I tested this build and it works great.It is made for the A2 , but it seems that it also works with our A2 Lite phones.
You still need to enable Camera2Api to use this GCam. There is also some Magisk Module in the package , but I didn't used it because I already have Camera2Api enabled.

Yesterday I activated camera2 api (I mistakenly deleted all data via 'unlock bootloader' , blla bla ...).
Later I TRY THE CAMERA AND I DO NOT SEE ANY SPECIAL AT GCAM.
I was expecting something better. Maybe I'm wrong. Correct me please

Hi! Do you know if the settings applied with the setprop persist statements do will change something in /system and so they would impact on the OTA routine upgrades (I'm using Magisk, with API 2 Module applyed but having trouble with focusing in Pie, when I was in Oreo all worked flawlessly)?
I'm using your same release camera from bulkin043
Eventually what' best way to apply them? Fastboot?

I have to say that after today's trip, the setting remains at 16: 9 (4: 3 auto focus PIE, buuu ...) I'm happy with the pictures (HDR +). Yesterday, great night pictures - respect for Gcam!
As for the Api2 configuration I used ADB (not impact to the OTA) .
Short-range focus works well at 16: 9 and sometimes just after switching on 4: 3 (but it works normally - nice pictures).

Thanks for the clarification. Me too the same : 4:3 pretty much no fixed focus and 16:9 it is slow but in 3-4 trys it goes more or less fine ;nothing compared to old Oreo work... Too bad for niw

Are you on Version 11J? That also happens on me with that version, can't turn off HDR+ on front camera, whereas on my screenshot, I'm still on Ver. 10A where it shows the option to turn off HDR+, on the front camera. BTW, I'm sticking and rolling back to version 10A, the version I'm fine with.

Yeah, i was on newer version. On 10A it works. It would be nice if you could choose HDR+ ON for main and HDR+ OFF for front camera so that you don't need to switch that all the time. :silly:

Looks like my front camera doesn't work at all. When I put it to hdr+ enhanced the app just crashed. When hdr+ is on either the app doesn't process the photo or I get a completely green picture. When hdr+ is off I just get a green picture. Log attached

I'll started to try camera mods, this looks great for functionally on my phone, but have some glitches on my phone.
Phone: Redmi 5 Plus Global
Camera sensor: Sony IMX 486
Front sensor: OV5675
Rom: Xiaomi.eu latest
Camera2API enabled
Finally the burst mode working "good", this mod will be super when is done.
Rear camera: So the camera screen is freezing for long seconds, when moving a bit more, shaking the phone. Looks a bit the exposition and the light couse this.
After this need to wait some seconds 10-15 and the live preview and the cam working again.
I thinking at the first time and off the auto rotation setting, because a lot of times only need to rotate the phone 90 degree and crashed. But this not solved the problem
And a lot of times get FC.
Front camera: make a green glitch picture (not a real picture, looks when the photo is damaged and overall a green mishmash)

I've actually never got any FCs on my phone running AEX, maybe because my camera sensor is omnivision

Camera focus is a big mess. When I open the camera, the lens focus last only for 4 to 5 seconds and after that every thing blurs. Tapping on the focus point or letting camera to focus automatically doesn't work.

No doubt, switching to 9 mp resolution do fix the focus problem but sacrificing 12 mp for 9 mp produces unsatisfactory picture results ??

Thanks for the post! Latest version (2.1) still has green tint and blurriness on portrait mode unfortunately. Any ideas how to fix it? Highlight saturation is defaulted to 1.0 and setting it to 0.7 does not seem to change anything.
Uninstalled old version of gcam so i can install this...
Autofocus is a mess and with these versions hdr doesnt work (with old versions there was a bug when u turned hdr off lol)
Anyways picture quality is awful right now on selfie especially since you cant use HDR and HDR+

1. Focus is very bad working.
2. Back camera takes monochrom. photos.

I have been testing some ports, and now, with Android PIE the best for me is:
Gcam-6.1-minimal-test.apk (Tolyan009, 2019-01-29, android 9+, changelog)
In advance options (or similar, i have the mobile in spanish) u should disable portrait zoom, and active enchanced HDR. I use the "normal" GCam mode in large range photos, and it´s focused, when the camera cant focus i use the portrait mode (wihout de artificial zoom) and the tap focus is working aceptably. Night mode "works", not as it should, sometimes it´s in focus, sometimes not. I think i probed about the last 15 or 20 ports of GCam and been trying to change BSG configurations but i don´t find a better results than this "minimal" port.

well, have been testing most modded gcams here : https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
and unfortunately the reality is,
- focus is broken since our device got PIE. on oreo, it was perfect, photo shoot&forget... all sharp photos, no blurriness
(any betatesters reading here? maybe xiaomi will have a reason to ignore this issue because first root is needed to enable camera2api before but this focus issue becomes really irritating as 3 OTA's arrived after PIE)
- other methods mentioned here are all temporary: switching to portrait mode and then photo mode , or changing resolution to 16:9...

