The difference between the variants? XT1710-01 - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

I can't seem to find which XT1710 variant is going to be the US unlocked version that supports all major carriers in the US. I believe it is the XT1710-01, Verizon is XT1710-02, International GSM is XT1710-06. Is this correct? I am wanting to buy a Z2 Play but I want the unlocked USA version that I can use with Verizon but also have unlockable bootloader ( so not the XT1710-02 ), so I'm thinking XT1710-01 is the one I want. Thanks

You are correct. I have that same model. You have to be careful altering it from stock though. I lost my IMEI and have been unable to get it back. I wish I could tell you how to avoid my mistake.

HTC One m8 variants

Hi guys,
Planning to buy the m8 and root it. But should I be specific on the variants?
Im not from the US (The Philippines) so Most likely not gonna get atnt, sprint etc.
So my options are:
The international model
Emea (a friend of mine is selling his but it was bought in riyad, KSA)
Or the asian version (s801 2.5ghz)
Do they have like different model nos.? Different ruus / rom versions etc?
Had a bad experience when i bought a phone (m7 sprint wls) before, since im not from the us. Had limited roms available compared to the international version
Your input would really help

I would agree that you should not get a US variant. For one thing, they will be SIM locked. Another thing, the Sprint and Verizon versions are CDMA. Different software, and possibly different hardware (although its been discussed here, and not clear - but I would err on the side of caution and assume the hardware is different). So if your area does not use CDMA I would stay away from those variants.
All GSM versions, be aware that they can all be converted to another carrier variant once bootloader unlocked and S-off. So as long as you avoid the CDMA versions, you are good for ROMs.
I would suggest the version that supports your local 3G and LTE bands out of the box. But again, as long as you are willing to s-off the phone, you can change that in software. So if that is the case, I would just go with the best deal.
From what I understand, the Asian version is the same as any other GSM version, just with a slight overclock.
Well if you do go with a us carrier Verizon has the best coverage and thier phones are :not: sim locked. You can use them with any carrier anywhere. My second choice would be t-mobile

The OP is from the Philippines. They aren't going to use a US carrier.
I would advise against CDMA variants for the reasons already mentioned.

Thanks guys, I just want to be clear, so if I use a Rom or RUU on a GSM variant, as long as Im'm on S-Off / Unlocked Bootloader and/ or on SuperCID. I could use any Rom ./ RUU from different GSM variants (I checked the rooting guide for the M8 and is similar to the M7, so as far as unlocking the bootloader / root that I have an idea).
Do they have different RUUs at all??

Yes.
Aside from the CDMA RUUs, which I wouldn't try on a GSM version unless you read definitive advice elsewhere that its ok.

Only US versions have RUU, that I know of.
Yes you're right.
I thought all has ruus on it. But with supercid i could use any nandroid backup right? As long as its gsm
I think I will go for the Asian version (wwe right? Cause it has a higher clockspeed and updated s801) And go supercid and use international (gsm) roms. Will that work?

I believe that will work, yes.
WWE just means "world wide English". I think it refers to the Euro version.

Do LG G3 D855 international version needs to be unlocked

I was checking on internet that my phone is unlocked or not but it is in my mind that it is an international version and also global update for it is also available so can we use it in any of the countries which are meant for international version without any problem
No, just use dumped TWRP ( find them in G3 Android Development )
Is this a question or a statement? What are you looking for?

Put another carrier's sim in it and see if it asks for a code; if so, you'll need to unlock it. You can buy your code for @ $3.99 (US) on ebay.
I used different carriers on it and they worked perfectly ....

Variant of Z2 force can be BL unlocked and use international?

Variation of Moto Z2 Force for US Telco or countries
(Verizon) XT1789-01
(US Cellular) XT1789-02
(Sprint) XT1789-03
(AT&T/T-Mobile) XT1789-04
(Outside US) XT1789-05
(For Brazil) XT1789-07
Maybe this thread can be helpful for some...
Which are the models which the bootloader can be unlocked and use globally (outside of US)?
Please add EU unbranded XT1789-06
(I think this is the "real" Outside US, while XT1789-05 should be Chinese version, as it was on Griffin...)

Generally by Default Verizon Devices are Global, and in this case fot the XT-1789-01 You can place another carriers sim in the device and it will just work (as long as the bands are supported)
Historically, US Cellular phones have been able to run on Verizon LTE bands and have had their bootloader be unlock able. Can anyone confirm?

Verizon are global unlocked but not able to accept unbranded rom so not really global.
XT1789-06, uk edition, retus, single sim
i was just at Verizon, the OEM unlockiny tool is there on the z2 force . So Unlocking bootloader is perhaps possible.

Verizon and AT&T models are blocked on Motorola/Lenovo's unlock site by the unique identifier. Some parts of it that get decoded from the key your phone spits out has info for Moto to know which exact device is requesting the unlock code.

If you owned an exclusivity device, aka the Droid series, of course you couldn't unlock the bootloader from Motorola site itself. you had to use s-off. I do not know if they updated their builld to support 2017 phones

Except in this case the EM version is the only one aside Italian TIM version which can currently be unlocked.
You don't have to take our word for it, check supported devices and see for yourself.

EM version is not international, it's European market version. It's available only for European markets so it's understood that it can be unlocked, each and every LG model in Europe were able to unlock up from G4
International are those versions which are selling outside of USA and European markets, namely for Africa+ AME, CIS, SEA, Latin AM
the Latin g5 840 doesn't even have the same 820 chip it's the 652 I guess jcadduono was wrong to when he made the International version twrp for 850 I included a pic so we can start working together on root also nimax rom we worked hard and had to drop the international version because ceaser or I had the International version we went to 20m 2 updates

Question Trying to convert verizon Motorola edge+ to US retail version including rtos firmware

Has anyone successfully tried to convert Verizon edge+ 5g uw (XR2201-R4) to the fully unlocked US Motorola retail version (XR2201-R3)? I found the rom for the US retail version but I'm not sure if flashing that build will brick the phone or if I'll even get access to more cellular bands in the process. I saw forms converting the cn x30 version to global but I'm not sure if it would be possible for the Verizon US variant. I'm trying to also convert the rtos firmware to unlock more cell bands
i have the same phone, and it reminds me of the Lg V30. You had to convert that phone to the US 998 version. But i waited a long time until people smarter than me had figured it out.
