Just got the Samsung Nexus ICS from Verizon the other day. Phone is still stock. Installed Pandora.
The issue: Playing Pandora for about 30 min or even 10 min the phone shuts off immediately and then turns back on. Does not even go back to playing music on Pandora. Right back to the first screen, password screen. Now I have played google music and this has not happened. I even un installed Pandora to troubleshoot which music engine is bugging. No issues with the phone after I un installed Pandora. I waited a full day then re installed Pandora and the issue has not gone away.
Talked to another forum member who has the same set up and he has had no issues with running Pandora.
Any suggestions.
Thanks

Pandora for me bugs out when trying to use it on ICS. It "sorta" works. I chock it up to not being ICS compatible.

No troubles running pandora here. AOKP with apex kernel. Maybe try fix permissions.
Mine works fine, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

I am running stock 4.0.2, rooted. Pandora is running fine on my Galaxy Nexus
I am running the GSM version. It streams fine over wifi and over the Cell network.
So, it doesn't look like the problem is ICS. It may be something specific with Verizon.
Are you playing over wifi, verizon CDMA, or LTE?
This may or may not be your issue. I've had a few apps crash on me. Turns out they didn't like the force 2d hardware rendering setting. Some apps don't crash but have other issues. Like tap-a-talk won't always show images with it turned on. If you have that on , you can try turning it off.

Pandora works fine for me with the screen on if I turn the screen off it cuts out from time to time. Sucks as I use it while working out and its driving me nuts. Any chance ICS is cutting CPU availability with the screen off and it impacts pandora?

I've had Pandora, Google Music, and Rhapsody all crash my phone a number of times: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379600 . Not sure what the issue is.
I have no issues with streaming Pandora on my stock 4.0.2 Verizon GNex all day (8-10 hrs). Like someone else said, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Could it be a Bluetooth problem?
I'm having the same issue with Pandora (and Stitcher). I use them on the drive to work with Ford Sync, and after a while the phone will restart. I think it may be a bluetooth problem because upon reboot, the bluetooth connection gets stuck and requires another boot once I get to my location.
The bluetooth incompatibility is a known issue and hopefully gets resolved soon
I'm running ARHD 6.04 (4.03 ICS) on Sensation.
It can be a hard hand off from LTE to CDMA 1X/EV-DO, even with eHRPD. The data connection actually stops before being picked up by the other network. If connection is lost, Pandora will pause itself. If it's in the background, it may be killed.
Just posted up my experience in this thread in the Q/A section:

I was told to try using Fix Permissions in RM, but ran into an issue with that as well.

Solved the Rom Manger Fix Permissions with this:
http://androidforums.com/899973-post26.html
woo, just a radio, still get lot to replace
Huh?
Anyway, Fix Permissions seemingly solved the problem for now... will update later.
So... One Pandora crash on 3G so far since Fix Permissions. Re-did the process and so far it has been holding again, for slacker and iheart too.
Pandora has done that on every phone I've had. That is why I don't use it anymore.

People have been seeing the GN do random reboots for awhile now, even when not using Pandora.
I've had it happen when the phone was just sitting there on the desk idle. I've had it happen during navigation with Google Maps. But it most frequently happens on Pandora.
There is a theory that it's a heat related issue. Basically that the phone is rebooting to protect itself.
There is some logic to that, as it seem to happen most frequently when I've got it plugged in charging and I'm streaming something to my phone (Pandora, Google Maps, etc).
It's apparently an issue Google is aware of, but that doesn't make it less frustrating.

