try octopus app
I connected my ds4 to play via otg and it got recognized .. I can able to navigate menu using arrows and can do click or back functions using those triangle , circle , cross , and square buttons .. But when I try to connect via bt , it connected ..still remains unfunctional bcuz of Sony rejected to give mapping codes for Android !!
I have been using a bluetooth controller without a problem for a while now. I use it with the octopus controller mapping app and it works pretty well.

I've just been reading about this myself, see http://techcrunch.com/2011/11/17/ga...android-phone-into-an-xperia-play-but-better/
It's not clear at this point if this will basically behave like an Xperia Play controller or not. They mention it will work in Asphalt 5 HD, but no mention of other Play-enabled games like NOVA 2 or Aftermath XHD.
Definitely worth watching this though, if the reviews are positive and it works with all the Play-enabled games (maybe with some hacking?) it will be on my Xmas list.
A bit of a double post... but has anyone tried this?
I have tried connecting my PS3 Controller via the LiveDock but it can only work when connecting to USB Cable and not via bluetooth like the way it work with my Sony Tablet.
Guess it need the software interface which pair the controller to the device via bluetooth.
So which are the controllers able to work with our phone which has been tested?
hi mate
If you go into Bluetooth menu it gives u the Bluetooth address
U can then plug your ps3 control in to laptop and use six axis pair tool(which is free to download onto ur computer ,just google it) and you can manually change the address control address to that of the phone
Not sure if it will work without six axis app on your phone or not but is worth a try
Hope that helps

Are you just trying to connect via bluetooth? I haven't done this in a long time (way back on my Xoom) but I thought you needed a 3rd party app and Root access to link them.
Someone confirm? Would love to play Soulcraft II - with a gamepad.

Moga has an app can be downloaded from the play store (moga pivot) and yes it uses bluetooth. This should work without root. If you google moga is a big name which should work on android 2.3 and above. I think the reason is samsung which is now blocking all 3rd part devices from 4.4.2 but I am not sure. I think the only option left is the samsung gamepad..
Not for $100 bucks. That's plain crazy
I use an OTG cable and PS4 controller.

It just supports it. Yes I have rooted but I have 3 Tab Pros as well that are not rooted and it works just fine on them as well. It also worked on my Tab S before I rooted. OTG is always supported on android devices.

Did you have to download any apps for button management?
I use my ps3 controller as gamepad with an adapter and it's working flawlessly. I've tested it with Dead Trigger 2 and Rayman Fiesta Run.

If anyone gets a wired xbox controller to work, please let us know what you did. I was totally just hoping it was going to work and it doesn't. (at least for me). I just get a blinking light on the xbox controller. I have the 10.5.
I even rooted and installed USB/BT JoystickCenter Gold Demo but then that gets a 'can not get access to /dev/uinput error'

try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/orig-development/kernel-skyhigh-tw-kernel-t2806563
Thanks so much for suggesting something but I'm too anxious to try it, since that thread says it's only for the SM-T700 (8.4") and I have the 10.5". He even specifically states it in post #3.

Has anyone been able to get the sixaxis app working? I can't... I believe it has to do with a missing Samsung Bluetooth protocol in newer Samsung devices.
That was one of my main reasons for getting a tablet!
Not that it matters but I emailed Samsung support and their response: Thank you for contacting Samsung. I see that you would like to know whether Galaxy Tab S supports hooking up to a wired xbox USB controller. I do understand your concern and requirement. However, this Tablet does not support wired xbox USB controller. Unfortunately, as of now theere are no compatible controllers that use an USB OTG cable for this model from Samsung and Samsung does not have any tested results on using PS3 controller with the Tablet. I hope the above provided information address your concern.
controller recharges the tablet
is it possible to connect the controller (that has a battery pack) to the tablet and recharge the tablet?
eg. can a xbox one controller, that has a battery pack, be connected with an mhl cable/usb cable to a tablet and be used to charge the tablet? so the tablet is not drained while playing games.
(i asked this in the accessories forum too, apologies)

Thanks for the info! I just ordered an otg cable. Are you able to get two controllers working with the six axis app, or just one? My goal is to be able to use emulators with two Wireless PS3 controllers. Thanks!

