Since Huawei has stopped releasing bootloader unlock codes, the options for legitimate bootloader unlocking are limited. So far, I have identified only two methods:
* https://funkyhuawei.club/buycodes -- claims to work with all Kirin devices, but costs $55 USD for an unlock code.
* https://ministryofsolutions.com/huawei-bootloader-unlock-service-all-new-models-new-firmwares -- looks sketchy* and is currently not serving new codes, but many people on XDA have used this service successfully (see first comment).
* https://www.dc-unlocker.com/ -- probably won't work with any phone that's been updated to EMUI 8.0
* I'm using the word "sketchy" to refer to the appearance of the website, a refund policy that to me sounds aggressive, and the fact that they use Teamviewer for other services they offer.
Are there more? Has anyone else been able to figure out a way to generate codes or bypass the bootloader lock?
OR
Do I need to return my new Mate SE and get something else?
Ministry of Solutions (look at the unlock new devices link). Cost was 30 euro (~$35) last I looked. I got two Mate SEs done that were already on 8.0 with security patches since the release.

BTW, there really is nothing sketchy about the MOS solution. All you have to provide is the IMEI and S/N (over a PayPal form during payment) just like what was asked for when Honor provided codes to XDA members a while back. No remote connections, software required, etc. They send you a code that you use during the fastboot oem unlock <your_unlock_code> step. How they or funkyhuawei are getting the codes, I do not know. They are the legit device specific codes though. Take a look at the rest of the "how to" thread but mostly my comments including the one below. I have nothing to do with MOS other than being a very satisfied customer of a service that was provided months ago.

Gotcha. I see the "Service is Down. Those who already please have patience you will get code soon" note now. My gut tells me that the question of where they are getting the codes from is the reason, and it may be the same for funkyhuawei. I always figured that someone at Huawei was selling both of them the codes and then they were marking up the cost. As for the refund policy, it sounds pretty "don't be an idiot" reasonable LOL.
Looks like service is still down. Definitely a bad deal all the way around. Anyone dig up any info as of Jan 21 2019?

That's what I should have done right away as well. In the grand scheme who gives a **** if people want to modify, enhance or brick their phones? I get the support woes Huawei might have to deal with but at the end of the day they can just refuse to support a modified customer like every other company does. That's what XDA is around for anyway. If a consumer choses a company's product they should sell you the entirety of the product not hold vital parts hostage. F You Huawei. Never again.

There is a free way left. But for that you need to be on EMUI 8 with <=June patch. More details and instructions here - t.me/huaweihax

I currently trying to use this service:
https:// global-unlocking-solutions.miiduu.com/bootloader-unlock-codes-choose-model-below
It costs $32 to $34 depending on how long you want to wait.
I'll let you know if it works.
Update:
I bailed on the above service because I got no response. (I was never charged for the service)
What I ended up doing was downgrading my phone to android 7.0 with HiSuite.
The I used dc-unlocker.com to unlock and it worked. Cost me about $5.50

I just successfully unlocked my Mate SE (US Honor 7x) using this method. You're basically relying on the good graces of some folks who seem to have access to a Huawei key to sign a "slock" (software lock?) file. You use fastboot to export info from your phone, paste it in their telegram channel, and they send you a "slock" to flash with fastboot. After flashing the "slock", you can flash TWRP. Rebot into TWRP, use ADB to copy nvme, use a Hex Editor (I used HxD) to patch seven "1"s to "0"s in it, and use ADB to copy the patched nvme back to the phone.
This unlock method only works on MM or Oreo. This phone shipped with Nougat, so I upgraded to Oreo via OTA update. This is the TWRP i used, from this guide.
Here are the full instructions from the telegram group:
0. Prepare adb and fastboot. On windows, change all fastboot commands to ./fastboot and similarly for adb
Skip to step 2 if you have the June 2018 patch or earlier
1a. Downgrade firmware to June patch via androidhost.ru - search for your device, any C number should work.
1b. Downgrade, instructions are in the 'ReleaseDoc' folder. Use the forced install method
2a. Enter fastboot
2b. DO NOT REBOOT THE PHONE UNTIL STEP 3a is complete!!! Failing to follow this will result in a warn or ban.
2c. Enter powershell or terminal and type: fastboot oem hwdog certify begin;fastboot oem get-product-model;fastboot oem get-build-number
2c. Send the result here, then type #niceguys.
2d. A nice guy will send you your slock. Please be patient, they have real lives. Download it on the same pc as you have fastboot on.
2e. Copy the slock to your working directory
2f. Type in your shell: fastboot flash slock <slock_filename>
(Download twrp on the pc that has fastboot, copy to working directory)
3a. fastboot flash erecovery_ramdisk <twrp filename>
3b. Read step 3c and 3d
3c. fastboot reboot
3d. Hold volume up *AFTER* the phone vibrates
3e. Twrp should boot up. If not, reboot it and try 3d again
4a. Connect usb
4b. adb shell dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/nvme of=/tmp/nvme
4c. adb pull /tmp/nvme
WARNING: FOLLOW THESE STEPS VERY CAREFULLY AND DOUBLE-CHECK EVERYTHING!
5a. Open the nvme file with a hex editor. Repeat step 5b until you have done all the instances of FBLOCK.
5b. Search the file for FBLOCK. For each instance, you should see the character 8 shortly before. Go down exactly one line from the 8. Select the .. You should see 01 become highlighted in the hex area. Change the 01 to 00 and repeat 6 more times (7 in total). Save the file as nvmepatched
5c. adb push nvmepatched /tmp/nvme
5d. adb shell dd if=/tmp/nvme of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/nvme
6. Reboot!