I wish this were a more general reboot. The only other crash is get is with occasional flash videos, when trying to change the quality (youtube).
Otherwise, I have had NO OTHER RANDOM REBOOTS aside from Pandora/Slacker/iHeartRadio. Happening very frequently again. Is it just straight incompatibility? These apps are unusable and this is a heavy portion of what I use my phone for.
If it were heat, wouldn't all the games that leave my phone at hand-warmer status crash it? This does not happen for me. I explained very clearly when this issue was arising.
Hi all,
I have the strangest issue with my phone:
Whenever i'm streaming any music or podcasts on my phone (3g connection), the playback works perfectly for a couple of minutes and then it quits and does not resume until i turn the screen on again. As background, I was using the Android Revolution for a couple of months and was thinking that this might be caused by some sort of power saving feature, that cuts the data once the screen is turned off. I'm back to stock now and I'm still having the same issue. This is not application-related, since the same thing is happening with pocketcasts, spotify and google play music.
Can't find any other threads with the same kind of description of the issue, so I'm thinking I'm alone with the issue. The only thing I can think of would be my mobile service provider, but it makes no sense that the data connection would drop immediately when the screen is turned off. Also, the sleep mode has no effect on the issue.
Does anyone have any ideas!?
Try turning off SLEEP MODE from the power tab under settings.

Power Saver Mode (done by HTC) has an option that Disables data every time the screen goes off.
Although while I am streaming music on soundcloud , It still works with screen Off .

Just to let you guys know, that this was in fact caused by Android Revolution. I switched back to stock rom and was having issues with the play store not downloading apps that you have selected from the browser-based store. Had the same kind of issues with AR, so was thinking that the problem is still continuing. Used the stock rom over the weekend and noticed that even though i'm getting the random pause in music every now and then, the overall experience is way better.

I am experiencing what seems to be a reproducible phone crash while casting Google Play Music to my TV. If the phone goes to sleep while casting and I wake it, hitting volume down or up buttons while on the lock screen crashes the phone. I couldn't replicate the crash while casting YouTube, only Google Play Music. Also, no crashing when adjusting song volume from lock screen while not casting. When the phone crashes it goes straight to the boot animation, no splash screen shown, and gets stuck there. I have to force shutdown to get it to turn off.
Phone is s-off, rooted, running latest stock.
Anyone with a Chromecast willing to replicate this crash? Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks.

Yep. I've had it happen to me as well. I've never really tried to see what the issue may be though.
Its happening to me too. Are you using xposed mod to wake with volume button? I am and I'm thinking that might be the cause. I'll try it a little later and report back.
Edit. That's not the cause. I turned off that mod and it still happens.
No xposed mod or anything else. All I'm doing is trying to adjust the volume of the song that is playing, which one should be able to do while casting, and the whole phone crashes. Is this an HTC problem or Google problem? midnight assassin, what ROM are you running?

I am experienced the same issue last night while using Netflix. I tried adjusting the volume while using my chromecast and then my phone reboots into the HTC one screen. I have to hold the power button until it hard reboots.

I get this same issue on Verizon HTC One, although it seems the phone doesn't need to be actually asleep, and it will reboot itself - does not need a hard reset from me.
Non Rooted HTC One
I am also having the same issues when trying to change the volume of Play while the screen is off. I have a non rooted Verizon HTC One.
exact same issue with me when using volume rocker after phone goes to sleep while casting Play Music. I am using ATT phone rooted, s-off, running latest ARHD 31.6 rom. this seems to be an issue with chromecast as it only happens when casting.
Thanks for reporting. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is on Google's end or HTC's. My Nexus 7 doesn't have this problem while casting.
I emailed HTC support about it, with a link to this thread. I'll post back if I get a reply.
I've noticed the same issue. I'm running InsertCoin 6.0-5. It took two reboots before I figured out why my phone kept crashing. I've been using my Chromecast for a while, and I only recently went back to a Sense rom. I was running CM 10.2 until recently, and I can't recall having this issue on that rom, but I can't say for certain. I'm sort of glad to see that I'm not the only one having a problem.
Edit: Oh, and I just noticed this is the Verizon forum (came across this thread via Google). I have an AT&T HTC One.
It's still good to know that the problem is not carrier specific.
I did heard back from HTC and they just punted saying that it's a third party app, not their problem, and suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which doesn't fix anything.
Anyone know how to report this to Google?

