Hi Frineds,
Sorry for my poor English.. I have a very strange problem after updating new firmaware on my Arc. When i flash new firmaware, my phone doesn't connect to network. I get an error that "sim card preventing to connect with network". I have tried everything but always get this error with new firmaware. Therefore i am still on .145. I have unlocked bootloader, so i use FlashTool. I have tried Global Generic & Nordic versions of new firmaware.
Am i the only one having this problem? Can someone think of any possible reason for that? Any idea?
+1 I am Spanish and I have a Vodafone mobile
Does anyone know any possible reason? Any suggestion, please?
I updated my bro's Arc with FlashTool & he has not any problem with network.. I used my sim card in his Arc & it worked like a charm. What's wrong with my Arc?

Are you preserving your data on flashing? If so that might be the reason.

No, data wiped But Thanks Harfot you tried to help me out
I was also having trouble with flashing as follows,
After flashing (not wiping user data) generic 4.0.A.2.368 followed by DooMKernel v02 the hole lot was working - not very well but working. Problem was I was not able to install neither BusyBox nor APP2SD.
This was followed by 2 more tries flashing but it never worked but I was shure it could work.
So I flashed the original 3.0.A.2.181, used GingerBreak to root and installed BusyBox. It worked.
Then I again flashed generic 4.0.A.2.368 followed by actual DooMKernel. It worked and BusyBox was still working. Then I installed APP2SD and on reboot that part worked also. At last I restored my user apps with Titanium and the were all moved to the new ext3 partion on the SD card.
Later I have flashed the latest two DooMKernels without any problems.
It might be worth for you to try reflashing.
Reflashing the firmware should solve your problem.
Thanks Harfot & Xtacy! i have actually reflashed my phone multiple times.
1) First Global Generic with FlashTool..
2) Tried Again Global Generic with Flashtool (Without Sim Card in Mobile)
3) Tried WotanServer & flashed Nordic version..
4) Re-locked bootloader & flashed again Global Generic
5) Flashed Nordic Telia version
6) Re-locked bootloader again & changed customization number to Telia Sweden & flashed through SEUS
7) Falshed UK Generic
And result is the same: No network connection
Do you have the possibility to try with another SIM card?
I relocked bootloader today & flashed phone through SEUS first. When i started phone, i got network connection but after just 5 minutes disconnected again & nothing helped. I repaired phone with PC Companion but result is the same..
When i say network connection, i mean GSM Connection.. I can't get GSM connection & therefore can't call someone or send sms..
@Harfot: First i used my SIM in my bro's Arc which is on newest firmaware, I got GSM connection on his Arc with my Sim card.. (Nothing wrong with my sim?)
Then i used his sim card (it was from another operator) in my flashed Arc (on .368) & didn't get any problem, got GSM connection :-/ Now i am confused. My sim card & my phone don't like each other or what?

Well, now I am puzzled too.
Try cleaning contacts in phone and suface of sim (no liquid). Try pressing sim card firmly when booting phone.
The solution for me was to change the SIM
@Harfot: Thanks, I'll try again tonight & will follow your suggestion
@neoduende: Thanks, I have actually ordered my service provider to send a new sim card
Hello everybody,
I have a carrier unlocked Xperia Arc. I had flashed .58 firmware, which I had rooted with Zegrush method (bootloader is locked). It was working fine for a few days, then suddenly the 3G stopped working. I am still getting the EDGE (2G) data transfer.
Since my SIM when inserted into my friends Samsung i9003 was giving a good 3G connection and also my friends SIM when inserted into my Xperia Arc was unable to connect through 3G, I thought that the fault was in my Xperia Arc only.
I have
1) Checked APN settings, they are fine. Downloaded and installed them again to be doubly sure.
2) Did a soft reset
3) Did a hard reset
4) Used repair through PC companion
5) flashed .62 firmware with accompanying baseband
6) flashed .42 firmware with accompanying baseband
7) checked network mode. Its WCDMA(preferred)/GSM. On switching to WCDMA, the 3G connection works for a few minutes and then the whole connection drops.
8) I read in some discussion boards that a similar problem arises if the SIM card lock is used but I am not using it.
Is it a hardware defect? Should I unlock the bootloader and flash one of the custom ROMS?
Any other suggestions?
Please help.
Thanking in advance.
call your network provider and say your problem, if they cant solve your problem or says everything is ok then contact sony ericsson repair center.
Just wondering how this happened cos it never came up before when I used flashtool.

Really don't know exactly what it does, but generally you don't include this file when you bundle a rom with flashtool, so no harm.

how do i unlock it? That's the whole point of me posting about this.
After i unlock my bootloader, i face this issue. but flashing finished successfully. Sometime it may be a DRM key related item.
Dont flash that file. its simlock data and if you flash it on a phone with different imei then you will kill the phone without any way other than sony service center to fix it.
Don't worry about that, i always get that warning and there was no problem.