Yup - free. Took me almost 24 hours (and posting my request a second time) to get the "slock", but there was no cost. (I'm not affiliated with the Telegram group or have any additional information on the process - just someone that was able to use it successfully.)
One tidbit - try to have all your ducks in a row and don't fill the channel with questions that have answers available elsewhere. (XDA, etc.) It angers the mods, and they kicked/banned a few users during my time in the channel.

Why would you u unlock then lock,??? If your phone is still operational just relock your bootloader.
just use depixel8 to unlock again and then use the firmware from googles website to flash everything back which will fix whatever else you messed up
---------- Post added at 12:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 AM ----------
use the version for Marlin that ends in P... and unlocking isn't necessary to do flash this but I figured you want unlock which is the only reason why I said to do depixel8 again
I used Chainfires method of Unlocking and then I unrooted the phone. I was tyring to play pokemon lol with my girl so I just locked the bootloader thinking it would factory reset my root automatically now it boots straight to charging weird. But aslong as I can still see the settings screen where you can START , Recovery and all that their is still a way right? I do half understand what you guys say because I used to write software in Visual Basic. Its just I haven't really dabbled into the Android / Linux stuff much.
In the bootloader(fastboot mode), while being connected to your PC, try typing fastboot format userdata and then fastboot format cache. This will wipe your device and maybe boot up. You can't flash anything now with a locked bootloader.

none of these advices are correct... unlock using depixel8 again which might fix the issue on its own if not just go to https://developers.google.com/android/images click accept and download the image for Marlin that ends in a P and extract it place your adb and fastboot binaries inside the folder that was made by extracting.... then go to the android bootloader mode hook up to computer and do fastboot flash-all.bat this will factory reset your device but you will be completely back to stock

You will need to verify you Lenovo account, an e-mail will be sent to the address you used to set up your account. Once verified go back to OEM/Bootloader unlock to start the 14day wait.
Hope that helps.

No. The July security update came on August. The first post on this thread came in July. So, this has nothing to with the new security patch. I checked two days ago and it synced correctly. It was only yesterday that I started experiencing this issue. I just hope it's a temporary problem.

I think we have proof now that is not an isolated issue. A lot of us are experiencing it at the same time. There was a similar issue last week for OTA updates, but after some pressure in the Lenovo forum, the servers were back online. I don't know if this is a temporary problem and the servers will be online soon, or OEM unlock service is down for good.