Typical manufacturer BS. If your OS crashes because of a third party app, then there's something wrong with your OS. A properly designed OS should be incapable of crashing because of a third party app. Never mind the third party in question in this case is Google... If it only crashes under HTC's spin of Android, then HTC broke something and needs to fix it.
I'm tempted to wait until the "sense-ified" release of KitKat comes out to see if that fixes the issue, since I'm waiting on HTC to fix the stupid purple hue low-light camera issue as well.
I have this very same problem, except i dont have to force shutdown. It just reboots sense (takes about 10 seconds) and then all is fine.
I'm rocking a stock (android 4.3) international simlock free unit.
Not rooted, no s-off, no nothing. Fresh out of the box.
Im still having this same problem on my HTC one X running ViperX 4.07. Has anyone found a solution yet?
I've recently experienced a similar issue when casting from the GP Music app to my Sonos speakers. When trying to adjust the volume from within the GP Music app, it causes the phone to reboot. I have an HTC One still running 4.3 (my carrier in the UK dragging their feet a bit!). I was wondering (hoping) whether this is still an issue with 4.4?
Has anyone noticed their music skipping? Poweramp/stock player. Its getting annoying as my g3 does it too. Is it an android problem or a phone issue? My phone is the h815; no root/bootloader is locked.
Update: I have emailed lg support and will hopefully get it dealt with. If its a phone fault I will just switch it for something else. This problem has persisted since the g3 and is just plain frustrating.
New update: I investigated my microsd card and have found there is a problem with it. When i transfer items from and to the card i get an io eror under Windows. I put my music onto a 64GB card and now the skipping appears to have disappeared. I was using a 128GB lexar card. I suppose the skipping could be from where the os cant read the file properly. It was doing it every minute or so.

FWIW, since lollipop I've had random music glitches when playing over bluetooth. This goes back to my HTC M8 as well. 4.4.4 no issues.... lollipop, random skipping/distortion. Usually most noticeable when the screen turns off/locks

Thanks for the response, I guess I'll just have to hope that the software developers find a way to deal with the issue. I'm glad its not tied to just lg.

I use Dogcatcher for podcasts during my commute. I have noticed the audio dropouts with Wifidirect/Miracast as well. This seems to happen multiple times per minute. As stated, 4.4.4 had no issues on my prior SGS4.

As I use Bluetooth streaming from my LG G4 everytime I get in the car, this problem really annoyed me. Like you, I had tried many different settings without luck. I noticed these issues mostly in Doggcatcher and Spotify, but also heard drops in waze and maps. My issue was due to the location settings.
In location settings, I disabled wifi and only enabled GPS. I also use quite a bit of Tasker and leave the screen dimmed while connected to Bluetooth as the mirracast that I hacked into my car won't display with the screen off.
The other setting that may help is set in a program called carhome ultra, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=spinninghead.carhome which is a great car dashboard app. The setting will slow the GPS update rate. My phone is stock and unrooted.
I hope this fix works for you. If you have any questions, reply to this thread.
Hi,
If I'm playing a song or in a call and turn the screen off, the sound starts to stutter/lag immediately and starts to work find as soon as the screen is turned on. This happens with any app that is playing music/sound.
I have NOT updated my phone recently and I'm in the latest software update (Android 10).
This issue started suddenly and I'm not sure if it's something from the settings or what.
Disabling the "Optimise Battery Usage" for apps such as YouTube Music, Spotify, Messenger and WhatsApp did NOT solve the issue and the sound stuttering still occur when using these apps while the screen is off.
Restarting the phone did not resolve the issue.
This issue occurs while the phone is charging as well.
Any suggestion of how to resolve this issue? Anything apart from Factory Reset.
Also, my device is NOT rooted.
Thanks in advance!
