play Music, but starts playing Poweramp. Play music is what's on my screen, but when I swipe the notifications down PowerAmp is playing the music. I've checked everything and it should be set up correctly, but this still happens.
Any Ideas?

Have you checked the headset settings in poweramp to make sure no auto resumes are selected?

Yeah, Checked and removed the selections for that. And nothing in the Tasker profile is connected to Poweramp, yet it continually plays music from it...

What about respond to headset controls? Poweramp resumes playing on my car when I connect it to Bluetooth if I have that option enabled too

As the title States... Any time I turn Bluetooth on... Google play music starts playing automatically.... Anyone know how to prevent this?
I hit pause/stop and try to start another Bluetooth app (such as watch ESPN) and music starts playing again.
Never figured out how. It's happened on all my past phones. GS7, 6P, iPhone 5S

Please explain for those of use not familiar with it please. Thanks.
I think many Bluetooth devices (especially cars) automatically send the play/pause command after pairing. Unfortunately, not much you can do other than setup a tasker task to play/pause after pairing to the devices you are having trouble with.

You will have to buy Tasker and then go to this website...http://androidforums.com/threads/ho...ally-playing-google-music-every-time.867286/. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the forum, there is a guy who explains exactly what to do. Its working for me so far.
Edit...Tasker is not working. I don't know what to do now
Same here. I had disabled Play music for now.
Sooo, another problem. When I'm in my SUV streaming music to its stereo from my phone, it doesn't show any information about what's playing. No artist, song name, nothing. Sometimes it'll show how long the song has been playing, but, that's it. I've disconnected/forgot on both ends, reconnected, same. My pixel 2 xl did not have this problem. Funny thing is, when I start a song, it pops up on my smartwatch (wear OS) with all the info like it should, it seems like just my ride... I'm not sure what's going on here. Anyone else experiencing this? I drive a 2018 Pathfinder.
Same issue here! I use Apple Music and it does not show any info at all. But when I used Google Music it shows just fine... I am assuming it's Apple Music itself...
No issue here so far, actually the Bluetooth is better for me then the 2XL was, I am using Spotify only though, not sure if that matters. I have a VW GTI. I know that some cars just have issues with some phones, let's hope that some of the software updates will fix it for you.

Yeah, my Bluetooth doesn't cutout like my 2 xl did. The connection is much better. I have t tried anything but YouTube music, so, I guess I'll check something else.
Mine Bluetooth information works intermittently. Bluetooth PLAYING hasn't been a problem, but the information isn't always displayed. I use both GPM and Pandora. Restarting the phone has forced it to work. Toggling Bluetooth worked for a little bit, but after a few sings the problem came back.
The Bluetooth cutting out was the worst thing about my 2 XL, I always hoped that every update would fix it but it never did, I loved everything else about the phone.

No info showing on my Lexus RX350 with Spotify =\
So, Spotify shows, but still no YouTube music... And now my phone won't sync right with my wear os watch... WTF??? Sooo, this phone has both WiFi AND Bluetooth issues.. Great. I really hope it's software related.
All of you having problems, please, submit feedback to Google. You can do it right from your phone in Bluetooth settings. If enough of us do, maybe Google will actually do something about it, and soon. Our first update will likely be in 2 weeks. I'd love for this to get fixed in that update.
This is the first Google phone since my Nexus 6 that has worked consistently with my car for meta data. For me, its an amazing improvement.

Well, I use Apple Music and I had such a hard time getting this to work since day one. Google Music is working fine so I thought to play a little with the BT settings in the developer's options and finally got it to work...
So I got a new Pixel 3 XL and I'm running into this problem. Hooked up the USB and when I try to listen to Google play Music I can't hear anything, the same thing with YouTube. No problem with Bluetooth only Android Auto.

The only compelling reason I have these days for rooting my phone is viper. But with all these betas and all the hassle that it involves, I'm always looking for an equalizer app that works without root.
Recently I found equalizer pie. This app works pretty well on pie, but also on q beta 6. Not even remotely close to viper, but does work in a pinch. The only catch is that it works with audio apps that start an audio session. I use four music apps. Two of them, Google play music and Spotify, work very well. The other two, Pandora and TuneIn radio, do not.
Anyways, I just wanted to share my finding. Here is the link to the app, which I have no association with.

I hope someone else finds it useful.
Cheers.
Hi
Everytime I change song to next/previous or skip to different place in song, there is short "clip" or delay, when app eq is off, there isn't something like that and switching song is smooth. Are to having the same issue?

Which app? For me it only works on Spotify and Google Play Music.
When I start Spotify, sometimes I can hear a hiss before the first song plays, but I do not hear it on subsequent songs.
I rarely use Google play music any more, so, I haven't check that one.
Sorry, with Spotify.
So you got the same..