I've read this 'simlock.ta' thread with some interest because I have a similar issue myself.. Might you have any suggestions?
In short, my Xperia (Ray) refuses to read my SIM card. In fact, it doesn't even ask me for my PIN number, it just boots as normal but I have no connection to any network. I've tried using the SIM card in another phone and it works fine, therefore the problem is with the phone itself.
I'd recently had my phone network & bootloader unlocked by wotanserver using the test point method - because of this I thought the DRM keys would be fine (e.g. TrackId & Timescape still worked). However, when I was updating from GB .42 to .62 OTA (to flash a GB ROM) my phone bricked! So, I ended up using s1tool to restore the locked bootloader. Then I used flashtool to flash a stock ICS ftf file. It seemed to work (the phone rebooted) but it was then I noticed that the SIM card wasn't being recognised. Also, in the Flashtool log I noticed that a blue line was there saying 'this file is ignored simlock.ta'.
Hard resets & updating with Sony Update Service isn't working and I'm really confused at this stage.
Is my phone screwed for good?
Same Problem with Xperia J

Did you find a solution for your problem?
In reality, I have the same problem with an xperia j (ST26i) , with some differences:
Initial Problem:
- The mobile belongs to my cousin, she updated it with the sony update center to the latest version (JB 4.1.2) and there: problem with the wifi when the sim.
- I got the mobile, and downgrade to the 4.0.4 version, I've tried 4 different versions:
-> ST26i_11.0.A.3.18_Global
-> ST26i_11.0.A.7.5_CE
-> ST26i_11.0.A.3.28_WE
-> St26i_4.0.4_11.0.A.3.28_CE3
I had always the problem with the wifi when the sim plugged.
Finally I've tried also the UNOFFICIAL CM 10, with no success
- I found a solution with the apk wifix manager witch worked with the 28 WE version of the firmware.
But I've continued to search an other solution, and I've remarked that when I flash the rom I always get the Warn: "This file is ignored : simlock.ta "
After some research I get an advice by a member of XDA to rename the file as "preset.ta", AND THERE, it works no warning ... BUT the sim is blocked (not locked) and I have always the message (invalid card).
I've tried to reflash the firmware many times, to relock the bootloader (with appropriate ftf proposed in this forum ), Tried to use the sony update service .. But I have always the same problem (INVALID CARD)
I've also tried to format everything with CWM (system, card, cache) and made a sdcard partition, and NO way.
So, can any body help me with that please?!
Note : I'm in the middle east zone, some suggestions in the web talk about re-installing the official O2 rom, but I've searched this ROM with no success.

I have this error on XPERIA SP C5303 trying to flash 12.0.A.1.284 on top of 12.0.A.1.257. But my phone is SIM Locked and I know it. And I thought that rewriting simlock.ta from unlocked firmware unlock the phone as well. But flashtool skipping that file. It's really annoying !!! Don't know what to do to unlock it now

You should be happy it isn't flashing. FLASHING SOMEONE ELSE'S TA MAY HARD-BRICK YOUR DEVICE. In this state, I've heard even sony need to replace entire motherboard.

Hi guys
After an operator unlock processing (Wotanserver) this Lt18i Arc S refuses to conect to any operator.
"Could not conect to selected network"
Already do a factory reset, installed an official update, tested with some Sim cards and no card allow to conect to the operator.
Does anyone knows a way to restore the mobile phone?
Many thanks
You'll need to contact them if reflashing a stock ROM is still giving the error.
Finnaly i got a reply. They suggested to try again the same process. Now aparently the operator is unlocked (in service menu the "operator" option is 0) and the bootloader is unlocked.
Moderator you may close this thread. Many thanks
Hi everyone. My friend and I tried to flash a custom rom to his Xperia S. so before that we have to root, install recovery and etc.
we succeed on flash everything but that's what we thought. We noticed that the phone doesn't have any network, tried different sim and both from different networks are useless. So we Read and we still can't find any solution.
the phone IMEI is intact
the phone is sim unlocked
the baseband is 8660-AAAABQOLYM-313065-39
the phone is on .96 FTF
we already tried to revert back to .96 FTFs I think the baseband is not compatible with our country Philippines.
we already tried downloading the .96 customized PH FTF from Xperiafirm but still there's no luck.
we already tried repairing through PC companion
we already tried flashing FTFs .200 .211 and.96
Can you help us?

Did You flash a stock firmware using flashtool version 0.9.19.1? It causes sim lock while flashing. It was brought to attention when same problem was aced by other user. Quoting him below.

Tried many stock FW and found the reason of the recent problem happened to many people all over the world. That's flashtool-0.9.19.1 which contained some script errors which lead to bootloader locking and loose of network connection

thanks for the immediate reply. What should we do then? just flash a stock FTF using flashtool with different version from the ones you stated? or we can still use the 0.9.19.1 but we have to exclude the simlock?
No network

That's no use bro. I've tried many Stock FW as well as many versions of Flashtool after getting same problem with my phone. As Flashtool creator wrote "The only way to recover from locked phones is to reactivate them in a service center or to restore the 07DA unit". So, if you don't have TA partition backup made prior bootloader unlocking then you've got an alarm with camera & mp3 player made by Sony. The ASC propose to replace the whole motherboard.