People on A2 forums, told, you cant use G Camera 6.1+, properly if u don't use use all these strings ,
when you enable camera2api.

A2lite isnt A2. Problem is NOT version of gcam. Problem is focus issue on A2lite and it seems only xiaomi developers can fix it. Maybe in one of next pie versions.

Yep focus does not work, tried at night.
With original camera it does, only gcam problem i think.
I have tested a bunch of GCam mods and found that best results come with versions optimized for Nokia 7 Plus - N7P.

I'm using this app, but the result photos can't be viewed via gcam app (gcam picture viewer is broken), must using external gallery.
Edit: I actually can view photos directly via gcam gallery, I changed the gcam setting on "using classic photo viewer"

I tried several versions, only some of them work partially - night mode is lacking as hell.
Reminds me of the MI8 before they implemented fixes for it in the official ROM.

tried it just now, sadly the camera doesn't even launch (Chinese rom)
this is the only one that works,You have to adjust some settings.

Do you know what those settings would be?
Go to BSG mod settings-->Fix
Sett buffer fix to On
Image format JPEG (Need mi8)
Add aux to camera switch On
This is what I set
thanks, it works with such settings. I tried a night mode photo and the quality is improved a lot respect to miui camera

Yeah, a wide lense support of the gcam as seen on the MI 9 and the LG Series would be really helpfull!

I would like to post some pics but somehow I cant
so... no progress here, right.
i tested tons and several of modded gcam.. with none of them night mode is working properly. it just struggles around after 2sec and is not usable.
strange the the normal mi 9 has a working version.
is there something missing in case of firmware xiaomi has to patch to make it work? just asking because this was the case on mi8 and mix2s.. after a patch from xiaomi gcams were surprisingly working..

cmiiw, mi 9 se required gcam that has 'Frame Buffer' fix on it. Maybe that was firmware problem or maybe something else... ??*
uhmm no. not correct. buffer fix works indeed for normal gcam usage.. ut the buffer fix doesn't apply to night mode.
Can someone do a little comparison between stock camera and GCam? With some sample. This could be awesome.

I'd also appreciate this. From what I gather too, the gcam works fine in all functions other than night mode?
A quick comparison from my sofa.... both shots attempted to hold same position, with the focus on the nearest point of the lip of the cup.
Xiaomi.eu 9.5.9 shot on 48M camera mode - link
MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk shot on 48M HDR+ camera mode - link
The default settings with Xiaomi camera produced 6000x8000 13.5MB JPEG, on gcam 3000x4000 2.0MB.
Colour reproduction, contrast and detail is so much better with HDR+ processing using gcam camera. This is typical of what I find when comparing gcam to xiaomi camera app.

It's not working in hdr+ or hdr++ on stock 10.0.14.0.
It's working on 10.0.13.0 flawlessly!

Yes, enabled. Back camera Ok, but front not talking pictures in hdr. Stock 10.0.14.0, magisk 19.4 and butterfly kernel.

And without camera2 api any gcam will crash.

This is beyond strange, still working for me. Try to take another picture with front camera and check like a minute later if the pic is showing in your gallery. It takes a bit for our A2 to proceed the selfie. If it's still not working idk?

Still no luck. Can take picture in normal mode, not in hdr. Have you changed any settings, developer settings?
Does the focus on Android Pie work?
10.0.14.0 HDR not working on the front facing camera, everything else works I believe. Also i think there was a version that could shot 1080 60fps video, not really sure, this version only shots at 30 fps. Thanks for the apk!!
the focus is very unstable
On my phone it won't even install, even though I have camera2 api. Other GCam's (version 5 and 6) do work.

you have to uninstall one the versions you have installed then you try installing again.. it conflicts with the existing one you have installed.. I'm sure it's the v5

Indeed, after uninstalling both the V5 and V6 GCam, it worked. Thanks!
Too bad i have to manually switch HDR off when using the front cam, and back on again when using the back cam.
There are focus issues as usual. If someone can specifically build a GCam version for Mi A series, that would be great.

I heard there is astronomy photography feature(cuttlefish mode) in gcam v.7. But with this version I cant find one though there are several options "camera.cuttle.something" in the developer options. Anybody knows about it?

I didn't meant the settings thing, i want the feature, while shooting in night mode there should be the cuttlefish mode, this mode have a very long exposure time like 1 min or so and u have to keep the phone steady for that time. This mode ultimately create more sharper image than the previous night mode, also can detect stars.
