Unable to Pause/Change Tracks using Bluetooth Headphone buttons after Pie Update - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
So I'm quite happy with the Pie update except for one issue I just found. I am no longer able to control my music player using bluetooth headphones. I have a Bose QC25 and a Jaybird Freedom and am not able to change tracks using either of them! Is anyone else having this issue?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried to enable the "Disable absolute volume" -setting in the developer options?
I think this will help you

Hey it worked ! I cleared data for Bluetooth System app and restarted my phone! and it works perfectly !!

This happens on my device too. But instead with wired headphones. Has anyone found a fix, or does anyone face the same issue? I'm on Pie too.

[Q] Volumes turns down by itself ?

All is in the tittle, only with headset plugged in. It happen when it's in my pocket or in my hand.
I've try an other headset still turning down by itself. . .
Please help.
Either you're volume button is broken and is randomly pressing "volume down" or you're pressing the button yourself without realizing it... (can happen in your pocket but not likely in your hand^^)
So unfortunatly i'd go for the broken button :/
I hope for you i'm wrong tough...
Thanks
But it only happening when the headset are plugged in so I not sure for the broken button
Well if you're not in silent or vibrate mode when the headset aren't plugged in, i'm probably wrong so it's good for you i guess
I can't help you then, sorry :/
Thanks, you take time to reply it's already an help.
i have the same problem. i guess it only happens while receiving a message, so there are some problems with the music app (i use Google music). the music also turns off for 1-2 sec while receiving or writing a message listening to music via Bluetooth. its definitely no hardware issue.

It's look like I fixed it by only listening ton music with a bluetooth headset.

I'm also having this problem, did anyone find a solution?
Possible solution
This may differ from rom to rom, but try unchecking "Safe headset volume" under settings -> Sound -> Advanced.
I'm using the Gummy rom, so your settings might not look the same. Try searching for "Safe headset volume" as this automaticly turns down the volume when a headset / minijack is plugged into the phone Hope this helps!
Using the Bluetooth headset seems to help

[SOLVED] it had nothing to do with the phone (probably), the headphones had controls on them, and they may have been sending false signals to the phone.
My Oppo F5 having the same issue. Its volume automattically goes down , when a notification comes while playing any youtube video or any background music.
Someone please help.

I also use that, it works well with wireless beats. Are your headphones bluetooth or wired? I know where to turn the Volume up in the system but only works for Speaker and wired headphones.
Mine are wired. Viper has independent controls

I like the viper as well been using a little over a year now. If you wanted to change the volume you can look in system/etc/default gain.conf
If you open that up with a editor or put onto a computer and open up youll see some default numbers that you can raise and it will make the volume louder. Its pretty easy to understand if you were to open up.It has a description of what numbers are what sound. Im sure your fine with viper but just giving you the option just in case you wanted to learn something.

LOW Bluetooth Volume

Hey guys is it just me or does anyone else have crazy low Bluetooth Volume? Even maxed out is it very very low compared to my Nexus 6P. And has anyone figured out a solution to this? I tried the Devine audio mod great for increased speaker volume but Bluetooth it does virtually nothing. Any help into this area would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same issue. No solution so far...

Should be able to be fixed using the mixer_paths file but I thought the volume was fine
If u flash viper u can easily adjust the output gain, also for Bluetooth

My volume is comparable to what I got on my Nexus 6P. I listen to my podcasts at the same volume level over my car stereo as before.

I think this has an issue with streaming apps like Spotify, same as other versions of V4A I've tried. Mine won't play in the car either. Annoyingly, gonna have to revert to stock for now.
This does not work for me.......looks like I'm not able to get Viper4Android to work either. So it looks like I will wait for a later time. Thanks for the recommendation though.
I don't think Viper works. It doesn't seem to do anything to increase the volume on phone calls using Bluetooth headsets. Unless somebody can tell me a way to do it I don't think it works.

U have to enable viper it in the specific section, e.g. Bluetooth. U can check if it runs when pressing driver status while music is playing.
Also go to menu then UI SETTING and enable expert mode.
In the Bluetooth tab scroll all the way down and crank the output gain up. Done

Weird. I am having no issues. Neither in my car nor with my headset. Don't know any fix for that though, sorry.

