I have QCN backup of Mi Max 3 phone but I don't have EFS backup. And I lost EFS partitions. When I restore QCN backup to my phone, I can see IMEI numbers but phone cannot connect to GSM network. What can I do for my phone to connect GSM network again?
Thanks for help

Can you send us a link to your QCN file?I really need it to fix unknown baseband, and sometimes my Mac address is 02:00:00:00:00 ,and sim cards rarely work. I will not use your imei,i will change it to one that's written on my box. You can overwrite it with zero's also.

Tell me exactly what happened to your phone. QCN will not solve your problem. If you use single SIM slot, there is a workaround and you can't use SIM1 and you can't use TF card slot, because SIM2 and TF card slot share slot.

I bought it second hand, with original box and working IMEI. Sometimes it has valid Mac address, and IMEI,but randomly (sometimes after restart) Mac address becomes 02:00:00:00 and IMEI is 0.Also when WiFi is working, after i switch it off,it won't turn on anymore(the switch is coming back to off state).I can post a link with screenshots and videos describing the issue.I tried flashing fastboot global ROM,but problem persisted. Also, baseband version is unkown.I think that EFS partition is corrupted, and i hope to fix it by flashing someone's working QCN file, while replacing both IMEIs with ones that came on the box.
Thank you for responding, and sorry for bad English.

EFS partitions seems to be corrupted. Restoring QCN will not help. You need to find original EFS and restore.
If you can't find original EFS, you may try this but it may not solve your problems:
1) Backup current EFS partitions
2) Backup QCN with QPST
3) Change IMEI 1 as 0 inside QCN file, IMEI 2 as original IMEI 2
4) Erase EFS partitions
5) Reset phone to factory defaults
6) Check if IMEI is null
7) Restore modified QCN with QPST
8) Reboot phone
9) Check IMEI numbers
10) Check baseband
11) Use SIM 2 slot, don't use SIM 1 slot
I hope this will help

No,i tried everything besides restoring EFS and doing a EDL flash. I haven't found anyone who could send me their valid EFS backup, but I don't think this will solve the issue as it didn't on @DoYouWantFriesWithThat phone.I went to some local phone repair shops and they said that they're 90% sure it's a hardware issue. One thing i noticed is that it works a lot better on MIUI Global 10.0.1.0(OEDMIFH) than any other ROM,but it's just my observation. Ill try tonight to heat it's sgl around 80-90 degrees Celsius and see if it makes a difference (the guy at repair shop recommend it to me).

Thanks! @ghost baby please leave an update if you get any results. I will also keep trying things!
@ghost baby by the way, i did try doing a EDL flash, and that didn't fix anything. I think EDL flash doesn't touch EFS partition so it is still corrupt. For me restoring a EFS partition is the only alternative left.

I done Exactly all Steps.Modified a QCN BAckup from Friends Phone via Hex-Edit and Imei Calculator....
Also i tryed Flashing NON-HLOS.Bin and persist.img....
Tryed with EFS Backup from Same phone from a friend....
And flashing original China and Global ROM...i really tryed all what i found in Google....
QPST helped me to get my IMEI and Baseband back.
But Sim was not working.I tryed much hours all things.... i sended it back .they tryed it with EDL-Mode Flashing and nothing happend.
It endet that the Device is shipped to China (guarantee)....
I lost my Baseband and Imei after flashing Custom Kernel .And went back to normal Kernel....then the problem was still Present.
I tried heating it's motherboard with hair dryer and it haven't worked. I think that persist and NON-HLOS.bin are flashed using fastboot rom. It seems like hardware issue, and I'll be selling my phone for replacement parts. I don't have more energy and time to spend on this crap.
For all of you having issues,i fixed it. I removed it's motherboard completely(also i removed cameras and front flash rubber),and put it on aluminum foil and left it in the 200° heated baking oven for exactly 8:30 minutes. And after that, turned heating off and left oven opened and board in there to allow it to cool down about 40 minutes. After booting ,the phone connection worked and allowed me to OTA update from Global Stable 10.3.5.0 PEDMIXM to Global Stable 11.0.6 PEDMIXM that just came out.
I think that the heating fixed the problem, and i advise you to it as last resort,as it may leave your motherboard unusable.
First try to flash global stable 10.3.5.0 and update it to the latest version, and please tell me your result so i can indentify what the problem was.
Thanks for your support so far.sglg

I'm going to try your method as my last resort. Will update. Keep your fingers crossed
Do you have a Xiaomi service center nearby? This happened to me last time and they just factory flashed my phone so it was like the first time it came out of the box. Luckily had my warranty still at that point. Else, it would have been around $35. They didn't mind that the phone is rooted and whatnot.

