Nougat reviews?

So now that people are getting 7.0, can we get some feedback? I'm itching to upgrade, but 6.0.1 works so well that I'm scared. Battery life? Performance? Pros, cons?
Edit: Also please detail your upgrade path, eg. Did you hard reset / wipe data? Did you sideload the OTA or are you running a ROM?
Battery's same as MM
Performance same as MM
All working.
Pros: Multitasking (Window's way)
Better notification bar and settings
Root it's now available
Can change the DPI without failures.
Settings redesigned.
Cons: Isn't Xposed available...Yet.

Did you do a hard reset as well, or just an upgrade with existing data? If upgrade, you haven't had the stuttering issues I've seen reported?

I upgrade with TWRP thanks to @flashallthetime
Follow his instructions and all be good.
No bugs for me. No issues.
I did a dirty flash, so no hard reset

Ok, sounds like you flashed a ROM then. Thanks
I received OTA update. No stuttering issue.. Performance is top notch. Battery life is awesome just like MM. Coming from 5X i have been missing double tapping recents to switch between apps on MM, but since the update I'm super happy
I have some stuttering / lagging when I swipe through the homescreens and open the notification drawer.
Performed OTA upgrade in the reteu channel. Seems not a too big issue, but still noticable.

Germany. Got it on 13th February.
Ten days on and it still hasn't rolled out. I wonder if they've found a problem of some kind.
Probably the performance issues hold up the global rollout.
I sideloaded the reteu OTA a week ago. So far there is no change from MM on battery life and performances, the phone is still smooth and super reactive. What I consider as an improvement over MM are the notifications, the split screen and switch between the last two apps, the notification volume fix (gave me a heart attack the first time I got an SMS) and the DPI changer.
I didn't clear the cache not factory reseted the phone, I just sideloaded the OTA like I would've done with a regular OTA.
Is Now on Tap available on Nougat? I highly depend on that.
A link to my short review of sideloaded RETEU in another thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71222470&postcount=1365
Bottom line: I have no issues, everything runs very well. Nougat is the best Android so far for me.

Yes, it is. It's a Google Play Services related setting.
Ok,so i tried nougat (the prerooted one from here) and went back to MM cause i dont like the display colours on nougat.they look washed to me.i like it better in marshmallow.maybe just me,maybe just the rom.and i had problems with whatsapp notifications.
Any retus owners get the nougat update yet? I'm using a custom ROM right now so I don't know.

Nope. I'm giving it another couple weeks
I received the ota update and did a factory reset. The only problem I'm facing so far is that I miss a lot of notifications of Gmail and Whatsapp mainly. I have to wake up the phone or even open the app to get the new mails and messages. Could this have some to do with the battery optimization options? In MM the same settings where set with no issues.

integrated call recording after Pie update

Hello!
Google disabled thinrd party call recording in android Pie.
Can anyone tell me if this feature will disappear in pie update? I received the OTA but i really need this ( it's the main reason reason to me for buying Asus phones). If disabled, i can't update the phone.
Asus support can't answer...
Anyone who has already installed pie can answer please?
Thanks!
I've installed the Pie update and the inbuilt call recording works fine as before. You can go ahead and update.

The 3rd party ACR app doesn't work but the inbuilt call recording function works fine.

Automatic call recording is working fine and flawless.
Refer the screenshot.
They have blocked it in PIE update. It is really wrong as in many countries it is still legal. ONEPLUS has call recording in their PIE update. It is really sad. I don't understand why can't they offer it in their phone as they will lose the market otherwise to their counter part ONEPLUS. It is legal in INDIA and CHINA which are the biggest markets for ASUS. God helps the ASUS for foolish decisions.

native call recording

hi,
Google removed the ability to record calls starting from Android 9.
it means that the API itself got removed.
do we have some ROM with Android 9 or 10 with recording enabled?
thanks

Your premise is not correct. You don't need custom ROM. You just need root.
We have long had mods to record calls on both stock Oreo and Pie. Pie has been here since July 2019 and we record calls all the time. You must have just gotten this phone?
Here's one.
26th July 2019:
[Mod] Call Recording & Volume Button Answer mod & New Call UI (Pie & Oreo)

There's others floating around out there, too.

S9+ call recording

I'm using the latest official version, without root.
After thorough searches I found no apps that can record calls with actual sound.
Appreciate ideas how do do it.

Isn't there a inbuilt call recorder in the default dialer ? Go to settings and check ?

Thanks, option exists on the S9 but not of the S9+, which is quite strange, any hints?

Could well be.
The recording S9 I mentioned below is still on Android 9, while the S9+ is on Android 10.
I found apps which are seemingly recording, however no sound. Like they are blocked from accessing the sound, despite the granted permission.
Need a workaround probably?
in my opinion, having stock unrooted you can forget about recording calls on S9/s9+
Despite all that android 10 on the S9 ruined the phone! i have more 3 months of warranty and i'll root it and have a custom rom! o
Appreciate is someone can check on S9+ with Android 10

Messaging and Dialer

Hello there,
Just got my Mi 10T Pro some days ago and the first thing I noticed was the lack of the Dialer and Messaging apps from Xiaomi.
Apparently, the global version, at least the ones sold in the EU come with the Google versions pre-installed.
Does anyone knows how to get them back?
Cheers,
Arky
Did you try to install the apk? https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/xiaom.../contacts-and-dialer-xiaomi-12-2-7-0-release/
If that doesn't work then you will have to flash xiaomi.eu rom.

Most ask dialer app for call recording feature. Even if u download apk and sideload it, i dont think it will be the default call screen. Not sure. But i have truecaller as default dialer app but oy stock call screen appears when im in a call.
@Arkymedes I'm considering this phone but working call recording is a must for me.
Could you please test if one of these call recorder apps works fine and it can record your voice and the other person?
These are two example call recorder: Cube ACR and Total Recorder
I'd be extremely grateful if you could check them out and let me know before I make the purchase.

Hello there!
Yeah, I tried installing both apks from APKMirror but they give errors as soon as you start them, so I believe some dependencies are not met with the Global ROMs.

Unlocking does no harm to ur device. It wont even void ur warranty. You can use without rooting too. Idk why u dont want to unlock.

Just checked now. Unlocking does makes you to loose safety net. Sorry. But my previous device moto g5s plus , safety net didnt broke for unlocking. Its lost only when rooting . But magisk hide comes to help. It has been months i used that device. Getting mi 10t tomorrow. I will test out few things like sideloading dialer apk using adb and other ways and will inform you if i find anyway without unlocking or rooting.

Because of the gdpr, Europe insists that all data collection (even call recording) be public, and since xiaomi is chinese and they're collecting everything you do on your phone, they decided that it's better to comply with eu regulations than to lose huge european market. And since no one in Europe is considering call recording even remotely useful (you can't use call recording in a court for example) that option was removed as unnecessary.