I am having the LenovoID without permission issue but this is happening when trying to turn on allow OEM bootloader unlocking in the developer options and I believe this has to be turned on before the fastboot command will work.
When I try the fastboot command of fastboot OEM get_unlock_data to get the code I need to convert for the unlock code, it returns Not Found for all values.
I contacted sorry about this but they want talk about it because they don't 'support it', I sent them the link for getting the code converted (https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b) and said if you don't support it why do you offer the service? Dear Community,
I just searched the past 2 days for a solution but I've not been lucky
Therefore I'd like to ask for help in this forum and hope there is some additional hint or hack I could try...:
So here's the situation:
OnePlus 5T (8/128) with a non booting or not "useful" OS (see last point what I've tried)
No TWRP or CWM
Stock Recovery present
Bootloader Locked
Allow Bootloader to be unlocked = FALSE
What I've already tried yet:
Flashing TWRP --> Not possible Bootloader Locked
Flashing regarding any other kinds like "update" or "flash all" as provided with TOOL_ALL_IN_ONE
ADB Sideload any available ROMS (Original "full" OP5T / FreedomOS / Omni8) --> ADB stops at 47% in Stock Recovery regardless of size of the ZIP file
Tried different versions of ADB (32 & 64 Bit / older & new / also with the LargeAddressAware approach / and on multiple PC's) --> Always same error (47%)
Stumbled upon the possibility to EmergencyDownload a factory flash due to Qualcomm chipset using the MSM-Download-Tool --> Only OnePlus 5 ROM available (no "T")
Mentioned EDL procedure works and OS is booting BUT neither Touchscreen nor USB OTG (for external mouse support) is working --> So I can't navigate and allow Bootloader to be unlocked again
Unfortunately I'm now stuck and have no more idea how to unbrick my phone again
What would help:
Any source to MSM-Download-Tool packed with a correct ROM for the OnePlus 5T
A Workaround to just flash TWRP via MSM-Download-Tool or Qualcomm's QFIL application in EDL mode
Some "hack" to bypass the locked Bootloader situation
Every appreciated Input you might have that I'm currently not aware of...
So PLEASE let me know of any approach that I could try or if you might have found a link or something else to a solution that might help me out of this disaster...
Many thanks in advance!
Tryouts due to your feedback:
@dreinulldrei - "fastboot boot recovery.img" tried with the original 5T Recovery.img also with blu_spark TWRP --> no luck...
SOLVED SOLUTION:
As the EDL factory flash ROM is currently not (or will never officially be) available public getting in contact with the OnePlus support team is required.
They have such a recovery tool (MSM-Download-Tool) with an appropriate ROM and are able to flash the device during a remote support session conducted via chat.
So by starting a chat on the OnePlus Support page and describing your situation will lead to scheduled time slot where a Level-2 technician will do all required steps remotely.
(All files are password protected and the technician ensures they are deleted at the end of the session so I'm unfortunately not able to provide the sources for DIY purposes...)
Following. I would think there would be some way to flash some sort of signed image via fastboot...

Thanks for your input - I'm really not aware of how to generate such *.ops ROM files as this is what the MSM Tool expects...
But if there is a way and you are able to extract and produce a MSM flashable file I would be very happy to try!
I would recommend trying to boot a OP5T recovery, you might have flashed some OP5 rom including OP5 recovery. Just go into fastboot (power on with volume up pressed down), then via cmd:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Since OP does not offer the recovery to be downloaded, it will need to be downloaded from a working device. Lacking the cable right where I am, but I am sure someone else can help out.

Ohhh good point - I also think there is the "wrong" recovery (from 5) currently on my phone (because also there the touchscreen behaves unexpectedly...)
But unfortunately with your command I get the "Your device is corrupted. It can't be trusted and will not boot" message.
Tried this with the original 5T Recovery.img I managed to obtain and also with the blu_spark TWRP - no luck...

U may have to make a call to oneplus so they can restore for u
Submit a ticket to One Plus
You are going to have to submit a ticket, they will arrange a time to help you by unbricking the phone remotely.
I just had to do this myself this week, and it got done today.
I do have the 5t unbricking files but I cannot access the archive because it's password protected.
One important this you didn't mention is how this happened.
OnePlus may be able to help with this one, but all root guides explicitly include the phrase "at your own risk."

Thanks for all your advice - so I will arrange a support chat/ticket as soon as possible and inform about the result in this thread.
Didn't thought that OnePlus Support Team would even care about such bricks (no warranty / own risk / "playing" with root / etc...)
But as indeed they seem to help like @WMerkens experienced I would be very happy to have a working device again

don't know why you would think that OP wouldn't help...they have said from day one that unlocking/rooting does not void your warranty. Heck they encourage it. I assume you are the same person on the OP forum w/ this problem. Hopefully after you get this resolved you will have learned to NEVER EVER RELOCK your phone unless you do the whole factory image qualcomm recovery tool bit. and experienced OP folks on this forum know any claims of a "hardbricked" OP phone is ALWAYS not true.
Yeah oneplus used to be good about and does a remote session to restore, this was back in the one plus one days though, but I think they still do it

