I'm posting a screenshot of what I'm asking about. What is it that allows options like these seen at the top to be available in some ROMs but not others???
I've asked this before in the past but now I can show exactly what I'm talking about.
Is this a modded apk or something else??
I want these options to be available on Stock.... that's my motivation for asking.

There used to be a call block/spam feature in the stock phone app. I used to mark numbers all the time by long pressing the missed call then tapping the option but I think I lost it many months ago. Maybe 6+ months now.

That's still there, no matter the ROM....for me anyway. The ones I mentioned above are additional and VERY useful blocking options.
I've been on AOSPEx specifically because these options are available.

Gotcha. That stinks. At least you don't know what you are missing. That makes it worse. It's handy but not totally necessary.

I would also greatly appreciate getting those blocking options in the stock dialer. IDK why Google hasn't implemented it.
Been looking and not found an answer myself.
Anyone know what is required? (running newest version as of April 15 2019 of contacts.apk)
perhaps some one who has it can confirm ver of contacts and phone apks?

How does it work, can you block anyone that is not in your contacts, or is it only known spammers?
I have a second 2 XL that I picked up on Swappa, I installed Q. It looks like it solves the problem of call blocking. :good:

I just tap the recent call, can be in contacts or not, and there's a block/spam report.

@djcrystals or anyone else did figure out what it takes to get the other options besides just block/report spam?
Limiting calls to the contacts or blocking unlisted or private numbers is really what I am after. Don't mind payphone calls cause figure it's got to be real important if you gonna call from one of them.

It's a Commit that has to be baked into a rom. I've been Testing builds for AquariOS. They will be implementing it soon. AOSiP and AEX already have it and so does Android Q Beta.....it's making it's way around. It's gotta be baked in though....that's all I've been able to find out.

Thank you. I have a Pixel not the XL, so the AquariOS and such I can't use sure to build. You are saying that the Android Q Beta builds have it? Perhaps someone who is way smarter then I can come up with a patch one could use in TWRP.

I don't think it'll be long before it starts to spread to other ROMs....the fellas at AquariOS didn't even know about it. They started to cook it in as soon as I brought it up in a Telegram chat. BenzoROM doesn't have it? That ROM was available for a time being on the 3XL....I thought I remember that ROM having it....I dunno....been awhile...

Yes it has all of the options. Fahrbot Developer of RCB told me a few months ago that some awesome blocking features were coming to Android, that is why he had to let his app demise as Google would not allow it to work any more.

hi all, first off, anyone know why the Illusion ROM thread was closed?
second, i love this ROM. i really do. it's the first and only ROM other than stock TW that i've kept on my Galaxy S III for a month or more. for some reason, i just can't stand the other AOSP/AOKP/PA ROMs. not that they're bad or anything, but this ROM has something in it that just makes me love it. it grows on me.
anyways, my question is, the ROM runs great, no issues at all but...vibration.
i already turned off all the vibrations in stuff like Facebook/Messenger/Instagram etc etc, but my phone still vibrates anyways? is there another thing i forgot to turn off, or is there no fix?

Closed because the dev is no longer supporting it. Once that happens 90% of posts become eta, and why no updates, type questions. That's my best guess anyway. He's working on other roms now anyway.
As for vibration, no idea. Might help if you tell us when it's vibrating. When it rings? Sms? Random? Keyboard?
Otherwise all anyone can probably tell you is turn.it off in the roms settings menu. Personally, I don't use cm type roms, so I probably wouldn't be much help here, but it may be why no one's answered.

whenever i get any type of notification (SMS, calls, FB posts, Instagram, Messenger, etc) it vibrates
oh...that sucks, Illusion is such a nice ROM too
Did you disable it in Settings? Under Sounds in TW.

He isn't working on other roms, he has a new born on the way and a career that is about to take off as well hopefully, android is last priority for now.

