Microsoft Launcher? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Is anyone using Microsoft Launcher on the S9?
I have been using it and its pretty good but I am running into a very frustrating issue: my wallpaper has a light background, and the status bar is not showing up against this background because its in a matching font. I cannot find anywhere to change this setting and its really problematic.
Even the stock launcher is able to address this by making the icons dark against a light background, so I cant imagine Microsoft Launcher cant address it, and yet I have not found away.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Why would you want to infect your Android with Microsoft?
Microsoft can't even code their own OS properly
Do yourself a favour and install Nova Launcher

[Q] launchers

I'm not going to ask which launcher or anything like that. I already have one in mind if I do decide to go that route.
What I want to know is if they are worth it or not? Do they slow the phone down at all? As it seems as an overlay to an overlay.
I see some, like nova, have a add-on for unread counts for messages and calls and things. Is this saying that without this add-on I won't have a count for missed messages or a notification at all?
Thanks you for the input

In comparison to the stock LG launcher you'll find you'll actually have a smother experience. Launchers like holo or nova are really light weight and have a smaller footprint in memory than the stock launcher. When you choose a new launcher as default the lg launcher is closed. Or at least resources are being prioritized to the default launcher. I'm a beginner when it comes to how android handles processes so maybe someone else can offer a better explanation. The addons for nova add unread counts to icons on homescreens, app drawer and folders. You'll still get all notifications through the status bar. Its just eye candy and extras you get for the paid version of the launcher.

Won't hurt to check out other launchers. If you dont like them simply uninstall and your back to where you were
ADW is old school and basic, I prefer that. Holo is decent so is Apex, but my go to is always Nova. They're all fun to play with.
It's worth it. I use Nova and it's faster and has more organization and customization options than stock LG or AOSP. Just the speed and being able to hide apps from the app drawer is worth it for me. For reference, Nova runs way faster on my Nexus 7 than the JB launcher.
lots of good options. Nova is a great one, but I like Apex and Holo.
To answer your question, if you don't install extensions, then you won't have the message count on the app icon, but that's all it does. I personally don't like it, so I have never installed it.
Honestly though, if you aren't a "power user" who likes to tinker with all of the options in the launcher, Apex, Holo and Nova are all very similar.
Can someone explain the dock as overlay option? Isn't the dock always visible on the home screen?

Default, the dock is basically an extra row of icons ON the desktop, that carries over from screen to screen.
Dock as overlay changes your dock to being a row of icons that is on a layer separate from your desktop. As an example, you can turn this on and turn on a slide up gesture to toggle dock, which would give you a kind of mini app drawer on top of the desktop. If you did not turn this on, toggling dock would bump your desktop icons up and down, as it would then be a part of the desktop and not be a layer on top of it.

[Q] Nova resetting custom icons

Hi all!
I'm using paid Nova Launcher, and since a couple of mounths, I'm facing a strange behavior with my custom icons.
I'm changing all the icons in the drawer and the desktop with icons I've made. I change them manually, one by one, as I don't know how to build an iconset.
The point is, everytime an app is updated, its icon is resetted to stock one. This I can understand, even if its a pain...
But the Nova settings icon, the google setting one, and the stock messaging one are resetted randomly, and I can't understand why.
So is it a normal behavior in Nova, and is there a way to avoid icons to be resetted?
Thanks for your help.

How do I change the icons since the regular apps such as Icon changer don't allow ?

Hi,
I have a big issue with the fact that I can't change the app icons to the ones i want. If I try to use apps like Icon changer, i am warned that "Your launcher may not support creating shortcut via Icon changer ", hence I am not allowed to do so. How can i fix this ? I don't want to install icons from certain icon packs, I want to change them with specific pngs.
Thank you in advance,
Liviu
Use a 3rd party launcher, like Nova. Or wait for the developer to update Icon Changer. The phone has only been available for a few days, and I suspect a number of apps will need to be updated to support it.
I am surprised about the small icon size when you put a few icons in a folder. I change the resolution to HD+ but that makes them no much bigger.
Pixel 2 launcher show's much bigger icons using folders but I like somehow the stock launcher.
Any ideas how to make the icons in folder look bigger?

At first I was not that happy with Nova but.....
I found a backup for the S9 and did import and hat to tweak it a bit.
Here a screenshot of the touchwiz and one of the Nova launcher.
Touchwiz is the first thing I dump on a tablet or phone and I've used Nova since it first came out. Lately though I've been using Microsoft Launcher (formally Arrow) and like a lot if it's features.

Display in small mode launcher visual issue

Hi!
Just got my global Nokia 6.1. The only issue I have, is that when I switch to small mode, the icons on the launcher get too small with much space between them.
The preview seems quite alright, but the launcher is actually different. Below screens of expectations vs reality.
Has anyone a way to fix icon sizes with the native launcher
Cheers
Well, went for Lean Launcher, which has 6 columns in small mode for now.

Question Bottom Edge Stroke Switch Application

Has anyone managed to get third party apps to work with the mentioned?
I can't seem to use any thirdparty launcher apps to swipe left or right to switch applications and it's honestly bothering me alot.
I've also tried using quickswitch+lawnchair but seems like lawnchair doesn't work for our ROM, keep getting some java permission error.
At this rate I wish a custom rom would be available quick so I can just get off this horrible OS..
Been trying the same since I got mine, it only works with the nubia launcher, i kinda get used to pull the background apps and move through it when I need to switch. Definitely it’s a funny os this one
Same problem...
But I want to switch the launcher only to change the icons to the circles, maybe someone knows how to do that in nubia launcher?

Maybe with pix material you? I'm not sure if it changes the icons shape though, I think lawn chair does that for me...
