Why is advanced search so hard to get to on the XDA 2015 skin? Can't find a link to it on the "forum home" page!? I have to enter a thread first before I find the gear icon... Am I missing something?
Also no "quick links", have to dig to find my posts and subscribed threads... back to 2013 skin for me...
Yea, I'm not sure there is a link to the advanced search from the main forum home page. I agree it's not ideal. You can just bookmark this link for reference if you prefer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php
Also, the quickest way to get to your profile/posts/subscriptions is by clicking your profile icon in the top right corner and clicking your username. So your posts/subscriptions etc are only one click away.

Hi guys, I'm looking for some nice icon replacements for Top bar icons(only tabs that in line with start menu icon), cos I found the original set is the way too drab, and I'd like have something simple but colourful. since I can't make one on my own, if there is anyone got nice cabs, please share with me~~
Try this link dude.
This is a link to Mallmans top bar.
You need to install Sdkcerts.cab first, then the top bar. Links are in order:
Sdkcerts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=130527&d=1226888387
Mallman's Coloured topbar: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=130465&d=1226877598
Alternatively check the forum, this is where I got the link to Mallmans Topbar, but there are a number of others who have posted their own. You just need to choose the one you like best: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445497

I'll figure it out tonight, thanks
Hi,
Is there a way to only diplay the forum categories that you'd like to view instead of the whole list everytime? I'm just thinking that this would put less stress on the server as well as save some bandwith/time.
Thanks!
You can hide the content of a forum (you'll have just the title of the forum) by clicking on the arrow at the right end of the title.
What I have is a bookmark folder on my browser toolbar with all my individual forums set up as a shortcut. This way I can go straight to a particular forum. Just a suggestion
Am I missing some way to easily navigate back to the forum page when I'm at the bottom of a thread of postings?
vBulletin (that's not what we're using here, right?) has a dropdown at the bottom of every page where you can select a forum to navigate to, and by default it always has the current forum being read already selected, so you can just hit GO.
Here in XDA I get to the bottom of a page and can't figure out how to get back to the topic listing, except by going back to the top of the page, and clicking on the forum name in the forum->subforum->threadTitle navigation.
This is very cumbersome.
Pressing the BACK button on the keyboard is certainly an option, but this suffers from not updating the topic listing page, so I can't easily see which threads have new posts since I last visited them.
Sorry for the small novel explaining this.
If you use Chrome then you could use the XDA Toolbar (see my sig), made by one of the handsome and witty intelligent devs of this very site
It currently has a "Jump to top of page" button on it, which will halve your problem, but there will be a release soon that will include the ability to double-click that very same button and go to the parent forum (exactly like what you're asking for). The advantage of this is that you have to be neither at the top or bottom of the page to use it.
If you don't use Chrome, get used to pressing the home key a lot
Thanks for the response! Yes, I found the 'top' line quite a while ago, but never thought of using the home key. That helps a lot.
I look forward to the upgrade!
I am having a problem with the quick search and kindle fires pop up keyboard. If you use the quick search within a forum the keyboard pops up then disappears. This is using the stock kindle Kb and Swype. And dolphin HD and silk as well.
The only way to search and have the keyboard stay up is to go into advanced search. Then both keyboards work fine.
Just wondering if it might be a glitch in the web coding.
When I say quick search I mean clicking the search button within a forum typing in the search field that pops up immediately.
Does it the same way in search this thread too.
BTW, I just checked it out on my droidx and it behaves the same with Swype and also the multi touch keyboard.
Not sure if I was clear in my first post.
I am talking about searches on THIS forum. XDA-Developers.com
I am not talking about searches in general.
I am talking about the specific problem happening on this forum!!
Are you referring to the Contextual Search "pop-up"?
That probably was never intended for mobile use but you can easily turn that off in your User CP > Edit Options or this URL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editoptions
and uncheck "Enable Contextual Search"
Thanks for the reply. No I am not referring to the contextual search. That it's already disabled in my cp.
If you look right above the first post in this thread there is a "search this thread" button on the right. If I click that, a search box comes up right below the button. It is in that box that I am having the problem. Same for the "search this forum" button on the forum index.
The only way to search is to then go into advanced search. Then the keyboard will stay up so I can type.
Btw, thanks again. I realized I may not have been real clear in my first post.
I am looking at https://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php?folderid=0
I see 19 threads that I am subscribed to.
I see checkboxes on the right.
I can't find a way to unsubscribe from individual threads here.
Let's say I want to unsubscribe from 11 of the 19 threads.
How to do it?
Same problem on https://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription&folderid=all

Click to collapse
User Control Panel => Subscriptions.
Tick the threads to be unsubscribed on the right.
Scroll to the bottom of the page. You'll see a field called "Selected Threads".
Click on the dropdown arrow right of it.
Select "Delete Subscription".
Click on "Go".
I see. The control I was looking for was hidden in the "Move to Folder" menu! I would have never guessed. Thanks.
