[Recovery][N8000/N801x/N8020] TWRP 3.3.1-0 - Galaxy Note 10.1 Original Development

To make this a little bit more visible for people not interested in my LOS thread but who still want to install the greatest recovery of them all, I'll post this in this separate thread for you.
What is TWRP?
TWRP is a custom recovery that enables you to backup and restore your device partitions, flash Custom ROMs, copy files from your internal storage, sideload stuff to your device and do many more amazing things. For more info visit their website.
A word of warning
The provided files are currently in beta and not fully tested!
My initial tests yielded positive results for a lot of the functions but I may have overlooked something and it may collapse on you. Don't blame me. Only use this if you have access to a computer with Odin to fix your recovery in case anything goes terribly wrong!
Please report any bugs in this thread and I'll try to fix them (or I'll relay them to the great people working on TWRP if I cannot do this).

The IMG file can be used to upgrade TWRP from an already installed older version, the TAR.MD5 file is for new installations and can be flashed via Odin. Please use the current TWRP from Lirokoa and use the Install Image button to update the recovery to this version. I need to figure out why the build is screwing up the TAR files.

I'd really appreciate your feedback, positive as well as negative, so that I can get a feeling for whether someone is actually using it and whether this is working. There have to be at least some of you who installed it after 700+ downloads. I want to have a good feeling before handing it over to the people at TWRP so that it can be officially downloaded from their website.

I did once gave a positive feedback pertaining to this latest version of twrp!! Its 150% fully working on my side, using a N8000!?

Thank you for all your work. Everything you do is at a level of excellence that I've only seen from the very best developers here on xda! I'm using your recovery on my N8013 and it works flawlessly.

Downloading and testing. I will give feedback ASAP.

Testing went fine. Everything works. But I noticed somethings are small. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like that?

Yes there is an issue with the rotation. Currently TWRP thinks that it is in portrait mode. It's already on my todo list.

I updated the version. Build N2 fixes the layout problem.

I've tried both Odin 3.13.1 and 3.09 with both versions (N1 & N2) of the TAR.MD5 file for my N8000 but I never get any further than the MD5 check. All I receive when I tryy to load the file using the button AP in Odin is: "MD5 error! Binary is invalid"
I have used the Duth file mirrors and also the Canadian file server. All files ends up with the same result. Any ideas on how to proceed please? Thanks!!

MD5 is a damaged file .

Change the extension name from MD5 to tar (just remove the MD5) in the file name. It should work.

Flashable file
Hi!
Firstly I would like to thank Don Carnage for great work in keeping this old tablet alive and running! My n8020 is stock recovery/stock rom rooted. Thing is, my usb port is not working and thus can't use odin. So I would need twrp.img-file that I can flash via terminal emulator. Could you provide it?

Nevermind, I bit the bullet and flashed the .img file that was meant for updating. Worked fine!

I use CWD, can I use odin to flash twrp over CWD without any issue?

CWD ??
TWRP can be flashed ok via recovert or Odin.

I think you'll have to flash it via Odin. I do have a copy of Odin that may work. Let me know if you need it.

That recovery is totally outdated and often does not work on latest rom builds .Nandroids may also fail .

Not sure whether this will work with CWM, you should use Odin/Heimdall instead.

