I've been in deep thought on whether to get the Pixel or the Pixel XL. I've anyways had my mind set on the XL as I'm used to larger phones lately, but the 5" screen is nothing tiny. I've read a number of reviews who state the Pixel is more comfortable to hold and they prefer the feel of it. Have any of you who own the XL ever wish you got the smaller one instead? If so, is there a specific reason?
I'll admit, part of my reasoning for contemplating it is availability.
I am using Pixel, and would not like to get a big one which makes difficult to carry daily
Nope,I had a n6 before this, and it (pixel xl) fits my hands perfectly. 5 in phones make my hands feel too cramped.
I am tired of phones that are bigger than 5 or 5.2,,,,I had the moto Z force and it was a great phone but it was still too big for me. I decided on the 5" Pixel and havent regretted it since.
Even the xl is a little too small for me. Prefer the N6 size. No way I could go smaller.

I've had 5.5"+ phones going back to the LG G3, and wouldn't mind hitting 6", ala the Huawei Mate 9. 5" isn't even a consideration anymore. You can try to justify getting the Pixel just because it's available, but if you want the XL, you'll always wish you had waited for it.
50-50. When I work I feel like I wish I had the smaller phone, because it's always in my hand but when I'm home I feel like XL is worth it. My eyes are probably done or something but the default scaling of XL even I find too small, and making the font or display area bigger makes it a little too big for my taste. But one thing is sure, coming from a Note 4, this phone is much easier to hold and operate with one hand, because it's much narrower. But if you want real freedom go with the normal version, like you said 5 inches is still a very good size for a mobile phone.
My wife has a Pixel, and I have an XL. I tinker with the PIxel enough to know that I do not prefer it. The XL is not nearly as large as others in the same size group (the LG V20 comes to mind) wile the Pixel feels a little larger than I expected it to, also the XL fits fin in my pocket with Incipio case. Definitely the XL for me, but at the same time it is not even an option for my wife and here smaller hands.
The largest phone I had prior to my Pixel XL is the iPhone 6 and felt I could never go bigger, yet I honestly didn't feel it was much bigger in my hand once I switched. It wasn't until I laid my old phone on top of my Pixel XL that I truly notice how much bigger it was. The first case I had was the OtterBox Commuter and the ledges made it so easy to use the larger phone but since then I purchased the LifeProof Fre and this case has made it a bit harder to manage since I don't have the ledges to hold onto when stretching to the top corner.
Long story short, the benefits of higher DPI and better battery life makes the Pixel XL a clear winner in my book.

Ugh, that's what I was thinking... Hearing someone else say it confirms what I suspected...
However, I'm going to go to Verizon and play with both, just to see. My wife has an S7 and I kind of like the feel of it.
The battery life sold me. Much smaller advantage for me is screen resolution for use with Daydream VR, though I haven't compared Pixel and Pixel XL side by side.

I came from a Nexus 5 to a Nexus 6 to the Pixel XL. I think the XL is the perfect size. The right compromise between usability, legibility, and ease of use.
It's personal preference. I need to be able to use my device one handed all the time. The Pixel is good for that. I've had phone around 5.5 inch and prefer the smaller ones these days. I'm glad we can get high end specs in smaller phones now.

I would like to hear from anyone who has found a stylus that works satisfactorily.
would also like to know, subbed
I use this one and it works very well, even through my tempered glass protector:
http://www.adonit.net/jot/switch
I tired a whole bunch of the rubber nubbed ones and always come back to the Adonit. I use it for both my 2XL and Nexus 9.
Bought these a year or so ago for my OnePlus 3, Used them on my OnePlus 3, 3T, iPhone 6s+, iPhone 7+, Galaxy s8+, Galaxy Note 8 and Pixel 2 XL so far. Absolutely phenomenal product for the price.

Pixel 2 XL has the better camera. Pixel 1 is okay but a lot of lens flare and video isn't great, I'm sure both of these things were fixed on Pixel 2
Pixel 2 definitely has the better camera LoL, why would you think Pixel 2016 would have the better camera anyway? Check DPReview's review for both devices, Pixel 2 is quite clearly ahead in terms of still image quality, however what's funny they have rated the Pixel 2016 better in terms of video recording quality compared to Pixel 2, that's really weird.
In any case the OG Pixel for daytime still image quality is still ahead than the likes of iPhone X, so there's that.

