I wanted to try these instructions of unlocking bootloader:
https://www.techdroidtips.com/lg-q7-2018-unlock-bootloader/
However in the beginning of the procedure it is impossible to reboot into bootloader (which is needed to obtain device ID). When the command "adb reboot bootloader" is executed then the phone simply reboots into system again. (Attention: when "adb reboot recovery" is executed then it does Factory Reset without any prompt!!)
If to simply switch off the phone, and afterwards to try any many various keys combinations (like e.g. Vol- & Power) the phone always boots immediatelly into system.
What's going on? Has manufacturer intentionally blocked any possibility to boot into a bootlader?
Maybe this is for sake of typical antitheft applications? No way to do a factory reset etc? (To boot into "recovery" which just wipes data is possible only if screen unlocked.)
If so, then there is an inconsistency: after reboot and some initial booting the request of screen unlock arrives - before completing loading the system. So if a person don't know screen unlocking pattern tnen phone won't complete booting and would-be antitheft application won't do its running.

You can try all you want, the bootloader is not able to be unlocked as you have been told here.
I have no problems booting to bootloader with adb but you can also boot to bootloader/fastboot mode
by power off, hold vol down and plug usb cable to pc.

Could be. I once came across an article on unlocking, rooting, and TWRPing the Q7. Everything in it was false, not possible, or didn't exist (TWRP for the Q7).
Anyway, you can give it a shot and see what happens.

'give it a shot' doesn't sound enough safe to me TY, btw

What? KingoRoot can root systems with locked bootloader.
It did already many times for mine and my friends phones and tablets.
Kingoo team doesn't wait for manufacturer policy change but searches for system "safety" wholes and backdoors.
Every system has such, just there's need to find them (hack a system "security" protection against knowledgable users).
And to make it possible sooner on your device you had better avoid "system update", security updates and other bulls**t . Switch the option/service off, freeze it with IceBox.
Don't believe about security rationale! It's to keep aware users from taking control of their phones!
(Personaly, a user, client who buys new phone, should have the right to choose! If have brains to handle "security" on his/her own then ON DEMAND should receive system unlocking or WHATSEVER hindering FULL SYSTEM ACCESS!
It is HUMAN RIGHTS issue!
I think, the issue should go political. Yeaah, a person carries a device with Android everywhere, for all day and night, uses it for regular communication with the whole world, in all areas of activity, ranging from professional and business up to very intimate ones. A person knows it spies him/her, but it's nothing person can do to take full control over this small spying device, afterall purchased for quite big sum of money in many cases.

I'm not sure where this threat should goes, as it should be Windows RT Troubleshooting but there isn't such forum. Please don't delete it.
The Problem:
Now, if I turn on Surface, under the Logo it says "Preparing BitLocker recovery"
and ask me for BitLocker key to continue.
After I enter the key, the "unlock" was successful and goes to Recovery,
but everything after that failed:
1. If I choose Exit and continue to Windows RT, I got locked out again and everything above happened again. Infinity loop.
2. Same thing if I choose Turn off your PC, I turn it on and I was again locked out.
3. Automatic Repair couldn't repair, Refresh& Reset stuck on 1%.
How this was caused:
I had my Surface RT unlocked (jailbreak) using Netham45's RT Jailbreak Tool 1.1.1 during that boot:
I was using a normal Metro app (PPTV) to download some video just as usual, and I closed my cover to put it in sleep mode. Several minutes later I found out the power was off (it suddenly shutdown) , from then it stays in the locked out infinity loop.
I have seen similar situation when "testing signing mode is on":

(The Original threat this came from)
So it might because the sudden shut down didn't turn of the test signing mode, so BitLocker locked me out.
Anyone has idea what to do to make my Surface working again? Anyway to disable test signing mode using Command Prompt? I don't care about my files inside!

