Volte on Sprint - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Has anyone found a way to activate Volte on Sprint network with Pixel 2 XL?
I just moved from AT&T to Sprint. I didn't realize how big of a problem it is going to be to not have data and call working at the same time.

I don't think so. I've been on Sprint since forever so I'm relatively used to not having data while on calls (which is rare for me) but it does suck when you need it.

Notice any differences now that verizon Pixel xl is provisioned for AT&T?

So i just got a phone call from AT&T network support. Talked with an awesome guy by the name of Dustin. Anyway, he said that the verizon pixel xl is now officially provisioned on the AT&T network.
So my question to anyone who had issues with LTE or Volte or anything like that who has a Verizon Pixel is whether or not you notice any differences now?

I have a Pixel XL from the Google store that I've been using on AT&T since the 22nd. Didn't receive any type of phone call about this..

I have no issues using my Google Store Pixel XL on At&t. I didn't even tell them that I got a new phone. I do not have WiFi calling but I am not super worried about it since minutes are free.

I don't have any issues either, but I would love to have VoLTE and HD Voice.

I spoke with a rep at At&t and they mentioned that they are going to allow non-at&t branded devices to have HD calling and Wifi calling no later than spring 2017. We will see if that actually comes true, but here's to wishful thinking.

Oh man let's hope. Assuming you are with AT&T, do you know if I need to add HD Voice and VoLTE to my mobile plan? I can see it on the features page on their site but haven't noticed an option to add it to my account.

my understanding is that it would be baked into an update and then we would just need to select that option under network preferences. Not totally sure, but I would guess At&t will give Google the information to get it working on the device. I am no expert though.

I think you're correct. My mom has an iPhone 6S Plus and I was able to enable VoLTE through the Settings app.

pixel 2xl on t-mobile

I have a question for anyone using the pixel 2 xl on T-mobile.
Does WiFi calling work and is how call quality, etc on WiFi calling?
I switched from Verizon recently and was thinking of getting the Pixel 2 xl to replace my old Moto x Pure. I need WiFi calling though because I don't get very good signal where I work.
Thanks!

Sprint Calling Plus

I've recently activated my Google Pixel 2 XL on Sprint and I was wondering if there was anyway to active Sprint calling Plus ( talking with data at same time) like on the Galaxy S8. Also the WiFi calling option is invisible. Did some reading and it appears that a Sprint sim deactivates the option. It's unfortunate that Sprint doesn't seem to care about people bringing their own devices. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Same here. Huge disappointment. Been with Sprint since they started and want to use my new Pixel 2 XL but found out it's handicapped at Sprint. Here's what's on the Sprint fact sheet for our phone:
Capabilities of the Pixel II XL
Calling Plus: No
•DSU: Yes
•HD Voice: Yes
•HPUE: Yes
•Visual Voicemail: No
•Voice Call Continuity: No
•Voice Roaming: Yes
•Wi-Fi Calling: No
•Wireless Data Roaming: Yes
*LTE Plus does not support talking and surfing the Web at the same time unless also connected to Wi-Fi.
I brought my Moto X PE to Sprint 2 years ago and have been without these important features for too long. I think, though a little more expensive, Project Fi is in our future. I'm going to try it over the next month. Apparently you can switch between carriers with the eSIM and Fi app.
C'mon Sprint, support the Pixels!

Thanks for the info man. Yea it's super depressing how Sprint handicaps this phone. Just the thought that I could put in a different Sim from another carrier and get those features bugs me lol.
How does sprint do it for the S8? I thought VoLTE required a network upgrade on their part which would therefore make it available to all phones
I found a way to make VoLTE calling work on my unlocked s8 plus may be it helps on pixel too
1. In Nova launcher add widget -> Activities (add LTE test and enhanced lte services)
2. Add LTE Test -> click VoLTE Test UI-> turn on first 2 setting.
3. Add Enhanced LTE Services and select this option.
4. Restart
Unfortunately don't see anything like those settings on my Sprint 2XL. I even tried the directions in this Note 8 thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/voltecalling-plus-sprint-note-8-t3696341

ATT Wifi Calling on Pixel 3 XL...shouldn't we be able to enable it on the 2/XL?

Someone has confirmed wifi calling working on the 3 XL on ATT, if that's true shouldn't we be able to get it working on the 2/XL? Is it IMEI related? Even if so, if I were on a rom that had wifi calling and swapped a sim in it from a Note 9 or something it would work at least until the system detects the imei and updates it, which isn't always the case or all that fast to happen.
Sounds like a carrier issue.
I think it's garbage that At&t ran this whole campaign "Google Pixel works on At&t" yet they won't release all their features to the users. I had to beg them for HD calling. Finally after a week they activated it. This stuff should be automatic and available to everyone. I pay the same amount as an iPhone user
This has me sitting with mixed feelings. I have really bad AT&T reception in my basement and really need WiFi calling. I don't want to spend so much money upgrading from a 2 XL to 3 just for this though.. (granted, I like the non-XL 3 form factor better..)
Seems like poor customer perception to enable this finally on the 3 phones when the 1 and 2 fully support this other than AT&T flipping a switch on the other end. I'm glad they finally are allowing the 3s.. but..

Three Firmware?

Hi, would anyone have the Three UK firmware for a Pixel 2 XL? I have no wifi calling and Three state it is because i bought it from Sony unlocked and not from them. Therefore they can not allow WiFi calling. The only way is to buy a new phone from them!!
Thanks in advance.
I also have a Sony XZ1 with the same issue and i am posting in that forum aswwell, so whatever one i can get the firmware for is the one i will use until i get the new 4XL on a Black friday deal hopefully.
Roy.
have you tried a friend's sim in your phone. Ee support WiFi calling.
Is the option there in your phone to turn on WiFi calling ?

Hi,
No, not yet, but when i updated my Pixel 2 xL to A10 few weeks ago and noticed that I can no longer enable Wifi Calling. To verify I dialed "*#*#4636#*#*" and Wifi calling is not provisioned, neither is VolLTE (greyed out) same with the Sony XZ1.
Try a different sim. I think the issue is actually 3 or sim. Generally pixel phones don't come with a custom firmware. It's not customised by the phone provider unlike other brands.
Other thing I'd check is router settings

Apologies for the resurrection. My Pixel 2XL also won't do wifi calling on Three, yet my wife's Pixel 3A on the same network works quite happily. What gives? Both phones were bought SIM free from Google.
Thanks...

I'm having exactly the same issue. My Three UK Pixel 2 XL (running stock Android 10) can't access wi-fi calling, but I was able to activate it yesterday on my wife's Pixel 3a XL (also on Three UK) without issues. The Wifi calling option simply isn't there on my device.. Is there anything fundamentally different between the two devices which would prevent me from activating it?
