December Update Installation Issue. - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi All,
Device Was Forcefully Updated On Android Pie Through Vpn.
Now, Today I Received 85.3 MB December Update But Unable To Install It, As I Never Unlocked The Bootloader And Never Rooted Device Too.
In Addition To That, I Have Done Factory Reset and Restart My Mobile So Many Times But Issue Is Still Exists.
Please Help Me What To Do In This Case.
Screenshot Attached.
Thanks,
MUHAMMAD Asif Qasim

Do a clean install, download fastboot 9.11 ROM and flash it un miflash, ten u will get ota to pie (1gb) and after all make a factory reset

Will MIFlash Tool Process Void Warranty ? And Bootloader Will Be Unlocked ?
Please Elaborate.

Hi All,
Is There Any Update...
Please Help...Thanks In Advance.

I dont know about warranty but its the only way you can do it. Because you may have one system change that breaks the ota. However i dont think it will void warranty because its not a thing that triggers anything on the phone that recognizable

Same here, please help me, how flash without unlock bootloader? and where can i found original rom? (french)

You can't flash with a locked bootloader but you can lock it after flashing. There are threads here and in the MIUI forum that have stock roms available to download.

Ok thx, all people have used vpn for Pie are blocked for future update..... Nice

Ppl who have used vpn aren't blocked. I just got the update today. The ones blocked might have changed something in system or even rooted at one point

Maybe use the vpn method again to get this update. I'm in Brazil and had no problems, so maybe try vpn with location set to Brazil or Indonesia again. That's all I can think of

Okay, get firmware 9.6.9 version and flash to downgrade using Mi Flash, click on flash all bat and lock.
The SIM 1 will stop working. Put a single sim in slot two.
Now reset phone (not from recovery) and check for update.
At this point, the November update should pop up, about 250MB, and subsequently Android pie update.
The second son slot will start working after Android pie update.
This is based on my personal experience.

No, it will not void warranty. U'll have to unlock bootloader to use MiFlash but when u open it, it has an option to automatically relock bootloader after flashing ur phone

Nexus 7 OTA update fail

Hello guys this is my first post here. My Nexus 7 2013 WiFi gives me an error when updating from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2. My tablet isn't rooted and the bootloader is locked. I know it's easy to flash a stock rom but the problem is my charging port is faulty and cannot connect to pc. I would really appreciate your help and sorry if this post is in the wrong place.
Welcome mrboom97. What's the error? Has the bl been unlocked before?
Unfortunately without a PC connection this issue may be unresolvable.

Yes it has been unlocked before, and it just says error. And now I tried unlocking it and rooting which both succeeded and installed twrp recovery but it gives me error 7 when trying to flash. I believe that it may be unresolvable but thanks anyway

I suspect I have a broken TWRP for Android 4.4.4, the stock firmware of the phone. I downloaded the most popular one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-820/general/htc-desire-820-root-easily-t2913064) and didn't realise it wouldn't work with Lollipop. Since then, I have not been able to use HBOOT on bootloader or boot in Recovery mode. And just tonight I attempted to flash the linked TWRP but it didn't work. It just did what it always does when I hit Recovery - boots into Fastboot. Can you help?

The phone is a HTC Desire 820, single sim, Android version 5.0.2. I made the dumbass decision to root it and after trying to update android and almost bricking it, I would like to return it to stock. I have TWRP 2.8 i believe... I am in over my head here tbh...

[DOWNGRADE] Android 8.1 to 8.0

Hello Guys,
First sry for my bad English im from Germany
Today i have downgraded my Google Pixel 2 XL 8.1 (DEZ. PATCH) to 8.0 (SEP. PATCH)
I know this isnt possible but i do it.
Here is what i do:
First i search here in the Forums a fix for the multitouch Bug since 8.1, i try all methods but nothing have work for me...
So i try to downgrade my Pixel 2 xl from 8.1 to 8.0 with the official Factory Image Files from Google but it isnt work for me because my Phone say (after i try the OTA Update via sideload) that i have already an newer Version of Android installed.
So what to do?
I Install the latest Factory Image from Google (8.1 Jan.Patch)
After the Install i stoped the First Start of my Phone and Go Back to bootloader, than i try to Lock my bootloader via ADB. After the Lock i See an Message in my Phone Like "there is noch System installed on your device, device cant Start" Or something Like that.
Now i Boot Back to bootloader and unlock my Phone again but that error stay there and my Phone will not Boot.
I think OK there noch System installed on my Phone now and maybe i can flash the factory Image from the Google Developer Site.
I downloaded the First Image File "8.0.0 (OPD1.170816.010, Sep. 2017)
Booted my Phone to bootloader and run the Script "flash-all.bat"
The installation finished without any errors and my Phone booted without any Problems.
I think "OK cant be" but i Go to settings and Check the Android Version i have installed, and i See im Back to Android 8.0.0
Ok

So, tell us how you're supposed to downgrade from 8.1 to 8.0? Especially since Google added safeguards to prevent this. Maybe I'm missing something, but to my knowledge it's not 'supposed' to be possible.

Yes. I don't know the details of Google's anti rollback measures, but I don't think they were meant to apply to unlocked bootloaders. Google allows bootloader unlock to be friendly to developers who probably want to test their apps on different firmware versions. What would be the point of locking them out of various firmwares? In fact, what's the point of an unlockable bootloader at all if you're going to still put restrictions on flashing?
The reason why the OP thought he needed to find out a clever downgrade method was because he was trying to use an OTA to downgrade. OTAs never allow downgrading, and I don't think they ever have. This is nothing new. The factory images, however, will always work as long as both "fastboot flashing unlock" and "fastboot flashing unlock_critical" have been performed beforehand with the latest version of fastboot.