Hi,
I've got two N7100, both were running PA 3.60. I flashed a stock ROM (prerooted) and it went fine, until I couldn't get attached to network. I later figured out that the IMEI is now 0499... which is not the real one. The operators in my country does not allow unidentified IMEI's to connect, so it is currently stuck in emergency calls. I've done the same on an old N7000 last week but did not face this issue...
I searched around and found two fixes. One of them including a hex editing of the nv_data.bin but the lines did not match with the ones in the procedure. The other is about backing up /efs/, deleting it and restoring it based on .nv_data. However, the file does not exist in the backup, and I've checked few other N7100, the file does not exist.
I am downloading a stock recovery firmware meanwhile, maybe flashing the radio might help. Meanwhile, did anyone face this before and managed to fix it? (aside from sending it to samsung service center?)
Something similar happened to me while flashing with mobile Odin, but I didn't have ANY IMEI or baseband, anything connected with radio. ANd it was solved by flashing the same ROM from Odin (not mobile odin!). After that experience I did EFS backup

Stay calm, you dont need to send your mobile back to samsung.
You sure has been flashed the latest samsung stability update rom.
The kernel of new base stock firmware will modified your efs, after efs being modified, you phone only can match with DMF1 AND DME4 modem. And you must be on stock kernel as well.
Please go android development and find the thread related to this method.
Dont worry mate...you will be fine.

this is what I am trying now... the phone was on XEO latest before installing PA and the stock I flashed after PA is older (DMB2).
I did mess with the /efs/ folder trying other methods before I found out about what you mentioned. Anyway, I am currently downloading DMF2, we'll see how it goes.
The same problem here, I have a folder called efs_backup contain 2 .tar.gz "efs_19Jun2013-2324.tar.gz" "efs_19Jun2013-2328.tar.gz" and I don't know what to do with them, Help plz
Problem solved. I flashed the firmware N7100XXDMF2_N7100OLBDMD2_XME using ODIN PC and follow the below using root explorer:
- copy /efs/ to the sdcard
- delete /efs/
- reboot (after reboot I got the yellow recovery mode window floating over, no lock screen, and pressing power button turns the phone off directly)
- /efs/ will be autocreated again. copy the efs folder from the sd card to / (root explorer will tell you that the folder already exists and it will merge them)
- reboot
PS: I did not have an /efs/ backup before applying the above.

How did your problem occur? Is your IMEI 0499....? or blank?
first I did a full wipe cache, and wipe factory reset, both with CMW6, after that I tried to install N7100XXDMC3_N7100OJVDMC1_N7100XXDLK7 with odin, and when I saw the IMEI, I was shocked by 0499, I was really shocked because I kept starring at the IMEI for about 3 min
---------- Post added at 02:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:01 PM ----------
Finally, IMEI returned, I flash it with N7100XXDME6_N7100OXXDMF1_XEH, and It's all good, I can't understand this EFS thing, what is it and where is it stored and is it related with hardware or software, and how, after it's lost, it can return normally like nothing happened? my mind will blow up
From what I understand is that the latest modem updates modifies your /efs/ which holds the IMEI (this is probably hard coded somewhere). If you flash an older firmware with an older radio, it won't be able to read the /efs/ with its new modification. Therefore, it shows the 0499... IMEI.

Your problem was having "blank" EMEI? Cause I have a real EMEI but I can't make calls and I don't have 3G (internet)... Maybe this is the same problem?

I can't connect to mobile signal (internet and can't make calls) but my EMEI seems to be fine... Should this help too?
I had the wrong IMEI which starts with 049... In my country, every IMEI is linked to the SIM card, so with the 049 IMEI it didn't allow me to connect to the network. If you're IMEI number starts with 049, then you need to apply the above.

UPDATE: Not working. I followed the steps but the new ES FILE EXPLORER overwrites it not merge.

it was on 4.1.1 and everything was working fine.
i thought why not restore my omega rom nandroid from my white note and simplify everything, but when i did that there was no network and no imei.
then i thought i should odin it. as i didnt have any odin file available with me at that moment i flashed the 4.3 leak odin. there was an imei but and there was signal but not of my provide just emergency calls only.
imei was different from the original one which was there.
please tell me what to do.
I dont have an efs backup.
please help me out as i am without network from past 3 hours and its very important number.
Yaar its clearly mentioned in every rom thread-take an efs backup before flashing..and the first thing to do after rooting is efs backup..
यह तो वही बात हो गई। आ बैल मुझे मार
Ok to the topic-
You should flash stock India rom asap through odin..it should fix the problem
BTW its really strange that a cwm backup CHANGED the imei..in worst case it says-null or 0049,but doesn't changes the original! What's ur imei number?is it null or 0049?