I tried that, but the Galaxy Tab won't find the controllers. I've set it up on multiple devices, but couldn't get it working on this one.
I read that the newer Samsung devices don't come with a Bluetooth protocol that is required for sixaxis to work... I hope I'm wrong!
Hello,
It's possible to connect and use the PS4 controller on a HTC 10 please ?
When I activate the Bluetooth, I can connect to my controller (Wireless Controller), but my controller does not work. Nor in Android, or in a game.
A solution ?
I use HTC 10 with the ROM Ice 1.0.2.
No one knows how ?

Got can try the six axis pair tool, can't see why it wouldn't work. Personally use the moga. I'll be testing that tomorrow in work [emoji106]
Haven't ever tried the ps4 pad but it should work.
Try the pair tool to see if it's functional before buying the app.
The MAC address needs to be changed, Google six axis. Originally based on the Ps3 pad.

I have tried bluetooth via the sixaxis route (changing the MAC address to match my phone) and I have tried verified to be working USB-C OTG cables (USB thumb drives work fine via the cable on the HTC10) and both seem to connect to the dual shock 4 (bluetooth connects and lists it as a controller and when using the OTG cable the DS4 connects and starts charging) but none of the controller buttons do anything. I'm not sure where to go from here... Maybe it's missing a generic and controller specific key layout file but I am not sure, I'll have to dig deeper once I root.

The six axis app, that does require root doesn't it? Can't remember it's been a while. Moga kind of took over.
I've got a long day in work today with little to do, so will have a go myself.

The sixaxis app (that requires root) does not work on Marshmallow. I was referring to the sixaxis pairing tool which doesn't have anything to do with root. Both the pairing tool and OTG methods work on my Nexus 6 for the DS4.
I test with a Nexus 5 (Android 6.0.1) : not work
But work with a Wiko Rainbow 4G (Android 4.4.2).
Tried the app, didn't work. Couldn't connect the controller either, will stick with me Moga

So I'm not the only one to meet this concern. Must now find a solution.
Anyone knows how can i connect my Dualshock 4 to my Oneplus 3? I tried both Bluetooth and via OTG but non of two works. I used sixaxis controller app and im stucked at "Listening Controllers" what should i do? Please help
You need to change the Bluetooth Connection of the Controller to the Bluetooth Adress of your Smartphone, to do so, connect your Dual Shock 4 Controller via USB to your Computer/Laptop, download and install "SixaxisPairTool".
Edit: also your device if i remember right needs to be rooted for it to work aswell.
Hello, I've recently bought a PS4 controller and I successfully paired it with my phone but the problem is that it doesn't detect any key presses... I've tried the same controller on PC and another phone (running Android KitKat) and it's working fine.
Is this a software issue? How can I fix it? Have anyone tried this too?
Up. Anyone could test this with at least any Bluetooth controller? I heard that s10 had a similar issue and it got solved by an update.

Most devices just don't have the keylayout files for controllers. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to make them work.
If you have magisk, there's a module called 1controller which you can just install to get that file.
If you don't, I also have the specific file you need to get into /system/etc/keylayout, but obviously, you're gonna need root for that.
I'm having the same problem too.
can you please upload a link
my gamesir g4 works fine

The default connection via bluetooth using Playstation controllers doesnt work. Or it doesnt fully work at least. I have experienced it on my ps3 and PS4 controller. The only way a controller works is from a Bluetooth Controller made for Android. Or if you really want to use PS controller, you need an app called Sixaxis Controller.
If your phone is not rooted, the only way to do it is by using sixaxis and connect the PS controller directly via Wire. The sixaxis for the wired and wireless are different so dont buy it on the playstore right away
If you have rooted Access, then you can connect it wirelessly bia the sixaxis app.
Only then it will work as it should be.
The thing is, it actually works with my low-end tablet. So why not with this expensive phone?
Works fine with my Xbox One controller. Son uses it to play minecraft...

Actually, after September update, I just tried to controller again and it's perfectly working through bluetooth.
Xbox One controller works fine via bluetooth, buttons are already mapped.

I dont know what tablet it is but it might be a feature of the tablet. Ps4 controllers have D-Input mapping while android works natively with X-input controllers. Xbox controllers work right away as it works under X-Input
Sixaxis converts that input to a readable input for the android if youll use a ps4 controller.
Edit: good that you had it working.
