g960usqs3brj6 FRP unlock - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Thread closed. FRP bypass instructions, and conversations are not permitted in Xda.
Hi all, I've been following threads on how to do this, and I'm a bit of a n00b. I think the only piece i'm missing is the combination firmware for my model. I ahve the G960USQS3BRJ6_G960UOYN3BRJ6_VZW.zip, which I believe is the stock firmware. Any thoughts on where to get a compatible combination firmware for the initial Odin flash? I'm not sure if I can just use any G960U, or if it has to bee bootloader 3, or what. Thanks!

Can I unlock the Froyo bootloader and root?

Hi Guys, After research I found conflicting answers, so created the thread.
My friend received a used Nexus1 with Froyo already installed. Can He unlock the bootloader and root the phone? When He turns on the phone, their is no ''unlock'' symbol at the bottom. Why Google has not patched the bootloader and rooting procedure in the Froyo firmware? like Apple, everytime their is new firmware update, the jailbreak is lost and the device becomes secure.
Thanks in advance.

Here's an idea! Why don't you post this question in the Nexus One forums, since this question has nothing to do with the Desire??
Regards,
Dave
Shoot, this is desire forum, I did not realize it. Sorry. Mods, delete this thread and can some1 please answer? so I don't have to create another thread in Nexus's forum.
The reason is that Google actually tell you how to unlock the bootloader. They don't need to patch it. They only give you a warning that doing so invalidates your software warranty.
Unlike Apple, Google don't mind giving you full control over your phone.

[Q] Rooting 4.0.2.A.0.62, already have an unlocked bootloader. Help?

So folks.
Just reached home with my new phone, an Xperia Arc S LT18a, I believe.
I'm stuck with this firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 which doesn't seem to have an easy way to get a custom ROM on it yet. Sucks that I didn't read about this before heading out to buy a phone.
I went through one of the guides here and had the bootloader unlocked via Sony's website. However, the rooting instructions didn't work. So searched further and realised the issue.
I've seen people say that they've done it by downgrading to a lower firmware, rooting it and then upgrading the firmware OTA again. Then I read that upgrading firmware OTA with an unlocked bootloader will brick my phone. So I'm not trying that.
Any help on how I could go about this? Simple step by step instructions would be very welcomed, since I don't really know much about flashing various bootloaders and ROMs considering I just bought the phone.
Thanks for reading!
there are many threads relating to this problem....plz read & search before posting....
Well i believe the answer to your questions lie in this Thread ...

Hope i was helpful ....
Flash the zip I attached to this post through CWM. That's it, you're rooted
Thanks!
I used the above zip file, but from a different thread and got it working. Cheers to both of you!

How can I have CWM on my phone? If I will flash phone I will do it with rooted ROM not stock. For me it's closed circle because I need root'ed device to load CWM on it, and I need CWM to make root.
Can someone explain me it?

With unlocked bootloader, one can easily flash a custom kernel with CWM, then flash the zip file.

Booter Locked, 4.1.4, What are my options?

im sorry for any double threading. im just so lost on this Experia Ion and was hoping someone can point me in the right direction from where i stand with it.
1. Its locked. is there a way to unlock it even though it says Bootloader Unlocked: NO ?
2. what can i do to get any custom rom on it while the bootloader is locked or is that even possible?
3. if that isnt possible, is there a way to get a better firmware version than 4.0.4?
yes i have flashtool working with drivers i already reloaded 4.0.4 stock on it.
main reason im even wondering about any of this, is because when i make calls the MIC on it is muffled horribly. ive read the forums about the Mic rubber Gasket piece so thats my next step. but im wanting to try a newer firmware (hopefully custom) before taking the phone apart . as stated im sorry for double thread posting if there was an answer already, ive been searching for days on the threads and ahvent found much on my questions, but i did attempt my best to answer them myself before ending up here.
There is no way to unlock the bootloader if it is set to unlock = no as far as i am aware.
My only suggestion is to use a custom rom that is based on Stock and works for locked bootloaders. Any of the ROMs in the development section that are marked as LB in the title (for your phone) will work. Full instructions are there. You will need to root and install recovery to install.
Futher info on rooting is here if you haven't already done it.
thank you so much, im so used to samsungs yknow? methods are definitely different with the xperias. thanks for the direction point. i just rooted and setting up recovery i hope this thread helps others who are lost as well

Verizon N4-SM-N910v ROOT Method???