After CWM it showed null
the after that i odined it to stock 4.3 leak.
then i am getting some different imei but network isnt coming of my provider airtel
I had this happen to me some time ago.
I flashed a rom ,and because I had a noandroid backup i thought I was safe.
But I didnt back up the EFS, (I have learned from that mistake).
My IMIE number changed to a generic one.
In the end after trying absolutely everything, including getting the guy in the dodgy phone shop to give it his best shot, nothing worked.
Its sad cause, wifi , camera and everything worked but without the iemi number calls and messaging and mobile internet were gone forever.
I sold it on ebay as it was for spares. This recovered some of the cash and I just went and bought another.
I sincerely hope you have better luck than I did, and you like me, will never not backup your EFS folder again.

Was ur phone under warranty?
Sent from my AweSoMe ?♥Note2♥?
I had no warranty, and I doubt if that would have saved me either.
With a changed IEME number Samsung wont help you, (they had no interest in helping me).
There was a service centre guy I spoke to and he said he could try returning the rom to normal for fee, but he had no confidence that that would work.
I tried odin, different roms etc etc, the phone shop guy had the phone for 36 hours.
He wanted to fix it just to beat the IEME number and said he had succeeded on an S4.They tried all their ways and nothing.
Like i said, I wish you luck but without EFS backup you will be lucky. When all this happened to me I read all there was to read and nothing could fix it
If you don't have the EFS backup then just flash stock rom 4.1.2 and take it to the service centre if are under warranty if not still they will fix it for free, If not then search some one in your town with Z3X/nspro box and he/she can fix it in 2 minutes.
Your imei sv is 01? If yes just install 4.1.2, backup efs, install kernel adam or predpill and ariza patch. If still whitout network restore efs, reboot and enjoy.

I guess these are the steps he done..
1. Nandroid Backup on OLD Device on SD card
2. Inserted SD card on New Phone
3. Flashed Philz recovery on new phone
4. Restored old phone Nandroid Backup on New Phone.
5. IMEI got null
6. Flashed 4.3 leak
7. Got imei but network showing emergency call only
8. Install adam kernel and use ariza patch and then flash modem
9. After flashing ariza patch got 00499 imei and then flashed mg1 modem and got the imei back
10. Still emergency call only
11. Flashed 4.1.1 XXALIE rom
13. Now IMEI is 0049*
I wonder how he was able to restore cwm backup from another phone to his new phone ? Why the md5 mismatch not shown

yes exactly
i dont know what to do now
Bro, seriously this is what almost happened to me yesterday with my S II. Always make an EFS backup.
Anyway, since you've tried pretty much everything, I guess you could sell it for parts or as a mini Galaxy Tab
Have you tried a different SIM?
Also, try taking yours out, rebooting the phone. Put it on Flight Mode. Power off once again. Put the SIM back in. Turn Flight Mode off, go to Network selection and try to manually choose Airtel.
Good luck.

Learn from your mistake now. Dont do dirty flash. Well try to search imei. I was reading on any other way for you try. Lots of guide there.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
But its really a strange situation that how can a rom change the imei(null/wrong imei in worst case)?
Sent from my AweSoMe ?♥Note2♥?
solved
got everything cleared out....was charged just 200 bucks by a local vendor for imei repair and everything works fine.....my everything got corrupt as i flashed nandroid of another device onto mine....now i made efs backup first so that this isnt done again
he said that good you didnt do much after it was done.....too many changes in modem and baseband would have led to baseband corruption and then i would have to change the motherboard
now i am enjoying my super awesome note 2 as we speak
I got a rooted G3 D850 from a guy, and flashed Cloudy 2.2. 3G is not working when I select WCDMA from network mode even all the APN setting s are correct. As soon as I select WCDMA, the mobile signals disappear. I had D850 in past and never had this issue over cloudy or any ROMs. What might be the issue, maybe some messed with hidden menu (3845) settings?

Check your EFS data.
IMEI # should not read 0
NV data could also be corrupt.
In that case you have to research how to get it back to normal or pay a shop to repair it back for you.
Back to stock .tot or .kdz flash wont fix this problem.
Neither will a factory reset.
Always backup your EFS data especially when your phone is healthy and everything's working normally!