Seems unlikely, as the "jailbreak" is in-memory only. More likely some catastrophic corruption of storage happened.
This is not a dev or hacking issue; this thread belongs in General or Surface if it belongs anywhere on XDA-Devs at all.
I'm going to agree with schettj here; this sounds like storage corruption. Contact support and see if you can get a warranty replacement. Don't mention the jailbreak, obviously, but since it is in-memory only it shouldn't matter (although it's possible that the jailbreak might cause a kernel memory corruption that messes up the storage stack but doesn't cause a bluescreen, this seems unlikely).
Incidentally, if it's a production device, you can be sure you weren't in testsigning mode to begin with unless there's a lot more hacks out for RT than I'm aware of; the SecureBoot configuration prohibits testsigning. Also, you shouldn't be getting asked for the BL recovery key unless you messed with either the bootloader or the EFI image. If you didn't do those things and are getting prompted anyhow, that reinforces the likelihood of a problem with the device storage.
This is (most likely) nothing to do with the jailbreak. If you can get your hands on a recovery drive you may be able to use it to reinstall windows, else take it back to MS and don't mention the jailbreak to them.
Or just decrypt the bitlocker volume from the recovery mode. It would be automatically reencrypted at the next boot.
To decrypt - boot to recovery with CMD, enter bitlocker recovery key, then run the command "manage-bde.exe -off c:"
this would start the decryption process and exit immediately. To check the progress - periodically type "manage-bde.exe -status". Here is the tool command line reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd875513(v=ws.10).aspx
But in the case if this is a disk corruption - I'd recommend to checkdisk it first from the recovery console ("chkdsk c: /offlinescanandfix").

BitLocker recovery key is asked on every boot into the recovery environment, otherwise it would be unable to mount the C:, at least on my device I see this behavior. It may be kept in TPM - I don't know, but my device always asks it in recovery.
Once I was able to permanently decrypt the disk so that it was not reencrypted at next windows boot - but I don't remember what I've done, and I've trashed all settings when playing with recovery USB
A fair point. But, it shouldn't *be* booting to recovery unless the button combo to do so is pressed, or that option was selected at shutdown. Typically, you would at least get a bootloader menu offering a normal bootup or a recovery session...

If the bootloader fails to load the core resources (winload.efi, ntoskrnl.exe, I believe) that are required on the system partition it should automatically boot to recovery.
Recovery
I've ran into a similar situation, when I played around with some startup options for the Surface. The only way I was able to recover was to reset the settings on the Surface. (OS Refresh) You can try the other recovery options, like system restore, or try booting into safe mode. If you can get to safe mode you can try disabling the startup of the Jail Break tool. If that doesn't work than I doubt the jail break was even related to the problem you are experiencing. (it is already highly unlikely that this is the case.)
Good luck.

Believe me I know where it is getting to. However if there is a remote possibility that the jailbreak affected the startup processes of the OS, then removing the jailbreak could revert those changes, however unlikely it is still worth attempting.
As I said the possibility is unlikely. Which is why a system restore and OS refresh are most likely the only options.

That doesn't even make sense. It doesn't boot into Windows, let alone to the point where the user can log in and the task scheduler can be initialized, so there's no way it's also booting for the two minutes it takes for the jailbreak to launch.
I received a Vivotab tf600t. When I turn it on, it goes to Preparing Automatic Repair and then goes to Diagnosing Your PC. It never gets out of this loop--Prepaing then Diagnosing. Is this due to jailbreak gone wrong? Any chance to factory reset it? TIA.

