I noticed that some of the applications for custom gesture navigation don't work on MIUI 10 on the MIX 3. Here's what I did to get it to work.
Requirements:
* ADB and Fastboot installed
* A custom gestures application - I use Edge Gestures
Notes:
* Make sure to have an alternative navigation app installed and open before doing this
* This sticks even after a cold boot
Thanks to @Rashad83 for his thread on how to hide the navigation bar.
Instructions:
1. Setup ADB
2. Navigate to ADB folder
3. Open a CMD at that folder
4. Plug in the MIX 3 and ensure it is correctly detected and authorised by typing in CMD without quotations "adb devices"
5. Type without quotations in CMD "adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-130"
6. Enable your custom navigations using the app you had previously installed
7. To return to normal type without quotations: "adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0"
Edit: Added pictures

The nav bar is visually not on screen with this adb command. It doesn't break immersive mode like some of the alternative methods.

My method works with any gesture navigation app. If you used the adb command I listed then you wouldn't need to pay to hide the navigation bar in the Fluid Navigation app.

Secondly, you are not paying for hiding the navigation bar only but for extra customizations which in my personal opinion is worth it. The reason I mention the gesture app because it takes care of many things for you instead of inputting the height values manually which are different between devices.
Anyway, no hard feelings. I wish you all the best.

As if i need to use it when i am one of many to suggest it. Anyway the reason I bring this up because here on XDA a lot of us are experienced users and we need to differentiate between the ones that are and the ones that are not when addressing them.
if you are using this command and hiding the status bar -130 is too much some buttons in apps can get cutoff at the bottom of the screen
0,0,0,-122 seems to be about right. increase or decrease as you see fit
I can't keep "clear all apps" from closing out edge gestures. Any advice? Thanks

I wrote a little app to resize the button bar on the A43/A70/A101. I've only really tested it on the A43, though I did check that it changes the virtualkeys file for the A101 and the changes looked right.
I recommend that before trying it, you back up your /system/board_properties/virtualkeys.* file.
If someone wants to donate an icon to the project (BSD license) that would be welcome.
For A101 is working flawlessly, many thanks, BTW is it possible to get auto-hide bar? Cheers

I have no idea how to do auto-hide. One can edit packages.xml to disable the bar for particular apps, but then one has no way to get out of the apps, unless they were nice enough to provide an exit button.
My suggestion is that if you play a lot of games that the buttons intrude on, you just make the buttons very small.
I added the ability to change the number, order and contents of the keys in the button bar. Unfortunately, only back/menu/home/search have button bar icons in the framework, so if you select other buttons, they will show up blank. But they should work, despite their blankness. To have fewer keys, just set some to None.
If you want to kill the button bar entirely, just set its width to zero (or else set all its entries to None).
Because of these features, the app is renamed ArchosButtons. But it's still here.
To return to the factory settings, choose "Defaults" and then "Set and reboot".

Nice work. I've removed it completely by deleting my init manually, but if I have to do it again, I'll probably use this.
I'd like to get some more test reports from A70 and A101 users. Anybody? Here's a piece of encouragement: the first two people with each of these tablets to send me a report get a free copy of the paid version of Force2SD (just email me for your copy after posting).

Filling in these icons would require changing the framework. I don't really want to do that.
A nice mod for those of us who like ebooks would be to remap the hardware volume keys to up/down, and then to add volume buttons--might be nice to extend this app to support that.
Alas, on my A43, the buttons get a little smaller than I like when I add two more. On a tablet, I can see how it might be quite useful to add buttons.
Well done!

This app resizes the back/menu/home/search buttons, but it does not change the icon size. So if you make bar too thin, the icons will be cut off.

works on urukdroid?
Actually, from my reading, it probably should be:
mount -o rw,remount /
Could you actually try that for me? Just start up an adb shell (or a terminal emulator), and do:
su
mount -o rw,remount /
Then immediately run my ButtonsForArchos.apk (current name: I decided ArchosButtons might have trademark issues).
Tried LMT Launcher and Gravity Box with expanded desktop on... I get pie but the navbar won't go away whatever I do. Do I need a custom rom?
I use LMT and Gravity Box. Have no problems at all. Had 4.7.4, 4.7.5 and now 4.7.6.
Turn on navbar settings and turn off navbar- these two steps on Gravity Box. And do not forget to turn off navi panel in phone setings after that.
I don't have gravity box installed. Any other way to solve the problem. Right now I have the navbar auto hide, but I want deactivate it. Any advice. Thanks
if you have root, just install joneplus tools from the playstore and use the new quicktile to toggle the navbar

I don't know what "navi panel" is or how to turn it off. If you mean Hide the navigation bar in Buttons, I've already tried that and the navbar doesn't actually go away.

Yeah I hid it through adb shell. If you can't find it, I can go look for the commands somewhere
JOnePlus Tools is a pretty cool app I didn't know about. So now I can turn off the navbar completely, but pie won't trigger from the bottom without it. I was reading the LMT thread and it turns out there's an issue with the latest OxygenOS... guess I'll wait for a fix.
I disabled Nav bar using jOneplustools app via new quick settings option and use this app instead. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation&hl=en_GB

I'm curious, does swipe navigation works straight away right after a reboot? When I used it I had to wait several seconds to see the toast (swipe navigation roots rights granted or something like that) and it seemed there was a little latency for each move. Now I'm using Xposed edge (require Xposed obviously) and it is functional right away
I use JOnePlusTools to disable the navbar and Unique Controls (plus the companion app) and I will never go back to LMT or any other pie nav. I admit, it doesn't take a few seconds to kick in, but it is extremely accurate and customizable. You may even be able to stop the delay by adding it as a system app and bumping up its place in the boot order.