Sorry to answer hours after but I didn't got any notifications...
So, download,
platform tools : https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Latest 7.1.2 build : https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/bullhead-n2g48c-factory-45d442a2.zip
Then exctract the content of the 7.1.2 build in the platform tools folder then connect you smartphone to your PC in bootloader mode (vol down + power button).
Finally in the platform tools folder you will find a file named flashall.bat, simply execute it and you are done, your device will be on stock 7.1.2
PS: This guide was done assuming you know how to lock and unlock your bootloader if not...tell me ? (kidding happy to help ? ).

NOTE : unlocking bootloader will erase all your data!!!
NOTE 2 : If you lock your bootloader without the factory image flashed you will brick your device so no more usable!!!!! So personnaly I don't recommand you to do that because you don't need that to return on Android 7 it's just a "security" for your data.
NOTE 3 : read this guide too because it's more complete and what you are going to do is a bit risky(I speak for locking bootloader) , really! Don't want a message saying "you forgot this line, my device is lost ? ...".
So let's start fun things ?
Go in developer options and enable oem unlock and USB debugging.
Then reboot in bootloader mode and connect your device to your computer.
After that open the prompt command from the extracted platform tools folder by right clicking in this folder with the maj key down.
In this command windows write the following line:
fastboot oem unlock
Or .\fastboot oem unlock if your are on windows 10 (windows is blue instead of black).
When the bootloader is unlocked you can flash a custom recovery then instal a ROM/kernel or flash the factory image.
When you have flashed the factory image (stock ROM...) you can lock the bootloader with this line(same method)
fastboot oem lock (add .\ for windows 10).
Tell me if you need further help ? .

I have read comments from developers to advice users whose apps are not functional that the devices should not be rooted and generally should be stock.
Anyways..I will think it again if I continue to the procedure..
PS: I hate the layout of oreo..these white (like LG) squared app icons are simply terrible!

Android layout can be changed easily and having latest Android security offer security and latest features and performances patchs, anyway it's your decision.

Just keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader and flashing the original rom will NOT result in a rooted phone. If you do the this and relock the bootloader, then your phone will be in a totally stock NON ROOTED state. So any concerns that you have regarding root don't apply here.
I am still on 7.1.2 too because of the performance/lag issues in 8.1
... I never upgraded... Is it still really that bad in 8.1 ? Or better with latest patches?

Hi,
my device got bootlooped. Warranty expired 20 days ago and the cost was too high to repair.
So, I followed an online tutorial, flashed my phone and came back to life.
The issue is that the bootloader is unlocked and I cannot use android pay (it says that the device is somehow altered)
Although banking apps work normally.
Is it ok to relock the bootloader?
(what if the device get bootloop again? / is it possible to brick my device? / could I use another way to bypass and activate android pay?)
Thanks

Firstly let me tell you that I am assuming that you have flashed an official stock rom, if you didn't then just ignore what I am saying!
I never heard of anyone bricking the device just by locking the bootlader. The worst thing that can happen is to get a bootloop indeed, but if you just unlock the bootloader again then it should be fixed. Bricking the device just by locking the bootloader sounds totally impossible to me at least. I don't know if there is another way to bypass this and activate android pay but even if there is personally I will not have trusted it.

Android 10 Has Begun Rolling Out For The Moto One Vision In Brazil!

This time it's the real deal and not a beta/mfn version.
The update comes bundled with the January 2020 Security Patch and has the build number QSA30.62-24
As usual, the update is rolling out in batches... As by far, only users of the first batch of devices have received the OTA update.
The other batches (02/2019 and so on...) are still waiting in line.
My phone's batch is 06/2019... So I'll have to wait a little more
EDIT: As Of Today, January 13 2020, the OTA update, versioned QSA30.62-24 is out for All Users of the Motorola One Vision In Brazil using the Retail Software Channel (RETBR).
I just updated my phone and did a hard reset to start clean.
how do you know which batch is your phone?

This time it's the real deal and not a beta/mfn version.

Look at the decal on the side of the box, which shows the IMEI numbers... Below there is a text saying "Date:" -- The following number after "Date" is your phone's batch number.
Is it not possible now to somehow download it an apply it yourself manually for your phone?

It is, but someone would have to capture the OTA Zip file first and upload it on the web.
Hope someone here does

I have downloaded it. But Am afraid of doing something wrong and bricking my phone.
As this is an original image I presume I can flash it without unlocking the boot loader right?

From Lolinet's mirror. However I tried opening it in RSD Lite. No Go. Gives an error.
Image seems to be corrupt. Luckily I didn't do anything to my phone.

Did you try redownloading it? Would you be able to send the mirror link as I couldn't get the website to even find an update for me

Yes I downloaded it a second time. Both times RSD gave an error.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/kane/official/RETBR/ -- Mirror Link
Its the last file there.
But I do advise caution.

If the file were fine because I have the xt1970-3 will that cause any issues? I don't wanna flash it if it kills my device, even if I can return it

Alright thanks, how long do you reckon it'll take before the XT1970-3 will get the update anywhere so it could be flashed?

That's wrong. I've flashed retbr and retin to my xt1970-3 without problems.
Bootloader unlocked though.
Now I've just updated to A10 and I can say that I got it rooted with same method as on pie, so twrp and magisk still works.