Cuz in YouTube all clips show in daylight Pixel XL is better over Pixel 2!
I have used Nexus 6p for 3 years and was holding off from upgrading to Pixel 2XL since I wanted to see what Pixel 3 Xl offers.
New Pixel 2XL is available for $500 including tax while same cost $955 in my country. Essentially I would be paying prices of two Pixel 2XL for Pixel 3XL.
I have sufficient money to buy the Pixel 3XL but it's not like I have lots of cash lying around to burn.
Out of the features not coming to Pixel 2XL, I mostly care about Top shot(Is Top shot really a hardware feature?) and Super Res Zoom only.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...ing-older-pixel-phones-will-remain-exclusive/
Questions
Should I just buy Pixel 2Xl and skip Pixel 3XL? Pixel 2Xl will anyway receive android Q & R, so I will be up-to-date on android for 3 years.
Main concern I have with Pixel 2XL is the poor screen with blue shift, bad colors and black crush. Are these issue by Google in the latest hardware revision of Pixel 2XL?
How is the non-gaming performance of Pixel 2XL after 1 year compared to Pixel 3XL?
Is Top shot be available on Pixel 2XL through modded APK?
Is the PVC really updated? https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Google+Pixel+3+XL+Teardown/113656 says it's not, however, XDA reported its updated.
Has anyone here chose between 2XL & 3 XL after Pixel 3XL launched? Please share your thoughts.
Pixel 2 XL Oreo 4 the win
Here's my 2 cents. Go with Pixel 2 XL and force it to Oreo. Google has been updating firmware to accommodate the common customer who does not know how to restrict apps from draining battery life. Along with that the update has caused a significant decrease in battery life for the advanced users because they knew how good the battery life was before the update. With that in mind they have upgraded to the pixel 3 and they have created a new software for it. However that power saving system is still in there. So if you are looking for performance, compatibility, battery life. then stick with the pixel 2 XL and you should be able to have a more stable battery life even without rooting your phone. Oh and a side note that really made it a deal breaker for me is that the battery life is even less comparing the pixel XL 2 to the pixel XL 3.
There isn't enough difference with the XL 3 to justify the price.
Performance-wise the XL 2 does just fine, and I'd recommend testing it in-store, so if you have screen issues you can just return it right there.
Pixel 2 XL still has a great development future... P3xl is expensive for few spec upgrades!
I just received my new 64gb p2xl last week. I didn't see much difference between the two of them to justify the extra 500 bucks. I was a long time Galaxy user and Ive been beyond happy with my 2xl. Root is super easy, the screen seems perfectly fine to me. However everyone's eyes are different. I have no issues with TWRP. Id save the cash, Google store is offering trade installed now for new pixel devices. Trade an old device in, pick up a 2xl for 600 bucks.

1) If you can wait, buy Pixel 3 later.
2) Honestly, I bought a Pixel 2XL in May this year and I still have to notice if it has blue tint shift. I don't really care to watch my phone on its side. But it does have black crush and it's annoying if you're watching videos on nights because you have to rise the brightness up. It's adjustable paying 3 dollars, with an app... I tried, but doesn't look that better to me. Anyway, I don't care. The display is still beautiful to watch. It really pops, so maybe that's why it has black crushes.
3) Performace is great, and even Xiaomi Mi A2 is great with a lower processor. Don't be worried.
4) I don't know, I think we don't have Top Shot at the moment. Yeah, it's cool.
5) I'm sorry, I don't know.
I'll buy Pixel 3 or Pixel 3XL, but definitely later IF the price will go down a bit. New features are cool, but the extra cash is not worth. Pixel 2XL is still officially sold by Google and supported for more two years I think.
I own a Pixel 2 XL and here's what I can say:
1. Unless you get a very very good discount on the Pixel 3 XL, I don't this the price difference is fair at all.
2. The display is actually VERY good. At first it looked very bad to me tbh, but within less than a week I started loving it. I even compared it with the Note 9 (on the Basic screen mode, which is the accurate one) and they're almost identical in terms of colours. Black crush though is TERRIBLE, but fortunately there's a FREE app that can fix it (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.knatech.colorfilter)
Just keep in mind that you need to set different values for different brightness levels. Unfortunately a lot of Android devices (including the Pixel 3 XL) have black crush too, but I do think the Pixel 2 XL is the worst on lower brightness levels. The display also has a paper-like texture, but this is very minor.
3. I can't compare it with the 3 XL, but the 2 XL is very good overall, but ram management is TERRIBLE, apps need to be reloaded all the freaking time and it drives me nuts. Even after Google's "fix" it's still terrible, to the point where music stops playing when I open the camera. This problem is also present on the Pixel 3.
4. You can already get Top Shot on the Pixel 2, you just have to download the right version of Google Photos (yeah, Google Photos! I know it sounds weird, but here's the link: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-photos-daydream/)
Just keep in mind that Top Shot isn't that great actually, as it takes very low resolution photos (3MP for the recommended ones and 1.8MP for the others.)
You can also download CStark's Camera mod that brings the other Pixel 3 features and improvements to the Pixel 2 and 1 (here's the link to the latest one: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/P3v9.1_GoogleCamera_6.1.021.apk)
5. No, the Pixel Visual Core is the exact same model, as you can see in teardowns.
You'll fastly get used to the blue shift.
I almost can't see it now.
The black crush is the real problem. It's horrible sometime especially for some content. For exemple, i have zero black crush while watching Linus Tech tips on YouTube but other YouTuber i get insanely high crush. It might have to do with black value used in content
Also download the pixel 3 camera from Cstark27 for the pixel 2 and you will have 95% of pixel 3 performance

Do you still recommend staying in Oreo?
Im getting one of them given to me for free. And i have the choice between them. But i dont know which one to go for.
I want to know which one has the better speakers as i listen to alot of music whilst i work in a pretty loud environment.
I also have listened to the speakers on the 3A XL and when tilted sideways it sounds like the music is coming from the middle of the phone, a pretty nice balanced experience. But i havnt tried the 3 XL, does it have the same or better audio? is it unbalanced or anything?
And which one is the better phone in general?
Im going to make my decision based off what answers i get here.
thank you in advance
If speakers are all that matter, the 3a series does have stereo but one speaker faces down while the 3 series has 2 front facing speakers. I guess it depends on how you hold the phone. I have owned the 3 and the 3a. I like different things about the 2. The 3xl will have a notch. Both perform well but the 3 and 3xl will perform better if you are playing games. The 3a and 3a xl will have better battery performance. The cameras perform the same with 2 exceptions, the 3xl will have a wide angle selfie camera in addition to the standard selfie cam, which is nice to get more in your shot, the 3xl will also have the Pixel visual core, which allows shots to be captured and process faster. The 3xl will also have wireless charging. Both screens are great and equally as bright. The 3a will have a plastic body while the 3xl will have all glass, including the back.
That's all I can think of. I don't think 1 it's better than the other, just small differences. I chose the a series due to the shower processor, I don't play games on my phone and prefer better battery life.