New EURO Firmware - P1000XXJM6 - UPDATED

You are flashing the below at YOUR OWN RISK
This is only for the Euro version, at&t version, T-mobile version or any other GSM version of the Tab. this is NOT for any CDMA version.
This is a new Tab firmware that just leaked out (P1000XXJM6)
So far the know pros are:
1) THE BROWSER IF FINALLY FIXED! it is very smooth even with flash. i am very impressed.
2) Users are reporting new widgets.
3) The drop down drawer is smoother.
4) New readers hub
5) tweaked email client
6) better camera focus?
7) ROM feels very smooth.
Update 11/29/2010
This is an updated package which should be safer to flash via Odin.
All credits are going to Richthofen who compiled this package for us.
As it seems that original package posted in this thread was not intended to be flashed via Odin.
Samsung has introduced a new FW programming method which also supports the upcoming phones. I don´t know if it is already supported by the newest Kies version.
The new format is basically the same as Odin only smarter with a few tricks and more stable.
Richthofen has prepared a new package for us that is flashable via Odin and should work much better with less problems.
Below are the download links and instructions for everything you need to flash P1000XXJM6.
1) Download the the file HERE and extract the it
2) Inside the ZIP you will find Odin 1.7 + PIT file + PDA +Modem + CSC files.
3) Open Odin, select the PIT file + PDA + Modem + CSC into their respective places.
4) Make sure repartition is CHECKED.
5) put the phone in download mode and connect it to your computer. start flashing.
6) The device will reboot. If you are getting tons of FC's on boot, reboot into recovery and do a factory reset.
Done.
** You can root using SuperOneClick method. Other methods do not work at this time.
**If you are on at&t and using the at&t model, please reflash the Bell modem to gain 850Mhz back.
clubtech said:
Please be advised that i have not yet tested this firmware so i don't know if it works and i am not responsible if it bricks your Tab!!!
The brave ones are welcome to try and report back.
It was originally labeled as P1000XXJM9 on the Samsung FUS server however it looks like it is P1000XXJM6.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/OO6CWYBQYN
Release date: 11/25/2010
Flash: latest Odin with no repartition (as this does not look like it is a full flash). No PIT file needed as it is not a full flash.

Ok,
Got the latest version installed by flashing the latest update with odin, then flashing dbdata.rfs afterwards....
only thing is, it's now causing launcherpro and other apps to force close, so I'm going to re-flash JJ4 / JK5 clean then re-apply this update.

[Firmware][4.4.2] NE4/NE6/NF2/NH2 Recovery Flashable Firmware

Links removed while investigating the cause of a couple of bricks. Sorry, but don't want to have any more of these happen!
I747 and I747M 4.4.2 Firmware
NE4 / NE6 / NF2 / NH2
For use with TWRP, CWM or Philz Recoveries
The following packages will flash the base 4.4.2 firmware to your device. This can be used to update to the latest build, or in the event that you need to reflash it for whatever reason. The following partitions will be flashed:
aboot - AP Bootloader
NON-HLOS - Modem/Baseband
rpm - Resource and Power Management
sbl2 - Secondary Bootloader 2
sbl3 - Secondary Bootloader 3
tz - Trust Zone
This will NOT flash the system, cache, recovery or boot (kernel) partitions, so it will preserve your current Rom, Recovery and Kernel. There is no requirement that you be on a certain build prior to flashing this, though I will not make any guarantees you will not encounter some issues if making a large jump in versions, such as going from 4.0.4 or 4.1.1 straight to 4.4.2. It should be fine, but I'm just not making any promises.
General Disclaimer
As with everything you use here on XDA, you use this at your own risk. I would not release this if I felt it were unsafe, but things do go wrong, even with fully tested and vetted projects.
How It Works
Flash in the custom recovery of your choice. (Initially tested on TWRP 2.8.0.1)
Once the flash is initiated, it will run the "assert" checks we should all be getting used to by now. This is to prevent downgrading and bricking your device!
Next, each of the firmware files are checked for any corruption using the sha1 checksum. If it fails any of these checks the flash will abort without actually flashing anything.
After passing these checks, the flashing begins! The modem is flashed last! This is in case anything goes wrong, there is no way to end up with a 4.4.2 modem on 4.3 bootloaders!
Once complete, reboot and you are done!
I747M Unified Packages"One Package To Rule Them All!"
You may notice that each I747M build is for each of its relevant carriers, rather than having individual packages for every build, every carrier. While rebuilding these packages, I noticed that they are identical regardless of the carrier. For example, the base firmware in Bell's NE6 is identical to Koodoo's, Sasktel's and Telus'. The same is true for both NF2 and NH2! So we only need one flashable zip for each version! In other words... One Package To Rule Them All!!
REMEMBER!!!Once you update, there is no going back! You cannot flash older firmware, so once you flash to 4.4.2, that is the only firmware you can flash from now on!