What was done before it went into this infinate loop? Chances are the Jailbreak didn't do it.
There is a way to factory reset the tablet. You will need the Bitlocker key, if you don't have it you can recover it from your skydrive. Use this url to go to the recovery keys attached to your skydrive account: http://skydrive.com/RecoveryKey (you will have to logon with the primary microsoft account for your tablet)
You should be able to get into the advanced recovery options for the tablet, some of which will allow you to reset the tablet (which wipes the tablet of everything, thus restoring it to factory defaults), or to refresh the tablet (which uninstalls programs but maintains files and documents)

Excellent piece of information.
I plan to unlock my bootloader, but not rooting the phone yet, want to see if I can live without root. But in case I find out I couldn't I don't want to wipe my device again, thus unlocking now before actually moving all my stuff over from my old Nexus.
My question is, does it have any drawback to unlock bootloader? Does it actually affect anything (besides the hyper-annoying nag screen on boot), that would make it better just to leave it locked, and do the wipe and everything only if I ever decide to actually root it? Tough decision, I'd love to hear your opinions.
Thank you!
Assuming you aren't flashing TWRP, right?
Drawbacks... Security, maybe? Can't really think of anything else. OTAs will still work, as will all the usual upsides.
Upside, you can flash the latest factory images as soon as they are released.

Yes, no flashing nothing, just a plain fastboot oem unlock, then pretending to be a basic user with a locked phone. I wonder if from the OS side anything can be perceived by apps, security/integrity checks, etc.
Yeah, then nothing in android will know, apart from the checkbox you need to enable in developer options.
Only when you change the boot or system images, does it really flag up anything. Hope that helps.
Addendum in case someone comes by this thread: unlocking makes you lose device protection features, or at least checking the box that lets you unlock does. Not sure what's going to happen with the checkbox after actually doing the unlock, will soon find out.

Not really sure what device protection does, as Android Device Manager still works.
Android Device Manager lets you remotely locate, lock, wipe, or ring your phone. So for example if someone stole your phone and you have Android Device Manager installed, you can locate it, and also lock it until the police can find it.

It may work with casual thug. Sophisticated thief will turn device off, reboot into bootloader, wipe device and take possession. Device protection is meant to discourage theft.

I'm having some difficulty getting my Mac to recognize my 5x. I am able to connect to the phone with USB debugging normally when I first plug it in. The command ./adb devices lists the phone, and I am able to use adb reboot bootloader to reboot into fastboot mode. But once rebooted, the computer loses contact with the phone: ./adb devices returns nothing. Has anyone else seen this? Got a fix? Thanks. I should also note that I have enabled unlocking the bootloader in developer options.

There are three sets of drivers needed. One for fastboot, one for adb and one for MTP. When device is in fastboot mode you use command "fastboot devices" or Mac equivalent.

This doesn't help if they get your device and factory reset it. If they factory reset it before you have a chance to lock it down then you are screwed. With device protection even when you factory reset it, it will prompt for the previous google account the phone was set up with. If your bootloader is unlocked and they are knowledgeable thieves then they can just reflash everything and wipe it out fully.
I work at Swappa and we see this all the time. Someone will sell their device, factory reset it and send it to the buyer. The buyer gets it and can't set it up because device protection was enabled and it prompts them for the previous google account info that was tied to the phone when they try to set it up