Is anyone familiar with this Root Method? I'm a little confused because there is still a Verizon N4 Root Bounty but I found this Root method on Android XDA. I wondering is this Root Method Legit? Will it work? Does it Trip Knox? This particular Root method claims that it will work on the Developer Edition & Regular Stock edition. I would just like to know has anyone else tried this & what where the Result? I posted a Link to the Root Method Below. Thanks Jason

Unless an exploit was discovered seconds ago, it will not work. Believe me, when it's finally exploited, the news will be bigger than The Beatles stepping foot on U.S. soil for the first time.
Kind of interesting how it does say it's for our phone. I myself doubt that an exploit was discovered without a whole bunch of people blowing up the threads about it. LOL Who wants to give it a shot?
Based on the Comments I read, Some have said it will work. One person said it failed but another commented & said it would work & he just needed to find the right firmware. I think I will give it a Try this evening when I get home from Work. If this does Work OMG!
ive been flamed plenty of times but i said months ago it wont get root. people dont listen smh
Nobody reads anymore. Once again, cf-auto-root only works on the Developer Edition!

SO Do I even act as if I know if it will work or not, NO which is why I posted here to get a Straight Forward Honest Answer, Not these Asinine Smart @$$ Comments. Sheesh WTH The OP posted in the Comments it would work with BOTH the Developer Edition & the Retail Version,
I don't see anything about it being specific to the Developer Version only. It says it's for SM-N910v and doesn't contain the developer model number, SM-N910VMKEVZW.
I do see a disclaimer on the CF-Auto-Root page: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ that says "If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device..." and it is my impression that the whole reason it's taken a while for a root exploit to surface was because of our locked bootloaders.
Look at the screenshots, that looks like 2 generation old touchwiz. And a random website called androidxda? Doesn't seem like a very reputable site.
The bootloader is locked, flashing CF-Autorooot will not work. This is basic stuff. Also for future reference, this doesn't belong in Android Development section.. take questions to Q&A.

I can confirm that this process works ONLY on the Note 4 Developer Edition. It will not work on the retail version no matter what firmware the user has on his phone because the retail version has a locked bootloader and the Developer Edition has an unlocked bootloader. This process will fail as soon as it tries to replace the stock recovery partition with the custom recovery (TWRP in this case).

I noticed some of what you are saying. I don't know Most of the "Basic" stuff with Android Root Methods. I can follow a Procedure to Root a Device. I don't know if this will work if this wont work etc etc AGAIN which is Why I brought the Questions to the PROS. I did look at some of this Questionably though. I also looked through the Comments & the OP posted 4 days ago that is would Work on Either Edition. I also Commented asking him again but the Comment is not showing up, maybe because it has to be approved before it will show up. The name AndroidXDA actually ADDED credibility to the post for me BUT it also made me Hesitant which AGAIN is why I brought the Question here to the PROS. As far as where I place the Thread IMO my question could go in the General Section or Android Development. I apologize for the Wrong Placement but I didn't put it in the Wrong Place on Purpose. I recieved a PM saying it had been moved & I even asked the Moderator Why because I still dont know why " Will this ROOT method work" is not a General Question or a question about Android Development. These forums aggravate me sometimes everything needs to be so perfect & in its right place according to moderators Opinions & who knows what that might be & if its placed in the Wrong spot BAM your Head is Bitten Off & you are Scolded for being so STUPID to put (blank) in that section. That is ALL. Sorry for asking a BASIC (dumb) Question & Asking it in the Wrong Place. I can only hope the Forum Gods Forgive me.
OOoooops I think I may have Broken another Rule with this Post. Dang It
THANK YOU jpcalhoun
You gave me the Answer without Criticism or Sarcasm. A plain & simple Answer to my Question which is all I asked for. Thank You. I now know that the OP AndroidXDA is WRONG. Thanks