DLed multiple times, checked the Md5 on my PC and the phone. Can't get the log as a file, this device has been hell. Koodo is an awful company, I've gotten two phones from them and they've both had countless hardware issues and incompatibilities with otherwise standard files, I don't know if they pay discount for Samsung's dropped merchandise or what. TWRP doesn't work at all, only CWM, when I boot TWRP it just can't find any storage medium whatsoever.
Anyway, all it says when I show it is that it verifies the checksum, finds corruption, and aborts. There's a bit below it as well, copied everything meaningful:
minzip: extracted "/tmp/sb12.mbn",
minzip: extracted "/tmp/sb13.mbn",
minzip: extracted "/tmp/tz.mbn"
verifying checksums...
FILE CORRUPTION DETECTED!!! Script result was [7]
aborting
cleaning up
Ok, ill double check it shortly. I know in twrp's advanced menu there is an option to copy log to sd. Are you sure cwm doesnt have the same? Id be surprised if it didnt.
Sorry for the trouble though. It is possible i made a simple mistake somewhere. If so i will find and fix it.
Everything checks out so far on my end. Im downloading the firmware again in case something went wrong there.
In the meantime, what recovery are you using? Maybe try using a different one ir a different version?
Ok, ive checked everything on the Koodoo firmware and i couldnt find anything wrong. Picked it apart twice, re-downloaded the original firmware and checked that nothing was corrupt. Other than the recovery, i cant think of any other reason itd be failing like that.
Might be best for you to flash the full firmware with odin if using a different recovery doesnt work.

No, TWRP doesn't work AT ALL for me. It can't even locate my internal SD.
CWM 6.0.4.7 is all I've tried with.
I dont use cwm so im not sure about the version right off hand. If thats the latest, try a slightly older one, or if its older try the latest.
I got file corruption error in at&t i747. Did not tried to flash again. Using latest twrp recovery.

Just a heads-up for anyone having trouble flashing any of these. I tried several times and re-downloaded the modem and the full firmware. They failed multiple times in multiple versions of odin(for me). I gave up on the modem but kept working on the full and it finally took but I was stuck at t-mo boot screen more than once and it wouldn't fully boot. Finally I flashed the newest twrp before taking any other measures and it finally booted.

In case it gets stuck at T-Mobile boot screen after successful firmware flash, just hold the power button till your device turns off,
Then go into stock recovery by using power+home+volume up button and do a factory reset.
It should boot fine.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to list that I did that also. For me at least this S4 was very stubborn to take on this flash. I was mostly posting so if anyone else ran into this so they wouldn't panic. All is well now though. It came around eventually.:good:
I searched this out because I'm looking for a Stagefright fix for the S4 (my wife's phone). It looks like the other ROMs were last updated prior to Stagefright, so I expect they are not fixed. However, I'm OK with stock as long as it is rooted.
Are there any issues with rooting? I read in this article that T-Mobile put a SetUID restriction on the kernel and the normal process for TWRP and SuperSU doesn't work.
The author was writing about the UVUAMDL firmware, and offers a link to download a patched MDL kernel with the restriction removed.
Since this thread is about the UVUFOK3 (a later version), it seems likely that the SetUID restriction still exists. However the article also says "MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON UVUAMDL build OTHERWISE THIS KERNEL WILL BREAK THINGS IN YOUR PHONE!" So does that mean "UVUAMDL only - nothing newer or later" or "UVUAMDL or later"? No way to know since the article has not been updated since UVUAMDL.
Has any one successfully rooted the S4 after installing this firmware? (M919UVUFOK3_M919TMBFOK3_TMB)
Is the kernel provided in M919UVUFOK3_Stock_Kernel.zip already "fixed" to remove the root restriction?

