First noticed it a couple of months ago after an update. I use the talk to text a lot, especially when driving. After an update a couple of months back, it will not hardly work at all anymore. I have to literally yell or it won't even recognize that I've said anything. And even then, it's very inaccurate. Anyone else have this issue? And more importantly, anyone know how the heck to fix it???? My wife has an Honor X7, and hers is still fine for the talk to text. I went thru all the settings with them sitting side by side and they are the same. We use the Google keyboard. Current build: BND-L24 8.0.0.348(C567)

My T-mobile LG G3 has been working like a champ for many months. Now, call quality for person to whom I am speaking is very poor. It sounds like there is very faint speaking that drops in and out. This happens both on bluetooth and off, but is worse on bluetooth. There is no physical block to built-in or headset microphone. I know this because can record voice memo and do 'OK Google' dictation with ease. VOIP calls (Google hangout) are ok given my WiFi bandwidth.
T-mobile tier2 support tried to sell me on notion that lollipop might fix me (based on www_androidauthority_dot_com/lg-g3-problems-517832 ) but I'm skeptical and jumped at the offer of a handset replacement. Any other ideas out there?

try the replacement handset. I've had my G3 since it came out with no problems whatsoever.

Wow, my G3 just started doing this too. I've had it for 6 months and it's just been the past week that I've been having issues. It's hit or miss, but about 90% of the time I get complaints that the other person can't hear me or that I sound very faint. It's been driving me crazy. I've figured out that I can toggle speaker mode and it fixes it. Can you try that out see if it's the same for you?
I noticed this about a week ago, interesting. Wonder if it's something on tmobile's network.
This just happened to me as well on Tuesday, March 10th. I live in Los Angeles. A reboot seems to fix it for one call. This is kind of a big problem.

I'm now running in safe mode and a couple test calls to my Google Hangout sound fine. Don't think it's a hardware issue.
I've started to experience this too. It's really annoying. I hope it gets fixed soon. Though, I am glad to know it's not just me. I really didn't want to dig around in my apps to find the offender.
Question: Do any of you guys have the Nova Launcher Beta running? I think I started having issues around then.

Thanks! I downgraded and installed Google App 4.1.29 here http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-search/google-app-4-1-29-1706998-arm-android-apk-download/. Also disabled auto-update for Google Apps so it doesn't update to 4.2.16.87075793. I'll test it out and see what happens.
I also have had the same problem lately, just twice. A reboot fixed it
This is affecting me as well. I'm also in Los Angeles and the phone was fine until some time last week. I'm trying to the google apps downgrade now...
I also am having the same issue in my D851. My phone worked fine for 2 weeks and now 75% of the time the caller on the other end says they cant hear me and I sound like I am a mile away. This does not happen when I used VOIP such as hangouts. I am thinking about flashing a AOSP ROM until the t-mobile 5.0 build comes out.

Try downgrading the Google app. Worked fine for me.
Downgraded, seems better. Are people also recommending not to use voice activated Google now?
How do I downgrade the google app? I tried turning off the "OK Google" way, but still have the same problem.

In the play store for the Google search app click the uninstall button. That will return the app to it's factory version. Then just install the version that's linked earlier in this thread. Make sure you have automatic updates turned off for the app or it will keep updating.

Same thing happens to me. I had my phone for about 2 months now and sometimes people cant hear me or i sound like a transformer. i restart my phone and it fixes the problem but still does it after a couple days. I'm not rooted or anything like that. I also have a problem when I'm on a call. my volume bare goes up and down if i wanna lower and or raise it and the volume sounds the same even on speaker phone it does it too..
I had the problem turn off ok google from any screen and reboot and problem with voice calls fixed
I had this same problem. Maybe I should have came here first. I got a replacement in the mail a couple of days ago. New one seems to be working fine. Hopefully the problem doesnt start happening again.

I was gonna do a factory reset and if that didn't work i was gonna get a replacement . Hopefully this fixed the problem. The only issue I seem to be having is. when I'm on speaker phone or have it to my ear. and when i go to adjust the volume it doesn't change it. like i see the meter go up and down but the volume stays the same. its weird
I can confirm that after enabling voice activation for google now from any screen was the culprit of Mt audio issues. I was told I sounded far away or like a robot far away. Reset my device numerous times and reinstalled all apps and made calls. Once I enabled OK google from google now the issue came back. Disabled it and BOOM it worked fine. Haven't had an issue since.
So, I've found that in order to get notifications from Gmail as they come in (I have to have this for my job), it cannot be added to data saver, and it cannot be optimized in battery settings. So, I set it up this way on my new phone, only to get a notification saying Gmail is using battery pretty much every single time an email comes through, sometimes even when none do... If I optimize it, my notifications stop until I hit the power button or unlock the phone (usually).
I cannot seem to figure out how to stop this stupid popup from happening. Anyone else getting this? Anyone know how to make it go away? It's driving me crazy...
Install this app. It's been working fine for me on my pixel 2 xl and previously worked on my 6P after installing 8.0.

Sweet, thanks! Is there a reason why the Pixel does this? My s7 edge did not. I'm assuming it is something Sammy turned off, or maybe it's Oreo.