Are you sure? The rom has a lot of settings. I test the rom and a couple others and we all didn't have that issue, it's you. check your settings and make sure things are unchecked.

Yeah same here. I'm using Adguard for now. It works just as good as adaway but has to use a vpn.
the development section is where it will be posted - once it hits trust me it won't be hard to find

I haven't tried AdClear. I gave Block-This a shot but AdGuard is far better. At the moment I'm on Adguards 7 day premium trial. Not sure how much functionality will be lost with the free version. I'll wait and see but if root doesn't come soon I may spring for $24.00 subscription. I love to tweak almost everything but so far the only thing I've missed about not having root is adaway and AriseV4A.

I have a quick question to ask, I got a replacement pixel from google and now when I enroll my device into the program the update does not seem to roll through? It is a bit confusing because when I go to the beta website it shows 3 different pixel 2 xl phones to enroll and I don't know which one is the new device i am using now.
Any suggestions to get the update pushed through?

First reboot the phone. If that doesn't do it, delete the three from the site, reboot, re-enroll and it should get it. If not try downloading the image from Google and install it yourself. I waited too long to do the same.

Thank you for the reply, but I cannot seem to be able to delete the ones from the site. There is no option to remove them.
Are you using the mobile website? Try opting for the desktop version in your settings.

Btw, Android P still has a lot of bugs. If this is your primary phone I would think about it a little more. I reverted back Oreo because of too many glitches.

on pc, go to play store.
click on settings.
from the list of devices, untick the 'show in menus' for the ones you no longer have (most likely the ones with the oldest last used date).
If that doesnt fix it, rename them all to different names from the same place.
The OTA may not be pushing to your device since DP3 is about to come out this week, they may have stopped pushing DP2 to people who just enrolled in the meantime

I think that the omission of a scrolling screenshot is a bad move?
If you want that, buy a Samsung Do most people take that many screenshots where it is an inconvenience? That answer is no. In the last 6 months, if the feature was standard, I would have used it ONCE. It really isn't that big of feature.

Yes there is and I use it, not sure if there are more than one but I use "Screenshot Crop and Share" the UI is a little difficult to use at first but once you get used to it, it works nicely.

Yup. I use the scrolling screenshot on my Note 8 all the time. I think it should absolutely be standard. There's many Samsung features I wish stock Android would adopt (and it usually does), but I also like the vanilla Android experience and ability to try betas of new releases. It's why I just ordered a P2XL to go along with my N8. Best of both worlds, LOL.

Hey everyone, so I seem to be having a unique issue with Android Q. This has happened on beta 4 and now beta 5 as well. For some reason I cannot download anything, and I mean anything outside of the Google play store. I went back to an Android pie build after experiencing this on Android Q beta 4 and figured any issue like that would be resolved in beta 5 but here I am again 15 minutes after flashing and setting up beta 5 I have the exact same problem. I am rooted, with no magisk modules. That's actually how I discovered this problem is still affecting me, I went to download The busybox module in the magisk app, and I get "download failed" in the status bar every single time no matter what the circumstances are. I can't get a download to even start whether I'm on Wi-Fi or LTE, chrome even refuses to download. Weirdly, I can download any new app or update any previous app I want with no issues. I have changed no settings whatsoever so I'm stumped. I'm curious if anybody can help me troubleshoot this, as I'd like to finally get to try Android Q. Thanks for any help guys
I just tested a download on Chrome. Worked fine for me. Check your app permissions from settings. That's all I can think of.

Thanks for the response man, I actually just figured it out. For some reason, I was brain farting and installing a kernel completely meant for Pie. I actually just flashed the correct Q build of the kernel and it fixed everything. Thanks for the help though, I really appreciate it!

Hey I hear ya man! I always post the answers to my questions if I figure it out for that reason exactly. Can't tell you how many times I either see a thread with my exact problem with no solution posted, or I see 10 other threads asking how to solve a problem that I or another user has answered 5 other times. The search function is great for people that use it!