It doesn't seem to work even after doing your suggestion. I guess I need a different method. Thanks for the assistance though.
Same issue for me. Installed via twrp restarted, connected to bt headphones, also car, music would not play thru any player. Used advanced mode too. Appears to break things in 3.2.1 requiring a reflash to fix as deleting apps and editing build.prop didn't fix at all.

it's possible to use viper on non-rooted device ?
i'm experiencing the same problem with my plantronics explorer 50 and onplus support told me that my device actually is not compatible.
Completly stock and no complains about bluetooth volume in my Volvo C70.
Certainly not with Music, for phone calls I should like it a little bit louder, but my Samsung S6 Edge is certainly not louder, and the audio quality for conversations (both ways) is even beter on the OP3.

disable bluetooth a2dp hardware offload?

I have searched here and the Google, with no joy.
I was browsing DEVELOPER OPTIONS and ran across a setting, that I do not know if ON or OFF is best.
SETTINGS > DEVELOPER OPTIONS > NETWORKING > DISABLE BLUETOOTH A2DP HARDWARE OFFLOAD
I am unsure which was default and could not find the benefits of either selection.
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

According to this article the default is off, but it does not say what the purpose of the toggle is.

Thanks! At least this confirms what I thought.
I think I inadvertently turned it on, while scrolling. I believe that's why I noticed it, in the first place, because the switch was blue and obvious.
Did you ever figure out what the purpose of the toggle is?
I looked at this a while ago https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78362981&postcount=10
Different manufacturers/Models of phones have it disabled or it resets when the phone starts. This could be to do with them implementing their own audio processor (DAC/Chip/etc) for processing the audio. It has no effect when changed according to anyone that's bothered to trying it.
Thanks for the update.
It will affect gapless playback on GPM (dont know about other services) with Bluetooth headphones ( dont know why)
enabling this feature helped me fix a low volume problem on a Bluedio T6 bluetooth headphones.
I want to know exactly what this is too. I only know that it makes music track transitions on GPM gappless. I found that suggestion on Reddit when I was trying to listen to Dark Side of the Moon and the damn gaps kept ruining my chill.
I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 running Derpfest (android 9 pie) rom.I toggled it off and it asked me to restart my phone. So I did and now it's greyed out.Plus I noticed a slight difference in audio quality while using my BT earphones.Any way of turning it back on or I'll have to live with the consequences?
Yeah at the bottom of dev settings you can reset all to default.

This happened to me too. To fix this, in the developer settings menu, toggle Developer Options off then without leaving that screen, toggle it back on again. Scroll down and you should be able to toggle that setting off.

When disabling it you have to restart your phone and of the feature is working it will remain off and your headphones will work
google voice stopped to work when i turned on this option.
most of you are toggling an option without knowing what it does.
Shouldn't be better understanding exactly what it's for ?

Bluetooth Audio SUPER Quiet...I've tried Everything! LOL Please Help :)!

Hello everyone !
I am in love with this phone except for the fact that all of my bluetooth speakers and ear buds play at a SUPER low volume! All settings on max, checked dev options and couldn't see anything under audio that seemed to help, downloaded dozens of apps that seemed to make little to no difference, and also tried my very first ever ADB with computer and had no luck!
PLEASE tell me someone has solved this? This seems to be the elusive problem on the internet about this phone!
TIA !!!

Thanks so much for the quick reply!
I don't have absolute volume as an option in dev options for some reason! I can't find it anywhere which I thought was strange? Is there another way to access it??
Also my earbuds seem to be in good working condition for other devices.
Also in huawei I can't seem to find the clear cache option either - I have searched forever online and can't find it! The screenshots or app instructions seem to look different!
Any help with those? thanks!!!

Parodn me, when i type re-pair i meant do a RE-Pairing of bluetooth device to phone, aka un-pair then re-pair phone to device.
no idea why you do not have syn absolute volume in dev options
to clear cach u need to go setting=>app=> then click on the 3 dots on the top right of phone screen and tap show system process
there u will see Bluetooth and Bluetooth MIDI
clear data/cache for both to give it a try
Thanks so much ! I did exactly that and no luck! I appreciate the help, but yes I'm not sure at all why there is absolute volume option...Google for some reason isn't helping! Hope someone can !!! So frustrating !
SO frustrating still nothing is working !!!!
Perhaps you could try third party software like RE Equalizer from the Google Play store. You can boost volume with it.