It started with Oreo.
This was happening on my XL 2 as well, but all it took was catching one of the notifications, sliding to the right and selecting the settings icon, then turning off notifications. I have not seen one pop up since, and my Exchange emails are still coming through fine.
I've been having issues with touch responsiveness off and on for the last two weeks or so, and I'm wondering if somehow the last security patch could have caused it. Like, I will be typing with the swipe and it will stop halfway through a word and spit out random stuff, or sometimes I have to pull a few times to bring down my notification bar
Everything's ok for me. Are you using a glass protector?
No such issue here either, I don't use a screen protection.

I'm having the same issue. And of course, it's not doing it now as i swipe. Happens more when i type.

I have noticed something similar. My issues has been like this since I got the phone and upgraded to 8.1. I heard of others also making this complaint after the fist update to 8.1.
For me... When I try to silence a call it will not let me swipe down on the end button. Unlocking can also be a challenge.

I use a pattern and sometimes getting to that can be an issue.
The only problem I've noticed, and I'm not positive this is from the OTA, my Gear S3 stopped vibrating and showing notifications from Android Messages. It was literally the day or the day after I took the OTA. But, who knows. All other SMS apps seem to work fine though.
I still haven't unlocked and rooted mine yet, so I'm hoping by doing so maybe this issue will disappear. Lol at least it doesn't seem to be just me. Though I'm glad to have this issue and not one of the other, worse issues I've heard of people having ?
I'm unlocked with root...
I have screen touch issues. Answering or declining a call is frustrating.
I get it still when I try to swipe away a notification or if i'm pulling down the Notification shade to access the quick toggles, it goes up and i gotta pull it down like 4 times to get it to stay
Yeah I've noticed this as well, have issues answering and rejecting calls and typing on the phone the touch screen responsiveness is off. Hopefully they fix this and the battery drain issue in the March update, because you know we wont get an update before March 5th lol. Also noticed my Gear S3 doesn't receive notifications properly anymore, tried factory resetting the watch and the phone and no resolution unfortunately.
I noticed this both on factory 8.1 image AND on DU RC22 Rom.
Once in a great while, usually when playing a game, I have to tap twice to get a recognized touch, especially near the edges.
So I have an interesting problem. Whenever I use voice button on gboard, (on my 9 pro) intermittently, it won't recognize my voice unless I speak INCREDIBLY loudly. It's incredibly annoying because I'll be speaking a paragraph, and it just stops randomly recording midway through it.
My theory is that it might be a microphone volume problem. I've come to this conclusion because I have an S21 ultra, and it NEVER ever does that. On my Ultra, it picks up my voice smoothly throughout the entire paragraph.
I've tried normal gboard and gboard beta. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a way to fix?
(I've checked everything. I have background data on, and set the battery to 'not optimize'. I don't have any special battery saving apps that could be causing issues. Usage access and all relevant permissions has been granted for voice dictation).
Working just fine

Say two paragraphs, with about a 4 second pause in between. Please make a video and upload here so I can see. Hitting the voice button multiple times is okay.
I tried this and for me it is working with normal pauses. I am not gonna make a video, sorry.

I'm sorry I'm having trouble believing you. (I don't mean that in a bad way)
Are you rooted, do you have any audio mods?
I am rooted and have no audio mods.
If you do not believe me that is fine.
Maybe someone else can test it for you.
I never use this function, but today I have tried it specifically for you.
Talked around 3 -4 minutes and it was dictating just fine. When I was finished talking I noticed that the keyboard was still listening for quite some time.
Maybe my voice is a little bit louder, but I did not have to raise my voice.
On OP9, happens to me but when it does it will type out the first word and then it will stop recording. Not sure why it does this

This is EXACTLY what I was talking about. It does this to me constantly.
This never happens to me on my S21 ultra.
I'm wondering if there's a way to increase microphone volume for voice dictation.
Does anybody know an ADB command to accomplish this?

Same issue here. It doesn't happen always, but it happens frequently enough to be annoying. Just the first word and then it stops.
Mine does the same thing. Super annoying.

I'm full stock as well. No unlocked bootloader prior or root and still have the same issue,
I am not entirely sure if I'm tripping, but I seem to be missing phone calls pretty damn often. I think I recall at one point I randomly grabbed my phone to have it by me and noticed that someone was calling me but it wasn't ringing at all, though the screen did light up. I made sure my settings do have have "Do Not Disturb" mode on. I have the CPH2451 and running stock with latest OTA A.10 update. After doing a brief Google search, I see that OnePlus has had issues in the past but those are from the OnePlus3 and OnePlusNord so I am not sure if that's still relevant in this day and age.
Anyone experiencing something similar or have any clues as to what might be going on?
Edited: Fat fingered the model #. Fixed.

This might be obvious to you, so just ignore if you know this.
When holding your phone in your hand like you're texting in portrait mode, there's a switch top right and on side of phone.
Adjust the switch so it's down.
Ive experienced this, even after swapping to 2449.
Seems theres a couple settings that revert on reboots for some odd reason.
Just go into the phone app settings, notifications and reset thr ring tone and all set after 2 times doing it ... annoying?? damn right!... but at least its fixable ....

That's so dumb... The more I use this phone, the more I get buyer's remorse.
I haven't restarted my phone since I got it I think but I'll try that and see if the issue persists. Thanks!
Edit: Any word if OnePlus is aware of this and plans on fixing it? If not, perhaps I should forward this to them.

don't know if they are aware. just to add to the weirdness of it... for me... after the second time, the setting sticks...
i have this problem with my 8 pro, the phone doesn't ring and i think it goes straight to VM? seems like something broke with one of the latest OP updates?
There's no such version as CPH2541.
And here it works perfectly. Factory reset and try again.
