Lightweight N5X rom recommendations - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Recently I switched to 1+6T and I want to use my N5X as a music player to keep in the car. I don't need very many features on the rom (maybe cursor control would be nice with the volume keys). What I want is a very lightweight rom that won't take a lot of battery. What would you recommend?
Thanks

I suggest you lineage os 15.1. You can use sphinx kernel from @milouk over it if you want.

Lineage 15.1, pico gapps and android go enabler should be fine
Aaaaand franco kernel ofc

Just using this ROM here, much better than AOSP Extended in terms of performance and battery, really good.
I do not have anything to do with development of this Rom, but I have been waiting for it for a long time. The MM version was my daily driver.
Rom is not Rooted, I used Magisk.
Hi guys,
Using this Rom since morning and I must say that this Rom is far more better than any other Rom available for our titan. It's smooth, fast and has good performance. Thank you so much Devs for updating it to Nougat.
Features and Performance

Every Nougat Rom looks the same, no matter if its AOSP or LOS.

Sent from my Moto G 2014 using XDA Labs
Using it from yesterday. Till now no issues. Great battery back up and performance. Let's see how it will hold up in next few days. I had already tried Aosp extended, RR but this one seems much better than the rest (at least for my device.)
May be I will make this my daily driver till Android O comes.
I installed Zero Byte Kernel over this Rom, overclock to 1.6 GHZ!
Great ROM
This is a great ROM, it's really responsive with great battery life and performance ( at least for my usage ).

How to install what? This ROM?
11.0.1 release fixes problem with Google Camera.
Built-in Gapps appears to be Pico, only Play Store, Gmail and Chrome. Interesting that Chrome is pre-set as Webview.

No, the built in Gapps is like OpenGApps micro with additional: CalculatorGoogle + ClockGoogle + Messenger + TagGoogle + Photos + Chrome + CloudPrint + Talkback + CameraGoogle + ContactsGoogle + DialerGoogle + KeyboardGoogle + StorageManagerGoogle + PrintServiceGoogle + Wallpapers
If Chrome is installed as a systemapp it always appears as webview standard. (like on the pixel devices)

Any suggestions for a minimal rom for Zuk Z2?

I was on JDCTeam at 7.1.2, I tried other roms, but they spend a lot of battery even on idle. I tried 3 roms stok, qfil, but they are very heavy, 1.5gb, full of Chinese apps that can not be uninstalled, dialer, contacts, message ... I do not want the Chinese government seeing my data, enough NSA .. I tried to go back to JDCTeam 7.1.2, but the gapps do not open. Now I'm with the 8.0 stok, playing PUBG is very bad, even installing the PUBG Tool the game is full of lag, unplayable. I wanted a small rom, those of 450mb or less, with gapps pico preinstalled, google settings. No battery-draining features, no special launchers, no themes, no wallpapers ... Just the androi stock, like the one that came on the Moto X2. Maybe with the Utouch configuration that comes in the ZUI. Could someone do this? A lot of people just want a simple and light rom. I would like some suggestion of a rom "android stok".

Hi, did you try? Your feedback pls.
I did not install it. In the page asks to install another file before, but does not explain well as.
Getting a minimal ROM below 450MB with pre-installed pico gapps ain't possible for our device.
But cleaner ROMs with very less features :
1. Lineage OS
2. Jaguar
3. Cardinal AOSP
4. Arrow OS
Other ROMs are there may be which I've never tried.
Note : AOSIP is a good ROM but not minimal, it just 1 step behind RR in terms or customization & features quantity, according to your preference I believe you won't like AOSIP.
Also, less size of the ROM file may not mean it has less features & apps. Deodexed ROMs are smaller than odexed ROMs but may have more features & apps pre-installed.
I used Jaguar, it's very good, but it uses a lot of battery. I would go back to JDCTeam 7.1.2, I used it for a long time. But now when I flash that the gapps do not work.
I am now using the stock rom rom 8.0. It's a really bad rom, watching youtube in the chrome while charging the battery makes the apps stall and close. The pubg can not play anymore, because of the legs, nor gfxtool help, is a very poorly made rom. I wanted an Android Zero, a simple rom with google services. But I think I'd better learn how to make a rom.

This is cardinal AOSP that is suggested above. You'll probably like it.

Also search a bit online about "magisk " "Google service doze" "aggressive doze"
Lineage OS and Pixel experience are good for a minimal ROM

I'm going to try cardinal, it's looks good.
I installed cardinal os. The open gapps still not working.
Any suggestions you do not need to install open gapps? This thing does not work ..

I finally got it. The problem was the open gaaps, it crashing into any rom. I installed MindThegapps and it works fine.

Most beautiful/smooth ROM in 2020

Hi all, I currently installed the lineage os 17.1 because I love the android 10 gestures but the animations are very laggy.. so I'm here to search some help to find the most beautiful and fast ROM for this tablet. I'd like to have a good personalization and a good performance (maybe a ROM kernel combo can help). So I don't care what version of Android is. Thanks in advance and sorry if my English is not good!
I reccomend Sailfish OS 2.1.1.26 (copy paste the link into your url and delete the last bit so it takes you to the build directory)
install alien dalvik and patch the headphone jack and it's perfect. that's just ime though, it's a bit annoying getting it set up.
Other than that, I reccomend LOS 14.1 as when I used to own one that was very excellent and fluid.
If you are interested in the Sailfish OS route PM me.

Best lightweight ROM for this phone at the moment

Hello,
I was given this phone with a request to make it "usable" as a backup device, since it was lagging like hell. At the moment it's running stock sense android 6.0 rom. My question would be, as in title - what would be your current recommendation for this phone? Latest lineage, or some older version of 9.0/8.0?
Best regards
The lightest would probably be newest lineage os without installing google apps.
I'm still using crdroid 4.7 that's on android 8.1 as it's very solid and the few android 10 roms I tried have too many bugs for me.
Yeah, Lineage 17.1.
I'm using that with Pico Gapps. Use my M8 as a media player only (the only app installed is Onkyo HF Player), great DAC, and a HEADPHONE socket!
This is not the fastest device in town, so using it as a phone will be a bit slow.
Oh yeah, if it's the original battery, it won't last long.

Best custom rom for mi a2 lite

Hello guys, I hope I'm posting in the right section.
I've been looking for a few days in other threads regarding custom roms for the mi a2 lite, but I really cannot undestand which one would be better, so here I am asking for advice.
I wanna change from stock rom (android 10), so should I install android 11 or 12 (I personally would love the 12 but if there are cons I'm all ears)? And what is the best rom (in terms of stability and battery consumption) for each os?
Thanks in advance
stability + battery consumption + many customization options + no bug in Instagram reels Go with crDroid 8.4 Android 12.1

Thanks for the advice! I’m currently trying arrowos, but I will consider crdroid
Hi.
I am using MSM-Xtended, I like it a lot, it have a lot of customization options and have been very stable for me,
I use it with Orange Fox recovery and without any Google stuff at all.
If anyone know of another ROM (newer maybe) with plenty customization options that is somewhat stable I would love to hear your suggestion as I want to try another rom now, but not all of them, there are too many.
Customization+privacy+de-googled+de-bloated is features I appreciate.
I installed MindTheGapps 12.1.0 0220416 on crDroid 8.4.
It looks OK, Android Auto works and performances are good (it looks a bit better, no random idles).