I can't speak for everyone but personally for me it works straight away without any delay. From the moment I do a swipe up gesture the result is instant without any lag or delay at all.

For Beta 2 you may use "Hide Navigation Bar" module for magisk. Because gravitybox still not available for Android 8.0
I use it, when I moved from 4.7.6 to Beta 2. LMT works fine (all screen sides).

Hi There, using fluid navigation. It works great, no issues with the search bar or anything, its just a cosmetic thing. It looks off being so close to the edge of the screen and was just wondering if there was a way to modify the padding from the bottom of the screen in the stock launcher.
TIA

I here you but most people think more screen is better otherwise why remove the navbar in the first place.
I used the remove weather-text home screen option and it cleared text in the top column but now the space is unusable. My weather widget is only able to go to the 2nd column from the top of the home page.

Ok, I have a question. When I unzip this or your other mod installer into my platform tools folder it's asking me if I want to replace my adb file or not can u tell me if I should? I ask because when I did click replace I was unable to flash stock at a later date. I had to totally delete my tools and files and do a fresh setup.
Any option to remove only homescreen text but not for the drawer?

Sent from my crosshatch using XDA Labs
I had a friend today explaining me and insisting with confidence that you can't properly use Gestures with Android 11 outside of default Launcher because you can't disable the navigation buttons.Even after I gave him my Poco F3 with Arrow OS and Nova Launcher to prove he was mistaken, he was still skeptical. So I decided to educate the "flat earthers" of No Gesture Control with other launchers on Android 11.
Some clarifications before we begin.
1. It doesn't matter what launcher you use or what phone brand you use. It works with any brand and any launcher.
2. You need a gesture navigation app. I did not tested all apps, I only use VNG, I have saved my own gesture profiles, I am used to it, I don't care about other apps, test for yourself.
3. IMPORTANT! IF YOU UNINSTALL your preferred gesture app for good, I recommend you to re-enable Navigation Buttons before. Otherwise you will have limited navigation capability until you do.
4. This will ONLY Disable/Enable navigation buttons.
Here is how it is done. I takes 1 minute. 1. You need to have root acces and Magisk installed.
2. Search for "Navigation Bar Remover" by SageDroid module and install it. If you cannot find it, I also attached the module file here. To manually install it, after you download the file to your phone, in Magisk go to install module from local storage and select this file. After the install you will restart the phone. After restart the navigation bar will be disabled. When youdecide to Uninstall this extension, the navigation bar will be re-enabled.
Good luck
I'm using Arrow OS and Nova Launcher. Didn't install any additional apps. Never come across this gesture issue that I read a lot about.
People complain about MIUI not allowing third party launchers to have their gestures in motion. Nobody mentioned gestures not working on other roms. Flat earthers are those who didn't, don't root their phones and like to settle on MEMEUI until they die.
So, I'm pretty sure other roms will welcome any third party launcher app along with their gestures since there's the power juice of root.
There are custom ROMs witch allows to hide navigation bar without root. For example AICP and crdroid.
Then gestures apps and Nova works fine.
It's about Xiaomi having removed Gestures for Users of Third-Party Launchers in MIUI 12.
This is not about Android 11 in general.
Thanks! It worked on xiaomi.eu rom.

I've tried both apps in the past, and they are unstable AF, sometimes they just stop working till you manually open them again (even if you set it to ignore the battery consumption setting and locking the app on memory).

I am talking about hiding the Navigation Buttons and use only gestures to navigate the phone.

VNG Gestures (Vivid Navigation Gestures) is available in Playstore and the top three results on Google are about this apk.

I know, that's exactly what I'm talking about.
@Zimmster
Thanks man!!!! Searched a long time for a solution.... your post is golden.
Is it possible to hide the status bar so an application can fill the entire screen? The terminal commands I used to use on my Pixel 3 XL are no longer working
?
No
The last Magisk module I had that could change the height caused boot loops since 12.1, but even before then messing around with those settings could cause them. Google really doesn't want anyone messing with status bar on this phone apparently.
You can use this Magisk Modul for a rooted phone https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/G-VisualMod . After installation you have to activate the notch killer profile in the systems settings in developer mode section below the DPI setting.
If the app itself doesn't support fullscreen you can install https://github.com/LSPosed/LSPosed with https://repo.xposed.info/module/ru.bluecat.android.xposed.mods.appsettings . Appsettings allows to define the fullscreen mode.
Otherwise you can look for a similar app that supports fullscreen for your intended use.

I wonder if Nova Launcher has gestures to do that. I know that you can with the Dock.

I didn't see any options to hide the status bar in Nova. I am using the free version, though, so my options for gestures are pretty limited

I'm not trying to hide the status bar on my home screen. I'm only trying to hide it in applications that I might have open for long periods of time while reading posts or articles, like the XDA app, Chrome, Reddit, Tapatalk, etc.

It is possible with system ui tuner but the space occupied by the status bar is still unusable by apps. This may be a limitation with having the punch hole because my poco f2pro and oneplus 7 pro both can still go completely immersive on A12 but they are true full screen phones.

Tried system tuner ui by zachary in November when I got the phone and again just now. i'm proficient with adb and did the commands for non root and still not working for me. Works on my Note 20 Ultra on android 12.

Seems to only work on Samsung phones now days. I used either System UI Tuner or just used the ADB commands on my Note 20 Ultra when I had it and any other phone before that and it works on my Z Fold3 and my Galaxy Tab S7 but doesn't work on my Pixel 6 Pro or my OnePlus 9 Pro. I don't know if it's just how Samsung phones are setup or what. I
had read somewhere about it being something Google had removed in Android 11 but it still worked for Samsung devices. Who knows why it works on Samsung devices and not on others.
wews if there is no fix then I have to go back to A11