Awwww I wish we could get them, do they use the msmtool too?
How I bricked a 5t
I got the phone and I had installed twrp, that went fine. I was looking at magick systemless rooter when the phone then kicked in with a OTA update, I chose to ignore it the first time. It occurred again a few minutes and in my haste I let it do it's job but it did not complete correctly. I rebooted and the phone complained about corruption to the OS, I got in again but made the dumb mistake of re enabling the OEM lock and because I thought that might be causing the problem. I rebooted again but now I could not boot any more into the OS, it complained I was corrupted and go to google to see what to do.
So I was left with a bricked phone.
I could do bootloader but not recovery and I could not unlock the bootloader.
I could not get in via adb usb debug, So after much research I download the OnePlus 5 unbricking pack and learned a whole lot about qualicom and EDL mode, plus I learned a lot about the QFIL tools and restoring a phone. I did the 5 unbrick but my screen ended up upside down but the touch was right side up, which resulted in a very hard to use phone.
I tried the QFIL method but I was missing a mdb file to be able to talk to the phone.
So I gave up submitted a ticket and after much bad co-ordination on their part got a level 2 tech to debrick the phone remotely.
They do a reverse VPN and connect to your computer, they tell you to have 2 files archive ready in a folder on your desktop (they supply the links). They install the EDL driver and unpack the debrick archive. The archives are password protected, they run the tool and restore the phone
back to factory.
They erase the unpacked archives after they are done.

don't know why you would think that OP wouldn't help...they have said from day one that unlocking/rooting does not void your warranty.

Oh yes I've learned my lesson on this  --> Never ever set OEM to be unlocked to NO again
Obviously I do not exactly know what wrong procedure made me stuck in this situation but I just wanted to revert every single step back one by one to see which element brings me back to a valid SafetyNet situation...
I've been with the OnePlus "family" since the OP1 but never needed any direct support from the vendor - so every time there's a first time and so for me now...
Thus I really didn't know OP staff is actively doing remote support for their devices - but thumbs up for that! :good:
(BTW: I'm not the guy from the OP forum)

Yes basically it's the same archive as the 5 unbrick pack but it's for 5t, OnePlus 5T OxygenOS 4.7.2-171116.zip is the archive and you can look in it and you see the ops file is for dumpling not cheesburger, which is the code name for 5t. I saw the MsmDownloadTool is 4.0.8

I just had a chat with them before and got mailed a link to the MSMTool incl. ROM for the OP5T (dumpling)
But unfortunatley support files from OnePlus are password protected Nevertheless here the original vendor link:
https://onepluscn-my.sharepoint.com/personal/sheva_liu_oneplus_net/_layouts/15/guestaccess.aspx?docid=0fde9596c72744b4fb9c073ca5d87edbe&authkey=AQPXKRi7pdIzZX-5WH_pwWg&e=1030aa0046da4d1aa9189020027d9c93
So I have to wait for my remote support schedule on Saturday to have the L2 technician entering the password and do the rest.
Would be able to do this myself but OnePlus obviously wants to protect their sources what I have to accept, respect and be patient for...
So, never turn off the OEM Unlocking?
You can now unlock the bootloader with FunkyHuawei for a fee of $55, or 30 Euros with Ministry of Solutions (cheaper but FunkyHuawei is more certain)
As most of you already know, Huawei stopped giving away bootloader unlock codes. So it is up to us, to hack our way to root and custom ROMs.
Following, are a few things we could try,
Also, I own a Nova 3i currently. There are always the possibility that something working for me won't work for you, because of different chipsets, but I guess that this forum is also for the development of Nova 3i.
NOTE THAT SOME OF THE FOLLOWING ARE PAID SERVICES. I'M NOT RELATED WITH ANY OF THEM.
+DC-Unlocker:
I tried the latest version, got an unknown error 375. (This error also goes for the latest versions of P20 Pro, Mate 10, etc.). And the developers said that they won't support any new Huawei phones, and that they'll leave new Huawei phones for HCU-Client, because the two services are related.
+HCU-Client:
You can't try this without buying credits. If you feel generous, go on and try this. They released a couple of new versions in this week.
+Bootloader exploiting:
I really don't know anything about this, feel free to contribute.
+Secret Fastboot backdoors:
There can be a LOT of these, considering that there are a family of commands under <fastboot oem backdoor>. And I discovered quite a lot of secret commands, almost every one of them sounding like that they could seriously brick the device. For example, consider what <fastboot oem djtagtosd> sounds like. (Search Google for JTAG) If you would like to test some of the less-dangerous looking ones, please PM me, even an old Huawei device is okay as long as it has a Kirin chipsets.