I tried using fastboot anyway, despite seeing no devices listed, and lo and behold, it worked. Bootloader unlocked for flashing.
didn't enable developer options on this phone seeing that I was primarily going to use this phone as my daily driver so I carried on using the phone as is. the next day my phone show me an error, it said "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly." (Red) and I proceeded to link it showed me to see what the problem might be.
A few minuets after it showed me that error my phone shut down and couldn't turn on. I tried everything to reboot it but to no success, I was able boot it in fastboot mode and downloaded all the appropriate tools to do a flash install of a factory default image,I got the default operating system that the phone came with, as well as adb-tools required to perform a system wide flash seeing as i didn't have that much data on it.
Once everything was set, I followed the step by step instructions that google provided me on the restore to factory setting pages "https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images". Seeing as I didn't enable developer options when my phone was working, I run into a prerequisite that needed that before I could flash my device.
While running the commands in cmd as an administrator, I run the command -
fastboot flashing unlock command and the console responded with -
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
I went back and reread this step, which was step number 4, It indicated "If necessary, unlock the device's
bootloader by running" the command. so i figured maybe it isn't really necessary, I proceeded to run the flash-all.bat
script, and it FAILED at every step saying -
FAILED (remote: device is locked. Cannot flash) //corresponding .img file//
It failed to flash my nexus 5x at every stage. So I did some research and found out that the problem was
that in the fastboot menu, the Device state was locked in a very assuring green color, and every where I
searched it indicated that this option to unlock the device was in the developer settings in the phones
OS, which is rather odd to put such a feature in the phones OS and fail to include the option in the fastboot menu. I
couldn't find any tool or assistance change the status of the device state to unlocked.
Now my question is, how can I change the device state to unlocked without enabling this options prior in the OS seeing
as i cant do that because my phone isn't coming on at all. any assistance or help would be highly appreciated.
Point of clarification, I have tried everything in accordance to what google nexus support pages have showed
me to the letter.
You can't enable OEM unlock by fastboot/recovery.
But there's another way to rescue your phone.
So
Can you boot into recovery? (Bootloader mode switch to recovery mode using volume keys and press power to choose it)
If it started and you would see an Android with an red triangle press power and hit volume+ to turn on menu. If it works you are safe.
Then download OTA image from Android developers page (OTA, not factory), launch command line (I don't know how it works on Windows, I've never flashed anything on Windows )
And you will need to flash this OTA image by executing adb sideload nameofpackage.zip
Remember to choose adb sideload in recovery first and then executing a command. It should flash and your phone should work.
Good luck!

I have the same issue mentioned above. Downloaded Nexus Root Toolkit and i have tried unlock through Nexus Root Toolkit. It seems failure. Because, After detecting my device it reboots and my phone reboots and shows the google logo and reboot again and again... My phone will not boot into recovery mode. While we click on it, it shows google logo and reboots again and again... Is there any solution for this?
OMG!!!
I Have the exact same issue with my bq aquaris x5
I really wish someone would find a solution for this
Seems options are very limited now
Having exact same issue with Huawei Y3. After spending the whole day, came to the conclusion that there is now only two options left: a) Replace the motherboard. b) pay £15 at dc unlock website to unlock oem. Not decided which one should i go for..
I got the same issue.
Nexus 5X has no activated "Allow OEM Unlock".
I tried with the Nexus Root Toolkit.
When I try to unlock Bootloader or the option "Fix Bootloop" he wants me to put the phone into Fastboot.
When I put phone into Fastboot he recognizes it and then restarts the phone. From now on nothing more happens, because noe the bootloop is "active" again.
Recovery Mode is not working, too.
Before I can access it, bootloop starts.
Sound as the same issue as @tomsonmathewv has.
Can someone help me?
EDIT:
While I tried some other solutions my Nexus 5X booted and booted.
And suddenly it booted one time to the Pattern screen. I entered the pattern and waited again for the bootloop after google animation.
But then the google animation finished and a short black screen with s small blue line in the middle of the display appeared. Looked like a "graphics error". But then immediately the normal phone idle screen appeared. The phone started!
I immediately went to the DEV-Options and Allowed OEM-unlock. And I took screenshots of the current configuration.
The current Android is 8.1
Is it recommended to flash an older version of Android to prevent a new Bootloop?
I had the same issue after the latest Android update on my Nexus 5X.
Have you left the device in charge before it manage to start?
Thanks
EDIT: Solved leaving it unplugged.

Friend of mine had this phone for a really long time. The condition of said device is nearly new (Few minor scratches here and there).
He decided not so long ago, to change his phone to newer one, so that one went to the drawer where it was for like a year or so.
He came to me a week ago with this phone, because he wanted to give it to his child as a first smartphone.
On that HTC device, after booting the system, there is a notification "Decrypt Storage" where you need to enter password to decrypt ROM memory. He said he never used any password on his device and even on new smartphone, he did not put any lock kode or pattern.
After entering any password, even with one letter, the notification says: "The password is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt" then there is a "reset phone" whitch restores smartphone to factory state.
Sadly, this doesnt work. It shows the same notification after factory reset. More like a bootloop but with a note.
I tried to hard reset it, but after i choose in bootloader "Factory reset", it takes me to main menu of bootloader and it says "Failed"
I also tried to get to the phone via USB. I installed htc usb drivers, got the binares to unlock bootloader and the fastboot option works, adb isn't.
I tried to use Fastboot factory resset command, tried also flashing TWRP recovery and nothing.
The wierd thing is, that the bootloader unlock binaries is not working as i see on the device because after "Unlocking" Bootloader, i go to the Bootloader menu and it allways says:
*****LOCKED*****
*****SOFTWARE STATUS: MODIFIED*****
*****SECURITY WARNING*****

