How to update to 7.1.1 with TWRP installed on a Mac?

The title says it all. I'm running a Google version of Pixel XL unlocked, rooted with TWRP installed. How can I update to 7.1.1 while using a Mac?

On a Mac is is easy as pie. It is like a Linux system as the pixel will be recognized. Just download the standalone adb and fastboot installer. I don't remember the thread but do a search
Good luck. My Mac won't work with my phone's anymore. I year or so ago I lost the ability to do anything with adb and fastboot.

Us this http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/guide-update-fastboot-t3498187. You just need to put "./" in front of all fastboot commands. This will keep data but flash new system. Once you are back to stock just reflash twrp and reroot. Just did this yesterday and it worked perfectly. Just make sure you are on slot a not slot b when you flash everything.

Blocked on the OnePlus logo when flashing SuperSu on OxygenOS (Oreo)

Hello,
I had to go back to the latest version of Nougat, OxygenOS 4.7.5, because it works as root with SuperSu, but I have a problem with Oreo-based OxygenOS. When I flash SuperSu (latest version) with the latest version of TWRP, I restart the phone, but I get stuck on the OnePlus logo, so the phone cannot restart after at least 15 minutes of waiting. Do you have any idea what the problem is? I can't take advantage of Android Oreo by being rooted with SuperSu, it's annoying.
SuperSU hasn't been updated in a while and I assume it doesn't support Android Oreo. I would use Magisk instead. That's what I tried with Nougat and what I'm currently using on Oreo.

Okay, thank you. It's the same root with Magisk?

It's not the same binary but it does the same thing. It will allow apps to gain root access just as SuperSU used to do
Fixed with Magisk. ?

Security update available

I have a Google edition Pixel XL on Vzw's network. I have only had it for a few weeks. I am currently running android 8.1.0, unlocked bootloader, with root and Majisk 16.0. Just a short while ago, I received a notification that there is an update available- specifically a Security update available and the update size is 68.2 MB. This leads up to my question.
Do I need to do anything special prior to installing this "security update"? Do I install this update? I am coming from a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 so I am certainly not up on the does/don'ts of this bootloader unlocked, with root and Majisk 16.0.
Thanks so much in advance.

You cannot have any root or magisk or xposed installed to apply the update. Your bootloader can be unlocked though. To unroot to update just flash the boot.img. also can't have twrp installed

I followed Tenn3r's guide. You don't have to do anything special you just have to flash magisk again.

there is also this guide # 4

these worked fine for me. The only thing is I had to put my factory image files in the platforrm-tools folder.

Do I need to uninstall majisk and twrp first when using the factory image files?
No. I don't even have to uninstall Xposed. You'll have to flash twrp and magisk again tho.

Security update prompt

I've had my pixel 2 xl for a few weeks now. I unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP, rooted with magisk 16.4 and I am on flash kernal with stock ROM. I am getting a prompt for a Google security update. I shouldn't update with this right? Would I lose root or maybe it wouldn't work? Why am I getting the prompt since I'm rooted? Thanks.

It wouldn't update anyway since your rooted with custom recovery. You can long press the notification to shut it off, and in developer options, disable automatic updates :good:

Pixel 2 XL magisk lineageOS and OTA

Hello
I have a pixel 2xl on lineageos last firmaware available. I've installed magisk. I've also installed the patched boot.img. I would like to known the best way to proceed when an OTA comes up.
Do i have to reinstall the original boot.img of my actual firmware before i install the OTA or can i skip that step and install the Firmware update straight away?
I know that anyway i have to uninstall magisk and his modules before install the OTA.
Thanks
I update my Pixel 2XL running LOS 18.1 and Magisk weekly with the LOS OTA update with no problems whatsoever. I am using all the latest Magisk software and everything passes Safetynet and is working properly.
I just let LOS install the weekly update without doing anything special.