Actually I was not expecting that the values would be affected by using the hidden menu to fix my network to LTE only. I later changed it to sort of GLOBAL (GSM/WCDMA/LTE) but that didnot fix it.
I then backup my EFS and tinkered with hidden menu and i was successful in bringing back LTE, however, I am stuck with no 3g. I guess I will need to work with QPST and QXDM now. I am now making a second backup with EFS tool.
I just thought it wouldnot go too far that I will need to JTAG it.
Imei is fine. Just need to see NV values and would update!
UPDATE :
Strangely all the NV values are right. I restored my EFS to old state (I have two backups). The LTE is gone again. (this was immediately after LTE and 3g were gone) while flashing other EFS does enable back LTE. So it is all in the hidden menu!
I tinkered with LTE again in hidden menu and it is working again.

1. go in backup tab
2. select all partitions
3. Select 3 partitions
backup modem, modemst1 and modemst2 and upload it for me so I can try to restore the settings to see if that works.
You will need root and busybox installed.
Many thanks!
Thats awesome!
Glad you got it working quickly.
Took me a week with my G2 trying to figure it out since most of the guides didn't fix my problem 100%
It would fix then 3 minutes later I'd lose 3G & 4G again
I had to find a QCN file load that and then work with both QPST and EFS Pro to get it working.
Needed all #s to correct it.
Mine finally fixed when the MEID was corrected as well.
That was weird bc I dont ever remember changing it the first
Place!

Cheers mate but actually , 3g is not working. Could you get me the two files / QCN etc for me to flash on my device ?
Not EFS because that has device specific information as well.
I would be really glad if you can mate!
Many thanks!

Thanks alot for guiding me in the right direction. Restoring QPN file really helped via QPST > Software Download Mode > Restore QPN.
However, the qcn file you mentioned is for another device!
QCN file must be device specific.
Good Luck to all of you and this is going to be a reference in case someone wants to fix their QPN (updating the link below)

Hello everyone,
I post here because i have a problem with my find7.
After a bad flash of Nameless OTA, my phone don't boot.
He was bricked but i have found an unbrick tool on >community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=23067&extra=#post-308276OppoForum.
This worked great and my phone boot on ColorOs 1.2.5i.
At this time, an error message in notification show OPPO_NV_BACKUP. The NV partition is invalid.

I have make *#268# and in the engineer mode, calibrations statut, all it's -1.
In nv parameters, just calibration NV Backup file manual check failed. All is succeded.
go back to oppo forums or goolge and look for their unbrick tool. it should be a program with chinese characters. if you know what you are doing then connect wait and reboot. the rom installed should be a stock version of color os. if for any reason you are having issues with storage or connectivity try these steps. try re partitioning the device. if you can not do this try downloading an update 2.x.x ( side load it if you cant access storage or copy and paste to root of phone storage ) when you flash this itll give you the newer recovery with the option to merge the partition or not. at this step i would suggest doing a partition switch so sd card wont be an issue again. now as far as connectivity goes download coloros_modem_2.1.5i.zip you maybe able to find it via crdroid thread. flash via recovery right after rom before gapps, you should be functioning again
granted these steps helped me for my x9070

Hello. I still have the same issue and unfortunately no backup of the NV partition.
I would be so happy if someone can send me a backup of the NV partition.
You can change the IMEI with an HEX-Editor to 999999999 for example before you send me your backup.
I am not interested in using your IMEI. I just want my phone working again. Thank you very much.

If anyone find how to fix dual imei then please reply ...i bricked my phone by installing boot logo of corvus rom in miui then i repair my phone with sp flash tool but unfortunately i click on format-all+download
Then my phones bootloader got lock, imei lost, wifi mac address lost, Bluetooth address lost but i repair all except imei 1,imei 2 means sim 2 work after writing imei in miui meta tool but sim 1 is not fixed even if we write sim 1 imei in miui meta tool we got nvdata error in official miui and also not worked in engineering rom..so at all please if someone fixed or know how to fix please reply...
You can fix imei 2 using meta maui.you have lots of videos that show you how to do it. I had the same problem.now imei 1 is null(not working) but imei 2 is ok.the only way for us to fix them both is to get a twrp backup from a working phone of the files nvdata, nvram, nvcfg, persist, protect_s,protect_f. Then restore them and change both imei.

you flash eng. rom. then got to fastboot, delete nvram, nvdata. using meta maui you can put ONLY imei2 (press write about 5 times then wait 1 minute before disconecting maui..) start the phone and check if imei 2 is working. at this part you can even flash twrp and make backup of files to use them later. the important thing is while being on eng rom, to make imei 2 working and showng active. then flash stock rom, avoid flashing stock nvdata. right after flashing, enter fastboot and flash backup nvdata. if it wont allow you to flash nvram(check if its from a rn8p phone) then flash twrp, mount nvram, nvdata, nvcfg and flash the backups from there.there are lots of combinations.
