Mobile data stopped working - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Like the title says. I've been using the same rom for over a month without issues. Last night it froze. I had to force a reboot but it went to stock recovery (I have TWRP). I wasn't using any new apps nor did I attempt to change any settings.
From there I booted up and I could no longer connect to mobile data. When I toggle it on it just turns itself off. That's not the only thing I noticed. I can't swipe quick settings open all the way open. To do that I must use the finger print and swipe down, then I can see the full QS tiles.
I can make calls and text but it won't connect to mobile data.
Anyone experience anything like this?
I've never needed to configure an APN or anything like that the whole time I've had the phone (about a year). It's always worked automatically with no setup necessary.
I'd really appreciate some help of anyone can assist. Thanks
**Things I've tried so far;
- wipe caches & reboot
- removing sim
- switching sim slot

How do I disable phone function?

I have an Evo 4G that I use for GPS function via tethering and for watching Netflix and such. It is not used as a cellphone not am I planning on using it as such. Is there any way to completely remove the phone functionality from it? Including text app, dialer, contacts, etc. I am looking for anything else besides putting it in airplane mode.
Rooted, running some super cool rom.
You could try using Titanium backup to freeze the applications you feel you do not need. If that causes no issues, you can remove them. There should be nothing in Android that is reliant upon Phone, MMS or Contacts.
Just take them off of your home screen and hide them from your app drawer.
What's wrong with Airplane Mode? Enable airplane mode, then enable wifi. Wifi still works, and the phone doesn't keep trying to connect. Having the Phone/Contacts and SMS apps installed without using them won't hurt anything. Removing them may cause problems, and the phone may still attempt to connect to Sprint's towers.
If you do decide to attempt removing them, do a nandroid backup first. If you get bootloops, just restore or reflash the rom over itself.
From experience, trying to freeze or remove your phone app will cause all sorts of issues. Airplane mode should work just fine. Since you will not be using your radios you should have little battery drain if that was a concern.
I can`t understand why are you require for this,of course , evo 4g is a nice toy
Thank you for your replies. I know airplane mode works well but I was thinking about the phone and text features as applications I won't use so there is no point in them taking up internal memory.
As for freezing them, I've read in a few different sites that it causes all kinds of freezes and force closes. I'll see if I can find a ROM that Is tested with those features disabled, even though I seriously doubt it.

If you really want to remove them download and aosp rom, cm7, decks 1.3/d, salvage mod(gb roms), aokp(ics) and use a screen dpi app to lower the screen dpi to 160 forcing the rom into tablet mode. Then remove MMS.apk with titanium backup first, then contacts/people and phone, maybe one apk on some roms. Then it will start force closing. Now pull the battery and reboot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, go to advanced fix permissions, wipe cache and dalvik cache again and reboot. This will remove the apps and stop the force closes, once rebooted turn on airplane mode, then wifi and you know have a wifi only mini tablet.

[Q] GMAIL Crash

Just received this SGN2 a few days ago. It's on Sprint and is running stock 4.1.2 and was never rooted or had any recoveries installed to it. I did a factory reset and installed my apps.
Whenever I get an email in the default Gmail app, I usually pull down the notification and tap it. Since I have box installed, it prompts me to choose the app I want to use to open the email. If I tap on Gmail and select just once everything works fine, but if I select Gmail then select always, my phone restarts(Boot animation etc...).
Has anyone encountered this at all or knows of a way to fix this? I'm thinking I should most likely go into stock recovery and clear cache or something. Don't know how that's going to help since this happened from a clean install.
Also, I have horrible battery life. WIFI off, BT off, 4G off(running 3G only), no S-pen detection, brightness on low, full cylce charge, but I still can't get the phone to output more than 7 to 8 hours of use. I don't think that I am such a power user. LOL. Will for find some other threads discussing about battery life on this thing.

Is there an Issue AICP 10.0 Android 5.1.1 Restrict Background Data (Spring SPH-L710)