Possible Bootloader Unlock
Okay I'm sure most of us have bricked or soft-bricked our devices. I have done so on the Note 2. I even screwed on my baseband once. This is what I tried to revive the phone.
1. Odin Stock (No luck)
2. Restore Back up (No luck)
3. And then interesting... Rooted a friends phone and created a backup in TWRP, swapped a few files and restored to my phone. (Worked) However, not only did this work, IT CLONED his phone entirely. IMEI, serial no., everything. Pretty much with identical sims- both of our phones would possibly ring when receiving a call.
With that said my initial problem wasn't solved.
So I started looking for a another method.
I found out that Samsung Kies has emergency recovery granted you have Model Number, and Serial No. of the device.
This WORKED. Good as new with exception of new 4.3 Bootloader.
So what I am getting at is...
What if we used the Serial No. of a Developer's Edition device through Samsung Kies to restore a Retail Version???
Theoretically speaking.... Kies would install the Official software for the Developer's Edition to our Retail device, Thus giving us and Unlocked Bootloader.
I only have 4 days left to return my device to Walmart.
If someone is willing to provide me with the serial number of a Dev Edition I will try this immediately.
Cheers!

I'm pretty sure this won't work because the Developer Edition bootloaders are INDIVIDUALLY signed. So, there is no way you can unlock the bootloader on a retail version...there is no Samsung "signature" for that bootloader.
Thanx for the clarification. Absolutely makes sense.
Is the SM-N910V a developer edition?
Just got one in the uk. My EE Sim works but no data, so I was gonna root it, then flash a eu rom on it. It's on 5.0.1
Thanks
Only if you bought a Developer Edition straight from Samsung......if it is a retail model it has a locked bootloader. ...so no flashing because you can't install custom recovery. Only root is temp root that goes away with reboot.

Soft Bricked Sony Xperia Z1C- Please Help :( I don't understand some of the tutorials

My buddy gave me his soft-bricked Sony z1c, and I'm having a really hard time figuring out exactly what to do to fix it. I'm sure I sound like an idiot, but I'm just feeling very confused here about what instructions are relevant to me. I've spent several hours trying to figure it out from several threads. This general Xperia recovery thread and This stickied Z1c thread, felt pretty helpful, but they weren't idiot-proof enough for me.
I'm just desperate for some straightforward, idiot-proof instructions for my situation
Phone Details:
At the time of the bricking, It had Sony's installed kitkat ROM.
It boots up to the sony screen and then goes dark again. Or will sometimes show the battery charging screen. (Apparently a textbook "soft brick?" )
It IS rooted, but i don't know if it had supersu or superuser.
I don't know if the bootloader was unlocked, but it wasn't bought from a carrier, so it might be. I'm pretty sure the bootloader IS unlocked, but am unsure. (this lack of information is probably the biggest source uncertainty and anxiety)
So far I've:
Downloaded, installed Flashtool. Haven't downloaded the suggested Firmware through it yet, because it's a pretty big download.
I did download the CandyRoms Kitkat zip as linked here, because I would like to keep Kitkat.
Main Questions: (for now)
Can I figure out whether the bootloader is unlocked before jumping into the instructions i'm going to commit to following? If the Bootloader is unlocked, that means I can follow the more straightforward instructions from the z1c specific thread mentioned above (but that thread still does leave me feeling iffy).
If I can't figure it out before jumping in, and it turns out that the bootloader is locked, will it damage things if I followed instructions as if it were unlocked? I'm like 85% certain it's unlocked but... I've read horror stories about other phones like Galaxies, and I'm paranoid.
If I install the firmware using the xperifirm tool in flashtool, will that upgrade me to Lolipop or higher? Can/should I use Flashtool to just straight up install the CandyRoms ROM? Do I even need to flash new firmware?
What exactly do they mean when they say "boot into recovery"?
Thanks for you help, and forgive me for any faults with this thread.

When you boot, do you see a colored led light flash on the ttop of the phone? If so, press volume up or down buttons when you see it, and you might get into recovery. Besides that, your best bet is definitely Flashtool. If you don't want Lollipop, download a KK ftf file. There's one here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...f-xperia-z1-compact-d5503-14-4-0-157-t3118047. Once that's fflashed, you can move on to rooting, etc