Click to collapse
The wierd thing is, that software status was modified even when he gave me this phone to work with. He is not the type of android poweruser. I doubt that he will modify his software.
Can somone help me with some tips how to flash a new system or get this device to work? I am banging my head on the wall right now. I am out of options.
Hello!
I need help regarding a Redmi Note 8 that no longer accepts the correct pattern and is locked.
I'm looking for a solution that would allow me to either unlock my phone without data loss, or make a backup of the phone's internal storage on an sd card/pc before hard resetting.
The device is not rooted and I don't have custom recovery installed. USB Debugging is on, but my laptop is not authorized.
With Adb, the device is detected but unauthorized. It seems to be detected normally in fastboot mode. I was able to get my laptop to detect it in recovery mode by clicking on "Connect with MIAssistant" while it was plugged in, but only in sideload mode. I also somehow managed to get into safe mode, but I used the stock screen lock, so unless there's something else that can be done in that mode, it doesn't seem useful in this situation.
I tried the actual MIAssistant software but it tells me to update my device before connecting. From what I found, this is because it doesn't even work with phones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or above, so that seems to be a dead-end, unfortunately. Downloaded from here, updated to version 3.2.1.3111. If there's a newer version that could support my device, even an untranslated one, I would love to know, but I couldn't find a working one.
I had some ideas that could potentially solve my problem, but couldn't find a way to actually execute them, so here they are in case someone out there who knows more than me could help me with one of them.
1, Is there any way I could authorize my laptop for USB Debugging without being able to accept the prompt on screen?
2, Is there a way to make a backup of the internal storage of my phone in fastboot/sideload mode?
3, Is there a way to get adb to detect this device normally in recovery mode, instead of in sideload mode?
4, Is there a way to get my device into mtp/ptp mode instead of charging mode when connected to a PC without USB Debugging so I can copy my files?
5, Here's a thread I found that seems promising, although it's old. Could I somehow use this, or a similar method on Redmi Note 8? The Recovery Mode is much more limiting on this device, unfortunately, so I can't exactly follow this tutorial. Are there alternatives that can be done in adb fastboot/sideload mode, perhaps?
6, If I am forced to hard reset, is there any software out there that could recover at least some of the deleted data afterwards, or is everything lost in case of a reset?
I am open to new ideas not listed above, as well. I am not a very advanced user so I probably missed some things.
Thank you so much for any answer in advance!

Default, which doesn't have many options on Xiaomi. :/

Sad to hear that. Are there any alternative options that could solve my problem? I'd really rather not factory reset.

not as far as i know, ask in ADB thread if you find any
Updated with extra info in case anyone else has any ideas.
Even if you can copy your files to PC, they are problably unusable because of encryption.
That is why you need that pattern
For security this is exactly what you want, if your phone is lost or stolen.

Do you mean that the reason it doesn't accept the correct pattern anymore is for security? I would have thought it would still accept the correct one, at least after several tries of the same thing. Being completely locked out even when you know the correct password is a little strange to me.

Howdy bro (I also have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8).
I've been almost two intense weeks reading and watching the XDA forum, trying somehow and I did not find the way to unlock it .... Besides that I have the Bootloader disabled it makes me more difficult, because for that I need to format my phone and is what I do not want .... Already today is my last day of searching and I think I will have to leave my memories behind and Format my cell phone.
