I've been using the 5T for a while and I noticed that whenever I pull the phone out of my pocket and immediately press the power button to wake the screen, there would be a noticeable lag of about 1 second before the screen turns on. Sometimes, the screen doesn't even turn on. I suspect that this has to do with the light sensor as it only happens when I pull the phone out of my pocket and not when it is sitting on the table. Does anyone have any solution to this?

Hello,
Loving my desire but this problem is really annoying,
Every time I take the phone out of my pocket it's slide the phone upwards so the call is being dismissed.
Any chance I can change that?
I'm running a rooted phone.
Thanks.
I agree on this, It's quite annoying.
I've seen some apps that change the lockscreen, but most of them consume memory and/or a lot of battery power. A free app would be preferred.
why isnt your screen off? when you go to put the desire in your pocket press the power button on the device quickly and it will turn your screen off and also lock it, there is no need to have the screen on whilst in your pocket is there? this is also power saving on your phone, hitting the power button again will then switch it to the lock screen once you have taken it out of your pocket.

This is when a call comes in. When a call comes on the phone wakes from sleep mode.
Hi all,
does anyone sometimes have to press the power button (when phone is completely turned off) twice (2 presses to turn on) sometimes?...
so just to confirm
- handset is off
- push power button once (sometimes doesnt come on
- push for second time (and powers up)
im defiantly pushing for long enough
iv have no issues with the button at all when in the UI or when locking/unlocking display
iv done a few tests where i have turned off. then went to switch on, with the same pressure and sometimes it starts with one, sometimes it starts with two presses,
do u think this is a fault? anyone experience this? normal?
just checking...
thanks heaps!
I had the opposite on my first one. When I pressed the power button to turn screen off, the screen went black for 1 sec and jumped back on lock screen.

I don't think many people would turn their phone completely off so haven't found the issue.
When you power off what will be happening is the phone is off as much as it can be, but these buttons are soft off, the battery is still connected and some power must be drawn to run the power circuitry to detect the button being pressed again to signal to power back up the phone, in the same way when you turn your TV off by the remote, power is still drawn to run the remote sensor on the TV.
To keep the drain on the battery as low as possible so the battery isn't completely discharged over months of storage I suspect the power chip waiting for the on signal again is only sampling every so often to save power so it can be in super deep sleep state. This means depending on where in this cycle you are when you press the power button it might seem like it isn't responding, so typically you have to leave it depressed long enough for it to be "seen".
The better option is to just to put your phone into flight mode if you don't want to be disturbed or want the phone off. I do this overnight and lose no battery power by the morning, so it is as good as off. You can add a button to your home screen to do this quickly, widgets are included already for that.
Regards
Phil
Mine does the same thing.. Sometimes it does it with waking up from sleep also.

Can anyone unlock the phone using home button ?
it only works with the power button for me. The home button works when the screen is on but not when , the screen is turned off the phone flashes for brief second then screen goes off, i noticed this before i downgraded and after it has always been like this, its like I am double tapping it when I am not . I get the same response if i double tap the power button
Just to be clear. Are you asking if the screen turns on and stays on after pressing the Home button while the screen is turned off?
I'm on unlocked 3.6.8 and if my screen is off, I can press the home button and the screen turns on (still have to slide to unlock or enter PIN). However, the screen does stay on for a period of time and I can sit and look at the lock screen, view the dynamic perspective on it, etc until the timer eventually shuts the screen off again.
If the sensor located below the front camera is covered up with a screen protector or anything else then you can have problems turning the phone on with the home button or the camera button.
All screen protectors with a hole for the sensor should work on the phone. Screen protectors without a hole for the sensor may or may not work. My screen protector doesn't have a hole for the sensor but I don't have a problem turning the phone on with the home button. But if I cover the sensor with my thumb I can not turn my phone on with the home button.
Been starting to experience poor response to my power button waking the phone and also on turning the screen off. I thought maybe it was sticking and had buildup around it. I removed the screen and tried my best to clean out around and behind the button. Did not notice any improvement. Often times it registers like a long hold and prompts the shut-down restart screen.
Are others experiencing or had similar response? Are these buttons replaceable?
Don't know about replaceability, but I rarely ever used my power button. You can work around it in daily use using the FP sensor for both screen on and screen off.

Hi all,
Problem: When the phone is turned on, locking the screen works beautifully. Once the display turns off, pressing the power button doesn't do anything... for about a minute. Then the display wakes up and everything is fine again. It doesn't sound like a hardware issue, as the power button works in recovery, and to lock the screen. The screen turns on instantly in recovery and when powering on the phone, so I don't think it's the screen's problem either.
Does anyone have any ideas to fix this problem? Thanks!