Maybe there is some legislation about that, actually the issue of locked bootloaders runs more than 6/7 years (I think) and they had plenty of time if they wanted to do that... but we can hope, considering things like GDPR.
At least one of things they MUST do is releasing the kernel sources, because by using Android they agree to some license (I don't remember the name) that mandates releasing kernel source..
BTW you can now unlock the bootloader with FunkyHuawei for a fee of $55, or 30 Euros with Ministry of Solutions (they are cheaper, but they look more shady, and I can't help noticing that there website looks just like one of those poorly done scam sites :laugh

mandated but no one is enforcing it so huawei will just delay the relase of the kernel source until the insterest has died out.
nope, not gonna take that risk . $55 seems cheaper until it's converted to my country's currency. haha.

Another one source to unlock bootloader - $22
This method has already been tested on 4pda. Working TWRP can be taken from here
And HCU doesn't have NOVA 3 support yet to read the unlock code now
OEM Unlock option
Is it enought to enable "OEM Unlock" in "Developer Options" from the phone settings to unlock the bootloader and I can simply install TWRP afterthat? (the option "OEM Unlock" is not greyed out, and can be easily enabled, at least in the devices that are sold in my country).
Or do I still have to unlock it using unlock key from Huawei Website (or other sources)?

Yep. It is like this when you issue the command in fastboot to unlock:
Without code and without enabling the toggle: Gives and error telling to turn on the toggle.
With code and without enabling the toggle: Same as above
Without code and toggle enabled: Error wrong password
With both: Success
I think we are lucky on that side, I think that the toggle is also disabled on Mate 20 series. So we can unlock the bootloader. with external sources for now, so it may be a good idea to block OTA updates.

so i checked using fastboot oem get-bootinfo. lo and behold it's really unlocked.

you have to root first by installing magisk or supersu. and it needs twrp to root. in case of nova 3i there isnt any existing twrp. only on nova 3 since it has the same soc as p20pro.
was about to test it on my nova 3i. good thing i checked the specs of nova 3 first before proceeding.

Let's try flashing the stock boot.img. If that works, I will patch the boot image to manually disable dm-verity and add Magisk.

"fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img". That's what entered in cmd. Also after magisk patched the ramdisk the patched ramdisk is only 5mb. The original was around 25mb.
What should be patched anyway? I patched ramdisk.img via magisk ang since the partitioning is different with phones released with oreo. What is your method?

well, this sux. based on what i have read on other huawei device flashing via fastboot is not always the best way. the phone may display that the bootloader is unlock but it wont still allow any modifications. why cant this be straight forward like samsung/oneplus. this is frustrating.

What if we try obtaining a code by one of the third party methods and try that? Maybe they just forgot or didn't care to set the variables you saw there as this is a new chipset. I think it is not really unlocked, if it was the phone will display the "Your device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted" message on boot.
Looks like what I said before is true. fastboot oem lock-state info returns USER Locked.

They are just copy pastes and no longer works as of Huawei stopping providing codes.
Google should try to remove them from coming at top of Google searches, IDK.

Hi everyone, similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO, regular OP7T and OP7TPRO here is the EDL package (also known as MSM tool or unbrick tool) that can revive a bricked OnePlus 7T bought from T-Mobile.
It can also be used to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS.
You can download the following versions:
ANDROID 10:
10.0.3 HD63CB
10.0.5 HD63CB
10.0.7 HD63CB (credits @viperbjk )
10.0.8 HD63CB (credits @viperbjk )
10.0.9 HD63CB
10.0.10 HD63CB
10.0.13 HD63CB
ANDROID 11:
11.0.1.5 HD63CB
Mirror for first and last MSMs: https://onepluscommunityserver.com/
It will only work with T-Mobile variant HD1907
Instructions:
Power your device off
Maintain volume up and volume down keys to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
Specific to 10.0.7 and 10.0.8
On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.
Click on Enum to be sure your device is detected and press Start.
Wait ~300 seconds
Enjoy your brand new device
FAQ:
My device isn't detected when I click on "Enum" button
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=qualcomm hs usb 9008 ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked in first part of this FAQ.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.

Lots of testing. This year's convert process has be a tad bit harder due to OnePlus trying to make things a tad more difficult for us. Just stay patient and it will come soon in some form of manner.
So another little update. I managed to convert(a dirty way) and it involves at least being bootloader unlocked. I waited a week and got my code and immediately did this. This method isn't released yet but if you guys are interested in testing and have some skills in edl and know your way around python or adb please PM ME. We can get you into our testing group temporarily and try some methods to get you converted. This will be per discretion by me. If I don't think you can help I'm NOT going to add you.
Nice. I unfortunately need to wait until a bootloader unlock is possible since T-Mobile refuses to unlock mine.
This is really, REALLY good news. Well done, Joe!!