I have AICP on my L710, but, lately it has ben acting strange. I use it with FreedomPop so I don't have a lot of data and am trying to set it do auto updates and the like over wifi. I have these settings set this way in Play and on the phone. I'm also noticing that the phone is sometimes stopping on its own and rebooting. Somethings it goes through a long animation and is doing a lot of updates, other times reboots, but, I don't see it updating any apps. It seems to often happen when I'm in my car (not connected to a mobile network) while a USB cable is attached for power. I just want to listen to music that is stored in my phone and I wind up having it stop and reboot.
I have also noticed that the phone is using up my very limited mobile data in just a few days. I see it is the OS that is what is using all this data.
I know this month a few days ago at the beginning of the cycle I had it set to restrict background data, play was set for only update over wifi, etc. I also installed a better data usage monitor. Today I got a warning that I had used over half my allotment of data. While looking things over, I found that restrict background data for mobile network was no longer checked. I'm guessing this got reset back to non-restrict after an update that I didn't initiate.
So I have a few questions:
What triggers the auto update to reboot on it's own? I imagine the files and what not are downloaded when on wifi as they should, but, the actual reboot to initiate the installation seems to be happening on its own. Is there some setting to ask if I want to update now I could switch on to have some control over this?
It seems like this auto rebooting seems so be happening with a USB cable plugged in. I was wondering if maybe the connector is getting bad or something mechanical is causing a short or long an causing this. I can sort of understand something like that causing it to shut down, but, it doesn't seem like it would reboot automatically.
Finally, is there some way I can set it specify restrict network data on every bootup. I have looked at boot manager, but, this only allows me to specify what apps start. Is there an app that includes system settings that I could install? This seems like it would just being doing the same thing that changing the setting on the OS restrict background setting checkbox. It seems like it should be persistent.
Or maybe there is a bug in the ROM, that is overwriting this setting when it does an update?
Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on, what I can check and do to fix this?
TIA

E6853 Stock ROM 7.0 (32.3.A.0.376) : Sony Phone App, Alarm & MPE

Hi
I've just had the OTA update for my Z5 Premium to take it to Android 7.0
BUT since the upgrade, there are three issues I'm having, can anyone point me in the right direction? (Have and am still googling)
The phone app no longer has a built in answer phone, I assume the previous phone app was a Sony one? or is it the android stock app and the answerphone feature is no longer available I miss that loads, especially as my service provider charges me to check my messages that it takes (previously only when I was out of signal) - is there a work around or alternative app available?
My alarm still goes off ok, and it wakes the phone up, but the alarm does not show on the screen with the slider for off/snooze. I have to unlock the phone, swipe down the notifications, select the alarm notification then set off. OK it's much better at actually waking me up as I have to do so many actions to silence it, but I really would love to have my snooze back.
MPE, MyPhoneExplorer. I have also asked this one over on the MPE forum, but since the update, when I use the Manage Phone setting, I get a blank screen on my PC as if I was viewing a screen that had been set with FLAG_SECURE, but I can still interact with it (by guessing the approximate location of buttons!) To get the remote control, MPE uses the Cast Screen function I think.
Any help from you guys would be really appreciated as always.
Thanks
I do not have any problems like this. Do a clean install. Wipe Dalvik Cache was done after updating. Instead of updating, you install zero rom. Otherwise there will not be a clean installation.
1, rom installation
2, Wipe Dalvik Cache
3, system reboot
Thanks ayhanornek,
So are you saying the phone app used on Android 7.0 has a built in answerphone feature (not redirect to carrier) as it did on Android 6 and that it was not a Sony phone app?
Also, have you used a remote phone manager that uses the Cast screen function, could you please confirm?
I only ask as the ART cache is not likely to cause issues like those I am having, well possibly the MPE issues, but as I am pretty sue the server is using the built in CAST function, that would not have code in the ART cache would it? Certainly it would not result in settings not being displayed.
I have already tried clearing the cache associated directly with the alarm and MPE server cache but this has not helped.
Thanks in advance.

Can't setup internet after factory reset (stock MM H815T)

I had been playing with some settings in the hidden menu and developer options sometime before this problem began but AFAIK I returned everything back to default and the phone was working fine for a while afterwards. So I am not sure exactly why the Wifi and bluetooth stopped working. When I dragged down the notification bar to toggle the Wifi icon it just flashes like a strobe light and never turns on. If I go to toggle the slider in the Settings menu, it's either greyed out, or immediately slides back to Off. Discovered that the bluetooth also did the same thing, but Data connection still worked. Also for some reason the phone now took a solid 60 seconds to boot up when it used to take 30 or less.
I did a factory reset in case I had overlooked changing some option back to default, and when that didn't work I flashed stock ROM H815-20g-00-1023 (I'm ~ 95% sure it was running 20g to begin with but it might have been another letter instead) with LGUP. But the problem still persists --- I can't complete the LG setup process because the page for setting up the internet connection is either completely blank or if it does come up the checkbox for Wifi is greyed out... and even if the mobile data option is able to be selected the setup wizard will not let you proceed without Wifi.
Any idea what might be the problem and how to fix?
Many thanks!
I've looked every which way on Google for possible solutions but none of them match the scenario I'm describing. Is this really a problem that no one else has ever had? :-O
