I'm guessing it's the sensor that recognizes if it's up to your face or not but does anyone know what I messed up?

This has happened several times. I'll be on a call and when I hear the caller ID beep, I'll pull the phone away from my face and the screen does not light up. The touch buttons on the bottom light up. Also I have no screen protector to mess with e proximity sensor. The proximity sensor work great the reset of the time. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hello!
After I got my phone back from repair with new screen and motherboard i have got this annoying problem when taking calls, screen goes on and off, sometimes stays off when I try rotate it during a call.
Any ideas?
The phone using proximity sensor to detect your face, for the case if anything get cover/near the sensor (under 9cm; located left to the htc logo) during call the screen will turn off and disable touch screen too. This meant to avoid user accidentaly ends the call. Please note that there is also a 0.5-1.0 second delayed for the screen to turn on/off based on the sensor.
If you phone's problem is on the case, then it is nothing to wrong.. else please elaborate briefly on the issue..
So I just happened to notice that the sensor blinks on and off rapidly because I was using my webcams mirror mode and saw it flashing (invisible to the human eye). I cant help but wonder why on earth it is active while the screen is locked? Any thoughts? Or anybody actually know why?
Because it is used as a proximity sensor: the phone senses when it is in your pocket or not so it can change the ring tone volume. I think it is also used as a "mute" sensor when you lay your phone screen down on the table but I am not sure of that.
Hey guys,
i have a problem with (i guess) a proximity sensor setting or something?
when i make a call, and place the phone to my ear, the screen won't turn off \ go black.
Someone knows how to resolve this?
I've tried calibrating and cleaning the proximity sensor, that didnt work.
i think the sensor itself is fine, because it does auto rotates the screen when i rotate the phone
Thanks
OK, restart solved it :|
thanks