I don't know about the restriction you talking about but I have successfully flashed a custom ROM on latest OK3 firmware.

Nothing is modified as it is a stock package, stock kernel is only required if you flash some custom kernel and wanted to go back to stock by just installing the kernel instead of full ODIN.
This is what I always use to root:
1) Install latest TWRP via ODIN
2) Boot into recovery
3) Flash latest SuperSU zip using TWRP.

So it should be a fairly straightforward process? The issues technut experienced are unusual? Has anyone else installed and rooted using this ROM? Please report on how it went.

a103, when you say "flashed a custom ROM", do you mean a different ROM than the one in the OP of this thread? (since this one isn't really custom) If a different ROM, which did you flash? I didn't find many options that contained the OK3 firmware.

The phone currently is running Wicked V8 custom ROM, so I think I need to flash everything. What are the steps for updating all three; firmware, kernel, and modem? Is there a particular order to flash them in Odin?
I read in another place that the firmware contains the Modem so I wouldn't need to flash the modem in addition to the full firmware (M919UVUFOK3_M919TMBFOK3_TMB.zip). Is that true in this case? Does it include both modem and kernel?
Edit - After searching out how to open tar.md5 files I can now see that the full firmware does include the kernel and modem files. So installing that one should sufficient to update everything.

a103, did you have any of the problems reported by technut above? Was it a smooth process of flashing?
Here's what I think has been said:
0) Before starting - copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip, Titanium Backup APK, and Titanium Backup data onto ExtSD card.
1) start phone into download mode, Use ODIN to flash M919UVUFOK3_M919TMBFOK3_M919UVUFOK3_HOME.tar.md5
2) restart into stock, let it stabilize.
If any problems or stuck on Tmo screen, restart into stock recovery and do factory reset
3) once booted into stock FW, power off.
4) restart into download mode, use Odin to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-jfltetmo.tar
5) boot into TWRP
6) install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
7) reboot into Android - phone is now rooted again and ready to go.
8) restore user apps (not system apps or data) from TiBu, restore TiBu XML data for SMS and call logs, etc.

[GUIDE] Links for Files - Update, Root and Restore (UPDATED TO QK1)

QK1 TAR File: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329068925
Prior version if needed:
QJ1 TAR File: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620769224
HOW TO ROOT USING MAGISK:
Flash stock with Odin. The latest build is posted above. Reboot and complete setting up the phone.
Download Magisk Zip and Magisk Manager APK (these are two different things, you need both) and place them on your phone. Download from https://magiskmanager.com/
Do the usual to enable Developer Options (tap on build number until you see it enabled) and set OEM Unlock ot on (this is a setting under developer options.) Make sure you do these steps.
Go into Download mode. Turn phone off. Hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. We'll do something similar in a minute.
Flash TWRP via Odin, but DO NOT REBOOT. TWRP is here, use the TAR file. https://dl.twrp.me/zerofltespr/
Manually Power phone down by holding the Power button a really long time.
Manually boot into Recovery. Hold Volume Up, Home and Power. You should now be in TWRP.
Use TWRP to flash the Magisk zip file. When you reboot, you should be rooted.
Reboot and install the Magisk APK. Allow "Unknown sources."
You can still root your phone using SuperSU, but I am not supporting that.
thank you for your link.

But I am glad that you pointed that out.

Could you post any feedback that you might have on PD2 itself? Worth bothering with, or just a minor security thing?

Twrp and supersu 2.71 work for me.
Nothing noticeable between pd2 and pb6 actually so if you are still good on pb6, let it stay there.
BTW i get good battery life on pd2 as you can see my attached SS. Will pass 5 hrs sot easily, even more.

S7 Active AT&T - Oreo

Does anyone have an idea when the S7 active potentially might see Oreo via OTA update?
Is it hard to install on your own via root or whatever?
Thanks.

you can already use stock recovery to flash it... Just make sure you flash the previous OTA updates until BRB5 are the last 4 characters of your baseband in settings -> about -> software info
I'm running the first oreo listed on that link on my S7 Active, not sure if the others will work, but once you are on BRB5, just copy the oreo zip to the root of your MICRO SD card, reboot into stock recovery, select install zip from sd card, and select the file... to do this, you cannot be rooted, if your system status shows as custom, flash nougat with odin... if you need it the odin files as well asall previous OTA updates are listed in the website as well. Just remove /OTA/Oreo from the end of the url
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/gKs4xzhRE/OTA/Oreo/
let me know how it goes, i'm happy with it, it has the S8 style launcher and app icons, and the new AOD, but unfortunately, no live infinity wallpapers :/

There is no s7 active oreo rom in ODIN flashable format available yet, but you can update by flashing nougat, and flashing two ota flashable zip files in stock recovery. If you go to this website, and click the blue download button, you can extract the downloaded file with 7zip, or winrar, and flash the md5 files in ODIN, and you will then be on stock android nougat. You can then copy this zip file to your phone's external micro sd card, without extracting it, and use stock recovery mode (turn off, then volume up + home + power) to "apply update from sd card", or if you don't have a micro sd card, click "apply update from adb" and look up "how to use adb sideload" on google. Once it's done updating, do the same thing with this zip file, using stock recovery and "apply update from sd card" or using "apply update from ADB", and you will be on android 8.0 oreo. you can always use the first file you downloaded to go back to stock nougat if you don't like oreo, but it's working great for me!

It should work, make sure you have the usb drivers installed, the LATEST VERSION of odin (older versions may get stuck), and make sure your phone is in download mode (hold down power + volume down + home until a blue screen appears. click volume up). Then, open odin, connect your phone, and add the four .tar.md5 files extracted from the link you quoted. It works for me, but if it doesn't, try this file instead. let me know how it goes

Oh, i see. You're on bootloader version 3. In that case, there is most likely nothing you can do to fix the phone. Just wait patiently for an odin flashable version of oreo for the s7 active, which should have bootloader 3 out of the box, and that should work. At this point, it is simply a waiting game. I really can't do anything for you, wish I could, but I unfortunately do not have the knowledge to modify bootloader versions yet. So, patience is key. Cheers!

actually, has anyone confirmed if unlocking the aboot allows bootloader downgrades on the s7 active? i also found this on the download site: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/gKs4xzhRE/root/unlockg891aboot.tar
Try flashing this in the AP slot in odin to unlock the aboot partition, then flash the nougat from the link i gave before, using just the AP file from the firmware in the AP slot, and don't use the BL, CP, OR CSC slots

i realize now that the issue with my idea is... root... root is not achieved on oreo yet... and the firmware.mobi website upload to dropbox doesn't work, just refreshes after clicking start upload. So i'm stuck. But, if somebody could provide an image i could flash to root oreo on the s7 active, i will be able to make an odin .tar.md5
but i can not without root :/
One other thing you could try is extracting the ota zip for oreo you previously had, take the boot.img from it, compress the boot.img into a tar file, and then try flashing that with odin, in the AP slot. let me know how it goes, my phone is in a boot loop cause i tried an older root method :/
luckily, i used an earlier oreo OTA file, so i'm still on BL2

Ok, after lots of digging through the ota zip, i believe i may have one step towards a solution.
But i need you to check it, as if it does work, it will update my phone to bootloader 3, which i would rather not do, since you already have bootloader 3, and it can't worsen the situation
now that i think about it, i could try flashing this on my currently installed marshmallow, after rooting, then try making the odin .tar.md5, but with the bootloader 3, so you can downgrade back to marshmallow. what do you think?
Try flashing the attached bootloader file, which i made for bootloader 3:
let me know if it works, thanks.. i might have a method for the system, too
EDIT NO STOP! i forgot a bin file, fixing now
EDIT 2 OK, SHOULD BE ALL GOOD NOW!
EDIT 3 I'M BRICKED NOW, but did see the new bootloader android logo at the bottom after flashing, then black screen qualcomm 9008
